17 Women's - Like something that gets a pop from the crowd, but does fuck-all and is eliminated quick

29 Men's - Solid chance. The do like to throw some nice ones there at the end.

Considering allowing two week prizes for those who get most eliminations and lasts longest in the Rumble but what do you all think? Or rather have things stay the way they are?

Keep as they are, but allow changing of user titles and locations as well.

What happens when these are not exclusive from the winner? Would the prize go through Mania, and then add another 4 weeks?

Keep the prize as it is.

Do we need a separate thread created to discuss the actual ppv or is this one good enough?

I am not opposed to that. Definitely would need to be shorter than the winners of the Rumble.

We used to go to a friends house to watch the Rumble with several other people and we drew numbers when we got there and he would have various prizes for the winner, longest, most eliminations, first elimination and stuff like that. I would just say for us keep it to most eliminations and who is in the longest. Just my thoughts.

I thought this was pretty cool.

The card doesn't SUCK. Despite not really understanding what a Mt Dew Pitch Black match is I think LA Knight and Wyatt will deliver. Roman/KO, 3rd time at Rumble they're 1-1 so this is the rubber match. Belair/Bliss will probably be similar to Knight/Wyatt. 50% wrestling 50% theatrics. I'm here for it.

Here's my question: Are certain fans setting themselves up for misery if Cody doesn't win? There's a part of me that wants to see a bottom half of the top 10 potentials to win it. Karrion Kross for example. He's not someone that would look out of place winning. There are people who have won it that were already established that soured me completely. Sheamus, Randy Orton, just to name a few lackluster Rumble winners.

I think Kross has a very interesting story if they want to go the realistic route. . The guy who didn't have a famous last name. The guy who didn't get chance after chance but a guy that Vince didn't really get either. Climbed through the indies, Lucha Underground, Impact, NXT, but didn't fit the vision.

Wyatt is someone else who I think could be a huge story going into Mania. The one guy Roman hasn't beat.

Cody's story is great too and I think that's what really sells the Rumble this year is the many different routes they could take. Sami Zayn sticks out, Finn Balor, Bobby Lashley, there are at least 10 names I could throw out and clog up this thread even more lol.

I would love to see someone not expected to win to actually win but that doesn't seem to be a thing much anymore. I like Kross and would be fine seeing him win. But like you said there people with different stories that they could work with. But seems like they will likely go Cody if Rock is not available and starting to sound like he may not be. But then again I take news reports with a grain of salt and like to wait and see so there is that.

The Cody storyline writes itself and I think if I were just a casual fan I would probably be thinking that was exactly who was winning. Why spend all that time hyping this guy up just to lose? But as a hardcore fan I can see a few different angles here. What if Cody loses, does that mean he can't find his way into a World title match at Mania?

I like the idea of Roman defending on both nights. Especially with how they're trying to split the tag titles up. The Rumble winner challenges one night, maybe they do Elimination Chamber or something in Feb to determine the challenger for the other title and that's how Cody makes it. Loses Rumble, survives the Chamber.

I think there's also a big portion of the audience rooting for Sami Zayn-IF he's in the match. Imagine him winning the Rumble and laying down for Roman, 1-2-3.

Yeah there is a lot of ways they could go with it for sure.

I am hoping they figure out a good way to split up the titles again and have a champ on Raw and Smackdown.

I would keep the Universal title on Roman. That is what started his 2+ year reign. That would also be the title I would have The Rock challenge for as he's never challenged for the Universal title. Have the WWE title go to Cody, Wyatt, Kross, Balor, someone along those lines that can give us something fresh on top of Raw.

I am not sold on Kross, and Balor has a midcard feel about him because of JD. Since Balor defeated Edge, he has been overshadowed by everyone else in that stable. Cody is the right story, and the right choice, but I will mark out with the Rock.

Lita and Trish Stratus will be in town next weekend. Lita has been in like each Rumble so far I think and I think Stratus did the first one. Wonder if both will be in this years.

Re-titled the thread just to try to make it clear it's about both the PPV itself and the GoD.

Seems most likely to me that Cody and Rhea are winning their respective Rumble. I'm totally cool with both. I really don't think Kross is ready or good enough . Sami would be a pretty compelling choice. Lots of other top dudes like Rollins, Lashley, McIntyre, etc., feel like it's not the right time. On the women's side, I'm surprised to see mr sabu say it's tough when it seems pretty obvious Rhea's going to win it and there aren't really any other strong options in my mind. Most other top ladies have already won it, are already champ, or like Ronda/Shayna, will likely be tied up in other things.

    Thank you for the retitling?

I could maybe see Sami pulling a marathon run but getting eliminated by the final fourish. Possibly Theory lasting a while too but yeah Cody to win.

