HHH actually said that? What a tool.

Braun pinning Goldberg was almost like seeing Reese get his redemption.
    Almost...

Kassius Ohno should be Braun's first challenger.

I would love it if Shinsuke gave a promo every Friday.

Nikki and Asuka are terrific little psychos.
    Alexa is hot.
    Kyrie is hot. It's insane.

They aren't letting people with fevers into the performance Center, but I suppose the normal 98 degree body temperature still makes them hot

    It does.

Dolph looks hot under those lights.
Sonya looks hot in her (WM-)new outfit. Hotter than Raquel Gonzalez going through a table from behind...

Alexa Bliss hanging out with Nikki Cross is like an angry Gremlin hanging out with a rabid raccoon. And I love it.

And Asuka and Kairi Sane both act like barely functional lunatics, too.

The Women's Tag-Team Division needs some sane women in it. You know, for balance.

Maybe they can make Lacey Evans and Naomi - the human glowstick - into a permanent team. Switch Lacey babyface and have her team with a black chick to prove that she isn't a Southern-fried racist.

The only thing hotter would be Sonya going through Raquel from behind a table...

I wish I knew Alexa enough to call her Alex...

Sane does have a wacky sway to her way...

Lacey should start wearing only glow-in-the-dark body-paint ... for the hyphens (and for Vince, I guess).

Dolph sucks at doing the zig-zag and it's hotter than Raquel Gonzalez. That woman is not my type.
I kinda think she's stupid for taking that table bump, but who am I? I'm just a voice crying in the wilderness...

Mizorrison have been on a roll. They're so fresh and their competition so stale...
I dig the logic in the logic of their rematch. Should be another ladder match...

I was playing NXT catch-up last night and just noticed how much, at least facially, Raquel actually resembles Sonya Deville. If Sonya had "show, not go" muscles, she'd basically be a perfect double of Raquel.

They should paint their faces green and then no one would know the difference between them.
Asuka should mist them both on the same night, know what I mean?

It'd be just like when we all had to pretend the Basham Brothers looked identical, just because they were both bald and wore leather pants.

Yeah, you'd have to be a referee to get into it.

Forgotten Sons! And LHP! Now this is weird...

    Edit -
Ryker vs Strowman vs Elias, please...

    Ryker/Strowman
    ryker/elias
    Elias/strowman

It's Hogan, Andre, and Savage all over again.

Put Elias with The Forgotten Sons as their traveling bard.

He plays in dive bars for tips, so they can afford to gas up their bikes.

And they routinely beat him about the face and head, just for fun...

People are so cold on Tamina, if WWE tried to pipe in crowd noises over the P.A. speakers for her, the tape would refuse to play and catch fire.

    Horns?

You're saying Sasha Banks has horns?

Maybe that's why her forehead is so fucking big, huh?

Cal Bloom looked good and serious for about 2 seconds in there.

When I look at Sasha, all I see is Snoop Dogg.

Really I don’t want it myself. Sorry but Tamina’s crap.

Jax vs Sasha I could get a bit behind if you want a David vs Goliath type of thing but Tamina’s just there. Nothing excitable about her in any way.

I've hardly seen Tamina but I love mis-matches and carry-jobs, so I just want to see Banks backcracker that big girl.
A backcracker on Jax looks like it might backfire.

Hardly been seen and for good reason because she’s “meh” in every way possible. For one they’re still both heels and two the match would be terrible and the novelty would wear off.

That's a great finish. Have Nia Jaxx tear Sasha's knee apart for the whole match. Sasha makes her comeback, hits the backstabber and then she just lays there selling and the match has to be thrown out. Because Nia's incredible back fat weight just wrecked Sasha's knee too much to continue.

I hope they have a long match so we can see Sasha evolve in this feud with Bayley and grow as a wrestler.

I like Forgotten Sons better than the Bashams. I think they could turn some heads. Jackson Ryker should be a superstar.

They can go feud with Revival in AEW. I'm stunned that Tamina's stuck around for so long but she's probably a super nice lady.

They employed her known murderer father for like 15 years after everyone knew he beat his girlfriend to death and threw her down some stairs.

