Love Hot Fuzz. Opened up a new world of movie to me. Was so fun and ridiculous and I love everything about it.

Love Hot Fuzz. Such a great story that unfolds wonderfully. By the end you're with every move Angel is making. I ranked it 9th.
Hot Fuzz is brilliant. I should have had it higher. One of my favourite films to watch with an audio commentary. Wright and Pegg are just fascinating in their approach to films. Too many moments to mention, but I love how the “Fascist! Hag!” line comes back during the shootout at the end.
Cloverfield was almost on my list. One of those films that I really get into when I watch it, but I don’t tend to revisit it very often. I remember the hype around it at the time. It’s interesting to think how it was heralded at America’s big monster franchise and yet other Cloverfield entries went in a different direction and we eventually got an American Godzilla franchise instead.
I would have put the Saw movies in there.
Never saw Cloverfield, not a fan of that kind of camera work through an entire movie at all. One of the sequels looked cool with John Goodman, maybe that's the only sequel IDK.
Hot Fuzz....Saw that once. Not bad. I loved these guys in Paul, Shaun of the Dead, but Hot Fuzz is one that I probably just need to see a few more times. Plus I think I watched it on Comedy Central so they could've edited some cool shit depending on what it's rated.

Two great, great actions films. Taken really was a sleeper hit, a balls to the wall action film but also quite dark. Let's not discuss the sequels.
I think the Bourne Supremacy is also great, I prefer Ultimatum but very very strong action film.
Is Taken the best trailer for completely unknown movie? Was anyone not ready to see that movie after that one?
I remember not hearing about Taken and sitting down to watch after it was released on DVD and being blown away. I was not ready for the ass Liam was about to kick. I ranked it 5th on my list.
I'd bet Comedy Central might have edited it a bit. Depends on their time slot. I've seen some stuff on there later at night that wasn't cut up.
It's a nice slow burn that really pays off at the end I thought.
Yeah I think it was on before midnight lol. After midnight all gloves are off. They get like a certain number of "fucks" but I think it's like 30 because they showed South Park the movie Uncut and it was barely censored.
Taken is a classic.
The Bourne movies all blend together in my head. Not sure which is the best of them.
Taken...It didn't make it on my top 25 but it's incredible. I even liked 2 and 3 because Liam has always been one of my favorites going allll the way back to Next of Kin and Darkman.
Taken is just great. An immortal piece of dialogue when Neeson is on the phone. It must be up there as one of the best 90ish minute movies too. It really zips along.
I went for Bourne Ultimatum but I love all those movies with the exception of the Legacy spin-off.
Really surprised that Shaun of the Dead didn’t make the cut. It’s more accessible than Hot Fuzz and World’s End as they take a few watches to really get into the tone and style (the latter especially), so I just assumed it would be more popular. But the 2000s were such an embarrassment of riches for comedies so I bet many will be missing.

I always enjoyed Gladiator, and it world have been about 26-35 in an extending ranking for me. It was all just a bit too over-the-top, even boarding on gimmicky at times, to break into the upper echelon, imo.
And I love No Country. All the tension, the suspense, the pursuit. These hard ass characters in a hard ass environment with no mercy in sight whatsoever, and they all know it. Just grips the fuck out of you - or me anyway.

Fanbloodytastic. The London and Tangier sequences are some of the best I have ever seen. The best Bourne film.
I was surprised that it ranked above Bourne 2. I always liked Bourne 2 the most but 3 is a great flick and satisfying "ending" to the trilogy.
I mean they are all very good. I would actually rank them 3, 2 then 1. A rare series where it seems to get better each time (until they did that 4th one).
But Ultimatum is just so fucking good. The action set pieces are flawless, the soundtrack also.
A fun poll would be rank the Bourne action scenes. So many great action set pieces across the three films.
Great point about the soundtrack. I hate that genre of music normally but it is perfectly used.

