    Or not.

Anyways, seeing as though this is a cricket thread, lets talk cricket shall we. How about Reiffel retiring. From sources close to him: his sister's friend, he did it because little bailey (his son) isn't very well. When we was born, his left leg was shorter then his right by a couple of cm and he was very premature. So after a bit of problems to begin with, some of the same problems are back and he decided to stick by his family.

Though the vics are going well without him. Inness is having a blinder, and it's about time Berry made runs.

    Discuss.

Australia is in deep shitsky now. South Africa won and got the bonus point, now we're 4 points off South Africa and 8 points off New Zealand with only 2 games to go.

    I can't believe South Africa's finish- 110 runs off 10 overs.

Yeh, Boucher creamed em. Rhodes is a great one day player though, batted really well and set up the innings along with Gibbs.

Anyways, i'm bored, so here is, my current World XI one day side:

S.Tendulkar - Best bat in the world in both forms of the game
    A.Gilchrist-Flashy opener,solid keeper.Allows the extra bowler
R.Ponting - Best number 3 in the world
B.Lara - When in form, can dominate the attack
S.Fleming-Solid middle order batsmen, also captain of the side
    J.Kallis - Great all rounder
C.Harris - Good bat and a great bowler in the later overs
C.Cairns - Best all rounder in the game
S.Pollock - Quality opening bowler who can bat
W.Akram -Pollock's opening partner who can be a pinch hitter
D.Vettori - Great one day spinner

Well there you have it, plenty of suprise selections, but it's my team so fuck off.

Also, with another injury to a one's player, David Shepard, if i get runs, then i most likely will get a game in the magoos. Go Me

Rhys mt friend.....you really have to seriously do something about those shins of yours.....
Its good to see you are in form too....taking 3 not bad at all...
But if you get to brag...Then I will also....

Well the last 2 games I have single handedly won the game in 1 day for my team.....
Taking 5/20 off 9 overs the first game....Absolutely ripped the heart out of their top order...
and yesterday also taking 5/20 again this time off 15 overs....absolutely slaughtered them...should of had 7 wickets though...Our slips corden are a bunch of Leppas and cant catch..
But none the less....Ive made headlines in our local paper again...and considering a move to Melbourne to play cricket...still considering playing maybe 1's and Hawthorn or 2's and 3's at Melbourne....Hard decision...

You just wait right there Rhys...
I am still deciding where I am playing....
You know I would love to come to Hawthorn to play cricket with you...that would be awesome...
But it all depends where I go to Uni and how far where I live is to where training would be...
So dont go saying anything as yet..
I just hope to keep bowling well and hopefully a 1'st game isnt to far away...

Wasn't going anywhere mate. The door is always open at a district club. They would start you off in the magoos, and you would progress your way into the ones.

    GO AUSSIES!

Finally, Australia has defeated New Zealand this summer. Imagine not beating them at all, it would be very embarassing for Australia as a whole. Anyway, Bevan fantastic innings. In his proper spot to do his job, and he did it perfectly. 102 off 95 (I think) Warney and Lee did well and Bichel got a very handy 11 runs off 5 balls, pretty good for a number 10. Warney got absolutely smacked off his first over, but I dunno how he went after that. The New Zealand comentator was giving him crap and Tony Greig hit back by saying that he is the greatest leg-spinner ever and that for so long he has scared the Kwis, and now they beat him for one over they think they own him. Great stuff! Go Aussies, now we need to do the same to South Africa, and then we're in the finals!

M I NO Runs HS Ave SR
    166 147 51 5421 108* 56.46 75.10

The strike rate of 75.10 is almost standard in todays cricket world. The average of 56.46 is yes, world class. But it is saturated by the amount of not outs. Still, i'll take an average like that. I'm betting its a hell of a lot higher when he is in his RIGHT spot, that being at 6.

One final thing, a detailed reason I found at Cricket.Org, why Bevan is not included in the test team:
Bevan also enjoyed a promising start to his Test career but his inability to counter the perception that he has a weakness against well directed short-pitched bowling has ensured that, to date, he has made far less appearances in that arena. (John Polack, July 2000) .

