The NXT talent really helped me get through Raw, I haven’t watched this much of the show in a long time. And I look forward to the eventual spot where someone gets tossed through the plexiglass. I feel bad for Austin Theory, he’s super handsome, has a really good physique but will be bald within 5 years.

And then his career will take off. He'll become the right hard bastard he needs to be.

Hogan, Austin, Rock, HBK....Vince loves the balding.

Super Cena was a close cut buzz. Silly, Hippy Hair John Cena loses in mind fuck matches.

    Coincidence? Keep telling yourself that.

So Sane gets fucked up wrestling Nia.....again:

    https://rajah.com/node/wwe-star-inju...nday-night-raw

WWE taped next week's episode of Monday Night Raw earlier today from the Performance Center, with NXT and PC wrestlers resuming their roles as fans in the crowd.

According to Fightful, former NXT and women's tag champion Kairi Sane was hurt during a singles-matchup against Nia Jax. The report states that Sane sustained a cut on her head while outside the ring, and the bout was temporarily stopped so the on-site medical team could attend to her. They resumed the match shortly after.

No word as to the severity of Sane's injury. She missed some action at the tail end of 2019 due to a concussion suffered at TLC.

I felt bad for the NXT talent that had to stand up for the entire 3 hours of RAW.

I noticed Austin Theory's thin hair and I was convinced that he'd be told to grow a mullet, a la Eddie Guererro, to lose in a hair vs hair match against I dunno, maybe someone like Morrison. Because I am not convinced that MizMo will last longer than it would take for Theory to grow a mullet.

I haven't seen this week's RAW, but in the Zelina Vega stable, Austin Theory looked like a jobber you'd face in your first match as a CAW in the WWE video games. Just a generic looking dude. Hopefully being with Rollins will help him, he was out of place in the Vega stable.

"Gets fucked up" is a bit of a strong phrase for just getting a cut. And nothing in there says Nia had anything to do with the injury. She got cut while outside the ring. Might've just fallen and nicked her head on something.

Yeah read that article, the people in the comments are ridiculous though. "Nia is too big" etc. Then again, I don't think I've read a sensible comment on the Rajah main page. Don't know why I bother going through them.

Really you have to see the footage and what went down before accusing Nia any wrong doing. I think it may have to do with her track record so people just jump to conclusions.

Doesn’t say in that particular article, I grabbed it off the main page earlier but later articles have said she got thrown into the steps then suffered the cut.

It’s not a major injury but it sounds like Nia may have possibly either thrown her too hard, Kairi wasn’t ready or her aim was off (like the buckle bomb). Guess we will see though.

    Of course.

But Nia’s so bad it’s not the Sloppy Joe anymore it’s the Sloppy Jax.

Eh, she's just a stepping stone for Asuka to get to Shayna Baszler. Then Nia will go form a tag team with Tamina again.

Also the steps are metal with sharp edges. Maybe it was the steps' fault.

that is just like the internet. blame the steps. so trendy.

let me tell you, those steps are out there every night, doing their job. And 1 in 10000 times, someone gets hurt blame it on the steps. I guess those steps should just be curved so there aren't sharp edges. Give the steps and nickle and they can turn themselves into bean bags and go get a coffee.

And then every time Zelina Vega walks up them, she falls and busts her ass. I guarantee that happens more often than a cut.

Let's respect those steps might be rigid, but they are rigid in their support of the people who actually need to walk up them to get to the ring. Let's put aside all this crazy talk about rounded edges, bean bag steps, and floating discs and respect a hard-working institution.

    I applaud you steps.

Accidents do happen but given what Nia just did to her a month prior and her record, you can't blame some for thinking it may not be coincidence. These things happen too often with her.

I'm just saying maybe the steps need to spend a little more time honing their craft. I'm not sure they have the passion, probably just in it for the money and notoriety. Probably just using this as a stepping stone. Maybe they should take a step down to NXT for awhile.

How long until there's a "Kairi is injury prone" narrative? "These things happen too often with her" could also be applied to Sane at this point as she's one who keeps getting hurt.

So unless a step is walked up by Miss Elizabeth in the Main Event at Wrestlemania, I guess its a failure.

    Sure.

