5th game feels more like a game from Saw than the usual kid games. It's also a lot like Fall Guys when it comes to them all trying to cross the bridge together.

I knew the bully guy was going to make people go in front of him.

Investor guy is full Walter White now. Pushing the glass maker guy, wow.

Surprisingly shorter episode than the rest but I guess less people is less drama to work with.

I did not expect to see that glass in the girl. What bad luck with the exploding bridge.

Last episode, episode 9

Last game was not a surprise lol.

Had no idea what it was.

Surprised by the lack of testicles hit in what was essentially a street fight.

Ok, biting a foot works I guess.

Stabbing yourself in the neck, ow.

It would suck just having all of that money on a random debit card. I'm guessing it's not in his name so then someone just needs to rob or kill you and take the card so they can have the money.

Sad that he gets home to his mom being dead.

Ooh 1 year later. Digging the facial hair.

I guess the bank account is in his name, weird. Do they not need to explain how you get millions of dollars in Korea?

Yes. It was just announced a few days ago that they will be doing a season 2. I guess this is going to be the most watched Netflix show ever, if not the most watched show on Netflix in general. I mean, those Saw movies do pretty well, I think Wipeout and MXC are just a way to ease us in to the next phase of human entertainment.

Where was it announced? I don't see anything but a fake teaser trailer. It does seem likely since it was a huge hit. The creator said it took him 6 months for 2 episodes so he would hire a team this time.

I did last night. Clever way to set up for a season two. I wasn't sure they would be able to do anything beyond it. Hopefully it doesn't flop and can stay creative like season one.

anyone here watch Alice in Borderland? Somewhat similar concept where losers of a game die. Give that show a watch if you love Squid Game. I might argue that it's better or at least just as good but doesn't get the recognition

Anyone watched season 2 yet? I’ll put plot spoilers in tags since it’s only been out a few days.

My general thoughts are that they once again did an impressive job of balancing lots of different characters and showing the different group dynamics that emerge as things get more desperate.

While it was never going to have the shock factor of the first season, I did think the number and style of games was a let down after such a long wait. And if we don’t get the final season until this time next year, then I would have liked a few more stories developed before the ending.

The reviews seem a lot more mixed for this season, especially with the first two episodes. I actually really liked Gi-Hun’s obsessive search for the recruiter and their showdown gave an insight into both men’s perspectives on the world. I was more than happy with this set-up but I would have liked another episode or two with more games action to make up for it.

I was surprised by the lack of inventiveness to the games this time. There was no environmental danger like season 1 - just people getting shot when they ran out of time. Maybe this was a deliberate subversion of expectations. While the six legged race and mingles didn’t have any creative kills, I was still sucked in by the characters’ struggles. Replaying red light, green light was strange even if it did give Gi-Hun a different role based on his past experience.

I was disappointed that Gi-Hun didn’t discover the Front Man’s identity before we cut to the credits and that Jun-Ho didn’t find out about the boat captain’s actions. I think at least one of those needed to drop as it feels like neither story really advanced much further from the early episodes. Also the woman who was helping to kill the losers of the games didn’t get a moment in the finale so her plot is also up in the air.

I’m sure there’s big stuff planned for all of these characters in the final season but I thought the ending was quite abrupt. If it was a Cobra Kai situation and you were only waiting a couple of months, that’s one thing. But it’s much less satisfying if we’re waiting another year. Summer or fall is being rumoured - the sooner the better.

I watched the first 2 episodes. I will say it has my attention so far, and I am looking forward to more.
