I would actually be interested in seeing this dude against a "name" fighter, someone we've seen do something positive in the cage. I applaud this kid, inspirational for sure.

I'd say his boxing and striking in general is pretty good. Prolly the best in the world...

Cockiness with his defense on the other hand, I'd say needs improvement...

Totally. He needs to bring in some cockiness defense coaches so he can really step his game up.

Nice article on how the Tachi Palace promoter plans to deal with the UFC poaching their top flyweights, and how he feels about it. Really impressed with the guy's attitude, and it definitely seems like he is choosing the smart way to go about doing business and building his promotion. Love that he embraces that the promotion is a stepping stone to the UFC rather than being pissed about it and turns it around to basically use that to market themselves as somewhere where you can see all the young up and coming talent first.

Smart guy. Once the division is integrated, Tachi will be able to showcase the up-and-coming talent in the division, producing more talent for the UFC roster. Flyweight will be awesome in a year or so.

I can't wait to see the man boob choke of death in the UFC. Only if they decide to sanction the new "Elephant" weight class though.

This is an oldie, but it kind of shows Jon Jones in a rather interesting light.

When asked what the one thing he would change about the UFC was, he said that he would get rid of the replica belts. Sure, he worked for years to get his, but apparently if he sees some rube walking around with one, he's insulted.

Kind of a boring article and not sure what interesting light it shows Jon Jones in. So the dude feels insulted if he sees a replica belt? Cool, I've heard more interesting things come out of a fart.

Why not? I'm honestly curious as to what you're implying. To me it was a lame article, yeah him not wanting to the UFC to make replica belts is interesting for how minute of an issue it is, but other than that I'm just curious as to what kind of light this portrays him in? Bad? Good?

I found it interesting that with all that's wrong with the UFC right now (Faber mentioned a few of them... judging, pay scale etc...), that the one thing that Jon Jones would change about the UFC... is the replica belts. It seems like a silly thing to want to change, and I think it puts him in a negative light.

At the same time... he's only 24... he's two years younger than I am. He's probably still got some immaturity. He also hasn't experienced many of the problems Faber mentioned. He hasn't spent much time on the low end of the pay scale, having moved into main events, title contention, and now champion very quickly. He also has only gone to decision twice that I know of, and he won both unanimously, so he hasn't dealt with any controversial decisions or other problems from judges.

Is he really so vain to think that the people that spent $400 to get a belt that sort of looks like his really diminishes his accomplishments?

The writer of the article summed it up much better than I did...

Looking out for other fighters and the long-term good of the sport vs. being upset that a fan wants your autograph on a fake belt.
    Smooth move, Jon.

    RUMOR MILL:

It may sound impossible, but from what I've heard the past few days, it appears that Alistair Overeem will be able to fight Junior dos Santos despite his testosterone levels registering much higher than normal after a surprise pre-fight drug test. When Alistair fought Lesnar, technically he never was truly licensed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Overeem had a conditional license at UFC 141, so in reality the NSAC can't revoke a license that Alistair Overeem never had. If Alistair can prove that he was prescribed TRT before the positive test, then his chance of fighting at UFC 146 increases dramatically.

UFC Rio is still slated, however it appears a UN meeting may push the event back (or forward) a week.

There's a rumor floating around Russia that Fedor Emelianenko's next opponent will be Tim Sylvia.
However, there's another rumor that originates from the US that Fedor's next opponent will be Bobby Lashley, but it seems that he's pricing himself out of the potential bout.

Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) plans to add MMA to their curriculum, if funding provides.

Bellator/Viacom has barred certain media outlets from getting access to Bellator events or communications. Unfortunately, MiddleEasy is one of those outlets.

There is 0% chance Mark Hunt will get a title shot if Alistair Overeem is unable to compete against Junior dos Santos.

Sort of a wild rumor, but when K-1 comes to Los Angeles later this year, Jean-Claude Van Damme may actually compete at the event. Yeah, I know. I'll believe it when I see it.

Phil Baroni is slated to fight on a September ONE FC card.

People seem to be overlooking the main reason why Jon Jones is being sponsored by UFC in his fight against Rashad Evans is because FORM Athletic no longer exists.