But when the WWE was forced to hole up in Tampa, where were the fancy stairs? Take those the steps three stairs at a time, and I guess soon we'll be playing at Carnegie Hall.

The steps in Tampa were the steps that were there. And it doesn't matter which show they're on. They're pulling triple duty. And they stay strong. They're supporting literally everyone. They're lifting the company.

Otis couldn't climb a ladder to stardom, but he certainly took the steps to get there.

    And those steps never waivered.

Send them back down my ass.

It's not like she's become injured as a result of her own botches though. She's had stuff thrown at her, chucked into the bottom turnbuckle and now the bottom of the steps. Maybe she's too fragile lol.

Seriously though, these things happened outwith her control whereas Nia is the one in control so she has unfortunately earned that reputation.

Hey Mazer what about those poor chairs as well? They have to bear the weight of fat arses sitting on them then get used as weapons, sometimes dented too.

Those chairs are also heroes. Praise the chairs!

It always comes back to the chairs with you. they have their matches, specialty moves, and special designs. I think they're doing fine.

Classic internet move to distract from the steps.

Nah I was giving them equal recognition.

Inaminate objects should get their own Hall of Fame. Steps and ladders induct each other, chairs and tables should induct each other. Cookie sheets and garbage cans. "Barbie" inducted by Mick Foley in the celebrity objects wing.

And don't blame Seth for gouging out Rey's eye. Those steps shouldn't be so sharp and pointy. They need to child proof those things asap.

Instead of Rey “retiring” put an eye patch on him and make him a pirate. Rename the 619 and Dropping the Dime to Pieces of 8 and Walking the Plank. West Coast Pop becomes Shiver Me Timbers.

R Truth got his baby back and all is right in the world. Now it's time to watch Sane injure herself and blame it on Jax

Guessing the throw into the steps is what did it. I think Sane comes up with dangerous spots in matches to put her opponents over more, or she just agrees to wild stuff all the time. I hope she protects herself more in the future.

Good lord that Asuka vs Charlotte match was WresleMania-quality till that schmozz finish

So tonight is probably my favorite episode of the “No fans” era, maybe even the best of 2020.

Advice to WWE : you have the most talented “pro wrestlers” / performers in the world. And Lo and behold, if you just let them have good matches, it’s entertaining, it ain’t rocket science

On a word for word basis, he consistently produces the most effective trolling on this site. Some of the other heavy hitters require paragraphs and paragraphs. Nowhere near that efficiency.

The advanced metrics for him are off the charts.

I watched the whole of Raw last night for the first time in months. Can't quite put my finger on it, but I didn't particularly enjoy it all that much. Asuka and Charlotte was good though and I really enjoy Joe on commentary. His enthusiasm for wrestling holds is great to hear.

The crowd is just one massive cringe. Their over the top gesturing and cheering comes across as so forced because it is. Not even sure if it's a step up from having no crowd at all, to be honest.

I think I'll stick to NXT and Dynamite for now. Their crowds are bearable.

I'll obviously be watching Backlash though.

Also according to a report on the main page:

-- We've previously reported about the exhausting schedule for NXT talent that were asked to serve as the audience at last week's WWE TV tapings for Raw, Smackdown, 205 Live and Main Event. With 205 Live and Main Event being taped first in the morning, by the time Raw filming began at approximately 2 PM, the NXT talent was sluggish, as per a report at wrestlinginc.com. The story adds that "someone backstage" then came over the P.A. system and instructed the audience to be more "enthusiastic" with one person suggesting that it sounded like a "parent talking down to a child."

-- In another note from these tapings, the NXT wrestlers that formed the crowd were kept separate from the main roster talent on the show. They were not allowed at catering with the others and were housed in tents outside where they ate their lunch, which they were required to pack themselves and bring from home. They also spent their breaks outside in the tents.
    That’s ridiculous if it’s true.

I disagree about the crowd being worse than having no crowd at all. They are still just finding their way, and the taping schedule can easily lead to exhaustion. Since each person has to make up for ten or so people in a normal crowd, they are trying to exaggerate their volume level. I could do with far less gesturing, but having some reaction helps the wrestlers in the ring. But I noticed one thing they are clearly lacking compared to a real audience - alcohol.

If they just tone it down a bit it would, ironically, appear less fake. Definite room for improvement.

