Okay I know I’m starting this thread very early before PLE but a huge event for us here in Scotland.
My brother works for the company OVO where Clash at the Castle is being held at the OVO Hydro. Messaged him this morning but hoping to get a staff discount from him for tickets. Fingers crossed I get that!
Also fingers crossed Drew leaves a World Champion by the end of it!
So yeah umm….discuss.

Either way, this would be awesome if Drew does win the title again and gets a real run with the belt.
I got a feeling that the price for those tickets are going to be nuts like Mania Combo nuts, because people will shell it out, however a lot of fans will not shell it out and they don't want a half empty stadium for AEW to laugh at. Its better to do a small venue, make sure you have a sell out and charge ass loads to a wrestling starve UK crowd that you made wrestling starve five years ago and cut ties with last year.

Ok I was just reminded by about 20 nobodies I don't follow on social media arguing that it was actually ALL IN this year that was apparently affected by Taylor Swift being in town so instead of aiming for 70-80k like last year they're only selling about 40k.

The worst thing the WWE could do is repeat Mania with Drew. I want to see Drew get the win and not have any bullshit in terms of CM Punk costing him the match or something goofy backfiring with Judgement Day and Drew wins by DQ.
One of wrestling's biggest negatives is trying to get too much heat on something. Overcooking it basically. The shit gets so dried out so quickly it's like fuuuuuck this I'm out. You have Drew win at Clash the crowd erupts, the people at home are happy with it as it gives the CM Punk match something even more at stake than ego.

This was a lot better than the French PLE for me. Crowd was loud but didn't hijack shit.
BADGE AT THE CASTLE 2024
It was a bigger crowd but I was slightly more subdued for me personally the craziness of the selfies and title belts last night. I was a bit knackered as been having joints with my friend playing chess in the afternoon.
Anyway, when I came to the arena I did see a crowd starting a “Ohh Dreeew McIntyre! YEET! dualling chant which was pretty cool. Also someone in full Fiend Bray Wyatt get-up and a goth chick next time to him. I didn’t get a selfie this time but did That guy probably wins the best costume after the Dudley Boyz guys last night. I got to the bar/kitchen and got some food then went to the show.
Opening match with Cody and AJ was a lot of fun. Cody was again waaay over. He’s well loved over here! Also some fun chants like “There’s only one Ricky Hatton!” Also, one half of the crowd saying “We want Tables!” while the other half of the crowd were saying “Fuck them!” chant lol. Some nice spots with the tacks and chairs. Personally thought the finish was a bit weak with Styles being handcuffed and quitting out of fear when Cody was about to hit him with the steps. Everything leading up to it was fun though.
The Sexy Scottish Spooky Witches were over as hell too for obvious reasons lol. Anyway the ladies worked hard in the triple threat mainly double teaming Jade. Speaking of Jade, she still needs a bit of work as blew a spot or two plus looked a bit gassed. At least the witches win to a great ovation. Although that would be the only Scottish success of the night! Very happy for them though as felt they never really got a fair shake before. Hopefully a better run for them this time.
Gable/Zayn was of course a lot of fun. The crowd kept chanting “WE WANT OTIS!” and were begging for him to pull the trigger on Chad. However it didn’t quite happen and the crowd were a bit disappointed to say the least! I do hope they pull the trigger on him soon though. Also Zayn’s entrance is hella fun to see live! ThereÂ’s still mileage with Zayn as IC champ. Oh yeah, one guy in front of me said to Chad “He’s just trying to be Kurt Angle! I guess… It’s truuuuuee!!
Bayley vs Niven was next. Niven didn’t quite get the reaction the witches got but it was still a pretty good reaction. Anyway her and Bayley had a pretty good match and Chelsea was just funny keeping the comedy going. The crowd around me all pissed themselves when she came back out under a luchador mask!!
Now silly me being a bit tired left after the last match thinking there was an intermission like last night. Of course I briefly forgot this was a live PLE!! Needed to get out for fresh air and a smoke as was rather hot and stuffy in there.
By the time I had gotteb back to my seat, I had missed the entrances but it is what it is. Anyway the crowd were really pulling for Drew to win and one guy in front of me in the taxi queue later who said this was his Wrestlemania so was pulling for Drew to win. Unfortunately he was left disappointed.
However, when I did get back to the match though, I saw poor Priest gets stuck in the ropes a la Test/Eddie Guerrero at Mania. Some of the crowd around me were like “Nah fucking leave him there! Fuck him up!” comments. Drew was great at stalling the crowd til he got his leg free.
Anyway, it was a good hard physical brawl for the main event. However as soon as I saw that ref bump, I knew it wasn’t to be Drew’s day. Punk who was earlier also wearing a Celtic top to oppose Drew being a Rangers fan lol was great with the trolling to let Priest get the win. We were pretty upseeeet. I think they could’ve achieved Drew/Punk with Drew as champ. Nothing against Priest of course but this shouldÂ’ve been Drew’s moment in his home country.
For this particular show, I’ll just give it an 8 Badgers out of 10 setts as there was no match that was like outstanding or anything. There was a couple of blown spots. However the overall experience and atmosphere of the last two nights. Hopefully they come back here soon!

