Women's Traditional Survivor Series Match: Team Raw (Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Queen Zelina, and Carmella) v. Team Smackdown (Sasha Banks, Shayna Baszler, Shotzi, Natalya, and ???)

Men's Traditional Survivor Series Match: Team Raw (Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley, and Austin Theory) v. Team Smackdown (Drew McIntyre, Jeff Hardy, King Woods, Happy Corbin, and ???)

I am actually looking forward to this.

I got Roman, Becky, men's smackdown, women's raw, Usos, Damien Priest, and Hit Row winning.

Either this is one huge work between Becky and Charlotte or there’s going to be some legitimate blood spilled on Sunday.

I'm curious if they'll use some sort of gimmick to keep Big E strong in defeat. Like having the ring break or maybe a safe falls on his head via Usos in the rafters.

I feel very confident that there will be shenanigans of some sort, ensuring a clean finish doesn’t happen; both champs keep their heat, that feud gets preserved for one day down the road.

Sheamus is the final man on Team SD and there's been a 25 Man Battle Royal added to the card.

Things I'm looking to see that would make sense:
Liv and Toni should have strong showings
Theory maybe having a breakout moment.
Very small seeds planted to start to establish the divide between RK-Bro from the perspective of them working together in the ring.
Owens probably setting up a secondary feud to set the table for once he steps out of the feud with E and Rollins.

I think we get a "clean" finish for Becky/Charlotte but we definitely don't get one for Reigns/E.

Woods eliminated that early? After the first guy to get a singles victory over Reigns on Smackdown plus the push he’s been getting?

That’s bollocks. I know they’re pushing Lashley as strong but still.

Charlotte match was okay. Her gear should have been blue, just kind of looked like her underwear with it being black.

    I can't believe KO didn't even wrestle.

McAfee on commentary is the best part of this.

Seth winning is fine at the end I guess and Theory getting a run but fuck me that was weird with so many stronger pushed guys going.

Jeff getting on and barely wins on TV these days yet gets a marathon run here.

Just not feeling this PPV at all tbh. Some good moments here and there but still hard to get invested.

Hopefully Reigns/E will burn the house down.

I didn’t really know what to expect with Priest/Nakamura but I thought they were able to have a fun one. The result clearly played into Priest’s new character, just flipping the hell out after he got tired of Boogs and the guitar. Not ideal to start things with a DQ but it kind of fit the character.

I thought Becky and Charlotte had a pretty good match. They had their moments where they were trying to play off the fact this was a worked shoot, but a majority of it played out like it needed to be: a regular match. Not ideal to have a wonky finish but at least there was an actual finish to it. Charlotte getting caught attempting to cheat and then getting the same action used on her helped protect her a bit.

The entrances for the Men’s Survivor Series match seriously had to take nearly 14 minutes. Owens pulled a Rollins from last year, quickly eliminating himself lol. The match probably went way, way too long and lost steam along the way. It was kind of weird to see Hardy and Sheamus so chummy over the later portion of the match until he got eliminated lol. I thought there would be a moment for Theory and I guess he got it by pinning Sheamus, while grabbing the trunks. It’s wild to see how over Hardy remains with the crowd. It was a good finish between Rollins and Hardy. Rollins getting the win makes sense as he can use it as momentum for his tussle with E.

That was an abomination of a segment between McMahon and Reigns. You don’t use McMahon on TV much anymore (which makes sense based off his performance), and that’s what you used him for? Gross lol.

They built up to a showdown between Omos and Shanky during the t-shirt battle Royal, and the crowd went mild. They tried to create a hope spot with Ricochet at the end but it wasn’t very good lol. Omos won and eliminated 12 guys. His prize? Not a damn thing lol.

Some clunky moments during the tag champ showdown but they had a pretty good match. The Usos are really good at riling up a crowd. Milestone match for Orton as he passed Kane for the most PPV matches in WWE history. He still looks great, and still delivers RKOs out of nowhere. Good stuff.

Someone stole the pricey egg and that means everyone has to be on Raw to be questioned. Guess that brand split is going well.