Just bring it, bitch. I've been defending Bevan to biased wankers for about 5 years now. And my opinions are always justified in the end. So if you don't have the guts to swallow your pride and abandon the sinking "anti-Bevan" ship like rats as the rest of your cohorts are in droves, I invite you to suggest a better player who could take Bevan's place in the team. Or a player who's made more impact in the history of one day internationals. Or even merely a player who's scored over 250 so far this VB series despite only playing in 5 of 7 games.

Well, i just reeled off a few names to you on AIM. But my obvious choice is Darren Lehmann. Boof is the leading run scorer in the Pura Cup/Sheffield Shield competition, and is continuing to make runs in both forms of domestic cricket.

How the fuck, can he have only played 9 tests? It's amazing.

I just heard from the news that Lehmann has made it into the touring squad, im guessing for the one that leaves for South Africa/Zimbabwe in a few weeks time. The man looked very happy at the news conference, although I doubt that he will get into the test team.

With the form of M Waugh very indecisive, he may just get a chance at the number 4 spot.

Taken from the herald sun, by Steve Waugh

Why Bevan is the best batsman ever to play one day cricket

".....Bevo showed why he is the best batsman ever to have played one-day cricket"
Do I need to verify a response for this? Granted, the innings he played was one of the best, but does it match the 175 that Kapil Dev made back in 1983, when India were 5/26? Viv Richards, IMO is the greatest one day batter of all time. 'The Master Blaster' would be laughing his ass off, Bevan is world class but he should not be seen as the greatest of all time.

Well that is a very good fact that you have stated there....
Hey is up there that is for sure....
But the thing I think that Steve Waugh could of been referring to was that he is the best batsman in the world at the moment at one day cricket.....And I think he has been the best ever batsman at planning his innings....He plays to the situation always...No other batsman in the world has ever done that Better that Michael Bevan I think...and I think alot of others would agree with me....Even better that Sir viv Richards and Sachin Tendulkar.....

But not as good as Rhys Adams.....

I think Steve Waugh has played his trump card, Bevan is a great planning batter but Waugh has used this to scare the others, maybe even to hide the fact that Warnie got carted around the joint.

Well SA won last night and perhaps there's a chance we wont make the finals but also a chance NZ won't make the finals.

    We better win tomorrow.

    Hopefully

And then Bevan's innings won't count for nothing other than the money Richie makes off plugging that crappy mememororbabliabA.

Getting back to the cricket... I can't believe Shaun Pollock's spanking of James Franklin last night, amazing! That's very cotsly for the Aussies, because now we need to beat New Zealand and gain a bonus point in order to qualify. It's gonna be very tough, but it's possible. Hopefully Bevo can perform some magic again. Let's see if Junior can secure his place in the OD squad, and if Gilly can find his batting form again. Punta has had a great series, I'm expecting him to do well. Marto has been alright, he'll need to try and stay in and make a big score. Tugga needs a good performance to secure his place too, coz even though he's captain, his future is looking bad. The Freak will need to pull off his freakish abilities to give us a good chance of winning. Warnie will find bowling tough, because Perth is mainly a fast-pitch, but he should do fine. Lee will be looking for a few wickets, and Bichel will hope for another amazing performance, while Pigeon will wanna keep up his consistant form.

I got everyones nickname except for Bichel and Lee!

    What?

Make that over 251 runs. When we needed a great performance, thank god the selectors picked Lehmann to play.

Lehmann is having a great comeback match. 2 wickets, 49 runs not out. Brett Lee had an unbelievable innings, and that over against Donald, especially for a bowler. Not looking good for Australia, won't make the finals.

It's almost over. Steve Waugh is going to need to make some hard decisions regarding both his place and his brothers in the one day side.

    Correction....It is over.

No more cricket??? The South African home series is in a few weeks, and the guys who have Foxtel get it on Fox Sports Live.

If only we had beaten NZ two more time instead of SA

We're only eliminated because NZ beat us 3 times to the one time we defeated them.

We weren't the worst team in as NZ had a worse NRR than us.

Also Stephen Flemming said yesterday the system needs an overhauld perhaps this is the way to force it.

    Team NRR
    South Africa +0.064
    Australia +0.102
    New Zealand -0.154

See, We're clearly not the worse side, but we've finished third. Overhaul needed?

Plus Stephen Flemming said yesterday they deliberately went slow to deny Australia a win. Is this against the spirit of the game?

