She's super young, there's still potential. Nobody on this side of the planet has a better track record with pushing women's wrestling than WWE these days so we'll see. I never bought into the hype. Whack look, can't talk, mediocre worker who looked great against better talent. 5 years from now maybe she'll be back and then she can main event Mania against Lesnar.
I think for some people, me included, they took her out of NXT and was kept off tv (for whatever reason) for a really long time. If they were going to not utilize her on Smackdown, then they should have just left her in NXT to get more polish. They had just turned her heel down there before the move, so it seems haphazard. Same with Shotzi Blackheart. And when they did start using them, some shit made no sense (her and Tegan Nox never did get that tag title match from what I've read), sudden turns, and made to look like a fool. I mean, I get where they were going with it, but it didn't come off well.

Bottom line, I saw mega potential in Toni Storm as one of their next big stars, along with Shotzi, but it seems it just gets wasted way too much.

I guess if I'm a young talent who's barely accomplished anything outside the hardcore wrestling bubble, that working with Charlotte Flair for the championship is a pretty big fucking deal.

Developmental is developmental. Some people act like she was ready for more. Was she ready for the main roster? Apparently mentally she wasn't. I get it. Oh they didn't use her immediately but for fuck's sake...I think they made it up to her by putting her in the championship feud with Charlotte. It was the association at the very least that was going to give her the rub.

Basically there are fans like yourself who thrive on twisting a scenario into a negative. Not in NXT long enough, spent too much time in NXT. Not used properly on main roster, in world title feud but it wasn't good enough because.....? Let her go to AEW and put her shoulders to the mat for Nyla and Britt like every other castoff female talent from WWE Land.

I can’t speak for the rest of the so-called “Negative Nicks”, but was it too much to ask for a little build? Toni was pulled out of catering and randomly given a “feud” with Charlotte, one that she had absolutely no chance of winning. Would she honestly have gotten any remote rub coming out of that, moreso than the other random challengers?

That’s why we lament the missed opportunities. You remember that little women’s tournament, where the sum total of in-ring action was ~25 minutes over seven matches? Why couldn’t the likes of Toni/Liv/Shotzi/etc get 12-15 minutes per match to show something, give the uninspired fans a reason to care. Instead of something that had the potential for awesomeness, we got a rushed make-right for Thea Trinidad and another soapbox/angle for Mrs. Corey Graves; neither of whom particularly needed that exposure. Two months passed between Toni doing the job to Zelina and randomly becoming “the #1 contender”, the company did sweet fuck-all to give the fans reason to believe that Storm was anything more than filler for Charlotte.

The company desperately needs to build women’s stars outside of the Four Horsewomen; the closest they currently have to something hot is Liv Morgan, but she’s on the verge of getting Braun Strowman’d unless they pull the trigger soon.

I agree with you about Storm. But other than that, I disagree with a lot of what you're saying.

Bianca is not a member of the Four Horsewomen, but she is legit at their level.

Doudrop also is a pretty solid talent in the ring who can also handle herself well enough on the mic. I'd put both of them ahead of Liv at this point, but I agree that Liv just showed she's deserving of more ring time against top level.

Rhea Ripley can also hang with the top ladies, but her gimmick needs work.

We don't know what was going to happen with Toni because she quit. She's not reliable now.

Plenty of women outside the 4 Horsewomen have made a splash. It's just the 4 Horsewomen are fucking incredible. But yeah, let's shit on Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Bianca Belair, Nia and Shayna dominated tv, how many chances did Nikki Cross get? Rhea Ripley...eh maybe an argument but still a pretty new talent compared to most. Shit I'll even give Carmella some props.

You're stuck on this anti-Vince kick.

Letting Regal go is insane. I wonder if Punk will get his buddy Ace a job.

Restructuring is nothing new in WWE. Have any of you watched the FCW documentary? Do it now if you haven't it'll give you a great understanding of how business works.

A couple shockers with Regal and Road Dogg. Figured time was ticking for Thatcher. Little worried this'll be one of those things that keeps snowballing into near 20 releases but we'll see...

People shouldn't be shocked. Road Dogg is terrible and has been shit on publicly and then made himself even look worse responding to his shit job as an agent. Regal....It sucks but the dude did probably as much as humanly possible. The last several years of NXT haven't been that great in comparison to pre-Andrade/Roode/Drew championship reigns. Once Road Dogg went down there it was all about Adam Cole. Nope. Fuck that and fuck him.

I feel like they could make a documentary about what's happened with NXT. They've sliced off so much it's just a cardboard box with good lighting.

They've made them about other developmental programs you should maybe stop trying to creep on my personal life and jump on youtube or the Peacock. Ever heard of OVW? Ever heard of the Trax? Ever heard of FCW, DSW? NXT is no different. Jesus Christ how many times has NXT itself changed in the last 10 years? Many.

