Eugene Levy ruled this and any other movie he's in.

The movie had a phenomenal cast. Jason Biggs is not a very good actor, but he was perfect in this. Sean William Scott owes his career to the Stifler character. This revitalized Eugene Levy's career. I'm not usually a fan of Chris Klein, but he was really good, same with the Rookie of the Year guy, just a good, likable friend group.

I first saw this at a friends house in 10th grade on 99 new year's eve, so I was just about the same age as these guys. Probably my favorite high school movie of all time, gives me a lot of nostalgic feelings.

I expected this to be higher. A remarkable movie.

Truly one of the most important movies ever considering it was the first Pixar movie and first computer-animated movie.

But also one of the only movies ever where the sequel is better than the original.

The rare sequel that arguably improves on its predecessor, Toy Story 2 uses inventive storytelling, gorgeous animation, and a talented cast to deliver another rich moviegoing experience for all ages.
I am not the only one (not that Rotten Tomatoes means anything). I wouldn't say there is a huge difference but yes, I prefer TS2 to TS1.

Fair. I thought the 2nd one was the weakest of the first 3 but I haven’t watched it in a while.

Anyway Toy Story was awesome. Aside from the whole CGI thing which was monumental, it was such a good story and great voice casting. The leads were spot on. The supporting characters were perfect and hilarious (rex, ham, potato head etc). I loved this movie and still do.

Toy Story and Finding Nemo are my 2 favorite Pixar flicks.

I think you could easily make the case 3 is the best of them all too. The entire series is great.

You might not like every Toy Story movie but I think everyone truly likes at least one of them. Is it a top 20 comedy of the 90's? I can buy that. I wouldn't have thought of it because to me it's such a huge "childrens/family" movie as opposed to a "comedy" but all the boxes are checked x5.

I wonder what a live-action movie with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen would be like.....

I'm confused on when you include the ranked highest by. I thought it was when someone had it top 5 but I had South Park 4th.

Oh see I submitted 2 lists several weeks apart and my 2nd list (that I didn't have him use) had this movie at #2. I hate lists like this because I have soooo many that I would rank that between 2 lists I think I had 30+ movies haha. Not having South Park on my original list, fucking pathetic on my part. EASILY one of the funniest movies of all time fuck the 90's.

So I had this first on my list but it was a tough call because I didn't have a strong ranking when it came to my top 5 or so. But this movie was so perfect. Hysterically funny, epic plot and possibly the best musical movie soundtrack ever produced (silly as that may seem). I remember my friends and I passing the soundtrack around in middle school on CD. I was the right age for it I suppose but I think the comedy is still so sharp and funny, with one funny bit after another. It holds up. Trey and Matt are comedic geniuses, and while many South Park episodes are a perfect 21 minutes of television, this is their magnum opus. It delivered on the foundation they established with the show and brought it to a whole new level of brilliance.

Back in the 80's and 90's my was the regional manager for Spencer's Gifts. She hated South Park, she hated probably 80% of that store lol It was like Aunt May working at a porn shop. I didn't get into it until the first VHS tapes came out and that was all I had to watch in the break room when I started working there at 16. It's crazy how long this show has been on.

But damn I didn't know how fucking wild this movie was going to be. Shut your fuckin face uncle fuckaaaaa

I begged and pleaded but could not talk either of my parents into taking me to see this. My father never went to movies so didn't expect much there but my mother went to see everything. Wouldn't budge on South Park though. Take me to see Fight Club but South Park was a no way.

Saw it at a friend's house for first time and just about spit Orange soda everywhere when Stan finally found the clitorous. Maybe I'm lucky my mom spared us that awkward moment.

Such a great flick though! Every song is on point. Up There and I Can Change are pretty underrated movie songs in my opinion.

Been a while since I've seen these but it really is a great film. As a supervisor at my old job I quite frequently went up to people in my group and said "I'm gonna need you to come in on Saturday"

Every single time I was asked to come in on a Saturday it was always when I legit had something important going on. So there were a couple pissed off bosses in the past but oh well, they got over it lol. I think one time was like my son's 2nd birthday and my boss was like "Can you move it later" and I just responded with "You could have asked me sooner than Friday at 4pm"

You could say this about every film on the list from here out, but Office Space is super quotable. Definitely a classic comedy with tons of funny quirky characters. As an office drone myself it hits home but you don't have to work in an office to appreciate it. I had it 15th.

What would ya say, you DO here?

Milton is the god. I remember as a young kid seeing those old SNL sketches and then when I saw this I knew straight up who this guy was. Hilarious.

*Reading up on it real quick apparently this is what Office Space is based on, these old sketches Mike Judge did for SNL.

Easily a top 10 90's comedy. Jim Carrey was a killer on In Living Color (one of the best shows ever) and he delivered here with Ace Ventura. This is one of those movies where you watch it when you're older and go "Holy shit, I didn't get any of this when I was 12" lol.