According to the Laws of cricket (2000 code):

    4. The Spirit of the Game involves RESPECT for:
    Your opponents
    Your own captain and team
    The role of the umpires
    The game’s traditional values

So perhaps NZ should be docked? Well they are fining people for all stupid things these days.

    Whatya think?

Hmmm a strange one but I doubt nothing will ever come of it.

I knew when I watched it they threw the game.

And didn't their captain admit it earlier today?

Anyway, they may have beaten us by playing unfairly in one sport (despite not being the best team), but by god...just wait til the league and Rugby Tests start...oh yeah.

I actually really liked that match. The best part was the look on Kallis' face after Brett Lee's bouncer... There's definitely some bad blood between them two.

I feel sorry for the seagull though.

What really is the piont of having the Net Run rate if the positions of the ladder are based on a head to head system?? Scrap the bonus point system, it really is not needed.

All we need is RoA to come in here and give it to Australia. (Bloody Kiwi's)

Plus Stephen Flemming said yesterday they deliberately went slow to deny Australia a win. Is this against the spirit of the game?

Yes it is, but Australia knows that the spirit of the game went out with Colin Miller's career. Back in 1999 during the World Cup, the Australian's batted at a rate of 3.00 runs an over in one match to prevent the New Zealanders preceeding in the tourny. Alas, they copped a shitload of flak for it, and the situation has been repeated....and it's not a surprise that it's come back to bite us.

Can't complain about the fact the New Zealand deliberately went slow, because Australia did it in 1999. But what I can complain about, is the fact Australia didn't go through. The system is unfair.

If you look at the ladder, you will see RSA is the best team. And we beat the best team 3 times to 1, compared to New Zealands 1 to 3. That rule shouldn't be used, the net run rate should be, and Australia had a better one than New Zealand did. We deserve to go through.

New Zealand, were in a position were they could put Australia out of the finals series. They new the rules and stuck to it. I thought it was very tactically sound and clever of the New Zealand Heirachy.

They had to think whether they wanted to play South Africa or Australia in the best out of 3 final series. Obviously Australia is the better side and chose to knock them out by taking a go slow tactic.

The media makes it out to be a big thing, same as the World Cup incident with Australia. But they arn't breaking any rules, so it's a good idea.

On another note, Lehmann showed the selectors why he should have been in the side at the very start. The man is a genius with the bat and a handy left arm slow bowler.

    Thanks a lot buddy

Anyone know how the first final ended up? I would go over the baggygreen, but i can't be fucked at the moment.

Good to see the melbourne people supporting an event like the first final. The first ball would have seen about 20 people in the stadium!!!

Yeah the Melbourne public were really excited to see such a match.

But don't worry, because in a few weeks time, that empty stadium you saw, will be full of Victorians, dying to see a Sherrin being kicked around the park.

An interesting fact, this thread has the second highest amount of replies on the NW Forum ever. A fair achievement, we need 157 posts to eclipse the current record which is currently the 'Post Pictures of Yourself' thread. And that has been inactive for a month, so I'm pretty sure we can overtake it soon. C'mon Aussies c'mon!

Better yet, when do you get to play so we can see your talents on show?? Imagine having us all there, ya wouldnt know who to hit first.

It's good to see that by getting a slower rate, the New Zealanders managed to shoot themselves by putting the most half assed effort against the South Africans a few days ago. Stuff you Kiwi's, too smart to keep Australia out, too stupid to win the series.

Note, the last sentance may make no sense what so ever

You mean that you posed as Rhys and gave them his font/color....I remember some of those posts making no sense whatsoever, and they were quite funny (provided that Rhys didnt see them).

Don't listern to what Ando tells you, he'll say I was dropped from Sub-standard batting and fielding as well as bowling. He's not to be trusted. They tried to pay me $50 to play but I told them my appearance fee was $51, unfortunately they couldn't afford it so they got Michael Bevan, who only costs $2.50 and a snag in bread. God that guy's low.
Look on this page for the whole banned convo spanning people who know jack shit on cricket.

Dammit you beat me to it, and I was the only guy on that page who knew what cricket was. Its great to hear that Bevan helped Rhys overcome his leprosy, its about the only thing Bevo got his bat on for the whole summer.

The few people that rock up to his game, and they are only there to pelt bottles at him. Just like in Pakistan.
