I still don't understand how Kairi didn't get a title match against Bayley for her last appearance. Why have her beat Bayley last week if not to set that up?

Even the way Bayley injured Kairi was lame. Ali took more punishment in his match with Lashley.
I would have rather seen a situation where Kairi loses a title match to Bayley and is approached by Shayna backstage. Shayna rubs the loss in Kairi's face by repeating what she said to Nikki at Extreme Rules, the "and even if you lose..." line. Kairi gets pissed and attacks Shayna, but then Baszler gets the better of her and takes out Kairi the same way she did Logan, by stomping her elbow on the ground. Now Asuka goes into the match against Sasha without Kairi backing her up and loses via shenanigans. Then you can do Asuka vs Shayna to get revenge for "retiring" Kairi and still leave the door open for a rematch against Sasha in a fair fight.
Other than this fluke win over Bayley, has Kairi ever had a significant singles win? She's typically been the scrawny one who makes her opponent look like ten million bucks because she bumps so well.
I think she was just really well like backstage (by Steph) and the WWE wanted to prove to her that they wanted her back, so on her last day with the company, as they were doing double tapings, they didn't want to bury her twice. This way, they've set up a story for her return. If they'd had had her lose, her eventual return wouldn't be meaningful, it'd be "Oh, the little jobber is back" I understand that WWE normally buries talent on the way out, but I smell a work.
I was fine with it given that we've been privy to knowledge that Kairi has had serious head injuries in the past year. First Charlotte, then Nia. So her getting thrown headfirst into metal doors makes sense. I'm actually surprised they didn't have Shayna be the one to force her out by doing that arm breaking stomp she did to Sara Logan and others. Maybe even go further and have this morbid scene where Nia gets involved and beats her up even more. Saying "no, I can beat up Kairi better than you!" Plus they have history from NXT, so that'd be another call back. I guess it would have been too overbooked, especially once Asuka finally made it backstage.
Speaking of, I do like that if she does come back, they could got with either/or with her and Asuka in a ready made feud if they want. If Asuka's a face, then Kairi is the heel, mad that her friend didn't save her in time. If Asuka's the heel, then she can say "I gave up my title to save you, and this is how you repay me" type deal. So I will applaud WWE in this regard.
Also, the main event with Drew and Ziggler was pretty good. It was a hard hitting, fast spectacle to be sure. Now we have Drew and Orton. While I would like Drew to retain the title a little longer, I have this feeling they're going to go with Orton for right now. Kinda would make sense if they can keep it on him until Mania and have Edge be the one to return and take it off him. If they can wait that long. And if crowds are back. There's a lot of "ifs" right now aren't there?
I wondered where Carillo was during the earlier segment. But I also wonder where the AOP and Austin Theory have gone - it's just bad storytelling / insulting to the audience to not even mention them.
I though this was a turning point/ highlight of Murphy's career. He played the indecision well, but after Seth's egging him on, he finally got to show he's at least equal to Black in the earlier segment, and his match with Carillo was really terrific - and I am not a big Carillo fan. On top of it, he removed the shirt, and got to show he's been working out - he's really chiseled but the power rangers outfit has done him no favors.
I was wondering where Theory went to as well. He joined Seth's stable not too long ago and he's already disappeared. He must have tested positive.

Austin Theory's still hanging around on the B-shows.
He and Murphy just had a great tag-team match against Ricochet and Cedric Alexander that was better than a lot of what they've been showing on the big shows lately.

I don't think she's awful, she just talks too fast and has to repeat things to fill time. And they're still having her, and others, still cutting promos like there's an audience, so that stilts things. One of the things TNA actually did well was having more "normal" talking segments.
While I'm ranting, why is it that every time I see Sasha she's getting hit in the face and knocked flat on her butt? And Bayley just cooing over her asking if she was okay? If I had the say, I would have Bayley and Sasha hunt down Shayna and attack her from behind, choke her out with their new t-shirt, and just stomp her out. Make your heels credible, not chickenshits. Not every heel has to be a coward. Bloviating, yes. And they can do that the best right now.
Shayna's pissed she got jumped and wants to fight, but Sasha says she has to earn a title shot, and they do a mini tournament to get the #1 contendership for Summerslam.

I hate everything about this Fight Club crap. From the generic hip-hop sample to the scripted fights, it's gonna be a trainwreck.