The wrestlers in the crowd at AEW shows feels more organic, while the NXT talent comes across as being directed on how to behave.

Aside from the AEW talent being more expreienced, I would guess they are given a bit more free reign on their reactions too.

If this is anything to go by we might be getting real crowds back soon.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Wednesday the state's Phase 2 plans to reopen much of the economy beginning Friday with bars, movie theaters, and other "entertainment" in 64 of the 67 counties in Florida. Under this new order, bars will be able to open with 50% capacity indoors and full capacity outdoors, provided that proper social distancing of 6 feet is maintained between tables. The re-openings also affect movie theaters, bowling alleys and concert halls and seems to pave the way for wrestling events - WWE and AEW predominantly - to also reopen in the near future with a live audience and the same social distancing restrictions in place. WWE and AEW have been running shows in Florida at their respective locations but without any members of the general public in attendance. If this order does open the door for things to go back to "normal", expect both promotions to take advantage of it soon.

-- While other states also begin to re-open their economies, the future of wrestling "house shows" is still very much in the air as that area of the business was already losing money even without all the restrictions in place

Raw just seems to recycle the same thing week after week. Where are the cliffhanger endings? The unpredictability? Even early RAWs that were just squash match after squash match were more exciting.

It's absolutely terrible. No wonder the ratings are so awful. I bet early 2000s, a weekly RAW thread would have had at least 10 pages of comments on here.

I don't know if WWE is just playing it safe until the corona virus ends or what, but my goodness. I think I might just start watching This Week in WWE on the Network. Half an hour recap of 5 hours of wrestling.

They have a talented roster, but most of the talent have no personality. Apollo Crews just comes out smiling saying he's looking forward to seeing who he will face at Backlash. ? We know Lashley is just going to lose at Backlash so what's the point of caring? Kevin Owens is wasted. Here's hoping he's Drew's next challenger, now that Mahal is out of action.

I will say, I do quite like the Raiders/Profits stuff. Probably the only one who does, I know. But at least it's something different.

Asuka vs. Charlotte should be a big deal whenever it happens, but I just didn't care enough to watch it, I shut RAW off around 10 PM and went to bed. Just don't care. Starting to get that way with NXT too. Maybe it is the no crowd/paid crowd environment. I should take a break from wrestling until the crowds hopefully come back in the fall.

I only watched the first hour of RAW but I thought it was decent. I liked hearing Christian on the mic again.
The PC crowd was rough at first, but I think they're getting the hang of things...

RAW and WWE in general would be much better if RAW were just an hour. It is just entertainment after all...

Agreed. It feels like they are kind of scripting the crowd too even. Cutting to crowd shots all the time like its a normal episode is stupid too.

I think most people appreciate the noise but dont need to see the people making the noise as it looks a bit grim.

I actually liked no crowds so it's not that for me. I haven't really watched RAW/SD in years outside of an occasional episode if I have nothing else to do (which usually ends up disappointing). Meanwhile, I consider NXT a can't miss show every week. Reasons why: fresh faces, talent that feel unique and credible, well crafted feuds, good build for matches, a sense of unpredictability. RAW/SD just feel like formulaic unimportant commercials for the PPVs. I basically only care about Asuka and Aleister Black on RAW and absolutely no one on SD.

I’m not sure what the deal was for the Takeover “crowd” versus the weekly episode crowd because it was quite clear the crowd for Takeover was much more lively and good. If they were always like that, I imagine the overall vibe would be improved for the viewing audience.

I found the crowd to be pretty good for TakeOver, with the exception of during Killian Kross's match. Chanting whatever line it was, over and over, like sheep. Start of the match and the end of the match. Ruined his super cool entrance for me and made it cringey.

Basically agree 100% with this. I watch NXT and I watch Dynamite. Enjoy both loads and that's enough for me.

I still enjoy WWE's main PPVs on the whole, just wish they were generally shorter.

The crowd for Raw was so robotic, just chanting on cue. The TakeOver crowd was so much better, probably because they were actually into the show.

It was good to see Christian again but still not feeling this “greatest wrestling match ever” theme. They’re setting themselves up for a fall if anything goes wrong. I do hope they do deliver something great at Backlash but keeping my expectations on the ground.

