Skipped the past couple of Crown Jewel events after most of them were shitty but this one's actually got a pretty damn good looking line-up so I'll probably be checking it out.

    Predictions:

-Mansoor, the hometown dude gets the W.
-Vega, a makeup call for her release/being left off the MSG card.
-Woods, a perfect spot to jumpstart Xavier’s singles run.
-Lashley, Goldberg gets the huge Saudi payday and Bobby gets another notch on his resume.
-Styles/Omos, the seeds for Orton turning on Riddle are planted.
-Rollins, the part-time HOFer puts over the active wrestler.
-Big E, Drew is headed to SmackDown where the company prematurely pulls the trigger on McIntyre/Reigns.
-Becky, I feel we’re headed towards a title trade between Becky/Charlotte.
-Roman, Lesnar gets the huge Saudi payday and the DQ victory.

If Vega wins the tournament, I don't want to hear anyone talking smack about AEW's women's division again.

Why? If she doesn't have a match that even goes 5mins why does it matter?

What does that even mean? She's better than everyone in the AEW women's division other than 1 person. La mas hermosa

Now if it was down to Carmella possibly winning, oh definitely. Zelina Vega is the total package homeboy. She can talk, she looks incredible, she made Andrade El Dildo interesting, plus she can actually wrestle. Now I'm not saying Britt Baker is dogshit by any means, but you're here trying to make it out like if she wins it's some huge negative because you are a weirdo.

Shit-tastic tourny aside, I'm totally happy with either Doudrop or Vega winning 'cuz they're both pretty great. I think VEga winning's probably the better move as gloating and heeling it up after's probably more effective than whatever babyface Doudrop would do with it.

Of course not. If you're truly negative toward the length of the matches we are in agreement.

Personally I think that Vega would be the type to really run with the gimmick. She's the type who would add a "Macho King" flavor to it.

If Shayna didn't have the Rumble win and the dominant performance at Elimination Chamber-along with the long dominant tag title run, she might be the one that should have won this. But she's good enough to where she doesn't need it.

I truly am. The women's division is debatedly the best thing about WWE. I want them to have good matches that tell stories.

Seconded. I would love to see Vince, I mean the company, build some other women wrestlers up so that when one or two of the Four Horsewomen gets hurt/takes some time off, the division doesn’t grind to a complete halt.

Liv Morgan has been red hot and very over with the crowd when given an opportunity, not putting the tag straps on the Riott Squad at Mania was a huge missed opportunity. They repeatedly bring up women from a good situation in NXT and do sweet fuck-all with them: Toni Storm, Shotzi, Tegan Nox just recently to name a few. Zelina can work and talk, can bump as good as any of the women, but gets minimized whenever a bug flies up Vince’s ass.

IIRC, the only reason Asuka, who is on par with the 4HW, got that extended (and well deserved) run with the RAW Women’s title was because Sasha/Bayley were monopolizing SmackDown and the other two 4HW were out of commission.

Five hours of TV a week, surely they can build something tangible within the two big brands. I love the current Roman Reigns storyline but gotdamn if they aren’t going to ruin it with all this overexposure: 1-2 extended walks to the ring; a promo; 1-2 backstage segments and sometimes a match all within a two hour show.

Look no further than Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley. There's always going to be an elite top tier that will always find their way into the mix. It's definitely been bigger than the 4HW if you think about Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Shayna Bazler, Nia Jax, Carmella, to name a few over the last 3-4 years that have been pushed heavily. But those first 2 I mentioned will be the main eventers once the others step down.

To be fair, i had to give it a second thought and a Google myself. i was like, "I don't think Shayna won...but then, who did?" and legit couldn't remember.

I think it was one of those situations where everyone thought Shayna should've won. It was that and confusing her EC win with the Rumble performance since she dominated both.

I'm still pretty torn on who is going to win the KOTR match but I'm starting to lean a little more towards Woods. I'll be stunned if there's an actual clean finish to the Lesnar/Reigns match. Feels like they can get to a step and then resume at Mania.

I wanted to also say that I think Woods would have that Macho King vibe with the different looks. I also think this could be a way to turn Woods heel. Maybe the crown poisons his mind. I mean, is there a real desire for more New Day tag title reigns?

I guess Taker is going to interrupt some heel with a chokeslam or vice versa he get's interrupted by a heel and chokeslams them.