I thought part 2 was pretty fucking good too. These 2 movies have so many quotable lines. I had this one friend who wound up being a Navy SEAL after 9/11 that would also impersonate Jim Carrey and Chris Farley, he was spot on but after awhile it was fucking annoying lol.

The second one was great. I actually had more of a fondness for the 2nd one as a kid because I saw it in the theater. It was sillier but arguably with more laughs, especially for a 10 or 11 year old.

I was able to see both in the theater. The spot by my house was very strict about PG-13, like they would literally ask you for some sort of ID lol. But the first movie I was 12 and we had a HS buddy who worked there so he would let us in to movies like Ace Ventura.

I could definitely accept people liking 2 more than 1. They're both great which is hard to pull off in comedy.

Love this part. Yea the second one is more memorable to me personally. So many memorable bits. Like the slinky, or when the guy throws him the spears and they keep going in his legs lol, or shikaka

Both Office Space and Ace Ventura were on my list. I did debate putting the 2nd one on it. Jim Carrey coming out of the Rhinos ass is iconic.

The first one starts with a bang as the delivery guy destroying the package.

    GOOD DEFENSE!

I loved both of these movies. Still as great today as they were then.

I haven't seen this too many times but it's definitely iconic. Not really something I latched on to like everyone else but I can appreciate where it belongs in 90's comedy. Or comedy movies in general it's that big.

"There's Something About Mary" might be the single best in-theatre movie experience I have ever had. Saw it either opening night or during a "sneak preview". Either way, it was jam packed and it killed. I have never had a group of people laugh that much or that loud.

I still say "We Got a Bleeder!" to this day…

Black Sheep for me. I remember going to see it, there were only 2 seats left right next to each other, it had been out for like a week and was still selling out places. I swear to God everyone laughed from start to finish, that shit is hilarious.

Something About Mary was a classic for sure and became a big part of pop culture. It didn't make my top 20 but it was funny and memorable. Just the absurdity of how all these guys tries to scheme their ways into dating her, lol.

Something About Mary and Austin Powers were both on my list and are great movies. So many quotable lines/memorable scenes for both of them. I think that's what makes a top comedy movie for me. The zipper scene in Something About Mary gave me nightmares for a while.

There are just too many good 90's comedies to do a top 20 lol.

I loved all 3 of these movies but I actually liked the sequels more.

The Matrix version 90s comedies. The first one is almost perfect. The first sequel is very good too. But then the sequels after that just get so bad it ruins the good memories of the beginning.

Christopher McDonald is such a great slime heel and he eats pieces of shit for breakfast.

The stalker friend is also great with Shooter.

Wanna go to Red Lobster and catch some grub? My treat! Such a missed line in a movie full of great lines.

Back to Austin Powers, I bet if I re-watched them now I would agree that the first one was the better comedy, but I really loved The Spy Who Shagged Me. It was the more memorable one to me back then, similar to Ace Ventura 2. Spy Who Shagged Me surprisingly got zero votes in this. That's a serious underrating for a movie that brought us Mini-Me and Fat Bastard, but I'm glad the first one scored highly. Goldmember was of course the lame duck, it pretty much stunk. And Mike Myers was pretty much done as a funny filmmaker at that point, which is too bad.

I forgot about Austin Powers and Spy when I made my list but did put Wayne's World on mine. I did quite enjoy Spy and not getting one vote doesn't seem fair to that flick.

Goldmember was shit. I have a friend that watched it over and over, thought it was great. I will say I was disappointed they was no more because they set up Scott Evil as the top bad guy at the end of 3 and was curious to see where that went.

I tend to give credit for coming up with an original idea which is why I rated the originals over the sequels. (Looking back, I don't know why I didn't do the same with Toy Story 1 and 2 though)

But in terms of rewatching them, both sequels probably are better. It helps that you can skip the "set-up" and just go straight for jokes right away.

Farley is top notch. Tommy Boy is hilarious. So is Beverly Hills Ninja, Coneheads, Black Sheep, Wayne's World 2 and I even love Almost Heros. I wonder what Farley would be doing now if he lived. Kevin James certainly would have been out of Adam Sandler movie jobs that's for sure. It irritates me seeing him in Grown Ups knowing deep down it'd probably be Farley's job if he was alive.

Waynes World and Austin Powers are classics, Mike Myers is a legend. I need to see some of the comedies on this list...

Happy Gilmore is a great movie, another one that I didn't have listed but again...trying to narrow down 20 90's comedies is impossible.

Tommy Boy. So on my first list it was #1 and on my second it was #9. Creepy thing is, on my second list I subconciously switched Tommy Boy with Black Sheep, so Black Sheep was #9 on my first list, but #1 on my second lol. WILD. Tommy Boy, incredible movie. I love it. It had a similar effect that Ace Ventura and Billy Madison where everyone suddenly wanted to recite every god damn line in their respective goofy ass voices lol.

