    Money in the Bank 2020

    Match Card:
    Smackdown Tag Title Match -
The New Day (c) versus Miz and Morrison versus Lucha House Party versus The Forgotten Sons

    Smackdown Women's Title Match -
    Bayley (c) versus Tamina

    Universal Title Match -
Braun Strowman (c) versus Bray Wyatt

    WWE Championship Match -
Drew McIntyre (c) versus Seth Rollins

Women's Money in the Bank Match -
Asuka versus Shayna Baszler versus Nia Jax versus Dana Brooke versus Carmella versus Lacey Evans

Men's Money in the Bank Match -
Aleister Black versus Rey Mysterio versus AJ Styles versus Daniel Bryan versus King Corbin versus Otis

    -------

For the MITB matches this is how I'd look at it:
    Women:
    Tired - Carmella
    Wired - Baszler
    Inspired - Evans

    Men:
    Tired - Corbin
    Wired - Styles
    Inspired - Otis

Despite that silliness, I think Evans and Styles leave with the briefcases.

If Styles is thrown off the roof, then I'll agree.
It would be a fun bit if they try to put Styles in situations where he should die in PPVs from here on out.

I got Nia Jax for the women's. Styles or Black for the men's. I keep going back and forth between the two

Everyone watching should get in on the new season of WWE Predictions contest I run. Nice way to add a little suspense while watching the shows.

Man, Lucha House Party is sort of like this generation's Rockers only with less exposure than Shawn and Marty had. They're a team that I'm sure has a fanbase that wants to see them win the gold but the New Day just won them back. I have to agree with dude from The Revival who recently said that tag-team wrestling is being pushed everywhere BUT the WWE. If the WWE gave the straps to LHP and let them go out there every week and just tear it down, it would work.

People have said "oh Americans don't understand the culture behind the mask..." I 100% disagree. Those people act like masks are exclusive to wrestling. Yes, in Mexico that was basically their Batman, Capt America, Iron Man, and I'm positive people like Stan Lee drew inspiration at some point from luchadores. Rey Mysterio for fuck's sake, incredibly over. We can even stretch it to facepaint, a form of a mask....The narrow minded mentality just bleeds through when I hear Bischoff or Bruce Prichard talk about it.

Put John Cena in a mask and have him join Lucha House Party, even more over than before.

    Damn.

1-1 on my predictions so far. Hardy/Cesaro was a gimme. Called that one right on.

Gambled on The Forgotten Sons of Anarchy winning the tag-team titles and... eh... not so much.

Bayley just dragged the wrestling equivalent of a '95 Saturn to a decent match.

Wrestling Tamina is like wrestling a fridge.

The Reality Bimbo Bitch Bellas obviously got pregnant at the same time on purpose, just for TV.

That must have been an awkward conversation.

    So far, so good.

Predictions -- 4-1 - Got Hardy, Bayley, R-Truth losing, and Strowman retaining right on.

Forgotten Talent are the only ones that let me down so far tonight.

Drew Mac attack shouldn't be smiling in his match-screen graphic.

He's a cool, badass babyface. But he shouldn't look like some smiling goober.

McIntyre has a Hoganesque smile: totally confident, nothing to prove. I hope he stays babyface forever.
Or at least until he's old and irrelevant.

While technically unfair that Asuka started on the second floor, it was completely stupid if her to jump back down to the first.

Vince writing his will or something? Being all secret. AJ and Bryan acting like a couple of kids interrupting grandpa. Hand Sanitizer. Good stuff.

    They fell by the way.

Vince scribbling away like Willy Wonka was a nice peak.

Corbin is gonna get buried by The Undertaker for what he did...

Otis winning was best. Thank God.

Lacey Evans punches were most cinematic...

If they're doing cinematic we need the big stars. Do Hogan vs. Flair with nWo vs. The Horseman, Austin Aries as Double A with fake beer gut. Godfather vs. Kane with past gimmick overload. Have a bit of fun.

Besides the main event going all "Its A Mad, Mad, Mad World", nothing needed to be particularly long.

Rollins/Mac was the only other match that needed some time to really do what it had to, and they got it.

Between Tucker and Otis, I totally see Tucker as the one with the longer shelf life. Tucker looks like the kind of guy who could very easily play a killer heel instead of an energetic babyface.

Maybe I'm way off, but Tucker has a little bit of an Arn Anderson feel to him. Just a big meat and potatoes tough guy who's willing to kick your ass and do whatever it takes to get there.

So all 3 raw competitors have "died" in the last month and a half.