Crowd clearly lost interest in the Women’s Survivor Series match as the crowd started doing the wave. Things picked back up when Sasha and Bianca finally crossed paths. They lost the crowd again when they broke off and we got CM Punk chants lol. It’s not like the match was that bad. It had some sloppy moments but not to the point where they should have lost the crowd. They just weren’t having any of it. Well, it was fine until the Smackdown team decided they wanted to keep Sasha out of the ring and got her eliminated that way. The story of Bianca rolling through Smackdown’s remaining four was a little fast but it just adds another impressive feat to her resume.

Not as prominent of a big fight feel at the start of the main event but still a good atmosphere. Good for the storytelling to show E getting into Reigns’ head early in the match, with Heyman having to calm him down and getting back in the right mindset. This was definitely the best overall showing for E since he’s been champion. He showed monster resolve, battling back from multiple Superman punches and a spear. This match also brought back the Reigns where he’s very vocal and talking more trash to the crowd. That didn’t resonate with the crowd but it was still cool to see. Eventually Reigns got E with a clean win, but it was a very competitive match. E looked like he was on the level with Reigns.

The constant mentions of The Rock definitely left it open that he could have appeared at the end but alas, he did not haha.

Still can’t understand what the company sees in Omos to deserve this decent sized push. Whatever he does, Braun is/was better: speed/agility, workrate, mic skills, fan support. The only advantage Omos has is on the balancesheet.

Very surprised by the interference-free clean finish in the Big E/Reigns match, going toe-to-toe with the Tribal Chief will do wonders for Ettore’s credibility as champ.

Interested to see how they progress Lynch/Flair despite being on opposite brands.

    Didn't see Priest/Nak 'cuz I didn't watch the pre-show.

Charlotte/Becky was very good. Both rocking some fierce gear, too. Finish was a little underwhelming but fitting, I suppose, as they're meant to be equals and Charlotte was outdone by her own game so neither of them really takes any damage. I'm inclined to think the backstage stuff was more work than shoot at this point seeing how much they're leaning into it on TV.

Have to admit I think both elimination matches went on longer than necessary. Men's was pretty good as far as unpredictability. I completely whiffed on my predictions as I had my chips on Drew. Even as the match was happening I was going with Theory then Hardy and forgot Seth was in line for the title so his win makes sense but I wasn't really expecting it. Having Sheamus and Hardy as pals was weird since there was that whole thing with trying to run him over and ripping on his substance issues, etc..

Battle royal was about what I expected and I nailed my pick with Omos. Have to admit they had me for a second with Ricochet. With getting an entrance, getting put over by the booth, and being the last man, they almost have me believing they're going to push Ricochet but...c'mon.

Tag champs vs. Tag chaps was fine enough. Someone totally called that finish in another thread.

Shame the crowd totally checked out of the women's match expect for when Sasha and/or Bianca were in there. They did make noise for eliminations, though, but again, I think it dragged on too long which didn't help. Nice to see Toni get a decent showing and Shotzi really got a lot of spotlight. Great big win for Bianca who is doing well on her climb back up the mountain.

E/Reigns started of a little dull for me but started picking up and getting pretty good as it went along. E got to look a beast coming back in the latter half but I never really felt like he was actually going to win the damn thing.

That golden egg stuff was dumb as hell and the payoff wasn't even on the PPV. My initial thought was that it was setting up Rock/Reigns and that Reigns was gonna smash it because the show was centered around Dwayne and not the head of the Table. Watch Hornswoggle be the guy that took it.

    Good PPV but not great.

Very surprised by the interference-free clean finish in the Big E/Reigns match, going toe-to-toe with the Tribal Chief will do wonders for Ettore’s credibility as champ.

Interested to see how they progress Lynch/Flair despite being on opposite brands.
What I'm having difficulty understanding here is the reason for comparing Omos to Braun Strowman. For one, Omos is about 7-8 inches taller than Strowman. They look totally different, and since when are we only allowed one big guy? Strowman isn't even that big he just looks big due to the roster averaging around 5'9". Plus, Omos won a no stakes 25-man battle royal. Bad News Brown would be happy. All Omos got was the possibility of having some ass pizza.