Wayne's World. This movie kicked so much ass. I didn't see too much SNL when they were doing this bit and I actually saw the 2nd one in the theater with my buddy Brian. Great stuff, worthy of a top 5 spot IMHO.

I started watching SNL and reruns after Wayne's World. Also was my introduction to Queen. I must have played that beginning scene alone 100 times. Drove my parents nuts.

    A perfect movie.

The cast, the script, the soundtrack. I wouldn't change a single thing. And that is even with the ending being kind of "Oh, I guess that is it…"

I had it #7. It's a great movie but I didn't see it until maybe 10 years ago or so, it doesn't hold the nostalgia for me that movies I rated higher like Men in Black, South Park and some others that haven't been listed yet do for me. I've gotten lots of milage posting this in arguments though.

Any fans of "The Rewatchables"? The Ringer podcast where they talk about old movies? "The Big Lebowski" might be my favorite episode of that series. They bring up some really fun points.

I'm not shocked this is so high because apparently everyone but me thought it was the fucking shit. I've watched it once so maybe that was my issue. I just remember watching it with an old friend, Andrea, and she was blown away that I didn't laugh once. I didn't even smile and I think a huge part of that is I went in expecting this to be fucking hilarious and it wasn't-for me.

But it definitely deserves a top spot.

Mike Meyers fought hard to get that song and that scene in the movie and thank God he did. I think up until that movie the only songs by Queen I knew were We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. I think I was like 8 anyway so there's that but I bet it made people a fan of Queen if they weren't already or hadn't heard of them before.

I can actually understand people not liking it even as much as I like it. The Cohens have a very unique tone and setting and characters and not everyone likes stuff like that. I know more than one person who doesn't like it. But it seems to be either a 10 or a 1 for most people. I don't hear many "That was OK but nothing special" takes about it.

I went and looked at the movies they've done and I definitely agree about the tone of their movies. I've seen a handful of their movies, No Country for Old Men was the fucking shit. Yeah, you either love it or hate it, not much room for in between vibes lol.

I remember hearing that they wanted something different, maybe a Guns N Roses song. I remember thinking that song is good and all but thank God Myers fought for Queen. Mike knew what was up!

I've never seen Wayne's World. Sounds like I'm missing out, a tad.

I could totally see Home Alone beating out The Big Lebowski. From a quality of movie stance, TBL takes the cake. From a nostalgic childhood comedy classic, Home Alone is nearly untouchable. I first saw this movie when I was 5 years old and have adored the entire series since.

This was in my top 10. As a kid it was genius, as an adult you watch it and still appreciate it. It's a great movie to watch with the kids, all my kids love this one and the 2nd one.

#3? That's crazy but I had it as #7. But it's a great movie in general. The cast is top notch, Culkin obviously rules and the Wet Bandits are classic. The traps are fucking wicked though, and I wonder how many kids across the globe have fucked up people in their family or circle of friends attempting these lol.

I love Home Alone but I consider it overrated here. I had it in the teens. Look I mean it's a 10/10 perfect movie, a complete classic, so I can't knock it. I guess in my mind, I consider it the greatest Christmas move ever, but not one of the top 3 comedies from the 90s. If this were the best holiday movies thread I'd be singing its praises. So that's not a knock on it, it's just how I place it within the genre we're discussing.

I think I know at least 1 of the 2. I'm betting my #2 didn't make it, which is a damn shame. I was also born in 90 though, so nostalgia and seeing a movie when I was younger and watching it over and over again holds more weight for me personally than seeing a movie later in life like The Big Lebowski that I wouldn't have understood when it originally came out. What's weird is I had no idea Home Alone came out in 90 because I probably didn't see it or I guess the 2nd one until maybe 96. I didn't hate the 3rd one and it's weird that it has a young Scarjo in it but it was strange not to have Macaulay in it.

Home Alone is a solid choice and it benefits from being rewatchable, and enjoyed by all ages. When my wife and I were dating, we took her grandmother along with us to see it, and she laughed harder than anyone.

Home Alone is the first movie I remember seeing in theaters. I know I saw batteries not included in the theaters, but I don't remember that experience. The old man in the film absolutely terrified me.

@Donald My mom informed me that the first movie I ever saw was Gremlins when I was 2 but I don't remember that obviously. I do remember seeing Batteries Not Included though which came out shortly after that I believe!

I can get down with that mentality but I think that some movies like Home Alone or even Christmas Vacation can be more than just a "Christmas Comedy" I think Christmas Vacation is one of the funniest movies out there despite it being based during Christmas time. Kind of like if you made "all time horror movies" and Halloween was #1. Is it the best Halloween horror movie or is it the best horror movie period?
