Very pleased with the growth Tenn showed this year. Everyone predicted a 7-5 record but of course after starting the year 1-4 that seemed like a dream. But 6-1 later here we are at 7-5. Seems the players are starting to buy in to Pruit's system.
Bama losing to Auburn wasn't the biggest surprise. The surprise was more that it was such a fireworks display. Glad Bama lost though. Them even being on the bubble was making too many people borderline suicidal.
Not that I feel like anyone has a shot at LSU anyway though.
So if Georgia beats LSU and OSU and Clemson win their title games like they are supposed to I would say it's a lock for it to be OSU, Clemson, Georgia, and LSU. If LSU wins then the 4th team comes down to the Big 12 or Utah if they win the pac 12 right? I would think Oklahoma is the team if they win but it's a discussion if Baylor and Utah win.

This is how I'm leaning. I like the pros - innovative offense, consistent success, very active/aggressive recruiter - but the biggest con - huge leap from AAC to ACC/Nationally prominent program - is more than a little scary. Hoping the former becomes much bigger than the latter, and early feedback has been encouraging.
If push comes to shove between the pros/cons though, I think the tie breaker will ultimately be that I can't deny believing that what used to be this guy..

The CFP is obviously way better than the old BSC system because otherwise the undefeated defending national champion Clemson would probably be left out this year, however, I will say that the conference championship games sure were a lot more interesting and important in the old system.
It seems OSU and LSU were all but assured a spot in the CFP even if they lost yesterday and as a very casual college football fan it made me flip over to the games a few times to check the score but it just wasn't must see tv because of that.

A little bit of smack talk around these parts the last couple days as Tenn threw their weight around to get promoted to the Gator Bowl over Kentucky. Apparently AD Fulmer called the SEC and bitched when he found out we were going to the Music Shitty Bowl again.
But I don't really get the big deal. We play in the same conference, in the same division, had the same record and we won the head to head. Why shouldn't it be Tenn instead of Kentucky?
When the list an order of bowls for a conference thats basicly the draft order. Those bowls get to take who they want.
This is outside of the playoff. And the new year 6 bowls I think are contracted to go with the playoff rankings to fill their spots.
It is actually just a ranking of the order that the bowls get to select their teams. Not a ranking of conference standings. Bowls only exist to sell tickets. If a school can sell more tickets, why not pick them?

It's a tough question because Burrow looks like a fucking robot programmed to throw touchdowns right now. But it's also hard not to notice he doesnt have the most accurate arm at times and that shit matters 10× more in the NFL when your receivers and their dbs are all the same speed.
There is no really 'wrong' answer between the two, and I'm convinced they both have all the tools to be successful at the next level.

Great first half tonight. Obviously LSU made some adjustments during halftime to effectively shut Clemson down and were successful. I guess most people knew Clemson might be a little overmatched but they certainly put up a fight and unlike LSU they have a really good shot at being right back here next year...because they always are.

The last few years MSU has been pretty awful, but Harbaugh is only 3-3 against them. The Spartans have owned the Michigan rivalry since 2008, but Michigan had won the last couple years.

We really need an eight team playoff to stop the repeated Alabama/Clemson domination, followed by the usual 3-4 teams (OSU, Georgia, B12 winner, Pac-12 winner) being considered for the other two spots. I’ve long said that the gap between 8/9 is a lot more natural than that of the 4/5 teams.
The winners of the Power 5 divisions get automatic berths plus three wildcard spots. This year especially, why does an 11-0 Coastal Carolina not deserve a spot?
Imagine if, back in the day, Boise State v Oklahoma (2007 Fiesta Bowl) were but one of the quarterfinal matchups for the National Title?
8 teams would ruin the regular season even more. 6 of the 8 teams would be the same every year.
Personally, I wish we went back to the old bowl system and then just had a +1 after the bowls. That would solve the issue like 95% of the time.
I could easily do a "Final Four" too. But after the bowls. They have to make the bowls matter again because that is what makes the regular season matter.
Do the bowls matter less because of the playoffs? Or because so many top players are skipping them to avoid the risk of getting injured and missing the draft payday.
How does adding pretenders stop Alabama/Clemson/Ohio St. from being head and shoulders above everyone else?
If you want to shake up the power structure there needs to be ways found to spread the talent pool. Scholarship limits, financial redistribution, etc. Anything to keep those top two or three programs from having the number 1 & 2 offensive tackles in a single class or from locking in top 5 QBs in endless consecutive seasons or from hoarding 3/4's of the top WRs for half a decade or more.
I think the two are related. If you are not in the "Final Four" the games don't mean anything to the players. Players are not skipping the Semifinals.

The playoff games and national championships will be continue to be boring as hell until the NCAA somehow gets more opportunities for programs not including Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. They run a monopoly that doesn't allow other teams to break the glass ceiling college football has made for itself.

That's why I said "somehow". I really don't know, but there is no cycle of differing champions. The playoffs hasn't given other teams access to the championship like we thought it would. Teams like Alabama get 4 star recruits willing to sit for three years to get a shot to play for them while 5 star recruits basically ignore every school outside of the SEC and ACC, with the exceptions being Ohio State, Oklahoma, etc.
Who really thought the playoffs were meant for that?

No matter how many teams are allowed in the playoff, there will be cries that the 2-3 teams that missed out should've been there too.
I prefer them to go back to the BCS. If you look at it they got it right every single time. There was maybe one time that you could have made an argument.
Like someone said earlier, the regular season is so much more fun in football than it is in basketball. NCAA basketball 1 plays 4 all the time it seems like and it means nothing because they are both going to get in the tournament and be a high seed.
The BCS was decent. This system is okay. Nothing is exactly perfect and at least we are getting playoff games. I would like to see an 8 team playoff. Sure there will always be teams that say they should have gotten in but that happens no matter how many teams you let in. I don't think 8 teams takes away from the regular season like some people would think. I think more than that would. When you get down to the like top 10 teams or so typically a drop off after 8. With 8 teams the big 5 get their champs in and like someone else pointed out group of 5 can have the top ranked team in and then a couple wildcards. That gives teams from the big 5 that maybe only lose one game to the conference champ a chance to get in there. Or even possible two group of 5 teams but I doubt it.
This was such a whack year I would have been fine without a playoff or a champion being named. I would have been fine with a bunch of bowl games. When you have have conferences starting their seasons at different times and games being missed and not a chance to make them up so you not everyone is playing the same number of regular season games it is just hard in my view to do a playoff. You could argue that Ohio State would have had a better chance had they played a whole season. Or they could have had injuries or whatever and not done better. Who knows. Just such a whack year. I know people always want a champ but with all the craziness I was just happy to see football. My Ole Miss team looked good. If we had defense probably end up with a slightly better record. And hell we took it to the champs. That was a winnable game but again no defense and Alabama was clearly the championship caliber team but what a game. Kiffen recruited some defense players so lets see what he can do with this team moving forward.
Absolutely but at this point the reasoning to expand the playoffs isn't to make all the schools happy but to prevent the ratings from eventually dipping when the fans start to get bored of the same 4 teams every year. And in the world of football where any team can win any given game going to 8 teams would just make the product better and more interesting to the casual fan and the hardcore alike.
I mean I used to LOVE college football but this is getting repetitive as hell and I just don't care like I used to. More hardware for Saint Nick. Whoopity fuckin do.
