Another Metal rage.
http://www.abc.net.au/rage/playlist/...2/20021221.htm
This saturday.
Cheers, Outlaw. I heard a few weeks back that Max was programming. I expect a lot of Celtic Frost and the like.
No new SYL yet. February double release 03.
SYL III and his new solo album with the all new Devin Townsend Band.
I hope he tours in 03. Cos he rocked last year very hard. But somehow I dont think he will be back til 04-05 maybe. Earlier hopefully.
Eh, that's just what I heard, hopefuly he tours sooner rather than later, I hear he puts on an awesome show. I also hear rumours of an Opeth tour, hopefully that happens.
I've heard rumours of an Opeth tour last July.
BAH!
Now, now, take it easy there, Outlaw.
Looks like a quality Rage tonight, pity I won't be around, have to tape it. Loads of Faith No More, Sepultura, Soulfly, Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss, CoC, Helmet, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Rage Against The Machine, heaps of others. Should be well worth a watch.
I'm gonna try do the Rage marathon. No going out shenanigans cos I'm getting a new tat. Last time I went out freshly inked people just kept on slapping that arm. Fuckers.
I aint heard much of the new Opeth. But from what I heard on 3HOP it sounded damn good. A real dirty, raw tight sound. Sort of a stark contrast from BP.
Cool, should be one of the better episodes in a long time. Max seems to know his stuff.
How mant tats does that make it now, man?
I have the Megadeth vid on my pc already.
And I now have 3 slayer vids recorded in Festival Hall Last year when they toured.
I was just behind front row and I can't see myself
Behind the front row? Man, at a Slayer show? You must have been getting absolutely slaughtered. Hmmmmm.
I love the Megadeth "Wake Up Dead" video. I don't really know why, it is just fucking cool. Did you see the special they did on them on Heavy Shift a while back and played all their videos?
I can't find the whole Wake Up Dead Video on the Internet.
I have most of the others tho. Here's my deth mpeg's list:
Trust
Wake Up Dead (1/2)
99 Ways To Die
Train of Consequences
A Secret Place
A Tout Le Monde
Moto Psycho
Anarchy In The UK
Crush 'Em
Go To Hell (3/4)
Hangar 18
Holy Wars
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Peace Sells
Skin o' My teeth
Sweating Bullets
Symphony Of Destruction.
Missing just a few
Is "Wake Up Dead" the Megadeth video that's on tonight?
I've only heard their cover of The Sex Pistols once but it was pretty damn cool, good to see a faithful cover.
2 tats now. I got a huge piece I drew up earlier this year but it's MIA.
Do any of you appreciate Black Sabbath round here? I picked up the Last Supper dvd today and it's really good. Something awesome to watch whilst chilling out with some beers.
Also got Black Earth by Arch Enemy. I can't believe I didnt pick some of their stuff up earlier. Great heavy stuff. I love the Amott Bros. guitar work which is why I'm on the lookout for Spiritual Beggars stuff. From what I heard of Ad Astra is an awesome album. More drinking music!
No Holy Wars is the 'deth song tonite.
Yep, I love Black Sabbath. Own "Paranoid", "Volume 4", "Master Of Reality" and "Best Of" (Double-CD). I've seen the Volume One of the DVD, the Ozzy Osbourne years, pretty impressive stuff.
Just got back from work, might stick the tape of "Rage". Caught a bit of at while I was there, pretty cool stuff.
I didnt see bugger all from Rage. I laid down for a bit of kip an hour beforehand and I woke up and went and saw some reggae-ish tripe on. I just went to bed.
I was damn keen to see the FNM vids along with the Kyuss and QOTSA vids.
I think I might have to do what you've done Crabby and get the essential first 4 albums or what ever. I have the best of but i'll be fucked if I can find the first cd. Might check out the Live at the Budokan dvd too. It's got Puffy and Zakk on it so it cant be half bad.
I found this on www.metalshop.com.au , any Machine Head fans such as myself would be no doubt interested-
" Check out the new cover for the forthcoming live Machine Head album ‘Hellalive’.
Due for release on March 10th 2003, it features the following tracks.
