Is it just me or is TRT Vitor on his way back? How long until Vitor un-retires and fights in Japan?

Add Josh Koscheck to the list of guys announcing retirement within just a few days span. He hasn't been relevant since like 2008 and has lost six straight. But still, he was one of the absolute top WW's in the world at one time.

Looking at these guys records in recent years it's a really good thing that they're hanging em' up..

If Hector Lombard hasn't been cut from the UFC yet you have to imagine he has to be if he loses one more? Age 40 and hasn't legit won a fight since 2014. If he get's cut I can see him getting on some magical supps and join TRT Vitor in Rizin though.

It's interesting that Rashad's, Hendrick's and Lombard's slides coincidentally started at around the same time as USADA came aboard (July 2015). They were age 35, 37 and 31 at the time so maybe no spring chickens but definitely not crusty old, washed up farts either. Lombard and Evans has won zero fights post USADA while Hendricks squeezed in W's against Matt Brown and (post USADA) Lombard.

It's not fair to expect guys pushing 40 to be the same as in their primes (DC excluded I guess) but they are usually still very competitive unless fighting the elite of their weight-class; GSP (37), Bisping (39), Shogun (37 in November), Teixeira, (39 in October), Machida (40), Oliynyk (41), Reem (38), Werdum (41 in July), Mark Hunt (44) etc..

Everyone is different of course and it could be just coincidental, but still interesting..

I may be naive here but I think it's only coincidental in Rashad's case. Hendricks is the post-USADA poster boy.

Definitely a juice monkey but he had about a 50/50 UFC record even prior to USADA. I think his is more of a big fish in a small (at the time) pond situation.

Yeah, Bellator's MW division has never been all that great for whatever reason but even more so at the time when Lombard ran through it. His frame is also an issue, being 5'8-5'9 ish with t-rex arms and fighting at MW is not a good thing, but at the same time his cut to WW must have been absolutely brutal. Kind of reminiscent of Jeff Monson back in the day. 5'9 but so god damn muscle bound he'd never make 205. Monson/Tim Sylvia looked about as ludicrous as Lombard/Anthony Smith did.

The Fireball Kid (age 40 in September)

    vs.

    The Young Assassin (age 35)

I guess this fight makes sense, sort of streak vs. streak.

OD50, I can't tell if you're FOR or AGAINST USADA. You always seem to try and link USADA with fighters who go on losing streaks. Some fighters only have so much to offer, with or without PEDS lol. Even a guy like Vitor. Anderson Silva had no problem shutting him down at the height of his roid rage.

Former UFC stars Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz agree to third MMA fight

Mixed martial arts legends Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz will rekindle their infamous rivalry in a trilogy bout later this year, under the banner of Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.

ESPN has confirmed that Golden Boy, one of the world's premier boxing promotions, has signed promotional agreements with Liddell and Ortiz. An official date and location are being finalized and should be announced soon.
    This feels terrible.

Yeah because I would imagine 99% of us see Tito getting the W and then acting like he was ultimately better than Chuck. And honestly I wouldn't be so negative to this if Chuck had a career like Tito's at the end. Tito wasn't getting knocked out left and right. He was winning some fights and the ones he lost it wasn't like you were fearful for his life.

I hope Iceman pulls it off.

    It's not.

And though no one else will do it I'd like to applaud Dana on this one for not caving in all these years to exploit Chuck for easy cash when this is something Liddell's probably been open to for some time.

Didn't take long for Vitor to start hanging around the nearest Florida anti-aging clinic. He claims he's there for some vitamin and amino infusions, yeah.. Not saying he isn't doing some vitamin/amino infusions but just what else he's "infusing"... I bet all those sweet vials of testosterone in the room next by isn't tempting at all.

He seems like the kind of mad cunt that will blow himself up then enter back into USADA and fight again. Unless he just goes to RIZIN.

Depending on where it takes place and what regulations will apply, it wouldn't shock me to see Vitor pop up to co-main the Chuck/Tito III Golden Boy card. Other than that Rizin and ONE are the only possible foreign orgs I guess.

Bonnar vs. Vitor? I'm in. Bonnar didn't impress me vs. Ortiz, and Vitor is a one-trick pony who had his hands full with Marquardt.