A relatively large MMA site has their ZUFFA credentials revoked this month due to some tweets that were published in late March/early April.

Not necessarily MMA, but it appears Badr Hari is on the verge of signing with K-1. The allure to knock heads off appears to have drawn him out of retirement.

Sorry guys, but we have no idea what's going on with Strikeforce.com.

345 Games seeks to take even more MMA/combat related Spike TV assets and convert them into videogames.

The next ProElite event is going to be in San Jose on June 2012.

A lot of you guys called it when it happened, but don't be surprised if King Mo is signed by the UFC after his mandatory suspension is up.

Two years ago Sly Stallone teased on Twitter of making a 'Rocky' movie with an MMA twist. Now it appears this may not be so far off.

UFC's Mark Fischer was in attendance at ONE FC: War of the Lions in Singapore.

Heavy rumor, but now that Buakaw is training Brazilian jiu-jitsu, people believe that he intends to make a run at MMA.

Apparently Kevin Rosier from UFC 1 and 4 is roaming around the streets of New York, suffering from brain damage and severe poverty.

I think I'm really back this time. Before, I was typing it from my phone or my kindle.. now, I'm actually typing on the repaired computer. Had a lot of unexpected finacial burdens occur at once basically and still having the kindle, ps3, and 3g phone.. the computer kinda took the bottom spot on the list. Seems to be all good now though.

Also.. mma bill has once again died an ugly death in NY..

Hey buddy. How ya been? Did you get to go to UFC Sweeden? Was it awesome?

I went to Invicta last weekend. Won some free tix on the radio. It was actually pretty fucking awesome. There were 2 or 3 fights that should honestly be considered for FOTY because they were fucking sick. Vaginas or not.

Yeah, heard some pretty great stuff about Invicta. Haven't watched it yet, only the highlights on Inside MMA.

UFC Sweden was pretty good with lots of interesting fights. Show was the most attended sporting event ever in the Globe (opened in 1989) and the second most attended overall, Metallica in 2009 beat it by a couple of hundred peeps. Crazy atmosphere though, especially for the Gustafsson/Silva fight.

I heard about that but honestly man, I take MMA retirement announcements with a grain of salt. These guys enjoy the time off, sure. But eventually the "itch" comes back and they want to do what they love again.

As long as he's been around Fedor is still relatively young. I think he'll be back.

It's kind of dissapointing how the mighty have fallen in terms of Fedor. In a perfect world he would have won the GP after besting Bigfoot, Overeem, and Barnett. His plus one fight would've been some big name from the UFC coming to get trampled, then Fedor would sign with the UFC, fight the HW champion, and retire after winning the belt. Sadly, none of that happened and I think the HW division as a whole suffers a little.

    lol.

To this day I still long for the Fedor v. Wanderlai fight. The 2 most dominant fighters in Pride's history never clashing? Sadness.

    Interesting combo.

Pretty awesome to see that it raised over $100,000 for an 8 year old with leukemia, though.

That's not really my thing. I don't watch MMA unless the fighters have tasers attached to their hands.

Remember when Rashad knocked this guy out then Santiago nearly killed him?

He's lost 9 in a row now in a grand total of 13 minutes. Every single fight ended in the first round.

Sean Salmon is going to be an MMA in ring fatality someday.

How do you even get licensed or have the desire to continue with that kind of losing streak?

He's possibly the worst MMA fighter to ever main event a UFC event as well. Not even Shamrock was/is that bad. Sure maybe some guys in the first handful of UFC's fucking sucked, but most of them didn't go on to have a 9 fight losing streak with a total of 13 minutes lol.

Indeed, it's like these fighters you see on Sherdog with a 0-15 record but every week they fight Cal Worsham or Ken Shamrock so they're happy to have a tiny bit of history knocked into them.

Surely the licensing body can restrict these fighters by saying the fight is clearly non competitive.

If they can do it to Wes Sims...

Irrelevant now though isn't it. He shouldn't be fighting if he gets KO'd every fight in the first round man. That's just dangerous.