1. Bulldozer
2. The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears
3. Ten Ton Hammer
4. Old
5. Crashing Around You
6. Take My Scars
7. I'm Your God Now
8. None But My Own
9. From This Day
10. American High
11. Nothing Left
12. The Burning Red
13. Davidian
14. Supercharger
The CD will also include a live video of ‘The Burning Red’ as an enhanced element. All above songs were recorded live at Brixton Academy, London, December 8, 2001, with the exception of ‘None But My Own’ and ‘The Burning Red’, which were recorded live at the With Full Force Festival, Leipzig, Germany, July 7, 2002."
That Machine Head live album has been talked about on their website since July.
SO I knew it was coming.
In other news.
Anthrax has a release date for 'We've come for you all'
Edguy should have a double live album out in April (with All the clowns video on it: hopefully they say)
I knew it was to be released soon as well, I just didn't know the tracklisting and the exact time it would come out. Metalshop has some quality information, they keep it pretty up-to-date.
Interesting to see some Bob Marley and The Sex Pistols from Max the other night, though I knew he was a huge Marley fan.
You can generally find at least a few of their early efforts in larger music shops, though I picked up most of my Black Sabbath albums at a market ages ago, all for about half-price or so, which was some nice work indeed.Originally posted by NiMMERS

BTW, what are everyone's top metal albums of the year? Might send a vote in to Andy Haug for his annual best albums of the year show, which should be a great listen.
All the early ones are around 18 at JB Hi-Fi. So I'll slowly collect them. I got the remastered double live album recently of theirs called 'Past Lives' and it's fab.
Also picked up Pantera's DVD which has their past 3 home videos on it. Pretty good if you're into watching drunk guys do silly things and all that fun stuff. Might have to look into getting hold of some Judas Priest as he (Rob Halford) is on the dvd and fuck me can he hold a note!
Is it me or does the Sanity magazine only see metal as things like Rage against the machine, slipknot, tool, mushroomhead and the like?
They only see the current nu-metal and 90's thrash as metal.
No power, no progressive.
Those fuckers!
Sanity just looks after their own interests and what sells, and bands like Dream Theater and In Flames, amongst others, just don't shift a whole lot of units here, especially when compared with nu metal acts like Korn, Slipknot or Murderdolls.
BTW, Outlaw, what's the release date for the new Anthrax album? Should be a killer.
Last edited by Crabby; December 30th, 2002 at 5:52 AM.
Wait I do have a release date
I remember posting it here a few weeks back
from Anthrax.com
Anthrax's new album "WE'VE COME FOR YOU ALL" will be released in Japan through JVC on February 4, 2003 and in Europe on February 24 through Nuclear Blast. The United States, Canada, South America and Australia/New Zealand will follow shortly there after.
-Scott
Look in the metal page on the left. Each issue it'll mention Murderdolls, Stone Sour, Soulfly, Machine Head.
And thats basically it, maybe Fear Factory or another similiar band.
Dipshits, thats not metal. Well some of it is, but there are better examples of it.
I know, I've read the Sain magazine a few times, and it's just hyping releases for the latest pop or pop/rock albums, and some of the "mainstream" hard rock and nu metal acts, most of which suck major arse, not that that really surprises anyone. There was a guy who used to write a supposed "metal column" in there and he was a total tool, who you could tell knew nothing about the genre.
They do mention a few good metal acts like Fear Factory, but only generally when they're touring or something like that.
He's still there.
Plus they review In Flames' reroute. Which is a joke because they call it a compelling listen compared to their back catalogue. Which is full of shit, it's their most commercial album.
Whoracle and Colony take longer to get used to. Reroute took me one listen.
Plus it's been out for 3 months.
Eh, I thought it was a different guy, but maybe it's the same dude, I don't make a point of reading that magazine.
I must get the new Opeth, costs $40 around here, but still, from what I've heard of it is really truly amazing, have you managed to get your hands on a copy yet?
Also, looks like a Metallica tour for 2003 may be on the cards. Great news if it actually goes down.
May be an opeth tour between april 4th and 13th from what I'm hearing.
My brother got it for Xmas, I havent listened to it yet though.
Too busy with Symphony X - Odyssey. Now thats an album!
I've heard those rumours as well, the band do tour some more obscure places so it is entirely possible, fingers crossed. BTW, what's with no Aussie dates thus far for Anthrax's world tour?
Should get on the cases of some promoters, hassle them a little, but in a positive way.