Vitor v. Bonnar would be cool, very random idea but it would be cool. Although I can't forgive Bonnar for introducing the world to Stitches. Terrible.

New footage of Chuck training for Tito..

I don't know, he looks plodding as hell and even though he's doing a very simple combination he has to stop and think several times before throwing, probably a sign that his brain is slow to process and his reflexes and hand-eye coordination is shot. It's a good thing Tito isn't a power puncher at least.

We are talking about a dude who's 48 years old so I'm not expecting 32 prime Liddell.

The way people are talking about his speed and coordination it sure seems like a lack of perspective. But yes you are right P, as usual, nobody that I know of said "I am expecting 32 year old Liddell" It was not specifically meant to imply that anyone truly was but it's you so go figure.

While you were away I did a poll on twitter and 47% of my followers said that they were expecting the 34 years 4 months 19 day 23 min 45 sec Chuck Liddell. A mere 12% said they were expecting 15 year old Liddell from when he was a blue belt in TKD.

You're pretty fluent in trolling though so good for you.

Pretty odd you would take that comment I made about 32 year old Chuck Liddell as anything more than hyperbole. So other than wanting to be troll I have no idea how someone of your intelligence stumbles so often.

    @OD50

There's a crazy fight on her record. So apparently when she fought Jessica Aguilar a 2nd time, she was trying to signal to the ref that Aguilar's blood was dripping into her eye and the ref thought Magana was verbally submitting. So they called it a Verbal submission win for Aguilar, then Magana beat her a few months later via decision.

I mean, at one point it seemed like maybe she (Magana) was going to be pretty good because Aguilar would go on shortly after that to beat the likes of Carla Esparza and WMMA legend Megumi Fuji. But MMAmath doesn't mean shit in reality.

Just saw that Chris Leben will fight Phil Baroni in bare knuckle boxing on October 20 (Wyoming). Somehow that doesn't seem like the smartest thing for either of them.

Idk, I've heard quite a few fighters like Conor McGregor for example speak positively about bare knuckle fighting. I caught a few of the highlights from the 1st event, it was pretty cool. Chris Lytle is also on this card, dude was one of my fucking favorites. Same with Leben. I remember seeing him on TUF after Raw one night due to a friend calling me up telling me I had to watch this UFC show (I think it was the 2nd episode) and I saw this red haired crazy mofo. Plus he's a killer, did he ever have a boring fight?

I disliked Leben for sure back in the day at the height of the "TUF noobs" vs. Japanophiles (me), cage vs. ring, elbows vs. soccer kicks, Pride vs. UFC era and I remember being elated when Anderson destroyed Leben who represented everything I disliked about MMA at the time; shitty Tapout gear, cage-fighting, ugly tattoos, drunk disrespectful fans, Dana White etc, etc. Kind of softened up on him through the years though, kind of a knob with poor technical skills but definitely a warrior. I remember him getting beaten down by Akiyama but still pulled out a last second triangle for the win.

I will probably check out Leben, Baroni and Lytle in BKC even if it will be quite ugly.

I'm thinking Leben/Jay Silva could have been a snoozer. I will not go back and watch it though..

Haha oh yeah man I remember this was also the time I was introduced to Sherdog.com and there was definitely a vibe amongst elite hardcore MMA fans and those who were either sucked back in or just started watching due to TUF. Especially when the UFC used to that match making where they'd take a TUF fighter and square them up against a mediocre fighter already in the UFC like all those dudes that wound up on TUF 4.

I owe a lot to not just Shamrock/Tito 1 for bringing me back into MMA but TUF for cementing my love for MMA. It really opened up the mainstream's eyes to the sport. It was also extremely smart of Spike to put TUF on right after Raw. That season had so much drama with Leben and Kos/Southworth, the thievery of Alaskan Sam, but you also had good fights and 2 coaches who had a PROFESSIONAL rivalry so it was all about the coaches like later seasons have become, it was more about the fighters.