I think the thing most of you are missing is when WWE is going to hire new blood instead of just getting rid of guys? Releases are nothing new and you always want to keep things fresh, but God, they just don't do anything but shed. They remind me of K-Mart or Sears when they kept shedding stores and employees every year, but never did anything to help turn their brands around.

WWE is not going down like K-Mart, but it does get fucking depressing to see nothing but releases from the company that has taken pride the last 8 years in signing and developing some of the best talent they have ever had. What was WWE's biggest news stories of 2021? Pretty much the big names they got rid of. Maybe turning NXT's logo into a joke? I don't know.

If WWE was shedding off excessive weight to become leaner, meaner, and ready for a new era, then I would be more open to change. But we all know that is not likely the case. It sucks to constantly hear nothing but bad news from this company.

If you only read what you want to read then yes, you would probably be wondering why they're not signing new talent....But they are AND they've been re-signing people like Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, just to name a few.

But again, you only want to read the negatives. Developmental is going to go back to being developmental. OVW's top stars were not indie darlings. John Cena wasn't 10 years deep in USWA before getting signed. Batista wasn't working Japan and Mexico. Brock Lesnar sure as fuck didn't care about going to ECW after college lol.

Not to mention, NXT is full of new talent. But again, it's still developmental. They were stupid for putting it on USA, now everyone thinks it's a true 3rd brand. Problem is, they tried to make it more important with less important wrestlers like Adam Cole at the top. Nobody bought into him.

The only time I was interested in Cole was when he was with UE, that seemed to be the only time he mattered, because otherwise he looks like the face of a 30 year old with the body of an 11 year old boy.

I watched this and man Kross and Scarlett are pretty fuckin cool people. Kross seemed to take everything on the chin better than his wife but overall they seemed like despite being letdown by how everything went after NXT, they enjoyed their time. Kross is someone who I'd like to believe could come back but would he? IDK. Everyone seemed pretty 50/50 on the guy.

Yeah not a fan of Gabe despite whatever positives he may have contributed to the business. Wasn't the the supposed heir to Heyman back in ECW? I might be wrong.

No surprise there. Last I read there were no intentions of an in-ring return, just sticking to a backstage role. Word going 'round is the Triple H squad is being dismantled.

HHH had a health scare a short while ago that was plenty serious, and his responsibilities have been drastically cut/reassinged. It seems that he no longer had the clout to protect many of "his" people.

Not really surprised about Joe. He's a rare talent and will be missed.

Not really surprised about Joe. He's a rare talent and will be missed.
Joe should've signed with WWE when he and Punk were both offered contracts and instead Joe chose TNA. I love Samoa Joe, but the guy is has been an injury prone motherfucker for 15 years. Even in TNA, he was hurt all the time. WWE, same thing. Great at the booth though so there's at least a possible future for him there.

I think people are forgetting about Triple H having a heart attack. It's also funny how a huge chunk of the wrestling community pretends to hate the guy, sick of seeing him on tv, sick of his influence--but now we miss him? NXT never turned a profit. What did you expect? Every 5-6 years WWE changed their developmental territory and NXT is no different. If you watch NXT when Jinder and Seth Rollins were fighting for the title, look at every say 3 years. It seems they would change something about the presentation, the trainers, the talent, etc. NXT 2.0 reminds me more of the era with Seth and Big E as champion or OVW-which is a good thing imo.

The same guy who makes fun of me when I talk about the demo and how it relates to advertisers is now defending a company that fired people because it wasn't profitable for their brand. Weird how you understand the business minded aspect in some instances but not others.

You're talking about two totally different things here buddy. Stick to what you know. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, and AEW demo victories.

Let's not bring that in here please. You can call out his opinion of AEW, but the rest is unnecessary. So let's shut that down please.

    (Mustafa) Ali requested his release.

I'd be surprised if they don't grant it.

I liked him, hope they grant his release because they clearly have no interest in him as an on-screen character.

I feel like they wasted a dude who can both work and talk, that they were unable to use him in the tag division/upper midcard or as a mouthpiece seems like a pretty tragic waste of assets. Ali as the Paul E to Gable Stevesonís Brock Lesnar could have been pretty interesting TV.

I was excited for his opportunity as the Retribution stable leader, thought it had potential at first; unfortunately Vince went Vince and burdened the members with asinine names and gimmicks from which they never recovered.

I don't think the gimmicks were the problem, it was having no plan with what to do with the group.

Yeah, another instance of WWE not knowing or caring what to do with a talented performer. Him being Retribution's leader made no sense then he went to being Mansur's friend. He deserves better, and he ain't alone.

Fightful is saying Ali got into an argument with Vince about "Something Mustafa Ali never would have done" and he hasn't been around since.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say something terrorist related.