Anthrax havent lined up a world tour yet.
They were touring Russia recently though.
And no Aussie dates on the Maiden tour, but they've only just started announcing them. They've started in June.
However The haunted will come downunder next April.
And I'm not sure on the status of next years MFTB.
As far as I know, MFTB is on next year, what with all the publicity it received, some other insurers have apparently become interested.
I also highly recommend you get the new Queens Of The Stone Age album, like you mentioned in another thread. They are great live as well, definitely worth checking out.
Like I said, there's got to be some promoters to hassle a little.
Yeah I have a HMV voucher, and I'm away tomorrow shopping, and I thought I could find some Blind Guardian or something, but QOTSA is probably the only half metal thing I'll find.
Plus Kyuss (Blues for Red Sun) and Fu Manchu (California Crossing) I also have, as well as both Down records, it's a good type of music.
Did you see Rage two weeks ago when Max was programming? Two QOTSA and Kyuss clips, and Holy Wars and 13 Seps/Soulfly songs.
Pity they had to ruin it with 5 SOAD tracks.
Yep, I have the Max Cavalera Rage on tape, some good variety in that episode. I love Kyuss videos especially, always a trippy, oddball watch, "Demon Cleaner" is probably the best one of their clips. Kyuss can take a little while to get into, but once you're a fan, you'll never look back.
The first two albums are also damn good, they'd be just as good buys as Songs For The Deaf anyway.
You should be able to find the latest Hatebreed album in there as well, a quality disc, could be a good buy from there.
Last edited by Crabby; December 30th, 2002 at 7:04 AM.
Hmm no to hatebreed, not a fan yet. Don't like.
I prefer melody usually and from what I've heard of Hatebreed it's punky, thrash kinda thing.
Hmm Edguy, Blind Guardian, Stratovarious, Symphony X.
*wets self*
Yep, not much melody evident in Hatebreed, though it;s quality stuff if you're in the mood for it, gotta love some sweet metalcore.
New Iron Maiden and Opeth albums next year, should be well worth the wait.
I don't really know much Edguy, any albums/tracks you would recommend in particular? As for my own recommendations, get hold of some Helloween, great speed metal. Rage are also a pretty cool thrash outfit, man.
Last edited by Crabby; December 30th, 2002 at 7:13 AM.
ALL THE CLOWNS!
JERUSALEM
TEARS OF A MANDRAKE!
oh and the perinnial Joke track Save us Now
anything off Mandrake basically.
Hmm german power metal.
German metal is rather cool, The Scorpions=great classic heavy metal. Rammstein put on a very cool live show as well.
I actually like Rage Against The Machine a lot, they were one of the first rock bands that I really got into. I still like their stuff a lot, despite the fact it doesn't seem to be very cool for metal fans these days to dig them. Shame, they have some very cool tracks back in their day. Their first album in particular is awesome.
Last edited by Crabby; December 30th, 2002 at 7:19 AM.
Edguy take Helloween as influences supposedly and Maiden, alot of Maiden.
There's half a video clip floating around Kazaa for All the clowns somewhere 44mb for 2.10min
Hmmmm, might have to check that out. That sounds cool, I really dig those bands. Should be cool.
Why did you change your location? Not living near Iron Maiden any more? I have to get hold of the Rock In Rio album still, I just haven't seen it around anywhere.
Charlotte got too expensive for me.
Ooo Rock In Rio, the hand puppets easter egg on the DVD is the funniest thing. But yes it is a good album. I started with that.
Now I live where Symphony X tells me to, hence the Odyssey status and Damnation location. Tracks from both those albums.
Dude, that sucks. At my local JB it's only $25.Originally posted by Crabby

Eh, I've only seen it in one place, and that's how much it was.
Hatebreed are cool if you like a little hardcore. Not a huge fan of the genre but I definitely dig Refused and Toe-To-Toe, amongst a few others. They've got more of a metal influence, though, hence the relatively new term "metalcore".
Stan, you'd probably be the best person to ask- How does Judas Priest's "Ram It Down" rate as an album? (especially when compared to their other work). I like JP a lot, but I'm far from an expert, and "British Steel" is the only album of theirs that I own. Just interested in picking it up sometime.
Last edited by Crabby; January 1st, 2003 at 2:49 AM.
