If we play like that against Paraguay I think we win by the same margin.

Agree completely. Shame our entire approach can be so dramatically affected.

Congrats to the boys, great effort all around to get through after going down early.

Can't resist looking ahead should we beat Ecuador and a potential matchup with either Argentina/Mexico here in Houston. Woo.

Tickets are absurd though. So for now let's take care of business in Seattle. Maybe I'll be especially tempted then.

Nah, appears I'm a dumbshit and the potential matchup next round is either Argentina/Venezuela.

Which is just as well, seeing Mex here is not a lot of fun really. Hoping now to see Messi live of course.

Yeah if we win today we face the winner of Argentina/Venezuela. Mexico is on the other side of the bracket.

Should be fun to see who comes out on top of this tournament considering there was a couple surprises in group stage like Brazil not making it out.

Just got around to checking on DC United's game in the US Open Cup since my app didn't send me up dates last night and they lost to an NASL side on PKs. *sigh* Looks like they played some younger players and what not so not a completely full strength side but still.

LA Galaxy scored a cheap but legal goal against an amauter side in this round in OT. Felt bad for that team that had managed to take them to OT before giving up that goal and eventually a couple more.

    Very nice to advance.

Missing Jones, Bedoya and Wood is gonna suck.

LA doesn't have to ask for the ten yards and they don't have to wait for the player to get up if the ref doesn't stop play for him. Just cheap in my view when players from your own team and opposing team are checking on your down player. I am sure people will just say its a heads up play and that is one way to look at it. they managed two more goals so didn't affect the outcome. I am not an LA fan so of course you also could say I am bias but I don't hate them or anything. They didn't need to do it to win against an amauter side. If it was two MLS teams going at it I would probably have a different view point on it.

I think we would all rather be in the semis without those three, than lose yesterday with no suspensions. Pulisic, Beckerman, Nagbe, and Zusi can all help provide cover.

Saw online that Jones may be out for the final too if we make it. Can anyone confirm? If so that would be the least violent, violent conduct charge of all time.

Obviously would much rather be there.

US apparently going to appeal the suspensions of Jones and Wood, whatever good that might do.

Bit harsh like. I wonder what Corner of the Galaxy podcast will say on their next show.

LA Galaxy can't catch a break, last minute goal conceded to their bitter rivals on Saturday. Certainly going through a rough patch.

    I can live with that.

I say that but you guys still have more points than we do.

But things are looking up with Hamid back 3 shut outs in 4 matches.

I have no idea how they are top of the east. They are genuinely awful at times. It won't be long before RBNY are there instead.

Really disappointed with the whole Tim Howard thing. Zac MacMath has conceded 0.68 gpg this season (I don't think many, if any, keeper can match that in the world over the same amount of games recently) but he's been shunted out for Howard just because he's on a DP contract. It doesn't seem like a big thing but its that kind of thing that stops the league progressing as much as it should.

I was thinking the same thing about the Howard situation yesterday. Rapids have like the second best record in the league and even though MacMath was not top in saves he doesn't get that many shots thrown at him his save percentage is good and his gpg is great yet he takes a sit to Howard. I love Howard. Don't get me wrong but the other guy is getting the shaft.

Yep I agree, times I've seen NYC they've been awful. Bar Union the East conference so far has been that good regarding teams playing well.

All Star Game tonight. I will probably watch it even though I hate the format. I wish they would go back to conference vs conference.

Yup. Arsenal won 2-1. Not a bad game. I get the appeal of this format. Just not for me.

Taking kids to the Arsenal / Roma game tonight here in St. Louis. Should be fun despite not caring for either team.

Realized that later. I think I typed that looking at my posts above about the MLS All Star game. My bad.

Good game. Fair amount of action. Roma wins 2-1. Some great saves by both side. Each team could have easily had 3 or 4 goals.

Yes it is. I have watched two games in person on a baseball field now and I have seen more than a few MLS games on tv that was played on baseball fields as well where teams were sharing stadiums. It is kind of odd. Especially if you are there live because depending on the orientation of the football pitch you may not be able to see part of the action. I ran into that when I went to Man City/Chelsea. One of the goals was pretty much underneath our section and we had to cock our heads to the side to try to see the jumbo screen when the ball was on our end of the pitch. They changed the orientation for the game last night. I think that meant a smaller pitch but since it was just a friendly no big deal but it was much better I would say for most of the seating.

