Not to be negative, but why would Vince do that?

Good publicity? He could use some right now. This season of Darkside of the Ring doing him no favors, the recent layoffs, the political bribe in Florida, the XFL bankruptcy and stock stuff, low ratings. It never hurts to have good will. He had them paired with Cena for a short time, so he obviously thought highly of him. The man's last act was to have the rescuers save his son first. From what I've read recently, he held an assailant down in some altercation until police arrived. He sounded like an all around good dude, so this won't turn into some Benoit-esque scandal to at least help pay for the funeral or some affairs afterward. Don't be surprised if Cryme Tyme ends up in the HOF sooner or later.

I don't think paying for the funeral of a man who hasn't been with your company in 10 years is going to erase all the negative publicity.

Not erase it, no. But a good gesture nonetheless. And he didn't seem to burn any bridges when he was let go. Hell, look at CM Punk. He sued them/accused them of unsafe working conditions somesuch and he's back (albeit with Fox, but same difference).

Is that something they generally do? Pay for the entire funeral expenses and ensure the future of every child of a former talent that may pass away?

Don't get me wrong, if the WWE did in fact do all that it would be cool but that is so uncommon in any aspect of life whether you're an entertainer or a music teacher.

So did CM Punk die saving his son from drowning and they paid for his funeral expenses as well as a fat check to AJ Lee and their son?

I hope when I die, hopefully soon, that the company I worked for 10 years ago pays for my funeral and gives my wife some money.

The whole funeral is probably a bit much but I could easily see Vince giving something to the family.

WWE has sponsored the drug rehab of a few of their former wrestlers.

Paying for the funeral of someone who left the company in good standing, who died saving his son (and not in some other preventable way), and who's leaving behind a wife and kids, wouldn't be too crazy.

Though to be fair, I think paying for drug rehab could have been partially out of guilt and those guys could have xome back in the future.

Vince/WWE paying for the funeral would be a hell of a gesture but at the same time can see the argument that Shad being gone for so long means there's no obligation for them to do that. Can see them getting something for the family and confident they probably will.

    lol no shit.

I'm still laughing at the idea that Vince should do this to save face lol. Just another example of some fans who owe their fandom to Vince yet still want to find SOMETHING to pick at him about. You watch, he won't pay for the funeral and you'll have a bunch of neckbeards asking for Vince's head.

Trust me, if I die, my last employer isn't doing jack shit and they make way more money than the company I work for now. People act like Shad was some broke ass dude like he was Tony Atlas or some shit. Shad kept busy in Hollywood, video games, etc.
