He took it to an extreme on TV indeed. I don’t know the man behind the character at all but still a tragic ending to a human life.

    RIP

I just saw the mad man calling someone out on Facebook like two days ago.

The guy was entertaining but was an absolute liability and a danger to his colleagues. The mass transit incident, tasering a guy off a scaffold, stabbing someone in the ring. Absolute nutjob.

Shit, me too. I always had this idea that he would show up as a one off in the Royal Rumble when a bunch of lower tier guys were in there and scare the shit out of them and they'd jump out of the ring. Not to be morbid, but I wonder if he did die the way he said he would, with a drink in his hand a mountain of coke. Sad, man.

    Heart attack.

I think New Jack was a little crazy but was also still kayfabing. Was that part of DSOR? I remember someone saying he was a different guy when the camera wasn't on him.

I'm so glad WWE posted about it. I can only imagine the reactions if they didn't.

How do you figure? He never worked for them. Its not as if they offered condolences to one of the wrestling legends.

What? Clearly it doesn't matter whether he worked for them or not. They acknowledged it.

Im aware they did. Wasn't my question. You said you can only imagine the reactions, implying them not acknowledging it would garner a negative reaction, and I'm curious as to how you figure so?

WWE owns ECW but I still don't think it would be a big deal if they didn't say anything about him.

Ok........ all but one of these people worked for WWE. Nancy Benoit didn’t.

I can see the argument for being annoyed if they aren’t mentioned or given a retrospective, but again, New Jack never worked for WWE.

And sorry, but he isn’t exactly some legend in the industry. At least, if he is, it isn’t for the right reasons.

You are literally the only one arguing anything regarding whether he worked for the company or not, which has already been proven to be irrelevant. So, I'm not sure why you keep bringing that up.

    Because it is relevant.

At the end of the day, they acknowledged his death, even before Herman’s segment on Talking Smack. So maybe it doesn’t really matter? But in replying to your implication that there would be a negative reaction if they didn’t, I can’t see the argument where it would’ve been a big deal at all if they didn’t. And one of the reasons would be that.

EDIT Perhaps I’m going about this the wrong way. Why do you think it would have been a negative reaction if WWE didn’t acknowledge New Jack’s passing?

Apparently new jack wanted a gangsta funeral. There's a gofundme set up for funeral expenses and the goal is 50k.

New Jack on VladTV was dope. He wore a nice suit, kind of disputed all the crazy shit he said and did as just being in character. Check it out on YT.

New Jack is 100% a legend in this industry. You can say "It isn't for the right reasons" and I ask what reasons would that be?

Innovator, awesome on the mic, iconic. NBK hits, you knew someone was taking a Godzilla to the dick.

People act like he killed Mass Transit lol. No, that was Burger King.

Hey, nobody even asked for yours. Personally, I don't understand why people like you even chime in like you need to point out negativity after someone dies.

Looks like New Jack did his job because a dude pushing 40 was completely worked.

Is someone else you’re talking to pushing 40?

Anyways, my questions and my curiosity over this has probably derailed the thread enough.

Heyman in that Talking Smack segment said he wasn't sure if New Jack was playing a joke so people would talk about him, then say gotcha, so, like Pillman, he was a unique in his craft in that even the people that worked with him didn't even know if he was "working" them. But he also said Jack was the most gangsta in a gangsta promotion. Whether or not he should be considered a legend is debatable. But for me, he was a part of the notable cast of characters from ECW.

Damn shame about New Jack. Say what you want about the dude(real or not), he was definitely a hardcore legend. New Jack was the type of dude you'd be scared to meet and say the wrong thing around. He kept kayfabe super real, whether through performance or blurred lines, and he's had some of the most fun hardcore matches to watch.

Listened to "Natural Born Killaz" a couple times this weekend. I want to watch some old Gangstas matches(like against The Eliminators), but I refuse to watch them until I can find versions with unedited music.

I have a lovely selection of original Delta ECW DVDs, with all the original music intact.

RIP New Jack. Nobody else like him, thankfully.

Lucky bastard. I used to have a collection of ECW VHS from RF Video, but I either let someone borrow them and never got them back, or they slipped into the ether somewhere between all my moves. And now I'll never have them again because I ain't ordering off RF Video anymore.

I had a few anyway, but about 3 or 4 years ago, I found a load at my local market, in pristine condition. £2 each, I think.

So I picked up the remaining ones I didn't have.

I think all PPVs have the original themes, maybe barring the last PPV they ever did. Would need to check.

I wish the wrestling gods would just say, "This shit is too raw with the licensed music to not be seen," and made it so no one sued anyone for airing ECW with original themes. It's a duty to the people of Earth to be quite honest.