American Badass Biker Taker appears and rides his motorcycle around the ring to distract AJ Styles/Omos, so RKBro retains. Potentially sets up a theatrical mania rematch event at next year's Crown Jewel, and gives Taker an excuse to come back for a couple of huge paydays. Imagine getting paid a few million dollars to ride a bike around the ring.

Then maybe Taker chokeslams Reggie, and rides away, so R-Truth can capitalize and add to his record number of title reigns.

More likely Taker chokeslams Johnny Drip Drip, who is still looking for his chi

Balor should win imo. I am just picturing Demon Balor crawling down the aisle and snatching the king crown like he used to do with the title belt. I think there's a chance the demon wrestles here right? They like going all out for the Saudi shows and he used it last time. Maybe the Saudi prince likes it.

I also think there's a chance Woods loses which makes him snap and turn on Kofi down the line

Probably one of the best HIAC matches I've seen in years.

There's something really feel good about Mansoor, especially when they show the kids freaking the fuck out. This, not Jinder, is what they want.

I feel bad for these camels on the floor. They're right by the pyro and that shit is hot and super loud.

Why did they just hype up the triple threat to run this? I guess it will probably be over in 3 mins anyway.

Why? They're respecting a culture and it's not like we haven't seen dudes in this gear. Bray Wyatt for example wrestled Strowman wearing a sweater.

Isn't the Saudi stadium open air? I heard it was like 90 degrees. It's one thing if you choose to wear gear, it's another if you're forced to.

So fuck a dress code at your job? Come to my job, there's a dresscode. You will be forced to wear what the fuck I tell you to wear.

90 degrees is hot as fuck though lol

Now if it was down to Carmella possibly winning, oh definitely. Zelina Vega is the total package homeboy. She can talk, she looks incredible, she made Andrade El Dildo interesting, plus she can actually wrestle. Now I'm not saying Britt Baker is dogshit by any means, but you're here trying to make it out like if she wins it's some huge negative because you are a weirdo.
Vega was great as a manager, but no one takes her seriously when she gets in the ring. This tournament should have been about the women who can actually work. They could have made Shayna a killer by having her decimate the competition and win the whole thing. The way the tournament has played out shows how little faith Vince has in the division as a whole. The entire point of spreading these matches out on TV is to give them time, but we've seen a disparity between how much time the men and women have gotten. This is literally what started the Divas Revolution back in the day: Short ass matches.

Is that the entire point? Based on what information from the WWE? I guess I didn't know that was the intention so that's news to many of us that they were spreading these matches out on tv so the women could have longer matches.

100% disagree saying this tournament is a reflection of how Vince thinks of the division as a whole. You're going to blindly omit Bianca, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and others that don't just come out and have a quick 2-3 minute match. Dwelling on the negative just to fit a stupid narrative.

I would never say the entire division is booked badly. Just the whole women's tournament, excluding the final.

Most KOTR tournaments suck lol. It's not about the journey it's about what they do with the winner. You're either going to be Owen Hart, or Billy Gunn.

This would be a rare occasion where I’d be disappointed if Balor wins a match.

Really happy for Xavier. Both my tourney picks were right!

I think Big E and Roman retain. Not entirely sure who wins the triple threat, probably Becky though.

Dammit. I have a department meeting in like 30 minutes. I have been lucky that I have been working in my office during Crown Jewel so I can run it in the background while I work. Might have to mute it and run it on one screen while I have my meeting on my other screen. Just don't feel like watching it later.

Yeah good match but the finish felt a bit underwhelming.

Still though, no doubt that was the best Crown Jewel we’ve ever had and possibly the best PPV of the year. Good stuff all around though Edge/Rollins stole the show.

I'm only into the Mansoor-Ali match now. I remember Mansoor's debut at CJ and thought he'd be nothing more than a special attraction for these shows but since his pairing with Ali he's really grown on me. I hope he gets a decent midcard push in the next year. While he's not a finished product it's been fun watching him during this most recent buildup to the PPV.

    I’m a Mansoor fan.

The company should really bring back “205 Live” and/or the Cruiserweight title, for the 50% of the roster who will never sniff one of the four big belts.

    Monday - RAW
    Tuesday - NXT
    Thursday - 205 Live

205 live is still a thing. I don't know what day it's on but I see highlights listed on youtube.

That was by far the best Saudi show they've put on by a significant margin.

