The only bad thing about this show is how the hell would you do a season 2.

    Another great episode.

    I don't think there's a plan to, is there?

That episode made me cry at
    ffs. It's so unrelentingly brilliant.

At this time there is not a plan for another season. Wanda is in the next Dr. Strange movie. I think this was just like a one off thing to tell this particular story.

Holy fucking shit at that episode.

Thought that episode was a bit of a clunker to be honest, wasn't really gripped by the flashbacks although it got better as it went on and as ever Paul Bettany smashed his parts. But the credits stinger was effective.

At tthis point, Im kinda glad everyone who was thirsting for Mephisto is coming up empty. Aside from 'tHats hOw iT wEnT iN tHe cOmIcS', there's no solid evidence of anything beyond Wanda and Agatha's magic being in play.

Im just confused how Haywood is tracking vibranium inside the field when he's had Vision's body the whole time.

Is the scene with Haywood and Wanda at SWORD the scene they shot but deleted from use at the end of Endgame?

Agreed. It wasn't one of the better episodes IMO. I wish they had gone a little more dark with the witchcraft stuff. A little more The Conjuring and a little less Hocus Pocus. And yea the flashbacks were a little too expository, but as you said it got better as it went along. The scene in the Avengers compound was really good.

    Plot wise:

Dope episode. Really enjoyed the flashback stuff developing the characters. Some great emotional bits in there. And oh my god, the post credits scene!

I'm going to try to stay up to watch the finale when it airs tomorrow night. Dumb ass 3am air time. I will never understand why they don't release it in primetime. I would suggest 10pm east coast, 7pm west coast would be ideal. We have the technology.

Disney+ isn't primetime and I don't think any other streaming service of that level has set times for when their original program airs on demand. They're not trying to have a tv format.

This doesn't make much sense to me tbh. It's not a live sport or event just watch it when you wake up (and before you go on twitter)

Yeah it is 2am for me so I just stay off social media and try to squeeze it in at work in the morning on one of my monitors while I am working on things at my desk. If I can't do that then I watch it on my lunch break.

I get that streaming is different than normal TV, but most streaming sites drop full seasons in bulk. In that case, I have no beef with when they drop it. If you're choosing to do a weekly drop (which I'm a fan of) then you're already mimicking regular tv to an extent. I say take it a step further and drop the new episode at a normal time. ESPECIALLY for a show like this (or Mandalorian) which are super theorized about and spoilery and dramatic. If we're talking about the new Mighty Ducks show, it's no a big deal.

Like why not? There is a set time, Nash. People know it drops at midnight Hollywood time, and they anticipate watching it right away. I see people tweeting about whether they will stay awake for it.

yea, see, this doesn't sound like an optimal viewing experience to me. Imagine getting to queue it up at 9pm and watch it at home on your big screen tv with sound system like you would watch a movie. Instead we have people trying to squeeze in a mobile viewing so they don't get spoiled.

They can't make it work for everyone since time zones exist, but I don't see the reasoning not to appease American viewers and make it an event similar to primetime television.

ok that's my rant. I'm sure they have a reason and I'd be interested to find out why. just doing it because "midnight west coast time is the earliest time of the day when we can drop it for a Friday release" doesn't seem like a good reason. that makes sense for when Peacock should add The Office because contractually it's the earliest they can add it so they might as well do it then, but not weekly episodes of WandaVision.

Yeah I would rather watch it at home on my tv. However I am the only one in the house that wants to watch it so I just watch it at work. When it came to Mando I just did my best to avoid spoilers and watched it at home usually Saturday morning.

I get it but I don't think there is an optimal time at the end of the day for dropping it. Can't make everyone happy. Not sure if there is a good solution when doing this format of weekly drops.

I think television already worked out the optimal time to show things. They drop it at midnight so they can laugh about their engagement metrics. They're delighted that people are straining themselves, one way or another, to watch their show.

I have the same problem. My wife does not share my tastes in terms of films and TV shows. Previously, they tried to negotiate, but in this situation, watching the series does not make much sense, because there is no way to watch several episodes in a row or watch it every day. But I solved the problem by buying a large monitor for my computer. I watch serials from my computer, and my wife watches her films on TV. There was no other way.

Meh, timing that they drop for things like this doesn’t bother me.

What is bothering me is how should I watch this finale. Should I get up early and watch the episode solo...... or should I wait til Saturday or Sunday, stay off of social, and rewatch the whole series, finale included, and all? I’m spending way too much time thinking about this.

Ah man, gutted this is coming to an end. We've absolutely loved this. I think Olsen is a really good actor. I love watching her.

Will be watching the finale tomorrow evening.

Right, there's a set time like there's a set time when a new video game or movie drops at Wal-Mart......I'm sure as time goes on, we're going to see Disney+, Netflix, etc. go "Tune in every Friday @ 8pm for the new episode of Loki!"