Salmon was a decent journeyman until his failed UFC run. After that he turned into a traveling circus act ála Bob Sapp, getting paid decently because of his 'former UFC fighter' tag. He has even admitted himself to throwing one of his fights..
    http://mmajunkie.com/news/16060/full...nte-rivera.mma

Just like Big Bobby Sapp Salmon is a guy regional promotors love having their guys beat because of his name. Just look at (Sweden's) Assan Njie's wiki, it says he recently beat Sean Salmon to get the biggest win of his career or something.

His birthday is on September 11th. Unlucky. Also "Sean and his wife Missy have a son named Marcus". Sean, maybe you could find something else that satisfies your competitive desires without scaring your family to death everytime.

Pete Cash is probably going to cry himself to sleep upon reading this news but Fedor has retired, and on a win, after knocking out Pedro Rizzo.

Great power and handspeed still showed by FE. Rizzo is over-the-hill of course but still a good fight to go out on.

Lol @ Great power and handspeed .. against an over-the-hill opponent. That's like saying I showed great strength when I knocked out a 10 year old. I thought it was painfully dull, predictable, and an overall waste of my time. Wow you beat a guy you should've been fighting 10 years ago. Woo hoo. He's proved to us all that he can still beat cans. Hooray.

BJPenn.com posted up an article about Fedor saying that even though he's retired, he'd be willing to come out of retirement to fight Lesnar.

Reminds me of when Cain V got killed by JDS and Fedor's camp was lobbying for a fight with Cain lol. Come on Fedor, I wasn't your biggest fan but as a reg fan this is absurd.

That's quite a bit misleading. Fedor said nothing about Brock. Just that he couldn't guarantee that he would stay retired if a big opportunity came along. The article itself postulated Lesnar.

Mik is right, the interview was made by Ron Kruck on Inside MMA. He asked Fedor if he would ever consider returning if the right fight, like Brock Lesnar for example came along, Fedor just replied 'anything is possible'. FE never mentioned Lesnar's name it was Kruck asking a hypothetical question.

That is the shirt I bought my mate when I lost the first t-shirt bet.

He bought me this one when he found out Overeem failed the drugs test...of course at this point I was 3 t-shirts down anyway.

Man, looking at that pic makes me think Reem would be the most badass looking pro-wrestler in history. He was a huge wrestling fan back in the day (Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior were his favorites), maybe he'll join WWE when his fighting career is over..

You know Vince would cum in his pants just looking at Reem's biceps.

Oh Vince would absolutely sign Reem. In a heartbeat.

Just imagine how much bigger he'd get too without the need to cycle his steroids. He'd be like a 6'5-6'6 black John Cena.

So former TRT users Nate Marquardt and Shane Roller both picked up wins in the last week without the help of TRT during their camps .. sooooo .. did they ever really need it begin with? Marquardt looked great last night.. even for his first cut to 170. He looked fresh as could be in the 4th when he stopped Woodley.. and Roller dominated Alessio from bell to bell.

To be fair, I was reading an article on how effective TRT is anyway. From what I remember, so far caught or admitted TRT fighters have a losing record in MMA. The point is that being able to train more and being stronger doesnt necessarily equate to being a better fighter. Talent is talent and its not like these talented fighters arent also working hard too...or possibly they are on their own PEDs anyway. Where's Pete Cash at these days?

I noticed his absence recently too. I think it said his last post was on July 2. I hope he didn't OD or anything like that.

This looks like a winner ... Kevin James stars as a school-teacher at an under-funded school, who turns to fighting MMA to help raise funds for said school ..

Do we even need to have the Oscars this year?

Jason "Mayhem" Miller Arrested for Getting Buck Naked in Church

    http://www.tmz.com/2012/08/13/ufc-ja...-naked-church/

I don't suppose this would help any campaign to get back into the UFC any time soon or ever.

Mayhem was close to retiring as far as I knew...he does definately have some issues.

He and Dana got into a pretty bad tweet-off in which Mayhem told Dana to kill himself...

Also Dubya I heard about that movie a while back but completely forgot about it...

I watch anything with Kevin James in it anyway so I'm going to love this given BAS is in it!

Looks like a shitload of fun.
