We're back baby!
For those unfamiliar, this is a simulation style roleplay game that takes place in a booking simulator called Total Extreme Wrestling 2020. Players create characters and work with the booker (me) to try and make their wrestler successful. That success can be measured in whatever way(s) you choose. You come up with storyline ideas or promos, and we see what we can do with your characters as they interact with the rest of the wrestling world. I will be a more hands off booker this go around, letting the computer do most of the work. So to ensure success, you'll want to be at least somewhat active in coming up with ideas or pitches, posting promos, or making requests.
Past versions of the game:
Your Wrestling Career: World Tour https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?t=136760
This was a shortish version of the game, designed to be a time filler while a whole other game was on hiatus. Set in 2008, original stars like The Homeless Man (a literal homeless man), V.F. Stein (a wrestling Frankenstein's monster made up of fallen jobbers), and Maelstrom (a Canadian submission machine) tangled with the likes of Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, and Sting on a tour around the world.
Your Wrestling Career 2010 https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?t=138877
This was set in the same universe as the world tour, but was run through TEW 2010, with many of the original characters carrying over to a full time wrestling promotion, Rajah Championship Wrestling. With different game mechanics, this version saw V.F. Stein get married to Awesome Kong, Maelstrom star in a lighthearted romantic-ish comedy with Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon, and the Homeless Man sign a multi-million dollar contract resulting in a name change and new gimmick that propelled him to being the last RCW Champion before the end.
YWC TEW 2010 2.0 https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?t=145388
After my computer died, I restarted the previous version with largely the same continuity. Familiar faces were joined by the likes of The Cewshinator (a Goldberg-esque dominator), Lumber Jack Jones (a wrestling lumberjack of course), and Noah Braken (high-flying sensation/heart throb). A new version of TEW came out and we rebooted, leaving John Morrison as the final RCW Champion in this universe.
YWC: Rewrite History https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?t=146176
Running on TEW 2013, this version started off in 1994 and ran into 2011! In what is probably the most prolific version of the game, original characters and real world characters carried RCW to being the undisputed #1 company in wrestling. We had so many top stars we did a brand split and operated a successful developmental promotion. Our final show was Oblivion 13, headlined by Stone Cold Steve Austin defeating Maelstrom for the RCW Title and the Undertaker defeating RCW original Garrett Darby for the World Title. Some stand out characters were "Union" Jack Churchill (a towering ideal of British class and power), Garrett "Beast-Man" Darby (who started as a caveman and morphed over years into one of the pillars of the industry), and John Douglas (in universe, the greatest Black professional wrestler of all-time).
YWC: The Golden Years https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?t=150997
Once again with TEW 2013, this time we went back to 1987 and made it to 1999. Featured characters this go around included Theo Logan (leader of the most powerful trio in wrestling, The Vanguard, along with Magnus Svensson and Anthony Bulotti), Kris Destiny (a vile, evil man who relished violence and pain), and Galaxy Lazarus (a time traveler from the distant future stuck in our time). This version was wild. We had an nWo takeover near the end that basically resulted in another brand split, with nWo branded titles and shows.
YWC: The War Rages On https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?t=151786
The final (to date) incarnation, set in 2001. Instead of RCW, this time we took over the nearly dead WCW and tried to battle against the WWF with mixed results. We finally managed a Nitro over RAW ratings victory in 2005, shortly before the game came to an end. I don't have as many memories of this version, despite it being the most recent (2017, wow, 7 years ago!), but we had originals like Michael Brando and Kyle Grey tangling with Kurt Angle, DDP, and Eddie Guerrero. We also had a character named Mega Clown, that I think was a 7 foot tall monster clown.
This version will be set in 2010. Rather than creating our own company and working our way up, or taking a struggling WCW and revitalizing it, for the first time ever, we're taking over the evil empire itself, World Wrestling Entertainment. If anybody would like to explore the indies, Japan, or TNA (be warned, this is Hogan era TNA), we can make that happen, but we won't have control over creative, so it will just be a matter of reporting on what the characters are doing rather than deciding things. In WWE however, we will come up with stories and angles for our 3 brands, RAW, SmackDown!, and ECW, and see how far we can get the user characters. Our initial group of players will come in with the reality tv contest style NXT (to get an idea of the characters), then spin into the Nexus (to try to get everybody over in a big angle). Anybody that wishes to not be included in NXT/Nexus, please let me know, no worries. We'll figure something else out for you.
To sign-up, please copy/paste and fill out the following sign-up sheet:
Name: Nickname(s): Gimmick: (Please include a short description of your character's gimmick. This can and likely will evolve over time, but what's our starting point? Please include if your characters wears a mask or other relevant distinctive/marketable attributes, whether part of your on screen character or your behind the scenes background)
Birth year: (please keep in mind this is set in 2010) Specialty: (everybody gets to pick one specialty to start. This is an area where your character excels. It can be as general as saying they are very athletic or a good hand. Or it can be specific like a tag team specialist that gets boosts to tag matches. It can be physical, like being really, really ridiculously good looking, or it can be that a character is great on the mic. There are lots of ways I can implement this bonus, so please feel free to be creative. This is meant as a general opportunity to give your character a boost in the direction you want to go in) Finishers: (Please include one finisher and one signature move) Gender: (the game has male and female options, more nuance than than can be added during gameplay if wanted, but this determines if your character is in the men's division or the women's division) Sexuality: (heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual are the provided options, and it applies to your characters romantic partners outside of kayfabe. A character can be in a relationship with a woman, but then play a gay character on television or vice versa.) Race: (white, black, Asian etc.) Nationality: (American, Nigerian, etc.) Hometown(s): (This is a city or region where a character has a strong affiliation. They could have been born there or lived there, but they can expect a hometown crowd reaction when working there. You can have more than one of these, but a single identifiable hometown will make the positive fan reaction more intense) Style: (Options are regular, entertainer, comedy, powerhouse, impactful, striker, brawler, hardcore, psychopath, luchador, high flyer, technician, technician flyer, technician striker, daredevil, MMA crossover, or non wrestler. This is your characters wrestling style. Each one has some associated benefits and detriments, but I honestly don't really remember them. I remember them being mostly common sense though. Comedy wrestlers have a hard time in main events for example, or a powerhouse character that gets beat will suffer more from that loss in the eyes of the fans than an entertainer in the same position.) Body type: (options are average, skinny, toned, muscular, ripped, flabby, bulky, obese. This will affect stamina, sex appeal, how intimidating the character is, etc.) Height: in American feet and inches please Weight: in American pounds please Aspirations: (I assume most characters will be wrestlers, but if your character has other interests, such as becoming a color commentator or a manager, this is where to note that and it might come up later) Former injuries: (this is to determine your wrestlers physical condition. Somebody with a bum knee is more likely to suffer a knee injury and miss time for example. Feel free to leave this blank, it adds flavor, but there's not really an upside that I can think of game wise)
Please feel free to ask questions or edit your information, just please let me know if things change in your initial sign-up post, so that when I go through and create all the characters and add them to the game world that we have everybody as accurate as possible. I think that's it. If I think of anything else to add later, I will make a note of it in thread. It will probably be a few days before I finalize the game world, but let's see those characters!