Didn't catch the pre-show tag bout but heard it was pretty good.

HIAC was everything you'd expect and delivered. Was surprised Edge got the win as I figured the final match was going to put over Rollins but whatevs. Based on Edge's post-match expression I'm wondering if this was his last match?

Ali/Mansoor was fine with Manny getting the obvious win (BUT THHEY ALWAYS BURY PEOPLE IN THEIR HOMETOWN!11 except when they don't). I honestly thought the post-match dude was going to be R-Truth. Decent use of a celeb, though, and that kick was hella quick.

RAW tag title match was fine but nothing special.

I would've been ok with either woman winning the Queen's Crown but I think Vega can do more with it than Doudrop would've so good win. Really sturdy match, too.

Lashley/Goldberg was better than i expected. Impressed with 'Berg's Jackhammer and really one of 'Berg's best recent bouts. I'd have preferred Bobby get the win but storyline-wise it makes sense for Bill to get vengeance for his boy. Spear off the stage looked cool.

Balor/Woods was quite good and I'm thrilled for Woods achieving his dream. Hilarious how neither he or Vega could get the damn cape on properly.

Drew/E was damn good. 'Nuff said.

The women's title triple threat was KILLER. Holy shit. Tons of impressive sequences, fast paced back and forth action, lots of creative and innovative spots. Bianca got to look a beast at multiple points, Becky's seemingly upped her game since returning, and Sasha's always reliable. Match of the night without question.

Brock/Reigns was a little better than just the old "we only know two moves" formula and they mixed things up a bit to keep it more interesting and it was nice to have the face/heel dynamic reversed this go around. Lovely to see the big dive from Roman, don't think he's busted that out since the heel turn yet. Nice bit with Heyman tossing the belt in, I figured Roman was going to keep it on a DQ to Lesnar but nope, Roman gets the pin and that's fine. Seems like they're not done either way so hopefully they can keep things interesting match-wise if they do it a few more times.

Oh yeah, and I really felt bad for the camels.

They really set the bar high with the opener. If there's anything to quote unquote critique, it's that Edge didn't really get all of that stomp and they were able to cover it with a typical quick cut. This was clearly a finale (if you weren't sure, Cole told you as much before the match even started haha), but they're still going to both be on Raw. Two big stars there and they'll have to separate and move onto new things. Rollins will need something to sink his teeth into and then regain some momentum, even though he's a top star for the company. Edge, he basically said Rollins was in his way to get back into the championship picture. Not sure that's the case within the landscape of Raw. He could always find another dream opponent for him and there's certainly options on Raw for that.

Shame Mansoor & Ali didn't get a lot of time, but I thought they made the most of what they were given. Mansoor showed more aggression and that backed up the assertiveness he displayed on Monday. He's developing nicely.

Missed pyro being at the start of Styles' theme. Riddle looked cool riding a camel to the ring. Not a lot else there to this much and that also goes for the rivalry and probably the pairing of Styles and Omos.

Zelina has dealt with a lot of crap since the reports circulated that she was coming back to WWE and I guess this coronation for her was a form of make-good for her. It's not like she's bad in the ring but the book did her no favors for several weeks/months. We'll see if everything is well in terms of booking and motivation for all parties now, with Zelina getting this sudden push. All in all, this tournament lasted for about a combined total of roughly 20 minutes. Shrug...

Goldberg/Lashley was good for what it was and was certainly enhanced due to the stipulations. Like Rollins, Lashley is another heel on Raw who needs a get-right program.

Woods and Bálor had a very good match. I thought the story of the match was that Bálor was trying to dictate the terms of the match by keeping the pace slow and grappling with Woods. That was to subdue the inevitability Woods felt he was on the path towards. Seemed like Woods remained focused and undeniable. Good for Woods getting this after he's been so vocal for wanting it for so long. Kingston's reaction on social media was quite good. This hopefully doesn't go to waste on Smackdown. As for Bálor, I felt like he actually needed this because his trajectory was sliding. That continues now and he moves to a new brand. There's potential for this frustration to lead to a turn, he could challenge E, or having a meeting of the minds with another Brother in limbo, or be the next creative pursuit for Edge.

E/McIntyre was quality. The men were slapping meat and this was a fun haas battle. I thought it was a big moment to see E kick out of the Claymore. I though McIntyre really sold that shock well. It hasn't been totally clean in this reign for E but the big moments have been hit rather well, so a new landscape of Raw with momentum hopefully does well to continue the elevation of E. McIntyre should do well on the Island of Relevancy.