Overall a good show. My top 3 matches would be (in no order) Charlotte Flair v. Becky Lynch, the men's SS match, and Big E v. Roman. Usos/RK-Bro barely missed the top 3.

There was something off about the pacing. There were a lot of up and down moments in matches and it definitely felt like a 3+ hour ppv. I felt the same way last weekend at AEW so maybe I'm just getting old. I'm not saying this as a bad thing just felt longer than it should've been--I just don't know what match(es) needed to have time shaved off.

And what a weird final 4 for the men's SS match. For me it made it clear Raw was winning. Sheamus and/or Hardy as the Survivors made no sense if Rollins is being built up as the next guy to feud with Big E. Still wasn't a fan of Theory being in the match.

Everyone should be compared to Braun Strowman.

Omos is still like 11 years younger than Braun. He could still develop some over the next few years.

Even though Braun's pushes tended to fizzle, Omos has still never seen anything near a Braun level push.

Him being with AJ and winning things like this is a good spot to see what happens with him.

Not a fan of having one person demolish an entire team all by themselves. Bianca could have been the sole survivor without making the Smackdown women look like jokes.

This was just a strange booking one all around. Elimination matches in particular.

Reigns look super strong and knew he was going to win obv but would’ve expected shenanigans in that one.

The Smackdown team dissension I think helped mitigate any one person looking too terrible. I think Bianca needed something to capture some momentum. And the crowd reaction to her and Sasha was strong.

Also, I was honestly just happy that:

    1. Toni Storm was booked decently strong (i kinda assumed she was there to be the no elimination jobber)
    2. Toni Storm returned to shorts as ring gear.

I sorta get that about Bianca, but at the same time other than the quick win by Becky to win the title which was booked as a surprise, she’s been booked really strong as it is and Becky had to cheat in the re-match. It’s kinda like that situation where Baszler steamrolled everyone in the Elimination Chamber. No problem Bianca winning as such but they could’ve made it closer in the end. She didn’t need to mow everyone down at the end.

This is the thing I have about the women’s division and have said in the past. For all the female talent they have in abundance, there is still and has been for a long time way too much of a divide between the ones they put on a pedestal (Becky, Charlotte, Sasha, Bianca et al) and the others. They get sacrificed to make the others look strong. I will say though they do seem to be doing a slow burn with Liv but many repetitive matches to get there. Speaking of repetitive, Sonya/Naomi. Blah blah we get it by now, Sonya doesn’t like her. New and dumb ways to screw Naomi every week to the point it’s becoming harder and harder to care. Get to the match and end-game already!

She "mowed" them down through their incompetence, though.

Bianca needs something because the people that mattered still have something to build off of:
    Carmella being Carmella
    Zelina with the gimmick
Toni and Liv with their title shots
    Rhea being a tag champ
Shayna being the heavy for Sonya
Shotzi and Sasha still crossing paths

That really just leaves Natalya and she doesn't really need anything lol.

Bianca has nothing but Doudrop and there needs to be some kind of substance or momentum that can be built off that makes it more palpable for both parties.

As far as Bianca goes, just could have executed it a wee bit better. No problem with her surviving.

The angles are all well and good and I get that but the glass ceiling is still there and hard to smash.

I only saw Priest vs. Nakamura, Lynch vs. Flair, and half of the men's elimination match.

I wanted to see Lashley run through the Smackdown team by himself!

I’m just not entirely buying the argument that Bianca had to look super strong to regain momentum because I think she can slip in to regain momentum whenever she pleases and she’ll be fine.

Tbh Doudrop just saying to fuck with the brand rivalry and just fucking her over to cost the match could have been quite interesting. Gives them something to do and it’s strong vs strong.

I just want something more interesting and more shock value in the Women’s division. They are doing a good job with Liv but the women below the top tier still feels like they’re stuck in a washing machine going round and round.

She didn't have to look super strong she already is. That's why she handled them at the end 3 on 1. We've seen this plenty of times over the years with men.

I think there has been plenty of variety in the women's division. It's just a lot of vagueness coming from your end. The top tier in 2021 has seen a wide variety of talent. Charlotte, Sasha, Bayley, Bianca, Asuka, Rhea Ripley, Becky, Nikki Cross, Shayna and Nia Jax dominated the tag scene, so I'm not sure what variety you're looking for. New talent is coming up like Toni Storm, but then as you said they're doing a little more with Liv, Zelina is doing a little something as well. There's only so many women. You have Naomi and Sonya with a fantastic storyline.