Too bad. I remember a year or two back when CBS News even did a segment on him, lauding the company for not saddling Ali with the stereotypical 'evil foreigner' schtick

What's too bad is you're literally basing your post on something Bert, a Proud Boy supporter, GUESSED was the issue. IDK if he was even serious.

The real issue is that people would automatically assume that solely based on Ali's looks. It could've been 100 different things. Maybe they wanted him and Tamina to have a relationship and since he's married he was against it. If you remember, in real life British Bulldog had an issue with Diana's involvement in his feud with HBK.

Let's be honest....Mustafa Ali. Good talent but no personality, no charisma, no fire. Plenty of wrestlers in the US alone can work and "talk". I wasn't into his rivalry with Buddy Murphy, another bland "can work and 'talk'" talent that hasn't been forgotten because they're a dime a dozen. Retribution, Mansoor, it's just more examples of it popped of Ali would get the credit but since everything he's done hasn't popped off it's the WWE's fault. I'd say a combo of both but he needed more than just being a darker skinned Muslim who isn't portrayed as a terrorist-which is pretty difficult to find in the history of WWE. Sgt Slaughter was probably the biggest terrorist gimmick of all time, that man was white with his stolen valor.

Actually I think Ali’s got plenty of mic skills and charisma if they let him run free but due to pecking order and other restrictions, it’s not always seen. He could also be a great underdog face as well but again low down.

His UpUpDownDown stuff before Woods put the channel on pause was great.

I’ll even go far as to say Retribution could have had a better chance but they just dropped the ball entirely there by them not being more chaotic.

Huge fan of Mustafa Ali and I 100% believe he was main event caliber. Excellent in the ring and on the mic, driven and creative, and a stellar human being. They absolutely whiffed hard with him. I anticipate him being something big outside of WWE, possibly even outside of wrestling, as well.

Mustafa wasn't on his way to being the next Eddie Guerrero, but he could have smashed some ceilings with the IC title. Could have touched main event too if they really tried. Him being of Pakistani descent and having such a beautiful family, leading to him conquering some evil beast for the IC belt at Wrestlemania... fantasy booking stuff, but he could have been that guy.

As for what he could have gotten into an argument about, all speculation for now. But knowing track records, it was probably something in the realm of tone deaf or cringe only WWE is known all to well for. For so long they've done things that make no sense and then drop it for something else, only for them to make counter productive decisions that negate any sort of fix or redemption. Based on their execution of things just in the last 2 years, they've lost logic.

The only things WWE has going for them right now is Roman/Brock and who leaves.

    Blasphemy!

WCW had the whole Glacier Sub Zero-like entrance and Xia Li in her debut was Raiden. I’d have thought you’d have appreciated that.

Ali’s good people who can go and has a range face or heel though.

What's too bad is, regardless of why he left, conjecture or otherwise, is that WWE got mainstream attention because of one particular wrestler (and 'mainstream' on a network that I don't believe has any vested interests in promoting WWE, such as NBC or Fox coverage may have been seen) who had a great upside and now they're gone so soon afterwards. Ali was getting good reviews within the wrestling community, and somehow that translated into a profile piece that put himself and the company in a good light. Was Ali doing a lot of outside work for the company at that time, doing the Titus O'Neill thing by being a 'brand ambassodore' or something like that? Just from memory, I want to say the story was broadcast a couple months before the Retribution angle involved him directly. In any event it's interesting that out of all the superstars they managed to find an angle (news-wise) to make him the feature of the story.

Disappointed to hear about Mustafa Ali. Good look, could really go and I thought he could talk pretty well, too. I feel he had charisma.

Probably the best thing for him though, assuming his release is granted.

So every little feature about any wrestler should equal in to what? They hooked him up with a stable and he couldn't make it work. Again, if he does something good it's him that gets the praise, but if he fails it's the WWE's fault. When are people going to accept that not every mediocre midcarder is destined for something great EVENTUALLY. I mean, he wasn't getting over. So what if someone did a little news piece on him he isn't the first and he won't be the last lol.

He should be main eventing this years WrestleMania. Fuck WWE for not booking him that way.

It isn't until someone is released or asks for a release that people seem to care about them.

I'm just not going to get wrapped up in creating my own negative rumors every time someone leaves WWE. It's bad enough when talent doesn't take any responsibility and lure fans into believing a narrative just to stay relevant.

If Ali was so good something he did would've worked beyond good wrestling and decent mic work. That literally describes 99% of the WWE. Many, many good workers and decent mic workers.

Donald you're right, he came out rocking the Sub Zero looking gear and that magically turned him into someone who could've been IC Champion. Like that means something lol. Everyone just thinks throwing a belt on someone would've been the ticket! Not everyone is going to work out especially in the WWE.

I keep seeing this mentality and it's so dumb.