Leben though.....That guy would have been HUGE in Pride. And I remember when Silva murdered him, I had seen 2 fights of Andersons, the Chonan loss and the Carlos Newton fight so I was 50/50 on what he could actually bring to the table but Joe Rogan talked him up so much I was like, either this dude is the real deal or Joe just fucked him. And Leben with that win was set for a title shot against Franklin without question and for Silva to come in and murder the guy who was murdering everyone at 185, spoke volumes about Silva. I remember Silva crushing both Leben and Franklin and it was that devastating KO victory where you just feel so bad for the loser, like emotionally I was on the verge of tears for Franklin he looked so fucking scared when Silva had him in the clinch.

    Anyway.....

I had only seen Anderson vs. Carlos Newton and Anderson vs. the "Brazilian Killah" Alex Stiebling pre UFC so I knew how good he was despite getting subbed by Chonan and Takase. There definitely was that "lol TUF Leben got smashed by a Pride reject" vibe, nobody knew how great he would end up being.

The Pride/UFC rivalry was kind of cool but also very taxing as a fan, I remember almost shitting my pants every time there was Pride vs. UFC type fight. Damn, Gonzaga/CC nearly gave me a heart attack.. Was down for days after that.

And yeah, same. I'd say Tito/Shamrock (UFC 40) was the fight that brought me back to MMA, I actually did watch UFC 38 (Brawl at the Hall?) live though, it aired on television here since it was in England with the same timezone. Unlike many who say they did I actually watched the first couple of UFC's waay back in the day, probably watched UFC 1 on VHS in late 1995, but then it got difficult to get hold of the tapes (think I have UFC 1-4 on VHS) and I didn't really care all that much either way. Some years later I remember reading about UFC 22 (Tito vs. Frank Shamrock) and trying to get a hold of the tape but couldn't find it anywhere. It wasn't easy back in those days to watch UFC, K-1 or Pride.. UFC 40 on the other hand was released on DVD in '02 and was easy to get.

I am very blessed to have my cousin Joe in my life because he's about 10+ years older than me, was super into Judo in his younger days so when the first couple UFC's dropped on PPV he ordered them and invited me and my best friend over because he knew A-we loved martial arts and B-loved pro wrestling. They used to advertise the early UFC events in PWI as well, especially when Severn got in the mix due to him also being NWA World champion.

Plus my best friend I just spoke of, his mom worked for a small video store here and they would get all the wrestling and UFC tapes so we'd be renting that shit and I probably watched the first 3 UFC's 2-3 times lol.

Ken Shamrock was also huge in getting back into the WWF product. My guy Nash was already gone doing the nWo but when Shamrock showed up in the WWF I was like hold up, that's my boy Shamrock! It brought a true realism to the business that honestly I had never seen in my lifetime as I grew up watching Hulkamania and never really understood the "shooters" of yesteryear. Shamrock blurred those lines perfectly and really helped the WWF more than people ever give him credit for.

Shouldn't be a shock why the product suffered when he left. Or maybe I just want to believe that lol.

Leben was a character. Hard as nails, heavy handed, loved a brawl. I watched the TUF series with him in years later and through adult eyes saw a troubled fella with clear psychological issues, which led to him being under the influence a lot and therefore a bit of an enigma. Those were wild west days. I don't doubt a lot of those early shows he was on some form of narcotics, or pissed, through most of his interviews. Leben vs. Baroni would have been so much fucking fun in PRIDE around the time when Baroni and Minowa were throwing down.

Crazy how PRIDE's been gone 11 years and there's still guys hanging on at the top of cards. Shogun's longevity is crazy. It shows the pace of improvement has slowed down quite a bit in MMA. That leap from around the PRIDE 2000 GP to PRIDE's closure is crazy. Pretty much everybody that was relevant in the early days (93-96) were weeded out halfway through that time, whereas you can probably take a guy in their physical prime from 2006 and give him a decent chance against the top guys today, and even post-prime would stand a chance against a top 15 opponent. Whereas Oleg Taktarov sure as shit wasn't beating somebody like Ricco Rodriguez if they transported his prime into 2003. My lean is that sports science has added that extra 10% onto the modern level of athlete, as physical skills have pretty much come to a peak across the board. Guys certainly have less holes too.