Also hoping for/expecting a Rhea win. Rhea/Belair is the money Mania match for the women.

Okay gonna include user title and location to changing avatar/usernames but currently leave the prizes for Rumble winners. Maybe look at additional prizes for next year but as everyone’s already signed up will leave as is this year.

It may just evolve into a triple threat Mania event anyway. Hype Becky as winning the last Mania triple threat.

I wanna see viewership go crazy if the final two are Cody and Sami.

I’ve said in a couple chats that I would book Sami to win. I don’t honestly think he will and am waiting to see how they use RR to help break Sami and the Bloodline (I’m thinking KO is beat and Bloodline continues to beat the hell out of him until Zayn gains a conscious)….

but man I have a feeling those two being last would be electric.

When the bloodline turn on Sami, it should happen right after Sami lays down for Roman. Like the second the ref hits the 3 count.

    They'd get nuclear heat.

Having a ring-clearing moment with Sami, Usos, Solo and then they turn against Sami... only for Owens to be the next one to come out would be an awesome moment for me. Especially if they have the Reigns-Owens match towards the start, he gets stretchered off to play it up like he's done for the night.

It doesn't need to be Owens at #30, just the Usos working together, Sami thinking they're cool... then getting destroyed by the three of them until Owens is out. A delay of the appearance of whatever # entrant he might be.

You know you suck when Ezekiel, a character no longer on WWE TV, has better odds than you in winning.

Anyone want to speculate on the stipulations of the Pitch Black Match? Or is it just going to be a regular match with shitty lighting? Hopefully there aren't Mtn Dew logos plastered all over the ring/ringside during it. If it's anything like the other sponsored matches they've done, there'll be a big table with Mtn Dew all over it that Knight gets put through while the commentators put over the product despite never actually taking a drink from the bottles on their desk.

I'm thinking it's just an anything goes match. I fully expect Uncle Howdy to get involved.

Maybe he’ll do a Foley in 98 and come out with all the gimmicks. Maybe we’ll see Elrod as well. KO (if he gets in the Rumble after the title match) ‘s reactions would be worth it.

No offense to Ezekiel, but I sure hope not

I'm most looking forward to Knight/Wyatt. It's time for LA Knight to shine!

Jinder Mahal is not even listed as having any odds to win.

I will speculate that the Mt Dew Pitch Black Match will be more satisfying than Mt Dew Pitch Black soda pop. But since it's a sponsored consumable product, then I will speculate that Bray will be taking a beating until he gets thrown out of the ring, he grabs a bottle of that grapey goodness ringside from Husky the pig puppet, and drinks it all, they both belch, until Bray becomes revived like Popeye eating his spinach, and LA Knight gets pummelled and pinned.

I’m calling it now: Naomi as a surprise return during the women’s Rumble, to the The Bloodline theme music. The Tribal Chief made a call, he needs to make sure no other woman is able to punk the crew like Rhea did this past Monday.

Naomi made her point with her walkout, it doesn’t look like Mercedes is returning anytime soon, there’s a “change” at the top of the talent division, she can step right into the hottest pro wrestling storyline. The math just adds up…

Hello everyone, I used to post a lot in here from 2007-2015 but haven't read the message board in years. I'm going to the Rumble tomorrow (my first Rumble since the awful Batista win in Pittsburgh). Looking forward to it and hopefully I'll get back into posting here with you fine folks.

Lesnar is in the Rumble. Probably ends up being #30, knocking out Lashley and himself.

I wouldn't be disappointed if this man was a surprise entrant as long as he doesn't get my number. That would be some bad news.

Tonight’s card has apparently been leaked and is making the rounds online: the men’s Rumble opens and Owens/Reigns is the main event.

Two thoughts immediately popped into my head: 1) Cody doesn’t win and 2) we will be smelling something after Reigns beats Owens.

Men's Rumble opening the show sucks.

Also seen Bryan Danielson record for the longest time in the Rumble match has been beniot'ed from the record books. I thought that was odd considering they showed him at Rumble xxx.

wasn't planning on it but i'm going to give this a watch i think. i just wish they didn't try to shove two royal rumble matches onto one show. overkill. do one at a saudi show and one here instead or something.

Here’s a link to a Discord channel chat some of us are using already if you want to chat about the Game of Death as well as the Rumble itself that some of us are in already:

    https://discord.gg/HZtwTjZa

Thevinvite will come up “Fingers of Suspicion” but that’s just the server name for Mafia games we play to save any confusion that may arise. There’s a Royal Rumble channel chat in there if you just select the channel.

i'm happy with the men's rumble being on first. it's the match i want to see most and the wind would be out of its sails if an entire other rumble match happened before it.