I thought the ladies did very well in the death slot. Very challenging to keep things going at that stage of the show, when the show has been going well over three hours. Man or woman, it doesn’t matter: for one person to hold another grown person in the air with one hand, with ease and no sense of a challenge? That’s just impressive as hell (and props to Sasha). The visual of the dual KOD was the visual I was seeking out but that one by Sasha was just as memorable. In one sense, the story made sense as Bianca was poised to finally get the best of Becky but the triple threat stipulation was the thorn in Bianca's side. In another sense, the story doesn't work because you've got the Smackdown champion on Raw and the Raw champion on Smackdown. I have very little faith that they'll do something creative to move the titles where they need to be.

It's kind of wild that the main event really was a battle between two dominant dudes but the story was really about the guy on the outside. Right from the jump, Heyman with Reigns when Reigns returned created intrigue. Lesnar returning while Heyman was with Reigns created new energy for a very tired feud. While the idea was seeing Reigns and Lesnar collide again, the story was mainly about Heyman and where his allegiance would ultimately reside. From Heyman strategically just throwing the championship in the middle of the ring to create a tug of war, to Reigns likely having The Usos ready to come out because he knew he couldn't fully trust Heyman, there's lots of layers and power moves on top of power moves. The finish isn't ideal but its a means to keep things going which they're clearly going to do at some point. The Bloodline continues to be the best story in WWE, and Heyman remains a dangerous weapon who can flip at the drop of a hat.

Great show. Edge and Goldberg going over may be a touch disappointing, but as it's been said, it made sense given the storylines.

HIAC was excellent, in particular. And I really enjoyed Xavier and Balor.

    Fresh matches all over too.

    Overall, solid 8/10.

And I thought the crowd was more vocal than usual too.

Can we not just look past the country’s politics for once and just appreciate what was a great show. Yes it’s not great but women being allowed to compete is at least a major step in the right direction?

We can do both. It was a damn good show and it's great to see the progress from zero women's matches to multiple but it's still fucking stupid that Randy Orton can go out in just enough fabric to snugly hug his dick and balls but the women have to wear a full-ass bodysuit with an XXL t-shirt over top.

Maybe if Americans didn't act like we had it so bad I wouldn't have to point out what bad really is.

That’s a decent answer and respect that.

Much better than some folk just ignoring it like on social media and blindly just bashing it because of circumstances.

The men were having 10-12 min matches on average in their tournament. The women were averaging 1-3 min in theirs. Excluding the finals, the total match time of the entire tournament is 13:34. How is that in any way a positive representation of what the female superstars have to offer?

They are more than willing to give plenty time to the top women (eg Bianca, Charlotte, Becky et al) but doesn’t spread to the whole division.

I’ve always said this about the women’s revolution, but glass ceiling/pedestal for some but others will find near impossible to break. Naomi was one of those below that ceiling/pedestal but on the positive they’ve acknowledged that and story lining out of that.

This, 100%. Fourteen minutes over six tournament matches? Shiiiiiiiiiiittttt…their ring entrances lasted longer.

Apples to oranges but Roman’s totally awesome albeit awfully drawn out walk to the ring gets 8-10 minutes an episode, sometimes multiple times in a two hour block. FWIW, the company could also not spend 20+ minutes a night on unnecessary recaps of previous episodes.

Because on this same ppv there was a triple threat that went 20 minutes with 3 of the best female wrestlers on the planet.....

Word on the street is that the WWE are giving the women who aren't seen as top priority short matches like in the past. I mean, I can see the reasoning especially if it's also based on people are turning the channel 2-3 minutes into a match with Carmella. So why drag it out?

What people forget is that when wrestling was drawing huge tv, ppv, and attendance numbers----the idea wasn't "Let's have everyone get at least 10 minutes!" Obviously having 20-30 minutes up and down the weekly tv show draws what, 1 million, maybe 2 million if we talk about Smackdown as well--and I bet if you go back maybe 1-2 matches are more than 1 commercial break.

PPV is different, and as it was said, the same ppv we're talking had a 20 minute women's triple threat that was top shelf quality. Just to stick up these white knight's asses even more, this match was the 2nd longest match of the night. Longer than both world championship matches as well.