Thinking of it, the evolution of MMA the last 10 years has primarily been in defence. How many top 5 guys or champions get submitted anymore? Mighty Mouse and Pettis do remarkable things, other than that the contenders only really seem to get caught in guillotines or rear naked chokes. Back in the day you'd get armbars from the back, kimuras, triangles - they operate at a very low percentage success rate nowadays. Then there's the striking distance control which has certainly improved over the decade - you get freak athletes that can leap from outside to inside in a flash like Yoel, but there's generally a little more science to how people land today. The uppercut Jeremy Stephens killed RDA with for example just wouldn't be seen today, there's such an astonishing lack of footwork, distance control and head movement in that from RDA - it's a fucking great punch but that has such limited results nowadays with people being more nuanced with their defence. If you watch fights from that era, there's some great action brawls based on two guys who have no concept of movement so they just twat each other. Paul Kelly vs. Paul Taylor for example - two offensively excellent fighters creating an excellent fight because neither could move their heads and both could take a shot. Once fighters learned how to move, guys like that wouldn't land punches and they got weeded out. Marcus Davis is a great example of the post-TUF era - could defend a shot, knew what he was doing on the ground, great offensive boxer, but you could land a punch on him if they were throwing it lying down.

Can't remember the last time I saw someone pull off an armbar from the bottom, Fedor style.

And as big of a Pride fan I was there's no getting around that steroids weren't just legal, they were encouraged, I doubt guys like Arona, Wand, Randleman and Coleman would look the same under USADA.

Here's something I've been pondering, how would a prime (2003-2006) Crocop fare in today's UFC HW division?

    vs.
    DC
    Lesnar
    Ngannou
    Stipe
    Blaydes
    Lewis
    Tuivasa
    JDS (Loss/TKO 2009)
    Cain
    Werdum
    Hunt (loss/decision 2005)
    Volkov
    Oliynyk (loss submission/2013)
    Overeem (NC/2008)

@FannyBatter I think in terms of Shogun it's not so much the evolution of MMA slowing down as it is he caught glory very very early in his career, I believe he was 23 when he won that MW GP. He's also benefited from 205 which over time has lost a lot of top tier fighters for various reasons (retired, moved down to 185, left the company, etc.) He also hasn't been very active in the last 5-6 years.
@OD50 Cro Cop in his prime would probably still lose if it was the same exact skillset by practically everyone you listed. He got knocked out in 4 seconds by Kevin Randallman of all people. I mean, one could say he was still in his prime when he came over to the UFC. And damn that Gonzaga loss, still makes my stomach turn, not only getting murked by your own finisher, the Left HK, but his fucking leg twisting...ugh.

Randleman wasn't the most skilled fighter but definitely a roided up powerhouse monster (pun intended) at the time. Also, the takedown feint/left hook combo was unexpected and probably would have murked pretty much anyone. CC definitely didn't give a shit about Randleman's stand-up and he paid for it. And don't forget he subbed Randleman in 42 seconds in the rematch. I would actually give (prime) CC a pretty good chance against anyone on that list, but I'm a CC mark so my opinion doesn't really count.

Hunt fought CC in his prime in 2002 (K-1 decision win for CC) and 2005 (Pride) and won, I still to this day have CC winning the Pride fight though. Hunt was moving more forward but CC landed more often and the more damaging blows by far.

Did you see Michael MacDonald/Eduardo Dantas? Pretty much the exact same disgusting twisted foot thing happened as in CC/Gonzaga.

Why surprised? Convicted killers, rapists and other various trash always gets tons of female admiration. The Night Stalker was convicted of 13 counts of murder, 5 attempted murders, 11 sexual assaults (I think the youngest victim was 9 and the oldest 81 or something), and 14 burglaries in 1989. While in prison he had tons of female "fans" writing him letters and visiting him. He got married to one of those "fans" (Doreen Lioy) in 1996.

I can give you two similar examples from Sweden; Mattias Flink a military officer who went full retard in 1994 and killed seven (and injured three) female members of the raffle corps aged 20-35 with his FN FNC assault rifle. There was a lot written in magazines about tons of young females flocking to see him in jail and writing him "fan letters".

Then there's Juha Valjakkala who killed an entire family of three with a sawn off shot-gun and a hunting knife in the summer of 1988. He killed them when they tried to retrieve a stolen bike of all things. For whatever reason he was treated like a rockstar by young women who flocked to see him in jail. If the reports are true he was married seven times while in prison.

