Wilfred's Debate: Round 2 Tie 3-Donald vs. Kev

    @Donald vs @Kev

Well done for making it past a gruelling first round. But now it gets tougher.

Good news! You've found the legendary Time Machine of Guam. Using the Time Machine, you're now able to rewrite history. Of course, the only responsible use is fantasy booking.

Topic - Your task is to select one match from last year that you would change the result for (participants in the actual match must stay the same). Explain how you would change the result, and how this change would have proven more beneficial moving forward. Demonstrate why your choice provides more benefit than your opponent's selection.

    RULES:

    - You have 5 days/120 hours and 3 posts each in this debate. A maximum word count of 500 words per post will be allowed. Please do not go over this limit.

    - All posts must be done within the 120 hour time limit so any posts made after the time limit will not count even if there is in an uneven number of posts at the end.

    - All posts must be staggered. You can't make your next post until the other debater has had their turn.

    - If there is a no-show from anyone after 120 hours, then their opponent who does turn up will automatically advance.

    - No editing of posts allowed unless it is for something spelling, grammatical mistakes or accidentally going over your word count. However you must come and inform myself or Badger first where we will approve them.

    - Pictures, gifs and videos can be used in literally unlimited amounts to support your point. Information should be self-contained within your post. For example, you can't post a link to an article and expect people to go read it. Quote it in your post.

    - Quoting words from your articles does count towards your word count but quoting your opponent does not.

The order of posting will be determined by a coin toss. The coin toss has revealed that Donald will be going first!

    Let's get dangerous.

For the most part, WWE makes sense with their booking decisions. Sure, a fan will always want it to be booked so their favorites win the titles and such. But you have to understand that there are more fans than just you to cater too. However, there was a match last year where the outcome just didn't make any sense. This match occurred on June 23, 2019, at the Stomping Grounds PPV.

Akira Tozawa vs. Tony Nese (Champion) vs. Drew Gulak for the Cruiserweight title.

Here's some backstory to this match. Tony Nese is the premier athlete. Not only can he soar in the ring, as evident by his 450 splash, but he has the physique men dream of and strength unparalleled in the cruiserweight division. A couple of months before Stomping Grounds, he was selected to win the Cruiserweight Championship from Buddy Murphy. But it wasn't just at some 205 Live show. This was on the greatest PPV of all time, WrestleMania. You have value to a company that books you to win a title at their premier event. A premier moment for a premier athlete.

This was WWE's opportunity to make the Cruiserweight title mean something. You have someone with all the tools and then some as the champion, you can only go up from there. This was the time to move the title off of pre-shows and onto the main cards. This was the time for the Cruiserweight title to mean something again, not seen since the days Enzo Amore held it. After ho hum reigns of Cedric Alexander and Buddy Murphy, Tony Nese was the man to put that belt on a pedestal high. They gave him a rematch against Buddy Murphy and a match against Davairi, but then, two months later for some reason the WWE decided to have Drew Gulak beat Tony Nese in a three way match. And did Drew Gulak elevate the title at all? No he did not. He's more known for PowerPoint presentations these days.

Tony Nese had the capability to make the cruiserweight division mean something, but WWE never gave him the chance. They gave Cedric Alexander and Buddy Murphy longer reigns, why not Tony Nese?

Luckily for Nese he's still being featured regularly on TV, including wonderful matches with Aleister Black and Ricochet back in December. Hopefully, it's only a matter of time before WWE realizes the mistake they had of taking the title off of Tony Nese so soon.

I fail to see how that outcome did not make any sense. Nese held the belt for a few months and there were a lot of people that felt Gulak really deserved it as a result of the effort he was putting in. There was a large contingent that felt he was long overdue for a reign.
