    RIP Antonio Inoki

One of the greatest legends of time has passed away.

He was the founder of New Japan Pro Wrestling after being one of Rikidozan's protege's alongside Giant Baba. Had what could be could the first ever MMA fight against Muhammad Ali. Was one of the biggest draws in pro wrestling history. At the time his retirement show was the biggest grossing event of all time.

He had a controversial career in and out of the ring. Was caught laundering money from New Japan. During his political career had many ties some considered shady inside the country and outside. Took credit for the release of hostages right before Operation Desert Storm because he was the last person to speak to Saddam Hussein before the hostages were released. He organized the shows in North Korea with that country's government.

    Very interesting man.

Rest in peace. I've really only watched one or two of his matches an know him more for his legend in the business and Inokism more than anything, but his influence is massive, good or bad.

Also, him v. Muhammed Ali was pretty interesting just for the spectacle of it.

@Nash Diesel fucking enjoyed that btw! Not just for the man of the hour but a greater appreciation for Hogan and Andre’s non-WWE work as those guys could go. Muchos appreciated!

I’ll definitely look up the Ali stuff!

Yeah man you go down the rabbit hole with some of these late 70's early early 80's matches when Hogan and Andre over in Japan or other "eras". I just watched Hogan as a heel challenging Bob Backlund at the Spectrum in 1980. 20 minutes, incredible match.