They've got Bobby Lashley, the only guy in there who's ever had a real MMA fight, doing suplexes and big, worked wrestling punches, that look like they're missing by a fucking mile.
If there's anything Bobbo should be excelling at, its RAW Fight Club. But he's been used like "just another dude" for so long, they can't even get that right.
That was was extremely scattered.
Good enough match with Crews and MVP. Kind of anticlimactic and not the kind of match that took the chance to hammer home that Crews was above The Hurt Business as a whole, but it was good to put a bow on their back and forth.
The stuff with Ruby and Liv with The IIconics was decent enough. There could be a payoff if they invest more time in Ruby and Liv if they ultimately put it all together and go after Bayley and Sasha. That's not a short-term fix so things could line up if they keep developing things.
Really sharp stuff from McIntyre and Orton. Each of their individual promos and the actual back and forth delivered a lot of good meat on the bone. Those two have been doing things incredibly well with the hands they've respectively been dealt so it's good for them to cross paths now. You've got a scenario where you can see a case where both guys can get over on the other. When you've got that and have two performers who are delivering the goods, you're setting things up for success.
The Buck stops with Pat? He's Raw's version of Adam Pierce, I guess. Go figure.
WWE, particularly Raw, is really in its pocket with finding stupid finishes to pretty entertaining women's matches. Why the hell was a DQ called when Bayley and Asuka were doing nothing related to the actual match in the ring? The whole sequencing of the segments with the four women was incredibly odd. I guess they're ducking the idea I had in mind with Shayna and Nia as a tag team and going more with Shayna as a tweener of sorts. That could be something. I did like the shoe being on the other foot with Sasha putting Bayley in matches when she didn't want to be.
The title match recap and the Rollins/Mysterio recap reeked of filling time. Rollins going after commentary was kind of interesting but it went up a notch when Joe decided to stand up for Phillips. Joe is smooth as hell and instantly credible, no matter the scenario, as someone you need to be wary of. Dominik sounds like his dad. I'll be surprised if that match actually is the end result at Summerslam. I imagine it's going to get tweaked. If they get a deal done for Mysterio, he teams with his son against Murphy and Rollins. If not, Black returns from "injury" and teams with Dominik. I'll say it again: the kid's got some good fire. The 6-1-9 looked clean too.
So Raw Underground is a hybrid of that Mick Foley bit where he said Raw needed to get gritty and the color scheme subtly changed and Russo's Brawl for All? The third hour saw cults, cage dancers, a fight club, and an apparent overdose. Wild.

Depending on how the WWE decides to handle its guys jumping from brand to brand, it sure seems like RAW Underground is 100% a tool for Matt Riddle to get super over.
I stopped watching RAW after Liv/Ruby vs IIconics. After reading this, I kind of wish I kept it on.
Don't get me wrong, it had a its fill of semi-nonsensical actions in there and fluff. Imagine the fight club but with WWE's incessant need to be overly produced with camera cuts.

AEW is the most "progressive" and "inclusive" wrestling company in the world and they literally had random women in bikinis for Fyter Fest hanging out for like 2 days for no reason.
WWE is ripping off UFC for this. UFC still has their big titty ring card girls, so it works.
I can't think of anything less hot than women dancing for no reason like that. It's shit, reminds me of those awful WCW biker shows they did.

This shit is ridiculous. Not as bad as that shit in WCW late 90's where like Jerry Flynn was fighting people in the boiler room but damn near close. Part of me wants to have patience and see where it goes. Problem is, when pro wrestling especially in the US has pulled the curtain completely back, it's impossible to pull off something like this without it making people go "No Holds Barred 2?" It's just not possible.
Saw the quick clip, they're still using the fucking camera cuts throughout. Imagine presenting a gritty underworld and still shooting it the same way, tone deaf. It's borderline unwatchable once they mess up a shot due to a bad cut away, like let the fucking shot breathe for a second. They even fucked up Edge's return! I haven't seen a full show since 'Mania and won't until the Rumble probably, it's just not an art that makes sense without the intended patrons.