I mean, the whole point is that you can watch it whenever you want. If YOU want to set a time to watch it, then do it. Disney doesn't need to cater to the time YOU feel it should air lol.

Not everyone is anticipating to watch this show immediately. That's kind of the point of Disney+ and other streaming sites--you can watch it whenever you want. Those people staying up until 2am, that's on them. Just like the people over in Europe who choose to stay up until 3am to watch a ppv on the Network.

Elizabeth Olsen really has done a great job in this series.

They have a lot to wrap-up in the finale. Thinking its going to be pretty out there.

This is my regular Friday evening watch. I hope Disney+ release the other MCU shows weekly. I love a binge watch over a few days with certain types of shows, but having something to look forward to every week and being able to discuss and read around it in between is great.

The showrunner thinks some people will be disappointed by the finale because their theories don’t come true. I’m trying to go in with an open mind. I think the show has been fantastic for fleshing out the characters of Wanda and Vision, setting up a new hero in Monica and giving people like Woo and Darcy moments to shine. Potential cameos or references to other big characters and events are cool, but not necessary to round this off in a satisfying way.

Because one line of perfectly crafted, iconic dialogue obviously isn't enough.

How the hell does Falcon follow that?

I think Falcon/Winter Soldier will be good, it just will feel odd because it is more of what we expect from the MCU.

    Great show

Overall just loved this show and the twists and turns the format. I think it was a good way to tell this story.

Looking forward to Falcon and the Winter Soldier next.

It was supposed to be right after WandaVision before the pandemic ruined everything. That would have been so dope

I wish I could go back and watch it all in one go without knowing what happens... It was a great watch.

I think Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be entirely different and good in its own way.

Hell of a good finale. A shitload of the fan theories fell flat on their face but that's just wishful thinking and confirmation bias leading people to have lofty expectations that were never promised (or people misinterpreting what cast members said or how they said it). Just take it for what it is and it's super damn good.

Sucks that Dr. Strange 2 is so far off. Looking forward to Falcon/WS, etc., but would really like to stay with these characters longer.

Falcon and Winter Soldier was supposed to be released first if I'm not mistaken. That show is going to be incredible. WandaVision was great. Definitely a different vibe and I think that we're going to see that throughout these shows. Every one will have a different approach, a different feel. Falcon/WS is supposedly going to be very action heavy so I don't think we're going to see a Full House themed episode lol.

After watching WandaVision I have no real clue where we are going in the universe but it's going to be awesome.

I imagine that most of these shows will take place around the same time frame. WandaVision is a few weeks after Endgame. Far From Home was a few months after. I would think that the shows themselves will fall in this period. Far From Home had the line about Dr Strange being busy at the moment, so maybe Dr Strange 2 will also take place simultaneously with Far From Home.

Most will. Falcon takes place after End Game but Loki takes place during a bunch of different periods if I remember the premise correctly. He's jumping all over the place so that should be fun.

And what the fuck is going on with Black Widow the movie??? I'm hearing May 7th but holy fuck. It's going to be awesome but I'm sick of waiting.

somewhat related to the Falcon/Bucky series but I wonder what old man cap is going to do now after endgame. so he returned to our universe and he's old as hell but he's super-human so he'll probably still live for like 10-20 more years. what's his retirement look like? he going to become clint eastwood in gran torino? I guess he could be on the advisory board of whatever next avengers/shield thing gets created to impart his wisdom.

I would guess he does still have his powers. Just my opinion.

I mean, maybe a cameo here or there, but I’m guessing Chris Evans is done with the character for the most part.

I watched the WV finale a second time. Some general thoughts and rants:

The season was terrific overall, so any complaints I have are just picking nits. It wasn't perfect but it absolutely lived up to the hype of the first Marvel Studios show.

He says about his life “it was beautiful” in the past tense. My theory is that his Peggy passed away before he returned.

I don’t think we’ll see him again mind you but I’m asking just as a fictional theorizing. We might learn something about him in FalBuck but I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t reveal much about his old self.

They can spin it how they want obviously. I mean, some people came back from the dead, some didn't in End Game. I have no degree in time travel but I have seen all 3 Back to the Future's, the first Butterfly Effect, and Donnie Darko.....None of it makes sense lol.

If he does still have his powers that would be cool to see old man Rogers handling shit. I just figured he didn't have them because I thought he was like Superman and barely aged, but when we see him in End Game he looks about 200.

I haven't watched End Game in a bit but it seemed like Cap was pretty frail.

I would love kicking ass, old man Cap though. Team him and fat Thor up for a flick some how.

Well, he was born around 1920, and lived (although mostly in suspended animation) until 2023 (MCU time) (physically only really about in his mid 30's)...
    Then went back to, lets say, the mid-late 1940's again, to live with Peggy, and then lived his life... again, from the 1940s until the 2020s, another 80 years, give or take, without the benefit of further suspended animation that we're aware of.... so for 120ish, he still looked pretty good {shrug}

Behind The Scenes Wandavision special is out to fill the hole between when Falcon and Winter Soldier starts.