Tamina working there for so long is either their attempt at a "make good" or she knows where some other bodies are buried that'll have some WWE heads rolling.

Not that it actually matters, but I don't know why this women's tag title match happened on Smackdown. The champions can float between the brands but Asuka and Kairi have been on Raw up until this episode.

I can't imagine what the Triple H 25th Anniversary is going to be. They made a note to say it starts in two weeks on Smackdown. Oh boy...

Dolph Ziggler's line "this is real life...Identity theft is not a joke, Michael" popped me for some reason. Morrison mentioning the part in the Boneyard Match where Styles kept saying "don't bury me" was triggering him was another funny moment.

I imagine The Forgotten Sons will take the role of The Revival: tag team that's there but ultimately doesn't amount to anything.

No mention of Reigns, I believe. Tricky spot with Wyatt and Strowman. Wyatt probably shouldn't take a loss, even though he's coming off a high-profile moment at Mania, and Strowman shouldn't be that quick of a transitional champion. Guess that makes for an interesting dynamic for the build.

So the news came out after Smackdown that they were planning to tape five episodes of Smackdown, five episodes of Raw, and multiple episodes of NXT over the course of the upcoming week. The workload would have allowed them to tape everything building to MITB. That ultimately changed as they were granted ability to tape live each week. From a logistical standpoint (not in regards to what I mention later), I can't imagine what the actual upside was for WWE to get this benefit rather than just banking episodes in bulk. Maybe the only thing was a reduced workload for the editing team. It doesn't seem like an ideal scenario of constantly going back and forth for talent. I guess you'll rely more on those who live in Florida and then fly in talent sparingly.

Meltzer reported that there's apparently a clause in the network deals they have with Fox and USA that say WWE is allowed to have a low number of taped episodes per year (no lower than three but no idea of how high they can add up to). Prior to the pandemic, they earmarked three episodes, for sure, that would be taped in regards to the European tours and Christmas. The working idea from Meltzer is that banking more episodes could violate the contracts and then give the networks an avenue to withhold money or outright change the deals. Seems like a slippery slope because WWE has leverage by being available for Fox and USA but they don't want to leave things to chance, considering they're making no money with house shows and merchandise sales from in-arena attendees.

What I don't get is that it's not like spoilers are getting out, so what does it matter if it's live or taped? Like I understand the TV organisations wouldn't want them doing the typical taped shows (international, Christmas and New Year's) every week because ratings tend to suck more than usual, but this scenario? Doing it live literally has no benefit whatsoever to FOX and USA, it just creates further ethical issues with talent, what, quarantined with each other until lockdown is over? I understand them needing first run programming, despite not agreeing with that, but this is just stupid.

I'm hoping it's Vince trying to bluff them into confirming full payment of the contract if shows are taped during a pandemic and they go back to taping a month of content in 4 days and getting everybody back to their families. What should be happening is mini 24's on the whole roster over the next 12 weeks or so, rebuilding characters and creating an actual connected universe for when they can resume operations. Look at the pieces on Edge and R Truth and tell me empty arena matches would do a better job of these guys resonating with the viewer.

The report by Meltzer and the rest directly passes the buck and now takes some of the heat off WWE and puts it on the TV Networks.

Look at the pieces on Edge and R Truth and tell me empty arena matches would do a better job of these guys resonating with the viewer.
It probably does resonate with the viewer in a lot of ways, but there’s an issue. The issue becomes that’s a very reduced viewing audience because people will still watch but I image a large chunk decides to not watch. Sure there’s a direct competitor on Wednesday but the outright docu-like episode of NXT three weeks ago went in the tank in terms of viewers. Tricky situation to navigate. I’m not disagreeing that it would be good TV because that NXT episode was good, but it opens the door to allow people to outright tune out.

I just don't see the ratings dipping enough for it to be a factor. The current audience are surely the deadliest of the diehard since it's currently a product of inconsequential matches filmed in an empty gymnasium. Plus the reviews of the off location 'Mania stuff being favourable. Maybe film some fresh squash matches to intersperse between the footage. End up with a roster of bonafide hard cases who have fully fledged characters and haven't lost in months.

