Best Commentary Team of All Time

    [Scott Hall]”Hey Yo!”[/Scott Hall]

Survey time! Who is the best commentary tram of all time? We can extend this to a proper competition and votes of all time but let’s see who all gets nominated.

Monsoon/Heenan (who I personally push), JR/King who will be up there and also JR/Heyman. Definitely Ventura/Vince and Monsoon/Ventura is a worthy nomination as well.

Can also extend this to other promotions as well but post your favourite commentary teams here. Not individuals but teams.

Keeping it solely WWE I have to say Jim Ross and Jerry the King Lawler. Monsoon and Bobby Heenan would be a close close 2nd. I was also a big fan of Monsoon and Ventura.

Vince McMahon's best run IMHO would either be with Jerry Lawler or the trio of him, Lawler, and Jim Ross.

I’m willing to expand this to other promotions. Just posted it here first for most attention.

Monsoon is the most underrated individual contributor of all-time.

I actually think Monsoon/Heenan had the best chemistry. If you look at the quality of matches when the #1 weekly program was superstars, and compare it with even an average episode of Raw...Monsoon and Heenan often had their work cutout for them.

Ross/Lawler probably are the greatest overall duo. you have to factor in longevity. And they were really a part of more than their fair share of iconic moments. Heel King was someone you could hate without it being the main part of the show. Even their quirks became catchphrases for wrestling fans. they both had their bad moments and time periods, but I'm not sure anyone else could be considered the soundtrack for WWE like they were.

I loved Ventura, because to that point there had never been a heel commentator.

I also thought that McMahon and Patterson were a great duo, but that's probably just nostalgia.

But I'd have to go with Heenan and Monsoon were the best team. As much as I loved JR/King, Heenan's one liners followed by the inevitable "Will you STOP?" from Gorilla were entertaining every week.

More recently, I always enjoyed Tazz/Cole, as I thought Tazz was underrated.

Pretty sure Byron Saxton and Mike Adamle are better than Tazz.

There are lines in life that we shouldn't cross Donald.

Tazz and Excalibur pissing around and corpsing on AEW Dark is their best work.

He and Excalibur are the most natural commentary duo i can remember since Tenay and West. They just riff off each other really well and since it's Dark and not the main show, they can get away with a lot of absolute nonsense.

Greatest commentary duo will always be JR/King for me, though.

Memphis Studio wrestling might be the best tv wrestling ever, and it doesn't work without those two. Especially Lance. He best lead commentator in wrestling history.

The Lawler vs Funk empty arena match is one of the most famous matches ever and would not work without Lance at all.

    Give it a watch.

They are an underrated duo. If we did a top 20 I would not be shocked to find them in most people's top 15. Especially younger fans who came up in the Cena/Batista era.

in the past i'd be inclined to give a contrarian answer but it has to be JR and king. they just added to much to the product, helped make it so memorable and feel special.

vampio and matt stryker in lucha underground were super underrated as a duo. not the best of all time obviously. but there hasn't been a better english commentary team since them.

    Gorilla and Bobby.

    JR and King.

    Gorilla and Ventura.

    Macho Man and Vince.

I could listen to these tandems any time.

Todd Pettengill didn't do much commentary but he did a little and for that I will mention the Toddster. Not the best but better than some of the people they trot out there now. Guy was super talented.