There is a real gulf between this crowd losing their minds for Cody and all these people I see on the twitter and whatnot bitching about the hollowed out husk of El Generico not being in this.

    Sami is not Bryan Danielson.

@Psycho666Soldier congratulations on your men’s Rumble victory. You can now change someone’s username, avatar, user title and location whenever you are ready. Just let the mods (well you’re with two of them now so no need to tag them I guess lol).

Great finishing sequence to that Rumble though. Logan/Ricochet spot was amazing. Cody may have won but Gunther was the MVP here!

Only minor complaint is could’ve use more surprise entrants but yeah that was fun.

That post-match Bloodline segment was the highlight of the show and better than what’s been on the actual match card…by country miles IMO. Sami making his choice and Jey walking out.

Not that all the cars has been that bad. Some of the Rumble booking has been weird though it had it’s moments but yeah that segment was just amazing. They’ve got there with Sami but there’s still plenty mileage with Jey walking away. Perhaps this finally undoes the Usos tag title reign.

    Just emotional and awesome storytelling.

Men's rumble felt like it had more consistency, more storytelling, more to do with recent feuds and such. The highlight of the women's match as far as storytelling was continuing stuff with Becky and Damage CTRL. A good finish to the match, but it felt a little lazy booking 1 and 2 in both matches to last the longest. Minor complaint but strong show overall. You keep the crowd hot past the main event finishing and set up which should be a hot crowd for Sami at Elimination Chamber. And then Jey walking out was a nice twist.

More surprise entrants in the womens rumble. Wouldn't really call Edge a surprise, but other than that it was Logan Paul?

Said this in the Discord chat but will say it here too. This is coming full circle with Jey who is a centrepiece. At the start of Roman’s title reign and the Bloodline movement, it started with him and Jey who was wanting to break out on his own but ultimately Roman bullied and manipulated him over to his side. So extreme to the point that he was the one who originally hated Sami but after seeing what Sami has done for him, the penny and light bulb is dropping. Jey is severely conflicted but near three years prior after being manipulated with family ties, he might be starting to come out of it again and could be a key player in the Roman Empire ending after helping start it in the first place.

It would be fantastic continuity book-ending if this happens. There is still a lot of mileage to go and in no hurry myself for the journey to end. Not just Sami, Cody and KO but look at what this may do for “Main-Event Jey Uso” too to the point it will be more than just a mere moniker.

    Great to see McAfee back.

The Men's Rumble was entertaining. It was a standout performance for GUNTHER as the Iron Man of the Match. It was probably a massive stunner to see Lesnar in there, do damage and then ultimately go out rather quickly. It was a nice surprise to see Paul jump in there late as a surprise and what a spot with Ricochet. I definitely would be down to see a match between Rollins and Paul at Mania. For someone as pushed as Theory has been, he gets a deep run in this year's Rumble but it's likely going to be forgotten. Seems like the biggest things to come out of this will be Paul/Rollins, Rey/Dom, Lesnar/Lashley, Edge/Judgment Day and Rhodes/Reigns. Just a hunch, but we may finally get the match that was presumably going to happen in the form of Theory/Cena. GUNTHER needs a big moment, even it means losing his championship, at Mania.

The Pitch Black Match was an idea but it was a swing and a miss. I don't mind the attempt because you have to try stuff but this probably didn't do much to advance Wyatt's character or eliminate stigmas that he's a challenging person to work with in a in-ring capacity. Knight should still be fine going forward.

Bianca and Alexa just don't seem to have a lot of chemistry together. Alexa also just seems to be off in some ways as a worker lately.

The Women's Rumble was fine and certainly amped up at the end. It was great to see Asuka back and then see her go back in time to reinvent herself. Hopefully this bodes well for her prospects going forward. I don't like the idea Becky/Damage CTRL continuing for a while. It's seemed pretty obvious to me that the stars have been lining up for 2023 to be the year Rhea really takes another step as a star and this is another milestone towards that. Also Nia back...nah.

Main Event match kind of underwhelmed me a bit based on the talent involved. I actually went back and watched their '21 Rumble match and that was amazing (even with the crappy finish). This just felt like one of the more anticlimactic Reigns matches in recent years. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it didn't hit that top level. Despite not hitting that tier, it was definitely brutal. The post-match stuff was cinemas, again because everyone involved has a role and plays their role so incredibly well. The crowd's energy ramped up when Zayn went into the hit zone the first time. The fact that he was the one to turn first was a great swerve in a situation where swerves have been present. This still feels like we've got the next few months set for The Bloodline. Jey is now going to be the conflicted one in the family and now be the one who feels like is the next one to defect (if you count Zayn a defection). This now sets up Zayn/Reigns in Montreal. That will be even more passionate and authentic in terms of atmospheres compared to Clash at the Castle in my opinion. That will likely set the stage where Jey makes his decision, costs Zayn and Reigns retains. At that point we get the end game that always felt it was going to be: KO and Zayn burying the hatchet and going after the thorns in their side in the form of The Usos.