If the reports are to be taking with a sense of validity, the idea of docu-like shows seems like a non-starter because it’s not live. The ratings are already trending down so seeing more of a negative slide, if they did these docs, would become a factor. I’m not sure how it couldn’t be seen as a factor. I see the easy counter by saying NXT had a competitor Wednesday but there’s tangible evidence to show their audience, which is a diehard audience, tuned out when it was apparent it wasn’t actual wrestling. They came back the next week when it was actual wrestling.

Even with the squash matches, they have to build to something. You can’t go months without a destination. You need the PPVs to create chapters.

Difference is that NXT is clearly presented as the "wrestling" show, so not featuring wrestling would be a negative to the audience they're trying to attract on Wednesday nights. The ratings are going to go down on the back end of 'Mania anyway, with the audience not expecting to see Lesnar, Undertaker, Edge, Cena, Goldberg and Reigns for the foreseeable future. It's definitely a difficult situation they're in, but so is everybody, and keeping the talent out of danger should be the priority.

Talent being allowed to decide whether they're comfortable with working or opting out has been going on with AEW. Not so much WWE, aside from the obvious thing with Roman Reigns.

What WWE should do is a series of live, unscripted interviews for every Raw, Smackdown!, and NXT. Every episode, Renee Young sits down with a wrestler and they go over their life, their career, their thoughts and feelings. Make it like a mini-shoot interview.

And every episode concludes with one or two matches from the vault, showing highlights of that wrestler's career.

Also, I'd take this time to strip every champion of their titles. Announce that when WWE comes back and starts running live events in front of people again, they'll host a series of one-night tournaments to crown all-new champions. The Women's Tag-Team Tournament will be a Network Special, and it'll feature all the greatest female tag-teams in WWE and from around the world. It'll be the "Jumping Bomb Angels Tag-Team Classic".

A rescheduled Money In The Bank event has an unprecedented FOUR Money In The Bank ladder matches. The winners of those four respective matches will be the new Universal Champion, Smackdown! Champion, United States Champion, and Intercontinental Champion.

    And so on.

Hell, they could do an entire TV episode just interviewing guys in the tournament remotely, from home. Show how guys are settling in and training. When they try to interview Bray Wyatt, his screen is just black and you hear screaming and crying out in pain when they cut to it.

There's so many ways WWE can fill time without having their wrestlers work in an empty gym and risk catching this by going out in public to get there.

Or Hell, maybe they can move a group in there? Make that their residence for a month so they shelter in place orders are being followed.

Imagine that as a WWE Network documentary; 12 WWE wrestlers, a ref, some crew people, and the announcers are cooped up in a makeshift dormitory at the Performance Center. It'd be like WWE's version of Big Brother.

Florida's moron governor is going to cause the entire state to be a hot spot. They are almost refusing to test people due to a backlog they don't want to talk about. I give it two weeks til most of the roster test positive. If anyone in Florida with half a brain would shut everything down including the Performance Center. WWE is not essential to live. I can almost guarantee Fox wants out of the deal.

That's why they should take my idea.

Everybody who's already there, lives there.

Turn it into a "Big Brother" reality show. As long as the crew and wrestlers aren't sick right now, if nobody leaves and nobody comes in, then they won't get sick.

Yeah...I thinking someone will get it even if it's Big Brother. Cast of 10 will need a crew of at least 20 for 24/7 video. I can't even go to my parents to have a meal for 8 people, tomorrow for Easter. So, I'm not sure why this is even happening besides Linda was part of Team Trump.

Vince needs to do the right thing and shut it down, but being a MAGAhole he won’t stop until one of his athletes/on-screen employees/contractors catches it and dies.

If this were normal times I’d love to see Bray challenge Braun, I think that would be an epic feud. Braun dropping the strap to Bray at Survivor Series, after mowing through a handful of challengers, would completely invigorate Strowman’s career.

The Vince-Paul power transition can’t happen soon enough...

Bray's laugh sounds like Jerry Lawler's...

Did anyone see how hot Braun was tonight? He was sweating!

I'm guessing Braun makes it through Bray but falls victim to the Fiend at MITB.

