There have been games that start on night 0. And someone won on night zero.
It’s a massive game. 25 people being thrown straight into night phase could be seen as unfair to newer people...There have been games that start on night 0. And someone won on night zero.
On the other hand, test of their willpower so let’s do it!
I've heavily considered having a private night one where roles aren't revealed for future games, but it feels unfair if I don't allow a kill there as well. But then someone dies before they even get to play the game.
So just lynching someone on Day 1 is actually much more generous as far as letting people play goes.
But isn’t lynching someone Day One with no info before they can play the same thing?
Going straight into Night basically saves us 2 days pissing about is the way I look at it.

But if you skip straight to night, there is absolutely no play for you other than maybe picking a night action once you're killed. The person lynched on Day 1 at least gets to participate in an active day cycle with participation.
A person killed on Night Zero is gone before the word "go."
Skip day one AND night one. Start the game on day 2. That way if someone is lynched on the first day they’ll have gotten to play a full day and night
I mean, at that rate your basically playing a Night Zero before Day 1.

Depends on what the limited roles are. The biggest problem is the way we play mafia here will make it that much more townsided if we have early night actions without a night kill. Which is why my idea would involve a n0 where the actions aren't revealed. But even then, I worry it would put scum on the backfoot from town having even just a cop check without a kill.
So if I did end up implementing something like that, I'd probably make a d1 lynch mandatory. But having the private actions in general feels like the best way to go if we have a N0 without a nightkill.
I don't think there's any problem with the rules really, I know I ain't played long but I guess the game was designed to whittle it down and seek those scum out!
Ultimately, it really doesn't matter, and this is just an ongoing debate that has been going on since the beginning of us playing mafia here. I used to be a "No Lynch D1" guy early on, but then I started realizing how much more interesting things are when you lynch D1, and also started playing the game on other sites where it's standard to lynch someone D1, and choosing to No Lynch is a lynchable offense itself.
I do think that the benefits of a D1 lynch outweigh the negatives, but we also have a unique community where the night actions are revealed publicly, so there's a stronger argument for choosing to No Lynch on D1.
So in that sense, my argument for changing up how we handle D1 mostly comes from D1 ending up pretty useless by the way most play.
And again...WE WOULD HAVE LYNCHED SEPHIROTH DAY ONE.
Take a chance people.
Yeah, I will say the argument that we could lynch a cop or a doctor on D1 is balanced by the fact that we could just as easily lynch a Godfather or 3rd party role that could be hard to catch otherwise.

Wife’s Grandma died last night, she was given days in February but the stubborn bugger hung on till now, she basically raised my Mrs with her other Grandparents as her mother is a complete bitch.

Cheers lads, she’s ok so far still hasn’t really settled in, I’ve just dropped her off at the pub with her mate for a pint so she can have 1/2 an hour to process without the kids.
I have a feeling tonight could be tough as it’ll hit her when she doesn’t have to go over and sit with her overnight.
Worst thing so far was her bloody mother, Gran died at 11:46 last night and Em says by 12:00 her mother was playing the dutiful daughter act while claiming everything she could, an example of how much of a bitch she is; my eldest niece has been helping them care for Marion (niece is 22, lost a baby at 37 weeks in the spring and just found out she’s expecting again, the kids brilliant and never missed a shift with Marion) so the bairn went down last night to say goodbye, she asked my wife’s uncle for a drink and he told her to just grab a coke from the kitchen, when she walked back in my wife’s mother screamed at her for using ‘her glasses’ Em said it was all she could do not to bloody kill her on the spot. My autistic lad really struggles with death and had asked last month if he could have one of his great grandmas China dogs, my mother in law told him he couldn’t as they were going to be hers so she could sell them as a pair.
The funeral is going to be a bloody nightmare, first time I’ll have seen her and my wife’s poisonous youngest sister in months, no idea how I’m going to hold my bloody self back if they start with their shite.

Sorry to hear about all that, Rip. Here's hoping the pain passes soon and everything surrounding the funeral goes smoother than expected. I know how it is dealing with selfish/neurotic family members during these times.
Reminds me of the time when my grandad died (on my mother’s side) and we cleared the house out and stored some keepsakes in our garage. My aunt and uncle (again on my mother‘s side) came to visit and started snooping in the cupboards in the garage when my brother caught them in the act.
“Oh we were just looking for your mother.”
“Well I don’t think you’ll find her in there!”
