RFF 2020/21 - a show of hands

PL fixtures are out. Fixtures are being released tomorrow for L1/2. National League starting on 3 October. SPL already started.

Dependent on the amount of available fixtures we really should get RFF going again, and I'm happy to give a go running it and take a year off this time. Could be a real game of chess in the draft, given the different leagues' start times. I also look forward to doing hilarious weekly reports and interviews with managers.

Can I please get a show of hands who'd be interested in taking part this year? I think we could make it work with 10.

I'll then ask about preferences on how we can shake up the format a bit (cash prize? squad size? new rules? etc) - but first off it's just to see who's keen or not.

It's picking five players each week from your squad of eight, choosing who you think will most likely score. Each player eg Harry Kane (Spurs) can only be owned by one person, it's not like FPL where everyone gets 8 of the same players come the third month. It's only based on goals, we all play each other and it's a league format. We do a draft of players pre-season and it includes all SPL - S2 and PL down to National League. You can make transfers from a squad of eight basically whenever you wish.

It's actually incredibly easy and requires choosing a starting five once per week, and any additional transfers you wish to make along the season.

By looking over the fixtures for all leagues (National League not yet set), I can see 27 gameweeks where all/most leagues will play.

17 Oct, 24 Oct, 31 Oct, 7 Nov, 21 Nov, 5 Dec, 12 Dec, 19 Dec, 26 Dec, 28 Dec, 2 Jan, 9 Jan, 16 Jan, 23 Jan, 6 Feb, 13 Feb, 20 Feb, 27 Feb, 6 Mar, 13 Mar, 20 Mar, 3 Apr, 10 Apr, 17 Apr, 20 Apr, 24 Apr, 1 May. These are subject to further scrutiny.

With the Scottish Leagues and National League starting so late it will hamper any choices you make from these leagues, but this is where the most inspirational draft tactics will be rewarded.

If we get one more person to make it 12 managers, then I'll make 33 fixtures starting from September 12th, so everybody will play each other 3 times. I'll likely add in the first months of weekends in September (12, 19, 26 and 3 Oct) and then two more later in the season.

I will look to start the draft towards the end of the week.

Given the fixtures situation, I think we are going to have to go for 8 man squads in a league of 12 managers. That's 96 players across a possible 9 leagues (compared to 98 last year), which should keep transfers and trades flowing, and also give enough wiggle room for the fixtures split across a few leagues.

Any big opposition to this let me know.

I am also tempted to do a Draft Order by random selection, given last year was null and void.

Unfortunately I spoke with the higher ups in charge now who haven't been brought into question for fixing scores, and they decided that whoever scored the most goals would be declared the champions. Not sure who that is, just passing the message on.

No European leagues. English levels Premier League -> National League, Scottish levels SPL - Scottish League 2.