Hatebreed are ok. Not enough variation for me though.
I picked up British Steel last week for $10 and I dig it. Might go look for Painkiller next also the Halford Live Insurrection double live one.
I own Ram It Down!
The first two tracks are awesome. The entire album is great JP, but it's my only JP album, British Steel is my next one.
Even though the song Breaking the Law is quality.
"British Steel" is fucking great, get your hands on it. I just saw "Ram It Down" really cheap the other day and wanted to know if it was worth buying, I guess it is.
Hatebreed are pretty one-dimensional, I agree, and a little samey, but they're great if you're in the right mood. Their last album was better, but damn it's hard to find around here, maybe I just need to look harder, huh?
On QOTSA news, I got Rated R not SFTD since I liked the clip for Secret better than No-one knows.
Did ya get the Edguy tracks?
Both those albums are pretty killer, their first rocks like a mother as well, it's almost all I've been listening to lately. You can generally pick up "R" reasonably cheap these days, excellent choice. I love "Auto Pilot", "Leg Of Lamb" and "Monsters In The Parasol" in particular, as well as the singles.
I downloaded these Edguy tracks-All The Clowns, Jerusalem, Golden Dawn and Fallen Angels. pretty cool stuff, I haven't listened to them much yet, but I'm liking German metal more and more it seems.
Clowns, Jerusalem, Golden are all top class songs.
The album is brilliant as an entire piece of work, even if it's not a conceptual album or anything. Fallen Angels is one of my lesser liked tracks on the album (disliked 2nd after Wash Away The poison) But it's still a fuckin awesome track.
All you need is a decent set of speakers and it rocks.
Probably would be the best album I found last year.
My albums from last year (not necessarly made last year) would be:
Edguy - Mandrake
Symphony X - V
Nevermore - Dead Heart in A Dead World
Dream Theater - Awake
In Flames - Colony
Motley Crue - Greatest Hits
4 of those albums SyX/Edguy/MC/IF I had for the 10 weeks leading upto exams, and through exams. They got me thru. Damn fine albums, all of them. None released in 2002, but I found em in 2002.
Soilwork's "Natural Born Chaos" was definitely one of the best albums I picked up last year. I bought a tonne of albums this year, not a lot of metal ones that were released in 2002, but some kick arse efforts nonetheless.
Do you like Deftones at all, Outlaw?
I forgot the soilwork album. But it's not as great as Colony IMO.
As for Deftones, bleh, Chino's voice grates on me.
Deftones are about the only so-called "nu metal" band that I like, although their last album had more of a rock/alternative feel to it than anything else. They will rock at BDO, though.
I haven't bought it but Dream Theater's "Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence" would have to be up there in the best of the year.
Not really.
If it was 50minutes long then yes it would be, but it's 90minutes long, and I feel that at least half of it is filler.
Cut the fat from the songs and you would have had a brilliant album.
From what I've heard of it Opeth's latest deserves a mention as well. I haven't listened to 3HOP for a few weeks, is Haig still taking votes for album(s) of the year?
BTW, what is the Hard Report like without him? Kerrang! radio is decent ATM, they have a few cool interviews and segments.
Since I'm in holidays I'm going to bed about 11:30 and not 10:30, so I'm not listening to any metal radio at the moment.
Dungeon's A Rise To Power would be the Aussie release for the year.
What do you think of Cog? I think they show a lot of promise for the future, despite some people claiming that they're too heavily influenced by Tool and others. I look forward to seeing them at BDO in a few weeks.
Jerk seem to be getting pushed pretty heavily ATM also.
I'm trying to decide which Hammerfall album to buy right now. I haven't heard a song by them that I dislike so far. Stronger Than All and The Unforgiving Blade=
I need some Blind Guardian, too. Fuck, I need power metal in general. The only power metal albums I own are 3 Iced Earth CDs. Anyone have any suggestions?
Edguy - Mandrake
BG's Nightfall in Middle Earth is pretty cool also.
IE used a fair few thrash elemts also.
I don't own any Hammerfall.
That's true. Hammerfall sounds more like straightforward metal than Iced Earth. I haven't heard any Hammerfall that sounds thrash yet.Originally posted by Aussie_Outlaw

I don't own any Hammerfall.
