    Rewatching NWA-TNA "The Asylum Years"

I looked to see if there was a thread to discuss this or something like it and did not see anything, however, I did come across a "Rewatching ROH" thread so I figured maybe there's some interest in this. I'm trying to watch all of TNA from the beginning right now.

What happened with this? I never watched the Asylum shows or the weekly PPVs, but I was always curious about Raven's run there and the rise of Monty Brown. The early TNA roster seems like a lost generation of wrestlers. AMW, Monty Brown, Chris Daniels to a certain extent. All guys who almost got their WWE shot but fizzled for one reason or another.

I loved TNA from about 2004-2008/09.

X-Division was super, main event scene was often a load of shite with Jeff Jarrett. It was like a continuation of WCW, really.

Still have a fair few of the old DVDs. Old skool.

The Impact channel on PlutoTV rules ass except it seems to have Samoa Joe vs Kurt Angle in some form kinda regularly. Or at least they're always advertising it.

Raven had quite a few solid runs. A lot of these guys gave notion to the idea that WWE/F didn't want to push a guy who made a name for himself in a different promotion, specifically TNA at the time. I'm not sure how I feel about that, especially as Monty Brown did seem to be set to really break out in the WWE until he had to stop to take care of his sister/family issues.

Early TNA was also post-WCW so a lot of wrestlers who didn't come over in 2001 or were released from WWF came over to TNA. That comment is very general because you had a mixed bag

In a way it kind of had to be. With WCW being bought out there was a vacuum and the scene was fresh for something to fill the void.
