Yeah, all we have to do is open a tin and our cat will appear about 5 seconds later.

So we have 9 split between Caito and Kangus and we need to hammer or suffer the consequences so what are we gonna do here because as always day one is like the blind leading the blind.

Dreyski (Stan) voting kangus doesn't surprise me. They've went back and forth for multiple games.

Bluegunns vote did seem weird to me.

The Caito train on the other hand seems like it picked up speed really quickly and is setting off red flags.

I'm also not sure if Caito cares if he's lynched which makes me wonder if he might be jester in which case we definitely shouldn't lynch him.
TBH, the variance I've seen from Kangus doesn't seem to be tied up with scum or town, as I've seen him very engaged in both. Just a guess, but I'm thinking its more schedule based.

I do agree with you on the Caito train. Classic quick pick-up and stall.

    In general-

The bluegunn vote is mildly the most concerning to me. Went after virm right after he mentioned Bert. And then switched to kangus pretty fast. This could also bluegunn trying to be more active on day 1. I'm curious how the night plays out.

The only thing giving me more pause on that is how fast the Caito train picked up that point.

I would not hammer Caito right now.

I'm not 50/50 on anyone yet.

    Vote No Lynch.

    8 P.M.

The party goes from 0 to 100 in no time flat. Everyone was enjoying themselves, although the TMNT were making themselves look more like pigs than turtles.

"Must be a full moon" someone said but the voice wasn't really recognized because everyone was in awe of the TMNT just devouring massive amounts of Pizza in front of them.

It is now 9 P.M. and the Night phase has begun. Send me your actions.

Well, we close on our house next week.

Our landlord also texted us yesterday and said they want to sell this house we've been renting so that worked out, they're going to move our lease expiration date up so now we're going to move last week of June.

Now I just need to get a fence put up for the dogs and the house painted before we move in.

Internal or external for the paint?

    Internal.

    The house itself is beautiful.

The colors they chose are horrible though. Salmon pink living room, green "sitting room" (the room when you walk in) some weird purple for one room which was a kids room and then light blue for another room.

It was on the market for 9 days before we made our offer. The paint is the only reason I can think of why, homes get snatched up quick.

For a while we would make a list of houses and they'd be under contract before we could even go see them a few days later.

    Congrats Bert!

Yeah get that painting done or it'll never get done. I'm still staring at this cream plaid wall paper. My wife and I keep saying it's first to get done but we end up pushing it off.

When we bought in January that was the same. Flying off the market. The one we bought was a little further out than the hottest spot (but we actually liked the area more).

But we still made an offer a few hours after it was open.

That's a bit of a mixed color palette. Though I actually like seafoam (lighter green with some blue) as a room color. I painted the main level of my last house that color and it worked well. Thinking about doing the lower level of the new home that color some time. Gotta do the kids' bedrooms this summer. They're picking their own colors, so probably be a mixed bag.

Like one will probably be light blue with a pink accent wall. But fuck it, if that's what they want.

Any tips for someone who's never painted? I would rather hire someone but if it's too much I will probably be doing it with my friend who has at least painted his own house.

Do you edge tape around the windows or just the baseboards? The ceiling also has some weird piece that comes down in the corners that I'm unsure what to do about.

When we did the nursery we taped the windows and base boards. I'd probably tape the piece in the corner you have.

    I'm a sloppy painter though.

Gotta get that window taped to get a clean edge. And those trim brushes.

If you don’t use tape for edging (I don’t), allow me to give you perhaps the dumbest advice that I guarantee works as long as your hand is steady.

    Don’t breathe.

Seriously, take your paint stroke slow and hold your breathe, you’d be amazed how staring you can be without hitting a spot you don’t want to.

Please remember that Caito probably did 3 laps around a drive thru restaurant prior to giving you this advice.

He likely threw away an entire deep dish pizza right before he held his breath for an entire painting project.

    That's got me curious.

@Caito what did you do about indoor dining being closed at fast food restaurants last year? Do you have it delivered? Or do you just cook instead?

Haha no, on the few cases where I got it (I’m really trying to cut back and out entirely, my metabolism is slowing way the fuck down) I’d go in, get it, and go back to my car.

I say few cases, unless you count coffee in the morning, which is an every day thing for me.

Where I live most places had 0 dine in and the doors were locked. Your only choice was drive thru.

I don't drink coffee so I never considered coffee.

Going inside just for a cup of coffee seems insane.

I used to drink tea and rarely touched coffee growing up. As a working man now, that’s completely flipped and coffee is a necessity lol.

I have never understood people's need for coffee. It's a mental crutch like smoking.

I don't drink coffee. Never really thought it was that good. My wife, however, gets a medium Ice Mocha with cream and liquid sugar every dam day.

Let's not even bring up the 3 or 4 coffee makers I've bought her over the years. This past Christmas I even got one that makes Ice coffee. She used it for like a week or so. Now it collects dust.

Alright Bert, couple other things I could mention on the painting.

In the rooms, I almost always start with the ceilings. Simply cuz if you’re gonna splatter onto walls, you wanna do it before you start painting them with your color.

