I've been following RetroSoft's twitter and their development of RetroMania Arcade Wrestling. Kinda looking forward to this one.

The first wrestling game I ever played the shit out of was this one for Gameboy. WWF Superstars.

I played the fuck out of it.

Looking at the intro I just learned this was apparently a RARE game?

WWF Superstars was my favorite game for a while. The sequel game wasn't as good but I played that a lot too. I miss those days of life. It sucks getting old.

    Word.

Got that game with money my grandmother gave us kids for our good grades every year (until her favorite, my idiot cousin started failing everything so grandma cut it off so as to not make her feel bad). I got it and when we went on vacation to the beach I pretty much stayed glued to the GameBoy the whole time.

Ahhhh summer when you're 11. You can waste all the moments you want because you think they're infinite.

I might have to look into the No Mercy modding community

I'm so computer illiterate that I could never figure out how to get the mods to work. I've thought about giving it another go. My goal is to figure it out sometime before the N64 Classic is released and then figure out how to make it playable on that. Really no wrestling games have been as good as this for me ever since. There's a hack of VPW 2 though that's currently in development that's being made to work on actual hardware. He's using assets from games to build a roster with all the top guys from the '90s, as well as guys that never made it in one. It's amazing and I recommend everyone who loves N64 games look into it.

It's pretty astonishing that the best wrestling game ever is still No Mercy on the N64. Why aren't they able to improve on it, how hard can it be?

I really liked Royal Rumble on the SNES and Smackdown 1 & 2 on PS1.

Recently got 2K19 after not playing games for years and years.

Playing, it's great, but the commentary is pretty bollocks, isn't it? As in, lines that make no sense to what you're doing. 'That's got to be it' or words to that effect, 3 men in to a Royal Rumble. I expected better.

And the sign in the crowd that reads 'I can't see'. Why, is he blind? I'm guessing it was supposed to say 'The guy behind me can't see'.

In the grand scheme of things, very small points.

My favorite has always been SmackDown: SYM, fun game. I have memories of six player, multi-tiered boiler room brawls. So good. It depends on the day you ask me. I still own each one of them and play them from time to time. Good times. Overall though, AKI had the best controls of all time.

My favorite was always WWF War Zone. One of the first games I had for the PlayStation.

While the game itself doesn't fully compare to the greats, RAW 2 on the Xbox had one of the best season modes ever. I've been dying for Universe Mode to improve on it, and they're close. But it's missing the ability to assign players to certain wrestlers for backstage interactions. An example I'd like to see is if a wrestler randomly interrupts a match, you should have the option of taking control of that wrestler if it's someone you've been playing as for a while.

I definitely support the idea of releasing sequels to older games.

    Boom.
Maybe a game like The Sims where you have to travel between towns, make time for the gym to keep in shape, ensure you have some hobbies so you don't go stir crazy with the daily grind/frustration over annoying booking, manage your social media to try and bootstrap a push for yourself ala Zack Ryder, suck up to the right people to politic your way to a top spot. The more I write, the more I like this idea.