I care about Cesaro now but what's the sense talking about him and all the great matches he could be having elsewhere when he just signed for another 3 years or whatever and he'll be stuck in WWE limbo/catering.

What a surprise that it's not until wrestlers actually have options that people start talking about their possible future.

When did talent not have options outside of the WWE?

I mean yeah, you might wind up in AEW and get seriously overpaid carrying on storylines created by the WWE. But people haven't had trouble finding work.

And it's true. Every jabroni in the midcard that gets released or leaves, somehow they were magically destined for greatness lol.

Ali was just okay to me. Fit in in the midcard but more as a face. Could've had a decent run with Mansoor If I didn't see it on here I wouldn't have noticed Ali was gone.

Ali is just one of those guys who they refer to as a utility worker. He's a Cesaro. If the 80's and 90's taught us anything, pure wrestling doesn't draw. Ali doesn't draw. Cesaro doesn't draw. It's that simple. That doesn't mean they suck. I LOVED Perry Saturn. I never understood why WCW or WWF never put a top midcard title on him. He had the best matches with Goldberg, and he was one of the best wrestlers during the few years he was in WWF. But he wasn't a big draw. He got over wearing a dress and fucking a mop. Nobody apparently gave a shit that he was a superior wrestler to many on the roster. Maybe it was his height, somewhat injury prone, hurt a guy or two (jobber and Taz), maybe there were just better wrestlers.

I kind of see Ali in that boat. He's not great at anything, but he's good at everything. Failing to reach main event status in the WWE shouldn't be frowned upon, he made it further than I guarantee anyone ever imagined when they first saw him in the company.

I might not have X-Pac heat towards Ali if he never felt the need to overcomplicate and misuse the X-Factor itself. The X-Factor itself, people.

While I wouldn’t say main event, he is at least IC/US title and yeah nothing wrong with that. However he has had the rug pulled out from under him at times too. While the first rumoured push where Kofi took his place was due to injury (not blaming WWE for that, shit happens) but they were going to him that “Truth” gimmick which was inexplicably dropped. Then he got exposure as the leader of Retribution but then they diluted them every week and didn’t seem to know what to do with them. The team with Monsoor was good but again fell off the radar so perfectly understandable why he’s frustrated.

He could’ve been a regular solid TV fixture I’d not main event. While some could say it’s his fault for not making things work, kinda hard for anyone to make that stuff work if they’re not given time and a fair shake of things.

He was supposedly set for an IC/US title run not too long ago but had a concussion.

99% of the time these wrestlers leave and tell a very very one sided story. Maybe that's on WWE for not having someone always come out and dispute or add credit to any of the claims positive or negative. It's this type of stuff that keeps the last remaining wrestling fans still around.

Let's be real, Ali wasn't treated like Karrion Kross. I also don't see how a UC or IC title or even a tag title reign was going to change anything. Fantasy book all you want, hindsight works well. The answer isn't always "They could've had a nice reign with the IC/US title!" How do any of us know that? I don't even see a problem with his status. Let's fuckin talk about Ricochet.

I have no idea what you're getting at with the 'should equal in to what'. Simply put, the story was a positive piece on him and WWE. I don't think CBS was trying tp work their 6:30PM audience into thinking he was the next world chamion or anything.

How often do you see professional wrestling getting any type of feature story done on them on any of the major network news programs that isn't done under the heading of 'steroid use' or 'tragically young death' or something equally salacious? I thought it was interesting that they picked him and made him part of a story that put him over to a much wider audience and me bringing that up seems to have you all twisted. Bizarre.

Tbf, the last one I recall was Darren Young coming out on TMZ. I could be wrong, but I’m about 87% sure that WWE immediately turned them face and gave them a little push. Not quite to the titles, that was later. But WWE did take some positive coverage in that one and tried to use it.

I'm saying just because a positive piece is ran about a talent doesn't the WWE have to capitalize on it.

You bringing that up isn't twisting anything other than your weird thought process as to what WWE should have done in response. So fucking what? They actually did continue to push him and he kept getting hurt. Not the WWE's fault your man is weak.

Yes because I legit want you all to stop talking about Ali and just solely talk about Ricochet. Forever.

Mazer is actually in talks right now of switching over his mod powers to me we're just finalizing a few things. So be prepared because after January 29th, every thread will be nothing but Ricochet aka Prince Puma talk. Anyone who sways, banned for 34 days in 2023.

When a man's heart is full of deceit it burns up, dies, and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black heart of the same man who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes the Dark Warrior, the purveyor of good, with a voice of silence, and a mission of justice.

    This… is… Elias.

    A short-lived thread.

I said they should request them. Walter got named after a Nazi, although they'll probably drop the surname. Sarray got repackaged as a Japanese school girl with pigtails and coke bottle glasses.

Based on everything I've seen from the last episode, that is a huge part of her new gimmick.