When you cut the edges, don’t be afraid to be heavy with it (as long as you aren’t leaving large runs of paint). There’s a chance you can eliminate the need to cut the edges a second time, but don’t count on it. If you do have to cut the edges a second time though, keep in mind you probably don’t have to go all the way to the exact edge you did before. If you’re an 1/8 of an inch away, you’ll never see it when it dries.

One more note on cutting and ceilings. If you don’t have any moulding, when you do the edges of the ceiling, don’t worry about if you get ceiling paint on the walls. You’re covering it anyways. (Doesn’t mean be sloppy with it).

When you roll, go in the direction of the arm on your roller. That should be where the most pressure on your pad will be. And don’t worry about “stretching” the paint when you roll. That will probably make you have to do extra coats anyways.

Also, when you roll, if you notice lines developing, try to go over them quickly, and know it’s probably from putting too much pressure as you roll. If you leave lines, they can be really fucking hard to cover up on subsequent coats.

Other thing that you don’t have to do, but I do for work, is after a coat is dry and before I begin a second, I’ll lightly sand the walls. Usually 220 sandpaper. It just helps if there was sentiment in the paint and therefore leaving high spots, or if you overdid it in an area or if paint ran somewhere and you missed it before.

    Anything else, lemme know.

Sorry, I forgot the most important thing.....

Take your time. Don’t worry about getting things done fast. You’ll fuck up that way. Just get it right, that is better every time.

I had to look up what cutting the edges was even though I thought I knew just from context.

I don't think we're going to paint the ceilings but we're going to walk through the house when we close next week and decide for sure.

Everything else seems like good tips, thanks.

FREEDOM! Today was my last day with students for the year. For more days of postplanning and then out for the summer! Yay!

    Catching up on the chatting...

    Tuna is gross.

I wouldn't mind trying scallops on a pizza now. I've had lobster pizza twice. One was good, one was bad.

    Congrats on your house, Bert.

    I wasn't a huge fan of seafood.

Then I worked in a Red Lobster kitchen for 3 years.

The smell of seafood makes my stomach flip.

Also you think you can work all day at the Lobster, run home, shower, go to the bar and not smell like fish? You are wrong. That stuff soaks into your pores.

How many people call pizza za? I knew a guy, Brendan, through a friend who called pizza za and coupled with his annoying voice should have been slapped everytime for saying it. We were all in NYC for Rumble 08 and all he said that weekend was "Let's get some za." etc.

I will admit to calling it za when talking to my wife about ordering once I found out she hated it. Fires her right up.

Probably the BBQ Chicken is about the craziest I've gotten. I usually just stick to the basics with some kind of meat. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to a lot of foods.

Almost everything we eat and drink contains drugs. Pizza is the number 1 most addictive food/beverage in the world. I don't go eating pizza everyday.

My Sicilian Grandmother made pizza that was perfect. Since her death, all other pizzas I have had pale on comparison. Just endless disappointment every time I order from any chain or local pizza joint.

You probably eat something with fat in it every day.

But that's besides the point. Caffeine and Nicotine have actual withdrawal symptoms. As much as I don't drink coffee and will only have tea or caffeinated beverages from time to time and also have never smoked. Don't just say "it's a mental crutch" because it's more than just that.

Yes but the chemical effects do not compare to the release of dopamine and adrenaline you get in the brain with nicotine and caffeine specifically.

There's a lot more to it than just a "mental crutch", it's your brain chemistry as well. Ir's not something you can just easily give up like foods.

If you've never tried or barely tried things like nicotine or don't drink a lot of caffeine in general, good for you but addiction is not as easy for those who rely on it for years.

I drank caffeine non stop as a kid until about 25. I'm talking like 6 or 7 cans of soda a day. Definitely way more in the summer. I switched up my habits and went towards things in the zero calorie range. I still drink things with caffeine in it on occasion (like diet sunkist) but I have never had a point in my life where I was craving anything with caffeine in it. I've known several people who kicked soda to the curb and never looked back. I've also known people who whine all day long if they don't get their caffeine regularly.

I definitely see nicotine as way more addictive and harder to beat. Caffeine just doesn't make sense to me. I know know research is there and proven I've just never had a craving for it in my life.

It's all in the metabolism though really and the effects can vary from vary. You probably have built up tolerance to it.

I don't drink loads of coffee throughout the day but given my sleep patterns can be shit, I do rely on it more to get me up in the morning.

Fat and sugar act in the same method and manner as nicotine does while salty food triggers dopamine. You will notice coffee didn't make the top 10 but non diet soda did. This has been completely broken down on a chemical level. Not sure how well you did in chemistry though

Yes but there are many variables like metabolism and your source is probably just a cross-study.

There's a local place here that does craft pizzas. I've never been, but they have two pizzas that I really want to try. One is a French Dip pizza topped with shaved prime rib, onions, and cheese, with an au jou dipping sauce. There's also a Fried Chicken Dinner Pizza. I have no idea how they do it, but it's topped with mashed potatoes, cheese, roasted corn, and fried chicken. It's the one I most am interested in.
