I'm honestly surprised any owner, gm, coach wants to deal with this dude.
It's recognizing the team wasn't likely going anywhere and it's another year that Luka is having to expend that much more energy. This is a massive, massive risk no doubt, but the upside is still present because Kyrie is talented. There's a pretty good chance this blows up in their face but the other option is waiting and see if anything happens or just keep moving and move towards a likely dead end (based on how the season has played out). For now, they just lean into it more and find more weapons, keep the pace methodical and hope this duo can overpower teams at the end of games.Originally Posted by Morrison

Listening to a lot of NY sports radio since this went down, as Kyrie presented a lot to discuss.
1. He is a transcendent talent, but
2. he's also missed nearly half of the Nets games.
3. If it was purely about basketball, this would be a big win for the Mavs. But because it's Kyrie, many fans in Brooklyn are glad he's gone.

If (big if) it works in Dallas, they’ll offer him the deal he wants.
Just my opinion, but I honestly don't see him getting a 4 year max with all the headaches he brings with him.
if nothing else he'll get an offer from the lakers cause lebron will push for it if he goes long enough unsigned, probably saying he can keep him out of trouble.

I can't even fathom being on the cover of SI as a HS sophomore and somehow actually exceeding the hype. LeBron's career is remarkable. Not to get too dark but especially when you consider where he came from and how much he and his family had to struggle the first 15 years.
It's remarkable. I'm glad to have been alive during the last 40 years of basketball.

IDK if I would say LOL Nets. This is the second time they have gone for it and it didn't work. (Garnett etc) However they spend 1 year with contract issues next season and then they free up a lot of room and they have these picks ahead:

I'd agree with LOL nets based off the sheer fact that they had who they had and it went to what you outlined in less than three years. That's a pretty notable/colossal failure. Mileage may vary but there's one year where they made a lengthy playoff run.
The NBA draft at the end of the decade is going to be hilarious. Like 4 teams have half the draft picks. Roster wise it is impossible to pick them all. I wonder what will happen.
I would bet money a lot of those picks are traded elsewhere.
Of course they are. NBA draft picks aren't supremely valuable for the selections themselves, like the NFL, outside of the very top of the lottery.

Going to be extremely interesting over the next couple of years, as Bronny James a) commits to a university; b) decides whether or not he’ll be one-and-done; c) goes through the leadup to his NBA draft.
Do teams go stupid and take him higher than he might have been chosen, because of his lineage? Do they reach for the kid in the hopes the old man signs with them, plays alongside his boy into his early-forties?

Bronny will for sure get overvalued due to the true fact that Lebron will play with him.
Bronny will definitely get overvalued due to Bron stating he's gonna stick around to play against him or on the same team.
LeBron's contract is up after 24-25, which would also be after Bronny's soph season in college.

Not based on his current trajectory as a prospect, no. And not based on his dad's ultimate goal of playing with him as he's under contract with LA until at least Bronny's soph year of college.
If, and I know it's a huge if, Bronny turns pro after 1 season, I'd bet money Bron makes the Lakers draft him.
It's a massive if considering he's ranked roughly in the 40's-50's in his class. Of course he can improve, but that's a pretty gargantuan leap to a one-and-done.
But assuming he did come out after 1 year it would depend entirely on how much LA values winning at that point versus just being the James Gang show.
