Since we're up to the top 6 on some of the lists, by definition there were others who also voted for more than half of yours.

I don't think of Beetlejuice as a villain.

Main characters in movies can certainly be villains. Beetlejuice never did anything to make himself a hero or at least an antihero.

I'm not sure you can say Two Face in Dark Knight is a real villain. More of a tragedy of a hero who lost his mind. Clarence Boddiker is a great shout.

    No shit, Sherlock.

Boddicker is a good call, one of those that I completely forgot about compiling my list.

Two Face is a villain for sure. I mean he only becomes one after the face burning and he doesn’t last long after that but he is a villain with his own villain origin story in that movie.

I don't think of Beetlejuice as a villain.
he tries to trick and manipulate the maitland's, he attacks the deetzes and tries to force lydia to marry him. he's a literal scumbag, and very much the villain of the film, as insanely entertaining as he is. the deetzes are antagonists more than outright villains.

Beetlejuice and Delia are definitely the villains but people get thrown off because BJ fucks with EVERYONE so it seems like the villains are just Delia and Otho.

Shout out to Beetlejuice, one of my all time favorite movies. Michael Keaton doing Beetlejuice and Batman back to back=incredible.

Top 20 of all time? Absolutely not. But his contribution to the Nolan trilogy was great.

ORRRRRRR maybe @Hero! meant he wanted to vote for Tommy Lee Jones' from Batman Forever.

I wish Billy Dee Williams had been able to play Two Face. He played Harvey Dent but that's as far as it went thanks to the studio being a bunch of pussies. OMG Batman Returns is too dark wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Great shout on The Good Son. Culkin was pretty terrifying in that movie.

Agreed. I am ashamed I did not include that performance. Great call Eddie Brock.

When a hero has multiple villains, and one of them is easily considered the "arch enemy", it's tough for me to consider the others as top 20.
Belatrix and the Penguin both fell into that column for me. But both were terrific in their role.

Yeah, Batman Returns is still my favorite Batman movie.

They say parents didn't want to buy those Happy Meals but I remember begging to get a Happy Meal each week so I could get all four toys.

We lived like 30 miles from McDonald's and it was a chore but she got me one each week. The kicker was that 4th week we went to a different McDonald's because we were on a different side of town.

I got stupid Catwoman again when I was expecting the Batmobile with Batman's head poking out. Super disappointed.

I worked a trade on the school bus and got my Batmobile though. I don't remember who with or what I gave up but I got it! I still have it in my TMNT toy chest from the early 90s. A bunch of random toy treasures in there from my childhood.

Anyone who uses their dying words to quote Moby Dick is a great villain.

I’m embarrassed that I forgot Frank Langella’s Skeletor.

Lady Tremaine was a hardcore villain.

Reagan and Leatherface both got cut from mine.

    Animated Joker rules

Josef Heiter is the best. I could watch Human Centipede a thousand times and and never tire of his performance.

again, splitting hairs for the sake of a more diverse list, possessed reagan is still insanely chilling to this day, but SHE isnt the villain, pazuzu is. the horror is in what pazuzu does to this little girl he's taken control of. so pazuzu's villainy is what is channeled through reagan, which is enough of a separation for me to not get on my list

I haven't had very many on my list show up but it's also littered with a lot of iconic villains so it's understandable.

I had a feeling my that was going to happen.

If you haven't seen Chinatown it is must see. I would say it was the best film that year and Godfather 2 came out too.

John Huston is so sleazy in that part and that character is so fucked up.

If we're being tortured to narrow this bitch down to 20 out of 10,000,000 movies over the last 120+ years, we better be more subjective.

I agree with that being why Sauron isn’t higher. Although I guess you could say something similar about Jaws who surely will be highly ranked. I mean Jaws is a lifeless, dialogue-free beast and his brilliance is in now Spielberg presented him rather than in the villain itself. There’s no performance by Jaws.

But in LOTR, while yes Sauron created and is always linked with the ring, the ring is sort of the main villain. The ring does devious shit on its own. Sauron is watching and wanting the ring to come back to him and I guess he’s in charge of making all the orcs but the ring itself does more of the villainous shit

Now there's one that I'm a bit surprised is so low..

Alonzo was a complete gem of a piece of shit and Denzel portrayed him hypnotically.

I would have been in favor of grouping both Pennywises together but it's sort of an in-between situation. Even though it's a fully make-upped character, it's not like Michael Myers where he's really always in a mask and the actor doesn't do a lot of acting. Bill Skarsgård brought a lot to it, and It has a fair amount of dialogue as compared to other horror villains where we might group them in together even though they've been similarly rebooted. So my vote went to the new version when asked to clarify, in part because I haven't seen the old version in a long time so I don't recall it well enough to give it a vote.

As for Shooter, yea I had him 2nd. I feel he should have cracked the top 25 at least. He is a lasting comedic villain. It's Shooter's tour.

It was smart splitting both Pennywise actors just like I'm sure people will do for The Joker (I have 2 different versions on my list).

Shooter is awesome but I don't know if he's a top 25 iconic character. The top 20 on this list are going to be no joke, no dispute. I don't think we're going to see too many "How the fuck did that guy make it?" entrees at the top level.

i didnt expect shooter to make so many lists, and i figured i'd have him the highest if anybody else did vote for him. fucking love that you had him at number two. that's the kind of wild shit i wanna see with these lists.

Yeah, separate penny wises makes sense to me. I think I had 3 different Jokers on my list or maybe just two after cutting.

yea I have seen The Professional once. I know it's highly regarded and I watched it once probably 15 years ago and not seen it since, so I don't remember it well. I recently saw it on Netflix and added it to my list, so maybe I will re-watch it soon. but chalk this up to non-familiarity for me.

I generally value your opinion, so I’ll check it out.

Loki was a great villain, but I think I left him off because of the recent Disney+ stuff has only been just okay, not great.

I really should have thought more about including Jafar on my list