Fraud not bud. Already got a holiday trip booked as well on the back of paying a grand for these tickets. Skipping attending this one but will watch from home of course.
AJ/Cody and Sammi/Chad were really the highlights of the show. The rest could have been on Raw or Smackdown. I am not fan of Punk screwing Drew. I have zero confidence that Punk is going to be healthy before or after SummerSlam. He had his big return match at the Rumble got hurt. The last year of AEW was him getting hurt, vacating title, get hurt, vacate title. I get the talk of Drew/Punk doesn't need the title, however I am not sure what or could make Damian interesting. I think he is great, but he is third banana in his own stable. Gunther/Damian seems like a weird choice and Finn/Damian doesn't need the title either. Drew can cash in on Damian but Punk will fuck that up too. Piper deserves to be built better prior to this, so I am hoping she will get another shot soon. Bayley/Nia is not something I want to see again. Good for the Scottish Witches, but man that match was rough at the end. Honestly, I feel bad for Drew and I am not sure what that happened with him and Cory after the show ended. Cory is not on Raw, so who knows.

Priest is an afterthought after the PPV, so being tagged as a transitional champion is the least of his worries. He is the champion of Raw and he feels like the tenth most important person on the show. Again, I am concerned they have no plans for Priest other than stand around while Dom/Liv/Rhea happens around him. If that is the case, give the belt to Drew, because Punk/Drew is one of the fire storylines on Raw and you want your title in a fire storyline not in a cold bin.
Hmm that is one way of looking at it. I slightly thiiink you are underestimating how Priest is valued in all fairness.
Think Hispanic audience. Backlash. Bad Bunny. Miz. JD etc. Good worker, decent size.

I Quit match was good for what it was. Brainbuster on the announce desk was probably the most memorable spot.
Unfortunately I had the women's tag title match spoiled 'cuz I went on FB like a dope before I got to watch, otherwise I would've screamed when the Spooky Witch Girls won. Was certain they were there to do the job so Shayna/Zoey would still have a claim at a rematch with Jade/Bianca. 'Bout goddamn time for Alba/Isla and extra nice considering Alba's recent loss of her mother. Shame Jade bungled her springboard, another confirmation bias moment for the OmG JaDe SUX1 crowd even though people botch shit like that all the damn time (including Alba and Priest on this very show). She also recovered from it like a pro.
IC Title match was excellent from both a wrestling standpoint and a storyline standpoint. Thought Otis was gonna turn on Chad here and cost him but I assume he'll do it tomorrow no RAW after Chad gives him another heap of disrespect.
Bayley/Piper was solid as hell. Probably the best Piper showcase I can recall in a very long time.
Priest/Drew was good for what it was, hot crowd helped. Immediate flashbacks to Test/Eddie with the foot in the ropes, hope Priest's not hurt too bad, props to him working afterward. LOVED the finish and will bathe in the smarks tears over Drew losing.

I Quit was awesome.
Women's triple threat with the shock win from Dawn/Fyre. I say shock because I wasn't sold on the champs losing just yet and the finish felt out of nowhere.
Shocked Gable lost. I thought, where's Akira? I thought he was going to come out, take out Otis, and help Gable win. Akira then becomes Gable's main man.
Bayley winning felt like the right move. Piper, very good but she's no Bayley.
Fuck I wanted Drew to win so badly but damn CM Punk just knows how to grind those gears. The ref bump was a for sure sign. Then you saw the shoes and you just knew. This motherfucker lol. Mannnn. Props to Priest. That botch could've been a career ender I'm not even thinking about his leg I'm thinking about the fact he about went face first into the edge of the ring.
All in all this was a very very good ppv. Again I had 3 matches where I was surprised with the outcome.
Oh yeah forgot to mention the decibel meter they had on display. Watching HHH on the post-show press conference reminded me.
Yeah this was a great idea for an experiment. It got the crowd pumped, kept the energy levels up as fans tried to be louder. I hope they carry on this idea.
Also the Mama Rhodes chanting was great! I hope they continue to use her in storylines like they were/may possibly to be used soon when Rock comes back to confront Cody.
I swear after Priest won you could hear a mouse piss on cotton. I will also this-very surprised to see so many CM Punk shirts in the crowd.
I think they've got something planned with MITB coming up and the winner taking the belt off Priest, whether it's Balor, Gunther, whoever. I was ready for McIntyre to win, go on to face Punk at Summerslam, defeat him and retain the title. Punk has come out of this making McIntyre look like a fool enough times that I was more hopeful there was some mindfuck interference of Punk hitting Priest helping McIntyre win, tainting the victory as McIntyre couldn't do it without help. Spin that off into Punk vs. Judgment Day or a triple threat, Priest getting his rematch in it.
So, Punk is not cleared for Mitb but might be ready for SummerSlam. Jesus, can't this company have an exam before they shoot big angles.