Still waiting for that first compelling Moment of Bliss segment to come across. Though I think the decision to go towards this was too fast, Wyatt/Strowman is being built well as they're working off a decent enough backstory. It is going to be awkward though as they try to talk about the family and half of them are gone, haha.

It's a moment in time to see Tamina and Dana win their matches against Sasha and Naomi. What a time to be alive. The stuff with Lacey is kind of cheesy but I think it's passable.

They're definitely pulling no punches with Hardy. I'm curious to see how long he can hold up and how far they want to take him.

Prichard is going to provide a HELL of a story on a podcast in the future by sharing who came up with the idea of "corporate headquarters" being the scene for the MITB matches. For one, I'm intrigued to see how innovative they can be. It feels like it could overwork the cinematic touch for matches but this could still be unique enough to not dilute the gimmick. They're going to help with the deconstruction costs as they're likely going to destroy big parts of that building.

Sonya stepped up to the plate with her promo and she knocked it out of the park. She's shown very, very small flashes of having the promo skills in the past and she really delivered here. Like Strowman/Wyatt, there was good utilization of history in the back and forth with Mandy, too. All of that does make me curious to see if they validate it by making sure Mandy doesn't become an afterthought. Tucker now has his head on the chopping block in regards to being irrelevant in the story, especially when the dust settles.

The hacker segment definitely planted the seeds for another team/pairing to break up. What's good is that they paid off the first hacking in a good way and there's enough workable angles to create another separation. All of the ones that were show are options, as well are Bryan/Gulak, Artist Collective.

The race continues between Charlotte and New Day for title reigns (Nine Raw/SD for Charlotte, Eight Raw/SD for New Day). The match itself was too short, due to the commercial but it was fun for what it was. Good showing for E.

Wouldn't surprise me if there's no real identity of the hacker yet. WWE has had a tendency to hint at ominous figures only for the reveal to be "oh yeah, that dude."

    Two things:
I missed this initially but it’s Bray listed as the opponent for the Universal Title so we’ve got the match with Miz as a template. Could give them an out for a way to Strowman to retain, if they want, and prolong it to where Strowman has to face both entities at some point.

Even with MITB matches being taped at HQ, I’m not ruling out a creative means to initiate a cash-in within the same night.

The identity of the hacker will be HHH, because they will find a way to make his 25th anniversary relevant to the current product. Somehow, Dolph will look even worse, and Otis will caterpillar away, and HHH will manage to get Mandy falling all over him while Steph is not looking

Think I've been a bit wrong regarding Braun Strowman. I thought he was perfect in every regard, but he is severely lacking in mic skills and acting. He just looks really uncomfortable doing either. Maybe it's the lack of crowd? Don't expect him to be champ for long.

They should have given him a mouth piece, a Heyman, and had him as the strong, silent killer type. He could have just spouted out his catchphrases, much like Yokozuna yelling Banzai at the end of promos.

Good observation in regards to the opening segment. It's not the lack of a crowd because he was not totally in the pocket when things had to expand beyond a quick soundbyte in promos. Not terrible, but not polished for his character.

I don't think he's entirely limited in that regard; he's had to be everything from a dancing jackass to Alexa Bliss's only male friend. Now he has to play vulnerable to Bray's mindgames? Yeah, that's not right. He should be anything but vulnerable.

I say put him in a speedo and have him play that wrestling character from Street Fighter.
Edit - and refuse to job

The opening segment told me Tucker is a bit of the shit because they needed two more teams to fit into the tag title picture and despite having their own storyline with Mandy (with the obvious emphasis on Otis), Heavy Machinery wasn't involved.

Meanwhile, Renee is a special contributor to Smackdown, I believe, and they definitely utilize her sparingly. I believe this was the first time she was on SD since her "exclusive" sit-down interview with Lacey in February.

Seems like a bummer that Gulak didn't even get his own entrance music for his match lol. Not for nothing, Corbin's ripcord slam is another nice move to add to his set of visually pleasing move set. Part of me would kind of like to see Corbin win simply to become the first person to win twice, cash in twice, and lose twice.

I like how they're outlined Jeff Hardy's return this time around. The amount of honesty they've displayed with his drug issues isn't fully realized but it's more than I anticipated. In addition, hearing the pop at Mania when the Hardy Boyz returned never ceases to produce goosebumps.