No USWNT events on the horizon, IIRC. At 35, it's highly doubtful she's on the watch list for the next cycle anyways (2020 Olympics?).

Toothless discipline, like the CFB contender who suspends a starter for the first quarter of their week one walkthrough, er exhibition game, versus the D2 squad that will get rolled for the payday.

I think it might actually be. I mean without Seba, Toronto would be in the lower half of the table but man he's incredible. I was at the Orlando game last night and a Giovinco full of confidence is the best MLS player ever. His movement is just streets ahead of anyone else. Hines and Redding didn't stand a chance.

Solo is great but she is also a hot mess at times. But yeah the suspension doesn't mean much. Only two matches scheduled while she is out. What is hurting is the termination of her contract which the players association is going to fight.

Lampard was the 'worst DP in MLS history' three months ago. Now he's got 11 goals in 13 games. Once Vieira found the right system (which took him far too long) for Pirlo and Lampard, NYCFC have looked a half decent side.

Yeah he was really looking like the worst DP ever but now not so much. Much improvement and they are the top side in the conference. So props to him and NYCFC. As far as yesterday goes though they can go go fuck themselves.

I am. You guys SHOULD win by about 4 goals but I think it'll be a little bit closer. You also need to sort your league out so it adheres to the FIFA calendar and I don't get bollocked for not predicting LUKE MISHU to start for DC UNITED.

We should, yes. Terrible habit of playing uninspired ball at the worst times keeps me on edge though. (We score as soon as I type that. Whew)

Don't follow MLS much at all to be honest. Just kind of a chore and I hate the ownership structure. Whole other subject though.

And we net our second as I'm typing. Time to shut up and enjoy.

Not arguing the logic, just the habitual nature of looking structurally to the same guy/tandem for so long.

It would help the league immensely. There are only 6 games on this weekend but 36 players unavailable due to international call ups. With only 7/8 games left of the season it means team like Colorado are significantly weaker in a game they need three points in to potentially challenge for the league.

Won our group heading into the Hex. It was expected even though some concern early in the group. Schedule wise it would have been easier to not win the group but either way we should qualify for Russia. No reason to not make it through.

Well DC United took back the Atlantic Cup from the Red Bulls after two late goals to get the draw the other day. Won't matter much though since they are currently out of the playoffs. Still have a chance though. *fingers crossed*

More and more talks about a couple ownership groups looking to put an MLS team here. I feel like we are getting closer and closer.

The local USL side just recently hired Preki as their new coach. Former MLS MVP and MLS Coach of the year and a couple seasons ago led another USL side to the USL championship so. He would be a great coach to use to transition....

Drogba not traveling with Montreal for playoff game against DC. There has been some issues between him and coach it seems. Thought it was resolved. Not that I am going to complain about him not being on the field against DC.

I was reading an article ranking the teams in the playoff and they are saying DC is hot and if you were going to bet on a team to make a run for the cup from the lower seeds that they would be the one to make a bet on.

It'll be quite a tight game I reckon. could well go the distance. Sounders and nyrb are the teams to back.

As much as I hate to say yes NYRB is probably the team to beat. But DC did win the Atlantic Cup over them this year.

He's having it right off here.

Their New York brethren are well on their way to joining them.

Lost to Mexico and lost Howard to injury. Not the way to start the Hex. Lets turn it around today against Costa Rica.

I hope Klinsmann is stubborn enough to use the 3-5-2 again and prove everyone wrong.

Yeah what was it 7-0 on agg for Toronto?

Can't argue with the teams in each conference finals.

Toronto v Seattle was my prediction in the MLS Bracket comp (albeit beating NYRB and Galaxy in the conference finals) and I stand by that.

I'd love to see my little Seba lift the cup.

That's dope. It's cool to see soccer gaining so much ground. Got to see NYCFC a few months back and it was packed.

37 year old Jermaine Jones is going to be the midfield destroyer for the US in the 2018 WC.
