Who Made The Most Out Of The Least?

We've seen wrestlers turn chicken shit into chicken salad and I want to know who you think did it the best.

For me it has to be Macho Man. Some of the stuff he was given had no right to make it as far as it did. Teaming with Zeus for example. How about the Macho King?? Even in that era it was weird because you had this guy who elevated the IC title, had one of the best runs in the World title picture and then closes it out with a brilliant match with Ultimate Warrior. Then turned babyface, had a goofy ass wedding where a snake jumped out of a box (was it over??)

The Miz kills anything he's involved with.

Sami Zayn is the same way. His match with Johnny Knoxville was one of the highlights of that years WrestleMania.

Also Zack Ryder had a good spell as well getting himself over thanks to his Long Island Iced Z series.

Macho Man is a solid candidate. I am probably holding against him that fact that he came from a wrestling family. I look at that as a head start that others didn't have.

Mick Foley was not that talented in the ring, but man, he could talk and take a bump. I always think of him when the category of overachieving expectations comes up.

I also consider Bruno Sammartino to have made the most out of the least. A sickly child who nearly starved to death, and who admitted he was overmatched when it came to actual wrestling ability, he made the most out of his charisma and brawling style, and he could have a great match with anyone because he understood what the crowd would react to.

I guess the answer to this question has to depend on how you define "the most" and "the least"

You could argue that the Rock deserves mention, as he grew up on welfare, to being at the top of the entertainment industry now.

Vince grew up in a trailer park not knowing his father, and became a (disgraced) billionaire. I can respect the accomplishment without respecting the human being.

I just mean from a wrestling standpoint but if you want to expand it to someone who came from nothing and become a mega star like The Rock, go for it. But yeah this is mainly just about talent who shouldn't have gotten over doing something and they made it 100x better.

I mean if you're going to hold it against Macho from coming from a wrestling family you absolutely have to hold it against The Rock for sure.

I think Bret Hart deserves a nod. I really think he was the MVP of the New Generation Era. It didn't matter if it was a guy like Diesel who didn't have very many matches but was given a huge push especially in 1994/1995. Matches against midcarders like Hakushi, 123 Kid, Pierre, and the fact he made that Jerry Lawler feud work including that dumbass Kiss My Foot Match....A cornerstone IMO of the Attitude Era as well, he made people even in the US cheer him over The Patriot lol.

For sure, it makes sense to treat Rock the same light as Macho Man - perhaps even moreso as 3rd generation vs 2nd generation.

If you want to keep this to mostly a discussion about which talent embraces whatever they're given to makes the best of it, and made it better than anyone else could have done, then it's hard to keep Bray Wyatt off that list.

And of course, Golddust was given some terrible shit, yet he made it magical.

I would also argue that Daniel Bryan deserves at least a shout out. Guys like him and Eddie Guererro who mix it up, change their character but nevertheless, always entertain, no matter who they're up against.

All great shout outs. Especially Eddie Guerrero who I feel like if you watched him in WCW and WWF you know this guy was given some things that on paper didn't seem like they would work. Imagine in 1999 you said "Eddie Guerrero paired up with Chyna is going to make Eddie a household name"

Goldust.....The fact this guy was able to be the top heel probably in the entire business at that time to within a year or so become a solid babyface as well, speaks volumes. Then you think of some of those tag-teams with Booker T or more recently R-Truth....well that wasn't recent but recent enough lol.

Bray Wyatt....Brilliant. Again on paper some of that stuff shouldn't have worked and I'm not even talking about the Firefly Funhouse stuff.

Daniel Bryan....Another one like Eddie where he was already one of the best wrestlers, he just needed to level up on character. DB became one of the most over wrestlers of the modern era borrowing Diego Sanchez's "YES" chant lol

I guess the answer has to be the Gobbledy Gooker. Him or the Godwinns.