Well yeah that was my point in the first place. Bianca is super strong and didn’t need to beat that many people in the end as she’s strong anyway and could’ve beaten less or even Doudrop shenanigans. She’s fine and didn’t really need it.

The tag scene tbh has not been the best. How many times did Tamina/Natalya lose non-title matches then lost?

You’re praising Nikki there, thought you hated her but yeah not blown away by that team. Zelina/Carmella, they’re okayish but a lot of these women’s tag matches are still recycled.

The premise of Naomi/Sonya is good but it’s getting to the redundant stage now. Needs something to kick off soon with Naomi firing back.

Toni just got called up so hoping they do continue with her and none of my diatribe was aimed at her. We’ll wait and see.

And spooky Alexa? I know you didn’t mention her but will say anyway. No offense to the lass herself, she played the role as best as she could but when it came down to it…did pretty much fuck all really. Still lost the important and tbh I miss just plain old Goddess Alexa.

When the strong players come back from injury mixed in with the new girls like Toni and Xia, maybe things may start looking up more for me and will be less cloudy.

The tag points you’re making are helping reiterate that Bianca needs to be held at a level to where even if she’s strong, she needs to show it in big moments. You’ve got two ladies in Rhea and Nikki who can be or who have been over. Rhea is someone who needs to be valued as a key piece for the future. I’d rather be seeing what Bianca is doing versus what Rhea is doing in terms of actions. Rhea is just treading water and floating along, while Bianca is still being treated as someone who is a beast.

You hope a strong character helps develop a character so Bianca is going to be utilized to hopefully help elevate Doudrop. It doesn’t help Bianca or Doudrop if Bianca isn’t given emphasis on Sunday.

When the heavies like Asuka, Bayley, and Alexa come back, you want those established stars to have someone ready to go. Bianca is the best option, because she’s booked as super strong. Rhea is someone who should be on that level but through marginalized booking, sheis going to need more rehab to get back to a comparable level.

I was thinking more along the lines of since Bianca has accomplished so much more already. Rumble, Mania, long title reign etc you get a holy shit moment where Doudrop just says fuck the brand and costs Bianca while on the verge of winning it by herself but still is strong, heats up the feud and someone to keep Bianca occupied for the time being til the heavies come back. Elevates them both.

Do agree that Rhea has been floating though. The tag with Nikki does feel thrown together. Maybe a tag title change for Carmella/Zelina soon while Rhea turns on Nikki could be an idea. But I guess lack of decent women’s tag teams means that Rhea may be stuck for the moment.

Then who wins the Survivor Series match with a path to build off it?

I’d rather see someone pushed to a “questionably” absurd level versus being booked to be stuck.

Wouldn’t have entirely been against Shotzi winning at the end thanks to Doudrop shenanigans on Bianca tbf.

I do get it don’t get me wrong. Bianca on the motorway this way and taking Route 66 but I kinda like the back road option with twists and turns on the way back up to the top. Bad road analogies aside, I love the shock value, maybe just me.

Nope, but I read that Smackdown had a 4 to 1 advantage and Bianca won. Even if they lost due to their own incompetence, I would have rather it been closer.

Survivor Series has become my least favourite show of the year for WWE. Going in to it, anyway. The whole Raw Vs. Smackdown shit for every match is beyond blah.

Big E, early on in his first run as a babyface too, shouldn't be losing clean in my opinion. Never a fan of champions losing anyway, as a general rule. On the flip side, his first one on one PPV main event, so.

I'd like to just have a traditional men's and a women's Survivor Series match on the show, at a stretch perhaps a traditional tag team one as well, and leave the rest of the card for more of a standard show. Would rather have seen Roman defend against a Smackdown guy and E against a Raw guy.

The champions facing their opposite number was maybe fun the first time it happened because it was new and there was more of a brand split. Every year just because, is blah.

Overall, I was quite bored by this show. Though it was bookended by 2 fine bouts.