Probably sounds kinda weird, but some of Iced Earth's songs remind me of GWAR. Don't get me wrong, Iced Earth could outplay GWAR any day, but it sounds like they use the same brand of guitars or something.
Eh, I probably sound like an idiot. I'm going to bed. Thanks for the suggestions.
Yeah now that you say it, I hear alot of Gwar in IE.
But seriously Edguy, I've written a fair bit of good songs by them in the past few posts here. Look at this page.
But their older albums are average. Mandrake rocks though.
Hammerfall, eh? Legacy of Kings would be your best choice; classic power metal. Renegade is known in many circle as Renegayde, and Crimson Thunder has some dumb songs, like In Memoriam. Hearts on Fire is probably the best things off the album.
After hearing the vocals on the title track, I can understand why. The song rocks, even though the vocals are a bit annoying.Originally posted by Megawozniak
Renegade is known in many circle as Renegayde,
Anyone here dig Zimmers Hole?
It's awesome shit.
2 albums released. They're a metal spoof comedy band.
First album was really goofy and heavy but their latest one is almost like a tribute to every popular heavy genre through the ages. Man I hope when Devin tours here next he brings ZH with him.
Nah, can't say I have. I gather they're worth checking out.
BTW, I got this from Zakk Wylde's official website, damn I hope it happens, looks like it will, people-
" Zakk and BLS will be hitting the road in April. First stop will be Tokyo on April 17th, 18th and Osaka on the 19th with Australia and New Zealand dates to follow. In February."
Zakk is an awesome guitarist, and I like Black Label Society, so it'd be one show well worth checking out, fingers crossed that it works out anyway.
Cool.
Hopefully they make they're way up to Newey. Probably not. I might look into their soon to be released dvd.
Zakk Wylde is an amazing guitarist, he'd be great to see live. I didn't know they had that much of a following here, but I'm not complaining, they would definitely rock.
Well Stone Gossard's 'Brad' came to Newey. So anything is possible.
Did you go see? They came to Sydney, but I was way too busy to go and catch them, though I'm not that familiar with most of their material.
I've got no idea what they sound like. But they're a well known band in the alternative scene.
I'm getting into Crowbar lately. Kirk Windstein aka The Hulk aka The Cat is easily my favourite riffmeister at the moment.
I've held off for the past few years getting 'Reinventing the Steel' by Pantera as I've heard it sucks. Well it doesnt suck.........but I will describe it as an over-produced average effort. Wheres the raw power and feeling I'm used to? That release is surely not in Pantera's style.....stick to what you know fellas and write some dirty heavy shit with memorable riffs.
The Hulk scenes on the Pantera DVD are priceless.
Oh for sure. I reckon all the cameo appearances and the road crew bits are way better than the stuff on the band. Dude's like The Package Bobby are classics.
Kirk Windstein is hilarious.Originally posted by Aussie_Outlaw
The Hulk scenes on the Pantera DVD are priceless.
The part with him whistling in front of a mirror with Kiss makeup on has me laughing my ass off every time.
Did anyone read at blistering that Dimebag and Vinnie have formed a new band called New Found Power with an old Jerry Cantrell bassist and Patrick Lachman (ex-Halford)? Interesting prospect I reckon well worth checking out.
Also, Dimebag had this to say about Pantera's status...
"It's really weird, but this is the clear-headed, honest truth: [PANTERA/DOWN vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown] up and left us hangin' and won't let us know their intentions or future plans. For the last 20 years, my brother Vinnie and I have put our heart and soul into PANTERA and we never thought this situation would ever happen to us. By now I thought for sure we would've done another record, but they don't seem to care how it affects Vinnie and I, or the road crew or, most of all, all the PANTERA fans that have been so fuckin' awesomely great to us for so long. We've made several attempts to talk to those guys and they keep putting us off. This is not a situation we've created — it's a situation we've been forced into.
Bottom line, for Vinnie and me it's all about the music, kickin' ass and havin' a good time. So we've got together with some of our close buds and formed a new band called NEW FOUND POWER. The record is almost done and will be out soon. We've put 110 percent into it, just like we always do, so I guarantee you won't be let down."
"
Yeah I just read it 5 minutes ago on another website.
And Dan Spitz/Dave Ellefson/Nicko McBrain have a side project which shows promise also.