I am looking forward to Drew v Randy, even more than I was looking forward to Randy v. Edge.
Randy is excelling at the arrogant prick heel role but we all know he can bring it in the ring. Drew is also at the top of his game. Not only did both guys deliver great promos that felt unscripted, the outcome of their match at SummerSlam isn't that easy to predict. We all know that plans can change at any time. They have done a great job rebuilding Randy since he was drafted to RAW - he hadn't looked nearly this dominant in several years (with the possible exception of his tearing Jeffy Hardy's ear apart, his other recent feuds were forgettable placeholder spots against Kofi, Rey, AJ, and Jinder.
I always DVR Raw but I haven’t watched a second of it in probably over a month and the mysterious new stable did hook me into fast forwarding through Raw. Long story short, not impressed and will not be tuning in next week unless the spoilers say something cool happened.
I know they are contractually obligated to put on a show for USA and Fox but does it have to be new material? Can’t they just air Best of shows until the live crowds are back? I feel like this stuff they’re airing is doing more bad than good to the overall credibility of the WWE longterm.
It should turn out that the "RAW Underground" fight club is like ten feet from the broom closet he was in, waiting for somebody to "come find him".
And he pops out of it, asking what all the noise is.
We’ll find out in two weeks how much steam this actually has. I think it had enough to create a morbid curiosity but I’m skeptical that
A) it actually generates a lot of interest to attract lapsed viewers, because that’s clearly who they’re going for.
B) it will actually carry the same mindset (whatever the heck that actually is) for the true purpose/vision they have in mind for a sustained period of time.
The sad thing is the actual stuff that you’d come to expect from an episode of Raw was actually tolerable or outright good.
I'd be shocked if they spent more than 2 weeks coming up with this. lol.
I don't know if I agree this was the worst Raw in the history of Raw but it was damn close.
After thinking about it for a bit, I think this RAW Underground could be interesting. Having Dolph in there makes me think this could be a place where random wresters come through to find their real aggressive sides. Like, have Asuka come through at some point and find her inner psycho killer that I've seen pictures of, and she nearly kills a dude. Then she leaves and we get the sense that she will murder the Golden Role Models for what they did to Kairi.
It would be a cool series of vignettes to introduce a new character or a repackaged character but as a legit thing......I don't know man.
Liv/Ruby reunited.Riott Squad break up was a complete fumble and flop. This is for the better and I hope they get a chance to shine.
RAW Underground isn't going to get me (someone who doesn't watch RAW) to watch RAW. Babatunde debuting might get me to watch his specific Youtube clip, though.

I mean MVP is a perfect talker for him, exactly like Taz with Cage.
He's doing more but it's not that great because he's basically an enforcer who cares about the 24/7 title. The group itself has potential but I'm not entirely optimistic it will shine. I put that doubt in the creative, not the performers. They (Lashley and MVP) were solid with the stuff with Crews and they've done wonders to improve their stock over the last few months. Benjamin is relatively new into the mix so he probably needs to stop dealing with the 24/7 stuff to have more clout.

Dominic getting laid out with the kendo sticks to "pay his dues" was pretty nifty. I also enjoyed the promo from Seth and the interplay with Joe at the beginning. I guess this is the best way to get the animosity in the feud over with an opponent that can't really talk yet.
Angel is acting way too over the top. Just a tad. But Zelina is fire. I'm getting a real good Trish vibe from her when she started to really get going. I'm surprised they didn't show the stuff from the Twitch stream where Bianca broke in her house. You'd think that would be something to replay since they've been known to do a replay of a replay.
As a side note, I'm seeing this preview of the Big Show sitcom and this crossover with other shows. I have to say, this level of Disney channel/NIckolodean comedy sitcom just doesn't seem to work in this day and age. I'm surprised at you Netflix. But I'm not in the demo for it, so they don't care about me. Ah, I refuse to admit I'm old. But I'll take a rerun of Perfect Strangers or Sanford & Son to what passes for sitcoms nowadays.

Seems RAW Underground will indeed be the unofficial 3rd hour, which could be the best thing they could do instead of interspersed throughout the show.

They really should have had crazed Asuka in the spot they used for Shayna, but for next week. That way, they could have had Bayley actually beat Asuka this week and turned the trope upside down for once. The Asuka/Bayley match had no interest for me since we knew the outcome going in. Then, have them gloat and well, if you can beat a dude on underground, then you can have your title match at Summerslam. Meh, they did what they needed to do to get there I guess.
Side note, I really thought they'd have Shayna go up against that big dude. That would have been interesting. But, I guess if she could beat a dude like that, then the women really would be no threat to her, so three on one vs women works, too.
Seeing Summerslam '92 was a little sad in that I realized most of the guys on the card are gone: Mr. Perfect, Roddy Piper, British Bulldog, Ultimate Warrior, Mean Gene, Hawk, Kamala (which they weirdly didn't show on the Fox sports version), the Brain. Even the Fink. Funny how Flair probably did more drugs and shit than all of them combined and is still kicking.