The stuff between Morrison and Lucha House Party was really, really fun to watch. Seems like they're really trying to do work on Smackdown to make the tag division on an entirely level playing field. I appreciate the effort but don't have a lot of hopes in it lasting.

Lacey/Sasha was quite entertaining. Sasha is taking a healthy amount of Ls right now but I don't think it's going to hurt her in the grand scheme of things. Despite being a really stout field for her to be in the midst in, Lacey might be primed to be the winner. She's build momentum as a character, she's really developed in the ring, and there's a ready-made feud for to capitalize on with Bayley. That can ultimately need to the dissolving of Sasha/Bayley and Lacey can see what happens with a run. They tried too hard early on with her but the time is probably right to look for that moment now.

The video for Wyatt and Strowman was nice but it clearly is grasping at straws to tell a story. Strowman didn't leave Wyatt. He was drafted to a different brand, but they're trying to convey a story that Strowman turned on Wyatt. This just makes it a feud of convenience and not one of urgency.

The celebration was long but it had quite a few entertaining moments: HBK bringing up Triple H's shortcomings, Stephanie mocking HBK as Triple H hung up, Flair's zinger about a superkick. McMahon has definitely lost his fastball when it comes to promos. All in all, the segment had its ups and downs, but it had a good amount of entertaining moments.

Bryan's promo was pretty damn good and inspired. Good on Bryan calling Corbin out on his bullshit for calling back to Corbin's failure. That's part of the reason I actually wouldn't mind if Corbin won it because I'd actually book it to where he failed again. What a shock: a match with Bryan was good. Entertaining match between the two before the shenanigans came around for the DQ finish. It's going to be MAD deflating if Elias is the mystery partner next week . He's pretty much the only guy who makes sense.

It's crazy when you remember how they wrote Jeff Hardy off TV back in 2019 to recover from his injury (if you remember). The landscape in relation to that and WWE, in general, has dramatically changed since then. This feels like the last big run Hardy has left. Hopefully he can make the most of it.

Only memorable moment of the tag match was E trying to pop Graves with his gyrating. Another week, another situation where they're trying to level the playing field for the division.

I'm kind of surprised of the results for the MITB qualifying matches. Ziggler feels like he's usually tailor made for these matches. I also felt they could have gone with Mandy being in the match and being close, only to have Sonya cost her and raising the tension between the two of them. Be that as it may, Sonya delivered again with everything she did within the segment. Hilarious to see that Noble wears cowboy boots with his suit. Ziggler and Sonya could be a good pairing if Ziggler can actually incorporate the darkness Sonya has been able to convey over the last few weeks.

Strowman isn't good as champion. He should just be a guy fucking up people left and right, doesn't need a title at all.

Ziggler and Sonya really do compliment each other. I'd like to see what they can do long term.

Going to be a tough period for old Donald: Strowman getting exposed with more of a spotlight on him, Nese probably going down in flames in the tournament, and Dana potentially set up to do a lot of nothing in the MITB match.

Smackdown doesn't read as being even remotely watchable since Wrestlemania. Has there ever been a WWE roster with less star power on a weekly basis? With Roman out for the foreseeable, he surely needs to be replaced? Owens maybe getting brought over? Or does Jeff Hardy get a monster push?

On paper these shows lack star power, but the workrate is good. Corbin/Bryan is the first time I've missed the crowds to hear what they'd have sounded like.

I don't miss Reigns, but Hardy/Sheamus seems promising.

There's literally nothing on SmackDown I bother to check out on Youtube at this point. Let me know when Ali's revealed as the hacker. Have they even been doing the glitchy The Truth Will Be Heard stuff the past couple weeks? Or have they dropped that angle already?

Don't believe it's come back around for a bit. A big plot hole was Ziggler seemingly comfortable sharing his plan with Sonya after the fact backstage...when they got busted prior to Mania for having their ruse on Mandy revealed by the hacker. I guess the out is that commentary can try to explain that Ziggler is pretty much off his rocker at this point and doesn't care how malicious he's going to come across.

I love Otis and all but a bit strange to put him in the MITB over Ziggler. I guess they’re going for the “Is be too big to climb a ladder?” angle.