The match was hard to keep track of. Asuka was missing for half of it with a head start. Could never explain how AJ got in front of people after being trapped. Laceys booby traps she "set up" didn't come in to play at all. Hate the person who unhooks it drops it into somebodies hands and the catcher wins.

That being said it was weirdly fun. I prefered the Bray/Cena mania and Taker/AJ matches more.

I'm not on board the otis train but if he uses it for the tag titles I think it's fine and a bit of trivia for future MITB matches.

Liked most of the ppv. Cesaro/Hardy and Drew/Seth were quality.

Liked the MITB as well. Not in on the Otis victory. Kinda has an overextended-Eugene like feel

Damn, that was a really solid and fun PPV overall.

Opening tag title match was a fast paced and action packed affair. I'm really glad to see Lucha House Party finally getting some spotlight as of late, they're top notch. Briefly worried the Forgotten Sons might win but glad New Day (who I picked) did instead.

Truth/MVp turning into Truth/lashley was fine enough. Truth makes everything he does entertaining. Also, I'm a Lashley fan so no complaints, really. Seems we might get an MVP/Lashley alliance and I am here for it.

Bayley is really crushing it lately and shining in her heel role. I don't give a shit about Tamina and think she's pretty awful but this match had me interested thanks to Bayley and Shasa's antics and trash talk and there was some solid stuff in the ring, too.

Strowman/Wyatt was engaging. Wyatt outside of the Feind persona adds an interesting angle tot he match and I liked Strowman getting in on the mental games, too. Knew there'd be a rematch, the pinfall win for Strowman seemed like a coin toss happening as opposed to some other shenanigans making it a no contest. Not expecting Strowman/Fiend to be nearly as interesting.

Bummed we didn't get the hacker reveal.

Seth's new music is a good fit for the new gimmick (which I love). I'm warming a bit on Drew. Match was real good.

Ok, the MITB matches were fun as hell. Like the Boneyard match, the more cinematic approach with background music and shit seemed odd at first but a few minutes in and I feel like I['m watching some wild action movie romp and it worked. Some really fun and silly stuff, cool to get to see the building, they utilized the environment much better than Edge/Orton's LMS match. The finish to the Women's was odd as half the women just straight-up disappeared. I have zero recollection for how Shayna got taken out of things and was surprised as I thought this was going to be her night to bounce back from her Mania loss. Asuka winning was a legit shock and I love it as I love her. Was bummed when Black got pitched out of the men's bout. Not sure him and Rey getting tossed was the "OMG THROWN OFF THE BUILDING!!1" stunt we were expecting but honestly, probably better than some over the top cartoon bullshit they could have done. I am A-OK with Otis winning, I enjoy the guy and am all for his current push. I'd say his cash-in should be a hard fought failure that does him more favors than actually winning the title would. Black can easily earn a title shot through more conventional means.

Good job, WWE. Think I enjoyed that more than Mania, honestly.

Otis demanding a spot and repeating "sets and reps" was funny. The dude is seriously goofy on the stick, like R Truth, it seems more like a shoot than him trying to be funny.
Otis fearlessly getting a sandwich in was purty serious. I like him staring down his detractors.

Shayna got taken out by a roundhouse kick from Asuka, a Woman's Right, and a throw into the wall by Nia.

I can see someone like AJ, or Dolph, going up to Otis, and swapping the Briefcase for a voucher at all you can eat Restaurant.

Its funny how, in the food fight spot, Little Rey Mysterio was the only guy to have any physical interaction with one of the women. And it was Shayna Bayzler choking him out like a punk.

Also, nice to see Dana Brooke was really only booked to be the biggest idiot of the whole crew.

I know he's a heel, but Asuka is too. So why was King Dumbfuck, the King of The Possum Day Parade, so damn adamant about making sure Asuka didn't win? They weren't even competing for the same briefcase.

Yeah that was weird but I took it as Corbin is King and wanted the attention only on him. He wouldn't want Asuka or anyone else being in The King's spotlight as he earns his victory.

I thought the Million Dollar Man was gonna make a cameo when Dana went for the million dollar briefcase. Steph as a reality check was kinda strange.

I think Corbin was the ditz like Dana not knowing the rules of the match.

Oh yeah, and lost in all the "Its A Mad, Mad, Mad World" zaniness, welcome back Elias.

You're a guy with a call and response gimmick, who most of the live audience only moderately tolerated to begin with. And you're as exciting in the ring as a wet cardboard box melting in the rain.

You're doing to do great during the Hong-Kong Fluey WWE season.

Totally forgot about Elias. I think he has a lot of untapped potential in the ring, but he's booked like he's Tiny Tim or something.