Search for "marvel studios" because "assembled" didn't pull it up for me.

I think keeping one thread for all the MCU TV series makes sense. Just need a mod to edit the title as the new shows start up.

my intention is to do it in here and I'll change the thread title when each new show comes out. this would be the Marvel TV catch-all thread.

but if people want one thread per show, that's okay too. idk if spoilers will become and issue with people who, for example, are watching WandaVision late and want to post on it or read the thread without being spoiled on other shows like Falcon.

but yea my suggestion would be keep them all together since they all are in the same universe.

Super slow start. Bad special effects. Some bad acting.

GSP was a better actor then some of the people they have for this show.

But I have Disney+ and nothing to watch on fridays so hopefully it gets better.

that's concerning. Most of the initial reviews I've read were pretty positive.

Agree with all of that. Well outside of the nothing to watch on Friday's because I'm so behind on many other shows I've been meaning to watch.

The guy playing Torres in particular really took me out of the show with any scene he was in. Kind of sucks that I don't think he's going anywhere, he hasn't been in much according to imdb so maybe he'll find his footing. This show is also only 6 episodes.

    The
both made me dizzy with the shaky cam and made me laugh at the special effects used for it. Marvel should have either ponied up for better effects or changed that scene it so they wouldn't need so much, in my opinion.

No complaints from me. I thought it was fine and a good effort in getting the series started.

Granted I didn't watch WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier easily played out like a movie that is being given ample room to breathe and conveniently being broken up into chunks. Slow burn seems to be the mindset here and I can't really fault that approach as long as the payoff delivers.

Part of the key that helped the MCU work was that characters were developed and fleshed out to where you wanted to see the story play out and there was humanity to the heroes. That's clearly the approach they're taking with the titular characters. Sam and Bucky are having to endure a lot of anxiety in the world they're now living in and the roles they're now having to take on. Steve Rogers isn't present but he's still somehow omnipresent through the episode. I feel like that's going to continue throughout the season. I do like the touch that Sam and Bucky (while not at odds with each other) aren't simpatico to start this. That'll make it more impactful when they are.

The special effects were definitely a step down but it wasn't too bothersome to me.

I do feel like they navigated big budget action and emotional/intimate storytelling within the episode but they wanted to tug on heartstrings more in this episode. I like that approach and the execution may have been forced at times but it still hit the mark with me.

Tried to watch it this week but didn’t get to it because I finished Mandalorian. Not sure when I’d be able to now.

Not for at least 2-3 weeks, probably.

Good episode. Wasn’t mind blowing or anything but it was about what I expected in terms of quality. Granted I had consumed a fair amount of wine and devil’s lettuce when I watched it last night but I didn’t notice the bad special effects. I thought that Falcon action sequence was pretty damn cool. The dialogue writing left something to be desired, but it’s an action show so I wasn’t too bothered by it.

I'm halfway through the episode, it is unimaginably boring.

Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are charisma vacuums, I never found them interesting in the films. Think I'll give this show a swerve.

I thought it was a solid start. I like that they’re delving into the impact of the Blip on the world and how Bucky is struggling to have a life now that he’s free of Hydra’s conditioning, I didn’t have a major problem with the effects, but there were moments in the canyon chase that could have been slowed down as it was hard to watch some of the zigging and zagging.

Now this is more my speed. Not taking anything away from WandaVision but in the MCU, I'm more about the Capt America side of things. First episode was great.

The stuff with the shield reminded me of how in the Nolan Batman movies they beat into our heads that Batman is simply a symbol, and that's kind of what they alluded to about Cap's shield. It also reminded me of when Peter Parker gave dude the Iron Man glasses, thinking he wasn't worthy of the "power" Same thing with Falcon. He didn't feel like anyone should be the new Captain America, that Cap was a symbol of justice.

Watched the first two episodes last night and enjoyed them both. I did like the second a bit better than the first but it was still two hours well spent. Interested to see where it goes but I was surprised to see it was only six episodes total.

also the internet is saying that bucky is bi because back in episode 1 he mentioned seeing tiger photos in his online dating, which apparently is something that happens on men's profiles. so keep an eye out for that! imagine if this season ends with falcon and winter soldier in bed together, haha

I thought it was a joke about that stupid documentary that came out last year or the year before about the tiger guy. But I’ve also never used a dating app so what do I know?

Second ep was good. The fight scene on top of the semi trucks was super dope. Some of the therapy stuff was pretty funny. Really liking Walker's character so far.

I barely remember Zemo from Civil War so I'm looking forward to seeing more of him here and hopefully it doesn't matter than I've more or less forgotten him.
