Iverson. He actually won significant games in the playoffs and made everyone around him better.

And that is while Bonds was juicing and Babe was eating hot dogs and drinking beers…
    Career WAR

    Bonds 162.8
    Ruth 162.1

And everyone was juicing during Bonds time. Not just him.

Lots of players juiced in Bonds' time, but not everyone. The consensus seems to be around 30%, which is still pretty significant.

Where would Cobbs and DiMaggio rank?

Ty Cobb was miles ahead of everyone in his era, but DiMaggio was once in a lifetime talent, who could nearly match Cobb did at the plate - since I value hitting for power above hitting for average. Joe was a superior fielder with a better arm, but of course, Joe didn't play in the dead ball era.

Joe lost 3 seasons to WW2 as well.

I'd take DiMaggio because of his overall value. Cobb was merely an average fielder. And Joe brought fans to the ballparks like very few before or since.

Ricky Henderson deserve some GOAT love as well. The Wilt Chamberlain of getting on base and stealing bases.

Now count the five years that Ruth was a pitcher…

    SUMMARY

    Career WAR

    182.5

If Bonds has two more MVP seasons, then he would come close to Ruth.

I watched one of those old late 80s As games on ESPN classic with my kid's little friend who loves baseball. He was losing his mind watching Ricky just steal and steal. Kid had no idea what it looked like to see baseball played that way.
