    Extreme Rules (2021)

    Liv Morgan vs. Carmella
The Usos (c) vs. The Street Profits: SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
Damian Priest (c) vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus: Triple Threat Match for the WWE United States Championship
Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Alexa Bliss: Raw Women's Championship Match
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Bianca Belair: SmackDown Women's Championship Match
Roman Reigns (c) vs. "The Demon" Finn Bálor: Extreme Rules match for the WWE Universal Championship

I guess it's good that they're not sprinkling silly stipulations across the card. Curious to see what they make for the kickoff match.

So much for the one night where WWE turns into a DEMOLITION DERBY! Honestly, I'm disappointed it isn't s stip heavy card. Throw a ladder match and a tables match on there, at least, otherwise, it's kind of dumb to be Extreme Rules with only one ER match. Can't say as I'm particularly hyped without the stips to spice things up. The SD Women's and Universal title match both have my interest pretty high but I'm meh to the rest of the card, though I think everything should probably be decent.

A ladder match for the US title would've been a good stip to add. Good for Hardy, good for Priest. I hope there's some pre-show additions for the main show matches. Smackdown tag match feels like it should have something added to it. Should be a good show still.

Hopefully they get their audio shit fixed by main show time. Hearing at least three different languages.

Didn't see the preshow match but glad to hear Liv won and hope the momentum continues for her.

Six-man tag was a surprise but a good won as I like everyone involved and they put on a damn fine bout. Nice big win for E though I was really hoping he would get in there with Omos and maybe do some feats of strength. I expect E vs. Lashley to be a banger on RAW tomorrow. BIG MEATY MEN SLAPPIN' MEAT.

Not much to say about Usos/SP other than it was really good.

Was glad that Bliss/Flair didn't have a bunch of spooky nonsense. Crowd is really into Bliss and Lily even though it's silly so I guess that says something. Really good match. You could actually see Bliss grabbing something as she went under the table post-match, Alka-Seltzer i think, which didn't seem to cause any reaction when she popped it so she just had a big ol' tablet on her tongue when she was screaming which didn't look good. Curious if Lily is dead or if Bliss will resurrect her or what. I remember rumors of Bliss wearing a mask circulating awhile back so maybe she becomes one with Lily and wears a Lily-esque mask?

US Title match could have really used a ladder or table stip. It was fine outside of a couple of big fumbles. I don't really understand the sudden swell of support for Jeff but whatever, a hot crowd is good. I also thought Sheamus was going to do a Swanton when he was doing the Hardy taunts on the top, ah well. Glad Priest retained.

Becky/Bianca was an absolute banger and I want more of them one-on-one later. Completely forgot Sasha existed if I'm honest but happy to have her back int he mix (and I got my prediction bang on thanks to her). Don't really care if Becky's heel turn is taking so long as the crowd is hot and they were big into this match so it's all good, baby.

Loved Reigns anti-table stuff in the main. Loved him donning the mask for the in-crowd bit. He is such a king now. The Demon's revitalization stuff was weird and wild but I was kind of digging it (could have just used the sound effects sans music, though) and i was convinced he was going to just no sell like a mofo and get it done. The rope breaking was pretty damn left field and shocking and the way everyone was selling it makes me think someone was helping out? The way Roman was looking to the sky I guess that was The Lord? I assume it will be shit upon by the majority but it was unique and creative and unexpected as hell and I want those kinds of things so I think it has more pros than cons.

Overall, I thought this was a damn good show.

Fair enough but it seems like most of her recent PPV appearances, they've been pretty behind her. They were super into her at MITB, too. The Charly doll got chants on RAW. I dunno, seems like live crowds are into her shtick a lot of the time.

Are you sure you're not hearing crowd sweetening? I'm not even sure if she's supposed to be a face or heel, to be honest.

Alexa in general is pretty likable though.

It was a good show, but just like every other PPV, in two months nobody will even remember any of the matches on this card. I need iconic moments in my WWE, and I don't think there have been any since Drew McIntyre winning the Royal Rumble. Get with it WWE.

I don't think so. Canned crowd noise is usually pretty obvious. She's just so good and likeable I think people just dig her even if she's doing stupid shit. And maybe her doll thing isn't over with internet nerds but is with your average fan? What's her merch moving like?

Also she's definitely been a face since Wyatt left, feuding with Baszler, Eva, and now Charlotte. Even with him, I think they were the faces against Orton...?

Alexa is a face and she's pretty over.

    We might be overcomplicating this.

This is correct, all of it.

It was the best (only?) way to protect Finn’s Demon character, particularly after the company (read: Vince) belatedly realized that they (he) called that play prematurely.