    So, whatever..

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah not a shock one bit. There are people who have done 10000x worse shit than War Machine and have countless pen pals and countless women/men wanting to be with them. It's fucking disturbing but these crazy fuckers get more trim than I ever will.

Y'all are 100% correct. And I don't know for certain why I acted so surprised with my comment there when I was aware of the kind of cases mentioned.

Guess it was just my level of disappointment talking.

In the WTF section, Eddie Alvarez has signed with... One FC.

I'm guessing he feels he can't compete with the absolute elite anymore and the Poirier fight showed that. So instead of turning into a fading gatekeeper like Jim Miller, Joe Lauzon and other LW's he decided to go for the cash and lesser competition, ONE has very deep pockets when they want to (see Ben Askren). Guessing we will see the Shinya Aoki rubber match.

To bad he didn't sign with Bellator, the Alvarez/Chandler rubber match would've been money.

Benson vs Alvarez is one I would have liked to see.

Fair play to him. Phenomenal career, don't blame him if he wants to fight in front of appreciative fans for a big crust while his skills and athleticism start to diminish. Plus if he goes, say, 5-0 in 2 years he'll walk into another big deal if he wants it, aged 37.

It's a shame he never beat Gomi, otherwise he'd have beaten the final lightweight champions of PRIDE, Strikeforce, WEC and WSOF, as well as being UFC and Bellator lightweight champion himself.

Eddie's always been that guy though. First time I saw him was Bodog. Then he chose brand new Bellator over the UFC and Strikeforce. Pretty solid UFC run, won the belt in arguably the toughest division on the planet, UFC's Lightweight division.

For us Western fans obviously we wanted him to be in a promotion we didn't have to go online to watch him on youtube but this will do. I just don't know enough about OneFC to know if they have anyone worth a damn in that division. I do enjoy the promotion, I usually go out of my way to watch Brandon Vera's fights.

Yeah, Eddie's always been very open with the fact that's he's a prize fighter, he goes where the best deal for him and his family is, he doesn't really care about legacy or titles. With four kids and a wife to take care of I can't blame him. He was offered a really shit 12k + 12k type deal by the UFC back in the day but went to Bellator and got himself $250,000 or something in the process for winning the LW tournament.

One FC doesn't exactly have the greatest roster, but fights against Eduard Folayang, Martin Nguyen or the Aoki rubber match would be worth watching.

If I remember, he absolutely hit the pay dirt on the McGregor fight as well. His original UFC offer before he had to fight out his Bellator contract called for $2.50 for every buy over 600k. He would have pulled in $3million minimum off that fight. Coaching TUF would have been a good crust. Base of at least $100k for his last 10 fights. This is just his retirement money, and good for him.

Does Tito Ortiz have really anything to gain in this upcoming fight with Liddell? If Liddell loses, no big deal. He was getting slept left and right on his way out and it's been damn near almost 10 years since he last fought. If he wins, well hey, that's a huge accomplishment for someone his age with no activity in forever regardless who it's against. It could be Iceman v. Shannon Ritch and the win would matter.

But Tito....If he wins, he beats a guy 10+ past his prime that had been getting KO'd religiously. If he loses, he just lost a 3rd time to the same dude who hasn't fought in forever lol.

The sad thing is, I think Tito wins. I hate saying that. Chuck was one of my favorites of all time, I ordered every single fight card he was on no matter who it was against from the time he fought Renato on the Shamrock-Ortiz card back in 2002 to the day he stepped away. I don't know if I could watch this without watching it for free.

Aside from money. That's a given. Obviously they're going to get a fat ass check. Tito will act like this was some huge accomplishment lol. That's what is so funny about the guy, I love his contributions and at 1 time he was devastating to watch, fucked up a lot of dudes. But come on....I'll actually be more shocked Tito makes it to the fight than anything. I just listened to an interview he did on the 15th with Fight Hub and he was giving the interviewer his new list of injuries and surgeries he's had done. Neck, ear, spine, eyelids, dick, etc.

Tito hates him, that's all the motivation he needed to agree to the fight. He actually said in an interview that he couldn't resist when he was offered Chuck.

