Video game music challenge day 28 - Music that makes you nostalgic

I posted about this series before but it bears repeating: Starting with On Tour, SSX stopped being fun. Even the reboot became a chore, despite the 'team SSX vs Griff' overarching storyline.

Oh, for the days when it didn't take itself too seriously...

Could be one of many here, any of the Sensible Soccer themes, the Microprose Soccer music, Jet Set WIlly etc/

But I will go for a very underrated game from the C64 called CJ's Elephant Antics. The game itself was a pretty good platformer but the music was exceptional for the era. Reminds me of being about 8-9 years old playing the two player co-op with my mate who lived up the road.

It's a tossup between Crash 2 and Spyro the Dragon, because two of my fondest gaming memories are from those games, though Crash 2 was the earliest one so I guess I'll go with that:

As to why this track, I'm not sure. It's not even my favorite track in the game, but it's the one that seems to make me feel the most nostalgic for some reason.

    Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder.

Slayer's Here Comes the Pain was announced but wasn't in the game.

    Donner Ski Ranch.

Unfortunately I can't find a good video with the music.

Now this and SD: Here Comes the Pain were PS2 main stays in my life at the time.

In college but I would skip. I have a good group of friends and we'd meet up and all people would need to say is Palmer and shit got competitive. Bongs and Palmer. At night I'd sneak them in my room (still living with parents at the time, Palmer is probably a off hand reason I moved out sooner than was planned) and Palmer was the draw.

First level was our favorite. After we beat the game, cheats like No gravity and perfect balance came into play. Everyone was pretty even at first but eventually I was the uncrowned king of Palmer. You'd get 3 runs down the slope and I'd do 1 big continuous trick each run.

When I dig out my PS2 this game gets played.

Was debating avoiding licensed songs, but this just fit too much and the snowboarding games above influenced me

It just gets me right in the feelers when I hear any of those songs from Palmer. I love that game, that period in my life and hearing that stuff instantly makes me feel great.

You lose, you'd pack the bud up. We had to stop doing that after awhile because I was running through everybodies bags way too fast. I'd love coming from behind on the last run down the slope. Behind on points, timer runs out but you're still doing a trick so they let you continue. Plenty of wins for everybody that way. Just great friendship time all around.

Such a classic. Midway was really at the top of their game in the early to mid 90's.

NBA Jam was dam awesome! I have been thinking of getting that cabinet next to go with my TMNT one. Wife says I need to downsize first though. For now I still have it on SNES. Loved the Bulls but Grandma-ma and Muggsy Bogues were my go to tandem.

I know today's category is nostalgia but this whole month has been full to the brim of nostalgia for me.

Great idea to bring this here Stan. I've enjoyed it quite a bit. It'll be sad when it's done.

    Seconded. Been fun Mr Accrington.

In a shocking twist of events, my final boss choice tomorrow is not Final Fantasy related. Have an old school out there for credits too.

Oh I have a final boss pick that I don't think anyone can guess. The first boss I ever beat. Then as a bonus Jarrod tidbit I'll give you the boss I never beat. That sumbitch literally would not go down to me or anyone around me who took a crack at him. Frustrating to even think about it!

Got loads of these types of encounter but two recent ones not going to be in my choice tomorrow I will share now. Got a lucky hit on Sephiroth in the remake but even better recently playing Earthbound was getting Giygas with 1 HP remaining hitting the pray button.

Love that rolling HP meter. I wish more games used it. Really gave you a sense of urgency. Taught you the menu screen layout real quick! I was at a point when I was younger where I could do battles in EB with my eyes closed.

I really don't know why more games didn't use it. Cool no one did though because it makes EB that much more unique.

If the bonus is Jinpachi from Tekken 5 I am right there with you. That bugger was cheap as hell.

Nope. Both my picks very well might illicit groans from the peanut gallery but are what sprang to mind when I read the list. I didn't really need to save these either. They weren't likely to pop up on anyone's picks.

One of my favorite N64 games, very underrated. But it always reminds me of my childhood. Plus, most of my nostalgic pieces from a bit younger have already been used up