Opeth tour confirmed. The dates are-
10th April - The Arena (Bris), 11th April - The Corner (Melb), 12th April - Uni Bar (Adel), 13th April - Metro (Sydney).
Awesome news.
Is the Corner an over 18 Gig?
Or are they doing all ages gigs?
Plus when do tickets go on sale.
I could just goo look at UM.com
I don't know, just saw the dates on the Opeth website, I'm actually trying to hunt around for more information myself, I think the dates and venues are the only thing announced thus far.
Cool. Might have to get into contact with some friends of a friend to see if they wanna go to The Metro to see them. It'd be cool if they bought some Swedish friends as well to tour. Like Meshuggah or In Flames or someone like that.
Speaking of Meshuggah...fuck 'Nothing' is some of the most complicated, unconventional and intricate music I have ever heard.
Yep, it'd be a damn cool live show, I've read reviews of their shows and apparently they're amazing to watch live. Might see you there, man.
No Supportng Acts announced?
I can think of at least 5 Aussie death metal bands that would jump at the chance.
Hmm Earth would be good.
Alchemist are rumoured to be the support from what I hear, that would be pretty damn cool.
Have you heard the rumour that BDO promoters are trying to get Audioslave, Metallica and Stone Temple Pilots to headline BDO 2004? Apparently they said they couldn't play the event this year but all said that it's a distinct possibility that they'd be available to play it next year.
Anthrax should come out.
They'd get a nice Aussie fanbase if they played where QOTSA played this year. Headline or 2nd headline.
But they won't headline, they're not well known enough
I hear QOTSA might be back for another tour later in the year, that would be pretty damn cool.
I'd love to see Anthrax live as well.
Yep Anthrax would own.
Probably my favourite band to see since 'deth packed up and retired.
Have you seen the cover for the new Anthrax cover yet? It's not too bad, and it's done by Alex Ross, the guy that does a lot of comic book cover art. People have been saying that the new songs kick ass, so I'm gonna buy it....whenever it comes out. Hopefully they don't push the US release date back any farther.
Until then, I'm still trying to decide which of these CDs to buy:
Mayhem - Grand Declaration of War
Dying Fetus - Destroy the Opposition
Hammerfall - Legacy of Kings
Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness
In Flames - Whoracle
Cannibal Corpse - Gallery of Suicide or Gore Obsessed
Iced Earth - The Dark Saga
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
Deicide - Once Upon the Cross
I'll probably end up buying them all eventually, but I can't make up my mind which one to get now. And the local music store seems to carry everything except black metal, so I couldn't find Mayhem or Immortal at all (possibly because of suspected National Socialist stuff). Woe is me.
I got Whoracle for Christmas, nice cd, Jotun Owns. I have the delux edition with the extra track and the bonus shit.
The Anthrax cd is supposed to come out sometime early Feb 2003.
Do you have HammerFall's Crimson Thunder, that cd is pretty good, nothing on Edguy's Mandrake and Blind Guardian's Nightfall in Middle Earth.
So is your Whoracle CD the Black Ash Inheritance one? I want to find the version that has Golitahs Disarm Their Davids on it.
I'm thinking about getting Crimson Thunder. The Unforgiving Blade is a kickass song. Still haven't checked out Edguy, though.
I'm assuming Nightfall in Middle Earth has Nightfall on it...good song. Does it have Blood on My Hands, too?
No the In Flames cd has "Clad In Shadows '99" as well as backgrounds, winamp skins and a video of Jotun.
For Crimson Thunder, Hearts on Fire and Riders on the storm are classic power metal songs, the video for Hearts on Fire owns.
Yes BG's Nightfall has Nighfall on it, but no it doesn't have blood on my hands.
And Edguy Own
Talking about Hair metal they just ran the episode in the classic album series on Def Leppard's Hysteria.
Looks to be a nice album.
Immortal - Sons of Northern DarknessOriginally posted by Nemesis
Until then, I'm still trying to decide which of these CDs to buy:
Mayhem - Grand Declaration of War
Dying Fetus - Destroy the Opposition
Hammerfall - Legacy of Kings
Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness
In Flames - Whoracle
Cannibal Corpse - Gallery of Suicide or Gore Obsessed
Iced Earth - The Dark Saga
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
Deicide - Once Upon the Cross
I'm eagerly awaiting Marduk's next album "World Funeral". Aswell as Necrophagia's "The Divine Art Of Torture" which I swear they originally said would be out last year.