Iron Man is great and I had it 16th. It stands on its own as one of the strongest super hero movies regardless of how it kick started the MCU and led to billions of ticket sales to follow.
Spidey 2 didn't crack my top 25 but it came close. It's been too long since I've seen it and I'm not sure where to place it in the context of all the MCU movies I've devoured in the last 5 years, but it would probably be up there with the better ones. I'm not a big Tobey Maguire fan so it loses some replayability for me on the casting. Love me some Kirsten Dunst, though.
Spiderman 2 was a high point in superhero films at the time, just before Batman Begins came around. I do find the Raimi films to be overly gloomy and the middle act in this one is especially so. But the fight on the train is still really good even if some of the effects were ropey at the time, let alone in comparison to nowadays.
No Country has an incredible atmosphere. The bolt pistol is an iconic weapon and the sound of it clanging on the floor as Chigurh pursues Moss really helps to ratchet up the tension.
Bourne Ultimatum was number 5 on my list. I agree with Romford that the series gets better and better and it remains one of the best endings to a trilogy. I liked Jason Bourne and didn't feel that it tarnished what it came before, but it doesn't have anything that measures up to the Waterloo sequence.
Iron Man was low down my list but it's still very rewatchable and has stayed firmly in my second tier of MCU films. It'll be interesting to see how Marvel fills out the 2010s list when we get around to it. Infinity War will be top 5 for me easy.
i had this just outside my top five, at number six. before going to the theater, i had seen fargo and i thiiiiiink miller's crossing, as far as coen brothers films went. i'd heard good things about this one, but wasn't really aware of what it was about, so i was going in mostly blind, and holy shit did this movie smack me in the face. the tension, the cat and mouse story. every single one of the three main performances are understated, but are so well defined and brought to life, and match the tension of the plot while complimenting each other. it always feels like llewelyn is improvising and staying just enough of a step ahead to survive, that anton is aware of so much and playing out each moment and that ed is lagging behind putting together the pieces that the first two leave behind. the pneumatic bolt is an ominous piece of film weaponry. and the sound effect for the silenced shotgun has always stuck with me. absolutely love this movie.

I’m a little surprised Basterds isn’t higher. I had it 6th. I think a strong case can be made for it being Tarantino’s best movie. It’s pretty damn flawless in my view. I still wish we got Sandler as the bear jew. I think the scene where they’re pretending to be Italian at the opening would have been a lot funnier with Sandler in there.

It had the highest average (tied with the next film) for the lowest average. It just did not get many total votes. I don't know if people don't like it or if they just rated it like 30th. I had it 10th and I was the lowest vote it got.
and probably my least favorite. my wife and i were talking about this movie the other night while out at dinner, cause it's her favorite tarantino film, too. i saw it with a bunch of co-workers after our shift at the midnight release, pretty hyped for it. the whole grindhouse experiment he did with rodriguez a couple years prior is one of my favorite cinema experiments ever, with death proof actually making my list at number twenty-five, so basterds was coming off that wave of artistic joy i was feeling about him, and it absolutely let me down. i found it self-indulgent, even for a tarantino film, and lacking thematic cohesion, which is something he tends to do pretty well. stuff like the big HUGO STIGLITZ stinger before we see the flashback of his was a bit out of nowhere at that point in the film, but i was kinda on board, thinking 'oh, they're gonna introduce all the basterds this way.' but nope, that's the only time that happens. the bear jew doesn't get the same fanfare, and that's about the extent of backstory we get introduced to with the individual basterds. it just did not hit well with me. there were some great scenes and performances, but couldn't hold a candle as a film and story to his other works. this left such a meh feeling with me that i haven't seen a single film he's released since.
and on the other end of the spectrum, there will be blood was number two on my list. there are few movies that are so driven by a singular performance, to such a degree as this. daniel day lewis as daniel plainview might be the best acted role in the history of cinema, for my money, and my appreciation of it has only grown over the years. the story is so simple and so tragic and encapsulates so much of the american dream; the compromises that are birthed from the struggle to achieve it and the horrors that grow and infect once the plot has settled. it's a beautifully shot film, to boot. the gas explosion at the rig scene probably being the best example of what makes this film so great; the cinematography, the tension, the frantic soundtrack, DDL, so many of the themes on display. FUCK, i love it.

Overindulgent feels pretty spot on for Basterds, as much as that is to say for a Tarantino work. Well crafted as it could be from a pro like QT, I just didn't get connected with the degree of on the fly fan fiction tale it was.
PTA meets DDL though, my effin goodness. Plus the period plus the source material plus Paul Dano plus Johnny Greenwood.. it was just a complete masterstroke. The fuck there was a better film of that decade, imo.

I should probably go back and rewatch them all. I remember liking it but agreed with the consensus that it didn't need to have 27 more endings after the Ring was destroyed.
I had the 3 LOTR movies as my top 3. They were the best films of the decade in my view and seeing them in the cinema was very memorable. These were some of the only movies I saw multiple times. I was like those nerds in Clerks 2 counting how many times they saw each.
But I wasn't exactly sure how to rank them 1 to 3 because it's been a while since I've watched them. I went reverse order with ROTK at the top, but that might change when I re-watch them which I'm currently doing. HBO Max has the extended versions so I'm going in on those - I already finished Fellowship. I'm actually really pumped to watch these because I don't think I ever saw the extended versions. I owned the DVDs for all 3 regular versions.
I don't know if it is something about storytelling or just a coincidence but I like Two Towers best, just like I like Empire best. Not having to set up the start or resolve everything allows for better movies I think.

My #4. I'm not really a huge fan of this genre but for some reason the original trilogy really grabbed me. I didn't really care for the Hobbit trilogy, but I dug the book back in high school.
When Return of the King came out on DVD I took a day off from work to watch all 3 in a row. When my boss asked me the next day why I took the day off, my response just made her do a silent 180 and walk off lol.
Tried watching a couple of LOTR flicks a couple different times, just never stuck.

