Uh oh. Psych might be posting with an increased clarity.

Or he might be like George Costanza and it will have the opposite effect.

let's see how this plays out.

I think Psycho forgot this isn't Pride judging and the entire debate is what is considered. Dude...You had some bullets left, I've won a debate having a shit final post lol.

    Fired.

To be fair, i almost did the same thing when i felt like Mikey slammed me so well with his last post. Managed to slap something together but had no confidence in it.

I guess if he got you to that point then more power to him.

I would not do that. There's always a point to be made somewhere.

    Congratulations, Mikey. You earned it.

I'm sorry for anyone disappointed by me basically conceding. It was a combination of getting ready to leave for my flight out of town while struggling to come up with a final post and the simple fact that I felt I had nothing to counter Mikey's second post. I was a bit ambiguous with Punk/Roman, and I felt I was rightly taken to task for that mistake. That's not to take away from Mikey's argument at all. But ultimately, I felt I had nothing to shut down Mikey's arguments in his final post, and since I was already short on time, I basically said fuck it.

Thanks to all the time that went into organizing this, and I still had fun. Thanks to Mikey for putting up a strong debate worthy of the trophy regardless of my concession. And again, sorry for anyone disappointed, but YOLO.

As I said in my post in the thread, I kinda suspected you were short of time as I felt you would’ve brought the fire more otherwise.

Hope you’re in next year. I might compete next year and we get that rematch.

@Mr_Nobody don’t know how invested you are right now in the current product but would love to see you in action next year too!

I have close to zero investment. I kind of keep up through the write-ups, and thanks to having Peacock, I've been watching the occasional PPV, but I haven't watched wrestling regularly in probably 10 years, so I don't think I would be very good at this.

Not always current stuff though. Often the “time machine” gimmick comes into play along with other stuff.

The best arguments I feel are won with research and logic cutting your opponent down, not necessarily how much you watch the current product.

And has there ever been another type of debate, outside of wrestling. I feel as if the Board Games Forum could have some fun with it.

There was Fiction Fight where people would pick a fictional character and argue why they would win in a fight against their opponent's fictional character.

mth seems to be hinting at something akin to Fiction Fight coming up soon.

I beat Hero! with Alan Partridge in that. Tops the Defrost Spirit Squad in the comp for most ridiculous of victories

    https://forums.rajah.com/showthread....tridge+Hero%21

    And you voted against me...

Yeah I have a thing that might be pretty rad or totally stupid. Probably could get things rolling pretty soon now that this has wrapped up...so, keep your eyes peeled and your assholes puckered.

If that was run by Jamie Oliver it’d be called pukkabutt.

Pretty well known chef from UK and known internationally that liked to say “Pukka” quite a lot.

Surprised you don’t seem to have heard of him (though tbf he doesn’t really say that these days but thought that’d be picked up).

Fun guy to watch on TV but don’t go to his restaurants if you want a full meal. Fine dining micro machine portions that break your wallet.

It's actually a line from the Schwarzenegger flim Eraser (I just checked myself and it's "open" not "peeled" but the rest is right).

However, I can offer my grandpa's life advice, which was, "Keep your nose clean and your bowels empty."

I will admit to being a little disappointed that you basically conceded, because I was enjoying how well the debates were going. If I found myself in your situation, I'd probably have done the same thing - Mikey had already clearly won. He deserves the accolades. I wanted to say I think this was a pretty classy acknowledgement on your part. You've explained your actions, but managed to do so in a way that did not take any due credit away from the great job Mikey had done.

In past years, there was a fan vote as well as the judges votes. Why was that done away with for this year?

Response has been decreasing. Sometimes the fan vote was 6 or more. Sometimes it was two unless we begged. Participants also expressed that they often didn't like voting in other tourney matches (potential competitors, etc).

This helped make sure everyone had a consistent experience.

    Hooooooooo!!!!
Full story. I can't remember the exact details, but it was a three-way final, and the argument was to pick anyone you'd like as the best wrestler in the world or best of the 21st century and go on with it. Someone (I want to say JayD) picked Guerrero before I had a chance, and it was clearly the correct choice. I had the choice in my head to either argue for Benoit, which my heart wasn't totally in even though I loved his work at the time, or have some fun with it and gimmick post arguing for HHH. There was a poster at the time whose name I've long since forgotten who was a huge Poochhhie mark, and he had a distinct style of posting, green text, everything. It was an absolutely joy to write, it was probably the funniest thing I wrote here.

After the first post, which was extremely long, intentionally in violation of the debate rules, I slept on it and felt kinda bad. I don't think I'd have done it if it weren't a three-way matchup, because there was still space for the remaining two (I think it was JayD and Chirs) to go at it formally. But it was the culmination of a long tournament, a lot of people had legitimately put in great work, and I'd gotten to the finals and basically given the people a finger poke. Granted, it wasn't a finger poke. It was laid out like an actual pro-HHH argument, just to the extreme. It wasn't really easy, either, it was no less work than formulating an actual argument. And, if I may put aside any false modesty, it was funny, both situationally and in terms of what I wrote. But I definitely used my status on the board to get away with a dickish thing that a lot of posters of different status wouldn't have gotten away with and I recognized that and I don't blame anyone who thought less of me for it.

Hope you all are hangin' in there.

Yeah it was you, Chris and JAYD.

Shame the very old Wilfred’s threads have been pruned.