The biggest priority to me is to keep Rhodes hot through Elimination Chamber. Zayn is going to be the one carrying things now and there may be discontent to see him get his shot at EC rather than Mania, so you've got to have something big/good for Rhodes rather than just rely on going through the motions. Zayn has thrived within a layered, complex (for WWE) story and Rhodes is great at telling a story. Can't rest on laurels and the calendar here with him.\

Triple H on The Rock's future involvement: "He's incredibly busy. ... If he could be here for this Wrestlemania in Hollywood, he would turn over every stone and walk through fire to be able to do it if he could. I just don't think it's in the cards, but you just don't know. We always have conversations with him because he loves it so much and we'd love for him to be part of it."

He said the door is always open for The Rock to show up but I probably wouldn't get your hopes up for Reigns/Rock at Mania.

Conflicted Jey eventually siding with Roman at EC and KO/Zayn ending the tag title reign at Mania also makes a lot of sense.

As far as Rock goes, as amazing as him showing up and the overall general business that that may do to hook casuals/fairweathers back into the product…for the purposes of the Bloodline storyline, me personally I hope he doesn’t show. The Bloodline storyline is so deep right now that it’s got to the point that the story would be spoiled if he just showed up for the big paycheck. Let Sami, Jey, KO, Reigns et Al play out the story on their own. If Rock showed up last year then maybe but right now to me it would seem like pounding a square peg into a round hole.

In football terms, Rock showing up would be the equivalent of a second half injury time substitution right before the match ends. The story doesn’t need him.

Although if he were to somehow show up at Mania in a completely different capacity then that would be perfectly fine for me.

The end of the women's rumble was perfect It built everyone. The bloodline storyline is everything great about wrestling. It's been a slow burn that is looking to have a great payoff. I'm glad the rock didn't show up. WWE can't rely on legends to build their future.

I do probably expect some legends to show since its Hollywood, but yea these last few wrestlemanias in the last decade have relied way too heavy I agree.

I wonder who made the call to have Rollins eliminated before Cody even showed up. You think it would make sense to have him eliminate Rollins during the Rumble. Guessing they have yet another blowoff match next month before Cody focuses on Roman. Or could it possibly because they got tired of having Rollins come up short every time he faces Cody. Also wondering if Roman makes him choose which title to go after since the rumble only guarantees one title shot. Or possibly the night after Mania he makes Pearce force Cody to give one back.

Love that my girl Liv had a massive Rumble showing, hopefully that bodes well for a WrestleMania spot and potentially another title run in the Summer…

This kills me to write this but I must give props to Logan, less than three months after getting legitimately banged up; not only did he show up but he combined with Ricochet to create yet another freaking cool spot.

I hate to say it, but if dude went all-in as a pro wrestler he would be a massive star. Highly doubtful he actually goes through with it, because he’s already one of the bigger names who gets a massive payday for each of his limited appearances.

In his late-twenties, a good looking dude, can work the mic, has athletic ability out the wazoo and none of the wear/tear the career guys have: he’s a goddamn blank slate.

Had stream issues during the men's Rumble but it seemed pretty solid. Not too many surprises, though. Nice to see Gunther get a lot of shine and the right man won.

Pitch Black Match tried to be something but was schlock. The black light effect was pretty rad, particularly how it affected Wyatt's look, but having Mtn Dew logos everywhere was detracting and overall it just felt like we were at the circus in Batman & Robin. Post-match stuff was also pretty goofy and Howdy missed by a mile.

Bliss vs. Belair was weak. No real chemistry nor did it really hit a gear above your average TV match. No one really cared because everyone was waiting to see if there'd be spooky stuff and then it was just video screen bullshit post-match which was underwhelming.

Women's Rumble was the MOTN for me and was really good overall. New look Asuka is fucking awesome. Much better surprises (outside of Nia Jax...please, gawd, be a one off!). Good stuff with Becky/Damage CTRL. Like Tyson, glad to see Liv get a strong showing. Final three was good shit, nice finish. Rhea was the right winner, though I was also rooting hard for spooky Asuka.

    Kid Rock, Jr., was horrible.

Reigns/Owens was good but not next level. Those two slams back-first into the steps were fucking insane, though. Post-match stuff, no the other hand, was absolutely next level. Great stuff, drama/tension was high, crowd was hanging on every second. Excellent.