Tucker’s been left for dust. Maybe they should have him turn heel on Otis out of jealousy. That could be the hacker’s next target.

Is Otis in the Money In The Bank match? I thought he just qualified for the gauntlet match to determine the last spot? He still has to win that, right?

No, him and Ziggler was a qualifier to get in the match. The gauntlet match is just for Raw guys since Crews is a Raw guy.

Confused at them dropping it down to 6 per match when there's 8 people in that tag match. Surely with the cinematic approach at the HQ they could have had half the roster in it and cycle them out while filming it.

It's Otis's time now, so it makes sense to give him the win. This is a bigger match than the one at 'Mania, so having Ziggler go over could hurt Otis's momentum. I've noticed lately that there's been less 50/50 booking with certain people. Liv proved she's superior to Ruby and now Otis has shown he's superior to Ziggler. It's refreshing.

Yeah, I think Ziggler getting in over Otis would've been a good deal stranger to be honest.

Yeah but it's not as if he's expected to win the briefcase. Just thought Ziggler would be a better fit, they could've had Sonya screw Otis here to build to the eventual mixed tag.

I don't think the star power is horrible. It's thin now but I think once Ali, Zayn, and Hardy come back it will help. Not to mention Roman.

I don't think the star power is bad either. I just think it's a lack of stories with major substance to them. The stories at the top trickle down. Raw has a strong champ with a decent enough feud, a secondary title that is now being harnessed by a new group/faction, the more popular women's champ (and the NXT champ still showing up) and some other things.

Smackdown doesn't have a compelling champ and the story is disjointed, a tag division that's looking to elevate everyone at the expense of the champs, a secondary champ who isn't there at the moment, and a good but simmering women's title picture/feud. It's not that Smackdown is completely devoid of good stories but when you look at that way, it's clear there's a disparity.

I think Strowman suffers from the lack of live crowd. He's like Ryback in a way, needs the crowd to chant along his catch phrases, but is void of anything other than that.Should he be a world champion? Yes, just not during the current situation.

If it's Bray Wyatt facing Strowman I can see Strowman squashing him, but hopefully the Fiend will face him shortly after and take the title off of him. At least Bray has the FireFly funhouse to play around in.

I think you're on to something here about Braun. He is much better with the crowd to react for him, but its not just his catch phrases. He needs the crowd to react to his power moves, or his train wreck speed, which is something the WWE generally hasn't allowed its big performers to use. While I think he's getting better, or at least more comfortable without a crowd, it seems pretty clear that he won't be intimidated by Bray. However, Vince never seems to allow faces to look remotely intelligent, so I wonder if they will use the fact that they are recorded, and have Bray take a beating for several minutes, before he is thrown out of the ring, Bray rolls under the ring, only for the lights to turn red, and have the Fiend roll out a second later from the other side of the ring, hit Braun over the head with an international object, then hit the Mandible Claw for the win. It may piss off a lot of fans, but having the Fiend on top and Braun in chase mode could be a story that plays better than having Braun continue to look strong.

They have a few cats already in the match that can land on the ladder and sell it like crazy Mr Perfect style. Plus it gives us someone different that's never been in one and who thought a year ago this guy would be where he is? Dolph's had his time, might as well spend it on someone else.

Well it’ll give Otis some exercise climbing up through the building lol unless he cheats and uses the lift!

Here’s a question, how exactly are these belts going to be hung on the roof? On a flagpole? A low flying helicopter with the belt suspending the belts or something?

Also please give Otis a proper finisher ffs. Caterpillar is fine for a signature but finisher is too far.

Something like World’s Strongest Slam would be fine.

I haven't been watching Smackdown. Have they announced if he is facing the Fiend or is it like the match with Miz? Maybe it's just a way to prolong the feud so the Fiend beats him eventually before dropping it to Roman once they are able to have shows with fans.

They had a graphic up saying Braun vs. Bray Wyatt, so I assume it's not going to be the Fiend. The Fiend manhandled Braun last fall. I wish they would bring that up in this feud.

Maybe the Fiend comes after? Regular Bray can’t get the job done so then Braun has to deal with the Fiend.