And if anyone is interested, you can hear two samples or so from Marduk's up-coming album at their official website. They're also doing a tour for the album too. They better come to England after they decided not to do the London Show on the Danzig tour.
I'd buy a few at once, go for:Mayhem - Grand Declaration of War
Dying Fetus - Destroy the Opposition
Hammerfall - Legacy of Kings
Immortal - Sons of Northern Darkness
In Flames - Whoracle
Cannibal Corpse - Gallery of Suicide or Gore Obsessed
Iced Earth - The Dark Saga
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
Deicide - Once Upon the Cross
Immortal - S.O.N.D
I'd opt for some earlier Cannibal Corpse stuff, if you don't already have it.
Mayhem - Grand Declaration...Although Mysteriis....Is probably better if you don't already have it.
Then if you can still afford it, get the Deicide CD. Can't say I'm too keen on any of the other bands you mentioned there.
Iced Earth's Dark Saga I think you should go for although I reckon their 'Something Wicked...' albums better.
Better still, why not get the 3cd 'Alive in Athens' album? Probably one of the best live metal albums I've heard since Maiden's 'Live After Death'.
Failing that I'd go with the Hammerfall CD. Just got the 'Crimson Thunder' CD recently and its damn fine. Better than 'Glory to the Brave' and 'Legacy..'.
Check out my book ... Please
http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Disquiet...1069820&sr=8-2
Outlaw, I had a look at the list of albums you own, and I'm just interested, what's on Machine Head's "Year of The Dragon" EP? Any quality previously unreleased or live tracks on it?
Dude...let me inform you on the atrocity of 'Year of The Dragon'. It's shite. B-Sides that REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY suck. Full on underbaked songs that sound like they were written by a band who just took up their instruments.
Cool, thanks for the information, though I wasn't interested in actually buying it, even if it is still available.
Picked up Judas Priest's "Ram It Down" recently, loving it.
Anyone know when Opeth's new album is coming out??
I figured this should go here:
Anyone ever noticed the many, many stupid reviews on amazon? Especially when it comes to metal, here's the latest that I've seen.
Talking about Hlidhskjalf
Burzum is ambient?! So dated?! Plesently (heh) Pagan?! What the...Reviewer: A music fan from London
I liked the idea of "dark ambient" music, and this was recommended so I gave it a try. This album was apparently recorded in a prison and it shows. The sounds are sooo dated, seemingly recorded in the early 80's not the turn of the millenium. "Die Liebe Nerphus" is plesently pagan, but the rest is.. its just not good, infact its silly. And the CD only lasts about 30 mins. Im told that Filosofem is the best Burzum album.
And ok, it's Burzum - as far as I'm aware I'm his only 'real' fan on the board. So here is something far more amusing.
Talking about Battles In The North
Yes, that's right folks, somebody had the nerve to compare c.o.f to Immortal.Battles in the north was on first listen a major disappointment. I say this because the production of the recordings are poor and low quality. The guitar sounds very muffled and unclear, which did not enable me to enjoy a recommended band. In contrast bands such as Emperor have excellent recordings where all parts of the song are clearly audible and discernible from each other. On a further listen to the battles in the north cd, I realised that this band have attempted to aim for complexity and technique in their playing style and in the process forgot to write songs!!
Again bands such as Emperor and Cradle of filth marry technical precision and exemplary songwriting ability. In future I would recommend borrowing an Immortal recording from a friend before shelling out on any recordings of theirs.
Wow...
Anthrax - March 7th - Glasgow Garage - I'll be there.
Nahhhhh ... High n Dry & Pyromania are far more rockinOriginally posted by Aussie_Outlaw
Talking about Hair metal they just ran the episode in the classic album series on Def Leppard's Hysteria.
Looks to be a nice album.
They did The Sex Pistols- "Never Mind The Bollocks....." a few weeks ago, that was a pretty entertaining show, found out loads of information I never knew.
Also, seeing as I know you're a Judas Priest fan, and I already own "British Steel" and "Ram It Down", what other albums of theirs would you highly recommend?
