We're pretty much heading towards that after we get through Super Showdown. Sure there's Elimination Chamber but that presumably helps set the table for Mania.
Reports are circulating that the match is tentatively set at 14 matches. If that's the case, let's look at the numbers and what is reportedly known.
They traditionally want to get (mostly) everyone on the show so there will be two battle royals. All of the titles should be defended. The CW title is now exclusively to NXT so that's taken out of the mix, but the NXT women's championship has been included this year due to Flair challenging Ripley.
Fourteen matches is the framework.
1. Men's Battle Royal
2. Women's Battle Royal
3. Lesnar versus McIntyre
4. Ripley versus Flair
5. Presumably Lynch versus Baszler
6.7. Universal Title Match
8. Presumably Orton versus Edge
9. IC Title Match (if you've forgotten - Strowman)
10. US Title Match (if you've forgotten - Andrade)
11. Raw Tag Title Match
12. Smackdown Tag Title Match
13. SD Women's Title Match
14. Women's Tag Title Match
We're likely getting Rollins versus Owens here, especially now with Joe out of the mix due to his suspension. If he wasn't suspended, we probably could have had the door open for the Raw tag titles to be defended there.
Reigns and The Fiend could be the direction for the Universal Title but Super Showdown could change course of things. Cena is likely to be involved with his appearance on Smackdown. Bryan is the most notable person that doesn't have a direction.
Thoughts? Not sure how they're planning to make it work if 14 is the goal.