Tito's a businessman. If Ken Shamrock could get cleared he'd fight him again as well. And Frank. Wouldn't surprise me to see him fight Royce Gracie either. Anything to squeeze a bit of money out of a willing buyer. Remember he was a guy with a pretty terminally bad back after the Machida fight, and he's bled another 10 years out of his career after that. Not bad for a guy who you could argue has only had one elite, emphatic win (Bader) since, what, Matyuschenko 17 fucking years ago? Other than that it's guys past their prime, undersized or he's squeaked past them. For as much of a thick cunt he sounds, he's a genius. An absolute genius. And if he beats Liddell, and goes 4-1 in his last 5, you don't think Bader will want that win back? Sonnen? Wanderlei? Ryan Bader will be the biggest star outside of the UFC if he beats Fedor, and Tito Ortiz actually has a logical reason to challenge him. It's probably a PPV. Tito, man.

Good call, if Tito decimates Chuck (as he honestly should at this point) Ortiz/Bader 2 for the Bellator LHW title would make a lot of sense as crazy as that sounds in 2018. But with CC on a nine fight win streak, Fedor in the HWGP finals and Kongo/Kharitonov being top HW contenders, what's old is sort of new again I guess. You have to think Bader would love to get that one back.

haha. I mean, Del Rio does have legit MMA experience and had Mexico been able to afford to send them he would have competed in the Olympics in Greco. Obviously these things happened 10+ years ago.

I don't know, kind of intrigued to see how this goes.

Dude is a genius. Only fought 1 time in his entire MMA career on a non-televised portion of the card and that was that alternate bout he had when he was what, 19? Seriously every UFC card, he was never even on the prelims lol. Dude was like 0-8 for 3 years, still one of the biggest draws. You could put him on ppv right now against Jon Jones and get what, 5-600,000 buys? I know that doesn't sound like a lot but when you look @ how ppv is dying it's a pretty big number. Very few fighters get even 300k for buys let alone half a million.

Tito Ortiz is going to fight Alberto Del Rio in December 7th for Combate Americas.

For those that don't know, ADR has actually fought several times in MMA. His most well known fight was a quick KO loss to killer Mirko Cro Cop, who headkicked the masked wearing Del Rio unconscious. The kick wasn't even that brutal, to the point where I'm not even sure it was legit, but back in the day all CC needed was a glancing strike to kill you.

I'd be much much more interested in their ex's fighting each other, naked, with a better camera than my phone.

Apparently the Tito Ortiz/Del Rio fight has been ruled a NO CONTEST. Nothing has really bubbled up but Tito has tweeted a few things this morning with a hashtag that was like #innocentuntilprovenguilty or some shit. So it has to be drug related right? Which is fucking crazy if Tito gets popped. All these years fighting and getting tested and never once failing, then you get popped in some meaningless fight in your 40's??

See, I thought maybe the TX commission thought something illegal happened DURING the fight.

Fixed fight allegations perhaps? It would be hilarious if Tito got caught cheating in by far the easiest fight of his entire career.

I mean the whole "build" was like a pro wrestling angle so maybe Tito went all in and start roiding up. I don't know it's baffling.

Fixed fight....Maybe. I was wrong about Tito, he actually hashtagged "Guilty Until Proven Innocent" but again it's very vague as to what he's implying.

I don't know I'm trying to stay off social media because I already had one result ruined for Super Showdown when I was simply checking Tito's page again lol. FUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is actually pretty interesting. What if this is Del Rio and his team going to the commission saying it was fixed because Del Rio sucks and had no place fighting in the first place? So they're doing this as a way to maybe make ADR out to still be a tough guy, idk. I have said some shit about Tito plenty of times but him being part of a fixed fight, and what that knowledge could do to this man's legacy.....We're not talking about Bob Sapp here we're talking about an icon who prides himself on being a cornerstone of the UFC and MMA really.

Win reinstated. Something came up on the urine sample that's been cleared up as Tito having a prescription.

Roll on Ortiz vs. Mil Mascaras at some point this year.

First fight done and this card is already in shambles.

Alvarez DQd for punches to the back of the head after the guy he was fighting turned his head...

Because of me? Lol. I think it's crazy that knees to a grounded opponent are legal though. And he still got up quicker than Aljo did.