Loved Asuka/Charlotte. One of these days Asuka will get her win back. They can probably revisit that fact once Asuka’s done with Nia unless she gets Shayna first.

Who’s the worse cult leader - Seth Rollins or Brodie Lee?

Nia Jax isn’t like most girls. Most girls don’t almost kill Kairi Sane twice and still keep their job.

In a prediction I fully expect to be wrong about, I kind of feel like Ciampa shows up during the main event.

What's worse, is that she is now in a long term program with the champion Asuka. A champion that can't seem to to get a clean, non contested victory over her. First it was the double KO, and now a fast count. Way to make your champion look strong... . Unless Asuka murders her in their inevitable next match, just give the belt to Nia and be done with it. Have her lose it to Alexa Bliss again...

Also, so since this Christian/Orton match is non sanctioned, I expect steel chairs and blood. At least a table. Brass knucks would make it five stars.

They didn’t do the lights out gimmick for this match.

That’s the perfect way to do it - Lights out, RKO, Orton wins.

Orton still had an ATB charge from last night, so he unleashed his level 3 at the start. With help from "sneak attack" skill. When are people going to stop trusting Rick Flair? He's been a dirty bastard for longer than I've been alive.

    Close enough.

Exactly how I thought that would go. Christian’s neck is made from LEGO bricks and pleasant thoughts at this point. Of course he wasn’t going to work a “real” match.

Raw was fine. Nothing terrible, subtle progression with most of the main stories. This version of Randy Orton is prime Orton. Delivering on the dynastic promise that was bestowed upon him long ago and firing on all cylinders is fantastic.

Orton so badly wanted to say "killer" or "killed" tonight and invoke his old Legend Killer persona. But man, that TV-PG shit really put a kibosh on that.

Randy Orton, Legend Destroyer. Doesn’t matter, guy is crushing it right now.

Graves said it last night at the end of Backlash.

Backlash is on the Network. I think they can get away with more.

Orton also blatantly told Edge "I'm going to fucking kill you and then kill your family." last night.

Gallows/Anderson's finisher was called the Magic Killer for their entire WWE run. Killer Kelly was in NXT UK for two years.

Going further back, Killer Kowalski was a true legend. Nowadays folks know him more since he trained HHH and Chyna.

Also, Killer Kahn famously broke Andre the Giant's leg.

You think the word "killer" is the reason they are largely forgotten? Or is it that they were wrestlers back when they weren't called superstars.

All that aside, Randy really is at the top of his game right now. I am really interested in where this goes next. If they've written off Edge for a while, I am glad they used this to bring out the best in Randy. Which of course means he will be forgotten by the writers for the next few months

In light of a regime change, I'm thinking it's beyond fair to give them the benefit of the doubt with the episode from last night but there are questions that should arise based off the episode in terms of the outlook of performers.

The first two that came to mind: Andrade and Black. It kind of seems like they're teasing a dissolving of the pairing of Vega and Andrade while Vega and Garza seems to be the new primary act for Vega. Garza has been getting more attention over the last few weeks. If that is the case, does Andrade turn or just fade away? Black was absent overall for the episode. Dude is remarkably talented and more than capable as a talker but he could be a guy the new creative doesn't "get".

When was the last time Aleister got some decent mic time? He just goes out there, does a match, and then leaves.

Somebody's gotta step up to Orton next week, yeah? Aleister should be that dude. A solid program with Randy where he comes out on top could do wonders to firmly put him on the map.

That would be good but wouldn’t fit with Orton being a legend killer again. Besides I think Aleister could still be tied up in the Mysterious stuff.

Think Big Show could potentially be Orton’s next target once he’s tangled with that giant Ninja dude.

Fair point, I suppose. There was a possible spark for Show/Orton on the RAW post-show. But I can't see anyone being overly excited about Orton/Show feuding in 2020...

I think he’ll be a large stepping stone for Orton to put him over big with possible Flair shenanigans. Could do it at ER.

What I’m hoping for is Orton/McIntyre possibly at Summerslam. That match would be sick. Claymore vs the Punt wins a lot of the marketing battle.

Yes, if the goal was to have Black come out on top. I don't think that's their goal. Their goal seems to be extracting anything they can out of Orton right now. Seems like this is eventually bubbling up to Orton and McIntyre at Summerslam.