Morrison versus either guy currently healthy on LHP will always be a joy to watch. The match was entertaining (with a major shout to LHP for being really fantastic), but it was the result I expected. If the New Day were going to retain, I'm not really sure why Miz and Morrison dropped the titles earlier. It would have made them look more credible as champions if they retained, defying the odds, but eventually getting caught tonight. We'll see what they have cooked up for the division going forward. Those are essentially the only teams established right now in the division.

Between the "Appreciate it, I'm gonna take the night off, too, Bobby" line and the slap, R-Truth delivered the goods...as usual. "I'm gonna sack you, Tom Brady!"

Other than noticing Bayley is extremely tan, the Women's title match was a big bag of nothing until the match went outside of the ring. Everything that happened after that point was pretty entertaining, certainly better than I was anticipating. Bayley has been in a pretty good groove as a heel champ since they've been without a crowd. Kind of feels like it'll be a big deal now when someone finally takes her out.

The promo package for Wyatt/Strowman was good because it got rid of most of the stupid banter from Strowman in the build to the match. Seemed awfully convenient that the 'Live' graphic wasn't present for the match, thus opening the door for the production shenanigans they went with. It feels awfully rare that Wyatt has done a tornado DDT but props to him for being able to pull it off and Strowman taking it. I liked the match quite a bit. The drawn out bit at the end probably gets points for Strowman crushing his past but Wyatt look silly because of it. This was obviously just a chapter to get to Fiend/Strowman. How they plan to unearth more story and interest remains a mystery.

Mixed feelings about the new theme for Rollins but we'll see how it ages. Montez Ford gets a lot of love for his frog splash, but Rollins has a pretty fantastic one, too. Feels like we haven't seen the superplex/falcon arrow combo in a while but that's always a crowdpleaser. I'm always a fan when someone kicks out at one to set the tone, so McIntyre's usage of that was great. Thought the match was extremely solid at providing an evenly-matched setting. Kind of surprised Murphy didn't find his way into the finish so that made it outright refreshing when it came to the actual finish. Banger. Post-match stuff creates more questions, which is a good thing in this scenario. Crowd would have taken that match to an extremely high level. Big-match Rollins is delivering right now, too.

Great rollout for the entrances. There had to be some great outtakes that came from those. I loved the bed music underneath the match itself. That goes a long way in creating an ambiance to this type of match. Major LOL moment to Dana asking where the briefcase was and grabbing the wrong one. She ultimately played her bumbling comedic self well. Styles getting caught up with the Taker stuff was a hilarious callback. McMahon in jeans is something I'm just not used to seeing lol.

Didn't see Asuka winning at all, but I guess they gave it away someone on Raw was going to win by announcing last week Becky was confronting the winner of the women's MITB. I appreciate the fact they recognized she has been one of the more entertaining aspects of either Raw or Smackdown over the last several weeks.

Corbin straight up reimagining the M in MITB to murder was expected but I didn't expect two people to go off the roof. Mysterio took the piss multiple times within the match which is kind of interesting in regards to his long-term outlook. As for the winner...

    From Friday with Smackdown.

He was arguably going to get one of the biggest pops at Mania with what happened, which is a testament to consistent storytelling and creating an investment in a character. He was in the main event of last week's episode and was in it again this week. I tend to think they haven't changed course very much and this just seems like an opportunity where he hasn't been able to capitalize in full on the push due to the lack of the audience. If this was all in front of an audience, it's hard to imagine that the crowd wouldn't be eating it all up.
Guess they're really, REALLY going for it with him. Not mad at it, but I'm curious to see what they make of it. He's got the girl, got the briefcase, and primed for bigger moments. There are a bunch of different ways they can go with it.

Otis possibly cashing in on Braun.....

I mean really who would’ve thought that as a World title match. It’s just bizarre!

We didn't know what floors the wrestlers were on, so there was no way for us to follow their progress. I expected them to announce where they were as the made their way through the building, but we got nothing. Even just some text at the bottom to indicate what floor they were on would have added allot to the match. I don't think they even told us how many floors Titan Towers has.

Think about it this way. With no fans in the audience, they can pretty much push whoever they want. It's the most controlled environment WWE's ever had. I would have preferred a slower rise, but I'm going to wait and see how it plays out.

Besides, even when the fans were still there live, Otis was getting over huge with that Mandy thing.

It’s not just bizarre but everything is going too well with him just now. Okay Ziggler and Sonya put him
down a bit but he’s gone from 0-100 in that time. Feel like it should be more of a struggle. He may be due a fall at some point to make it more of a struggle I suppose but still feels a bit quick.

And give him a decent finisher!
