Willie Mays or Babe Ruth, how much do you know about Stan Musial et al, how much do we value pitchers vs fielders, are you going to penalize the steroid era, what modern players have done enough..

..these are all questions we're each going to answer, and more, and see what that very wide net reveals.

And when it's all said and done we'll have the definitive Rajah's Top 20 Baseball Players of All-Time.

What is the submission deadline?

all my ties and thoughts on baseball are completely subjective and propped up on my own interactions with the sport as opposed to being a fan of the game and it's history, so my list would be topped by cliff lee, darren daulton and adrian beltre with little input or care about historical significance and actually trying to come up with an objective roster of the greatest players.

One comment, related to the gif I posted above. I think Pedro and Randy Johnson will be high on my list because of how dominant they were during the steroid era. In an era of mashing they were all-time dominant run preventers.

There might be others who would fall into this category (Clemens for sure - though he was a steroid user himself) but Pedro and Unit come to mind as the best.

That was sarcasm. And cwe still probably has him ahead of me (my current mental rankings don't go 40 deep, I'd have to think about it more to have an exact order)

Part of my argument with CWE is that I assert he overvalues Wilt's number chasing (hence me bringing up Westbrook). And I think that someone like Russell, who was an all-time defensive force, smart passer, strong rebounder, and made teammates better ranks ahead of Wilt (who was a turnstile in many 4th quarters-the no foul out streak smh).

And if someone wants to bring up teammates, and ignore the number of HOFers Wilt played with....let's do it.

Ya, was hoping that doing this this time of year would maybe get propelled by some spring baseball vibes. Solid turnout early on, but it's been awfully flat for a minute now.

Considered we just run with what we got before too much longer, really the list is nice as is. But a handful more would make a world of difference of course and I know there are some knowledgeable members who can still contribute so I don't wanna just call it too soon.

Might send out a few @'s in the next couple days for one last shot to see what's what for a strong final tally.

Agree with the ordering. After my top 2 or 3 I had a hard time deciding on who I wanted to put where.

Also thought it was a little tricky trying to navigate pitchers versus field players.

I am having a really hard time trying to slot in the pitchers. I have a list of position and a list of pitchers. Just not sure how to blend them. Nothing feels right.