The Demon is/should be meant for the epic blowoff to a feud which puts Finn over, not as mere filler before Roman goes over Brock in Saudi Arabia.

Decent ppv. 6-man opener was a banger. The women's matches delivered. Sasha Banks returning beating everyone's ass was awesome. Sucks the draft is coming up because I don't see all 3 of them on the same show 2 Friday's from now. Honestly every single match delivered I didn't think anything sucked on the main card. Roman/Demon was incredible, these 2 have wonderful chemistry.

8/10. Demon and Hardy winning might've pushed this to a 10/10.

I almost jumped through the roof when Sheamus brogue kicked Damien priest and then Hardy pushed Sheamus out of the ring and went to pin Priest. Would have been the perfect finish for that match.

Yeah it was certainly different but as far as protecting the Demon goes, it did its job.

When Balor had the 2nd burst I was convinced he was taking the championship. In my head I thought if he did beat Roman he was probably going to have another short reign because I'm sure the Saudi show requires Roman v. Lesnar to be for the belt. Either way, I'm glad Finn is in the top tier. The only 2 guys who are higher up aren't even full time (Lesnar and Cena).

Smackdown is just extremely stacked and I'm really curious to see where they go with Balor.

I was probably the only person thinking The Fiend was going to show up out of the smoke and cause Balor to lose because you could tell he was taking FOREVER to launch off the top.

What was that white stuff in her mouth? It looked like she was trying to foam at the mouth but the tablet didn't dissolve properly. Go back and watch for those that didn't notice, there's some type of alka seltzer tab in her mouth but it looked more like the end of a porn.

Having to protect everyone gets old after a while. If someone can't take a loss, don't put them in the match.

At least explain the turnbuckle breaking. I hope they show a clip from earlier in the day with Truth and Tozawa loosening it. Truth says he has it on good authority that Reginald will be at that spot at precisely "insert time".

Sheamus was on it earlier in the night, he's gotta be what, close to 300? Perhaps that weight loosened it, as I don't think anyone else went to the top after him.

That's the joy of episodic tv. They have to give you a reason to tune in next time. If every show was a bookend it'd suck.

In the tradition of "Who ran down Stone Cold?" and "Who's Vince's son?", the WWE proudly brings you "Who loosened the turnbuckle?".

You’re talking about pro wrestling, aka the sport literally predicated on kayfabe/protecting the industry.

Yeah I don't see this being something they drag out for a year like they did with Stone Cold or several months like they did for Vince's son.

I'll be honest, I thought I heard Pat say it was the Usos. He said something like "And who's to blame for this? The Usos!" But he might've just been talking about the overall nonsense with them interfering.

Who knows, maybe the ropes just broke and that's what they'll run with. It's a lose-lose. If it was someone's fault, people will bitch. If it was self-explanatory i.e. ropes tend to break, people will bitch. I wasn't a fan of the ending but I wasn't negative to it because IMHO it was better than Roman beating him clean with a spear.

Most fans don't want that approach. My best friend thinks everyone is friends with each other and all the heels are actually really cool. We were watching AEW and he was like "I bet MJF is just the sweetest guy" and honestly I bet he is and he's one of the few good actors in the business. But he also thought that about Lesnar and I said naw, he hates people lol. Legit.

I'm very curious to see if The Demon appeals to the Ohio State Athletic Commission seeking to overturn the loss into a no contest on account of a faulty ring.

I thought Charlotte vs. Bliss was better than that. Charlotte is one of the best of all time and Alexa knows her way around the ring. The post match shrieking by Bliss as Lilly was torn to shreds was a bit much, and the alka seltzer botch didn't help any. But the match itself was very watchable.

    Good show all around.

I'd say 2.5 is appropriate for a watchable match.

I think it’s inconsistency on how Bliss has been booked in this character has reared its ugly head. It’s like they are torn between vulnerable and unstoppable. For instance, Shayna downplays Lily, Lily gets revenge and Shayna didn’t do what Charlotte did. Charlotte rips her apart, Bliss should’ve gone straight into angry mode and skipped crying.

I didn't watch the PPV. Did Bliss try any of her mind control powers? It's been weeks since I last saw her use them.

Not really. It was back-and-forth a bit then Charlotte grabbed Lily and the rest is history. No post-match hocus pocus post-mortem Lily consequences for Charlotte either. Just smash doll and there ya go!

She has used mind control and switched characters before…but here it felt rushed. Those two can and will have better matches with each other!

Since Alexa is reportedly taking time off, this match seems like it was set up just to explain her absence. No wonder it was rushed. At least it sounds better than the Alexa/Eva match at SummerSlam.
