    Hardest games you’ve ever played?

Inspired somewhat from Stan’s VG challenges. I’m an RPG fan and normally. Mostly an RPG fan myself but the majority I’ve found require time rather than be out-and-out frustrated throwing your controller at the wall stuck in the same place. Super Star Swars for the PS4 after I brought it up and re-remembered what a bitch that can be. Playing Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins at my friend’s house recently, that sticks out in my mind most for being an ultra bitch in difficulty in recent memory at least.

Use this thread to discuss what the hardest game (s) you’ve ever played.

    Batman
    Die Hard

    SNES
    Cool World
    Zombies Ate My Neighbors

    Yup.

Tubular Special level in Super Mario World gave me a hissy fit when I was younger on more than one occasion.

Ninja Turtles on NES. It was an awesome game, but I just couldn't master it.

I'll have to dig it out this winter and give it another shot. I truly both love and hate that game at the same time.

Manic Miner. Eugene's lair was bad enough, but I never got past the Kong beast.
Super Hang-on. Don't think I ever completed a stage, even on easy.
Ducktales remastered. Perfect learning curve until the last section. Make a mistake and you're fucked.

Special mention to GTA San Andreas and that damn Zero mission:

Bubsy the Bobcat for the Mega Drive. Absolutely ridiculous game with no margin for error.

I think the NES/SNES Mario games are all really challenging, although admittedly I haven't attempted a couple of them since I was a kid. Maybe they weren't that bad after all. I don't think I've ever completed SMB3. Super Mario World is a piece of cake by comparison.

I bought Frostpunk at the start of the year, which if you don't know is a sort of post apocalyptic Sim City (although it also resembles Black and White in a few ways) where you have to build a small community in a frozen wasteland around a generator and not lose the confidence of the people living there (or kill them all). It is hard as rocks and after a few attempts I sort of quietly relegated it to the right hand side of my PS4 title screen.

In a slightly different way, I gave up on Football Manager games years ago because they just got too convoluted for me; there was tons of stuff I seemingly needed to spend hours doing (particularly training) that I just had no interest in whatsoever. CM01/02 forever.

I breezed through Uncharted 1 and 2 pretty easily but 3 caused me a lot of issues. I can't remember now if I even completed it in the end, not sure I did.

Oh, also, ALL THE POINT AND CLICK GAMES. I refuse to believe that anybody has ever played through those games and completed them with absolutely no help from a walkthrough or hint guide.

'Oh yeah, it's so obvious now, combine the banana with the rope and then use that on Smelly Shopkeeper so that he'll open a window which allows you to pick up the wooden paddle which you can use as a makeshift key on the broken lock on that door two towns away'. Fucking bullshit sometimes, those games.

The Etrian Odyssey series is hard as nails.

Not a bad hard though, it rewards you for being good at the game and wipes you out for being stupid.

When I was a wee pup the last boss on ffix nearly made me go mad beat it after like ten tries, so many status ailments, cunt.

One might argue Kuja should have been the last boss anyway

I've was having a bit of trouble with Arkham Asylum just now, as I decided to play it on hard mode the Bane boss on hard mode is a trial I imagine it's only get harder as I go through the game. It doesn't help that when you rip one of the things that Bane uses, people start falling down to beat the crap out of you, and you have to do while dodging rampaging charges and throwing stuff at you. I almost came close to beating it, but then I either get hit by thugs or a rock thrown at me one or the other The thing that annoys me are Riddler trophies. Those were always a pain...

My memory is that Poison Ivy was the hardest boss in the game. So good luck.

BattleToads Double Dragon was a nightmare of a game. It's really fun up until the third level.

I played Battle Toads on the Rare Collection on X-Box One. I save scummed my way through a lot of it, but it still took a bunch of trial and error. And I accidentally managed to find the warp to beat the Turbo Tunnel level early, but I was trying to beat it legit.

I save scummed my way through both runs of The SNES version of "Ghouls and Ghosts". Still hard.

I got several levels deep into the Playstation 2 game "Maximo - Ghosts To Glory" a 3D, modern interpretation of an old-school "Ghosts And Goblins" game. That was a fairly tough game for its time.

My most "embarrassing" hard game moment had to beat, starting "Resident Evil 7" on the highest difficulty and getting Ethan's ass kicked by Mia, his emaciated, half-zombified wife, about 12 times before I finally got passed her. As soon as I got to an item box, I'd have a super pistol and an infinite item coin that would make the whole replay cake. But I kept getting cut down by the rabid bitch with a chainsaw. Heh.