I just realized I wasn't even paying attention to the fact it was LOTR RETURN OF THE KING that made the list. I thought it was the first one.
Batman Begins...I'm a huge fan of Batman but this movie is in my bottom tier of Batman movies. It doesn't suck, but it took me about 5-6 viewings to really appreciate it. I wasn't sold on Christian Bale as Batman until TDK.
I watched There Will Be Blood when it came out, but I honestly cannot remember much. I know it got a lot of praise though!
My favorite superhero origin film of all time, and one of the top few overall. I had it 12th.
It zeroed in strikingly at Wayne's motivations and the mechanisms that propelled him to eventually be renowned Dark Knight. And the grounded nature that Nolan provided was also the facelift that seemed to lay the foundation for superhero movies to eventually be regarded as more than simply comic book irreverence. A composed and competent filmmaker taking the genre by the reins.
And of course absolutely wonderful casting, and ultimately performances, from Bale, Neeson, Caine, Oldman, Freeman, Murphy, and Wilkinson were driving forces in this film as well as setting the stage for the Dark Knight trilogy to come.
I had Begins at 15 but should have had it higher. It’s an incredible origin film which puts Bruce Wayne front and centre, which is why the trilogy works so well because TDKR brings it full circle back to his journey.
I think the Ra’s Al Ghul twist is really underrated. The League of Shadows scenes seem like part of a superhero-in-training aesthetic and are seemingly forgotten about once Bruce returns to Gotham, until the party at Wayne Manor.
The Joker card, along with “And you’ll never have to”, make for an absolutely killer ending.

so i think it's well enough known how huge of a batman fan i am. the dark knight was my favorite film of all time until i saw avengers endgame on opening night. all the nolan batman films rate highly with me. with that said, i didnt put a single superhero movie on my list, on purpose. i wanted to make room on my list for other films that maybe dont have such high visibility from this specific decade, and i knew there would be enough votes for them without mine added on.
i saw batman begins in the theater when it first released, and i had no idea what to expect. thinking back to the time, i didnt really follow or pay any attention to news about the production. i dont even know if i watched the trailer before going, which stands in contrast to three years later when i would rewatch the dark knight trailer multiple times a week and would participate in the ARG they had going. it came out in june of 2005, just after i graduated high school, so it was a weird time of transition in life. i am a child of the 90's and the batman films we saw that decade took up a large portion of my heart and mind, and i loved them. still do, to be honest.
so batman begins hit at a time where i was just grown up enough to get invested in a grounded, character driven take on the franchise, and it was mind blowing. from the deep look at bruce's training and the way they weave the backstory of his parent's death into it, to the organic way he acquires all his equipment and creates the iconography we come to associate with the batman, and then the twist with ra's al ghul and the climax of the film, to the final scene on the rooftop where we get the bat signal and the joker tease. i was not expecting such a rich, detailed take.
bale instantly became MY batman with his performance. the duality of bruce the public figure and the private broken child was played wonderfully, especially compared to other live action takes on the character. all of the supporting cast knock it out of the park, as well. i actually like katie holmes as rachel in this. the humor provided by caine and freeman. oldman owning the gordon role. neeson with a wonderfully understated take on a batman villain. murphy giving life to a non-marquee member of the rogue's gallery.
my appreciation for it grew as years passed and i started to get into reading old comic arcs and graphic novels, realizing just how much love for the lore was put into the film. it's such an incredibly satisfying film.
I think 6 are pretty obvious; the other 3 are surprising some what. But all 9 are worthy of their spots

Semi-surprising to me. I wasn't even sure it would be the top Pixar move, let alone make it to the Top 10. I thought we were too tough to admit we all liked it.
This was the one kids movie I had to put on my list. IDK if I can even call it a kids movie. I like it, visually it's awesome, looked great in the theatre. It's a movie that I could literally watch with any member of my family and nobody will say shit.
a lot of the big pixar movies of the 2000's slipped by me. seen every pixar release up to monster's inc., then have only seen four of what they released after(ratatouille, wall-e, toy story 3 and inside out) usually years from the release. i dont know why, exactly, but i just never get an itch to watch most of them, even when they get great reviews.
Fucking love Finding Nemo. First I saw it I rolled a huge blunt with my lady and watched it at like 4 A.M., expecting it to just be background noise. Nope, got sucked right into this movie. I ranked it 12th.

Very glad Nemo ranked this highly. I had it 10th. It’s probably my favorite Pixar flick. That intro scene is so good. I mean super sad but the way the music and the title sequence hits is powerful.
The animation is awesome. The story and the voice acting and the script… it’s really pretty flawless in my view. Toy Story 1 would be my other favorite but I think Nemo takes the cake.
