I'm no longer putting Tom Brady nearly that high. His skills, other than reading how a defense is set and his ability to change a call on the fly, have diminished. The Pats defense was much more a reason for their success. What was most telling was that Belichek no longer wanted him (anywhere near the level he's being paid), so the Pats didn't give him an offer.
He may be the best QB ever, but Father Time is undefeated.
And this list is presumably about where things stand this season.
So I'd have him in the same tier as Garoppolo / Big Ben / Cousins at this point in Tier 3

I want to agree with 3puppies and down rank Brady in the NFL QB tier, but then I look at the offensive weapons around him and think he’s going to light it up. The strength of his game has been recognizing favourable matchups and getting the ball out before the pass rush gets to him; he hasn’t had these kinds of offensive weapons in 5-6 years (the Randy Moss era?). Evans/Godwin on the outside, Brate/Howard inside, a healthy and motivated Gronk as the #5 option when they go empty set on passing downs? I hate Brady as much as anybody, but caman...

Somebody will definitely sign him, take a chance on his talent being able to overcome his propensity for self-destruction (see: Gordon, Josh). It will be an underachieving team that needs to add a shot in the arm to its pedestrian passing game, so no I don’t rule out New England from the list of suitors.
Kirk should be on tier 2 of that list. He is a lot better than Rivers at this point.

I think Fro is pumped to see what TB12 can do with all that offense around him. Other than the one year he had Moss and Welker, or the year he had the top 2 tight ends in Gronk and the killer, he's never had so many offensive weapons.
The lack of training camp will hurt the Bucs and probably be evident in their first month or so, but Brady is like a coach on the field. He will figure it out.

For the record it’s not like Fournette is that good, but I still think he is a significant addition to a position of need. Platooning Fournette with Ronald Jones sounds a lot better to me than just leaning heavy on Jones. It’s depth and it’s a likely timeshare.
Fournette could flourish now that he’s going to be on far more high powered offense than he’s ever been on but even if he is just a league average back with some upside, that’s a welcome addition. And he caught a ton of passes last year (76) so I like that element of his game. Brady loves a good check down or screen.

I heard an interesting tidbit this morning from an ex player analyst but can't remember who, he said that one perk Fournette will likely enjoy with Brady is TB's next level knowledge of how/when to recognize and switch plays from pass to run and vice versa. This isn't probably something that was a consistent plus in Jacksonville with the net result for Fournette of now running into far fewer loaded box and disguised scenarios to snuff out a run play or to take advantage of excellent blocking scheme looks up front.
Or he's JAG (Just A Guy), trending down at a rapid rate.

I wonder what happens when we introduce the element of travel to the equation, from hot spot to hot spot. The hockey and basketball playoffs have worked to date, knock on wood, because they’ve been locked down since day one; in the case of the NHL, both Tampa Bay/New York went from one lockdown site to another.
Hypothetical situation: Are the Kansas City Chiefs, when traveling to Vegas to play the Raiders, going to fly in Saturday night for a Sunday afternoon game and fly back to KC immediately afterwards? Can you guarantee that the 80+ member traveling entourage will go from the airport to the hotel to the stadium the next day to the airport? And likewise with every other road team every weekend?
If one team has a positive test, that means it’s in the locker room and there’s more than one person who has it. That team has to get taken out of commission and the three teams they played beforehand are on notice. I know the NFL has given themselves two bye weeks to accommodate for COVID, but this has the capability to rapidly descend into chaos.

Quite different countries in terms of viral load though. MLB is the better case study, which after a rocky start leading to postponements of many games, seems to have righted the ship on that front.

Just some early season predictions. Maybe I can not be super wrong on too many of these.
- The Cowboys are going to be crazy good. Like Super Bowl good.
- Ravens are going to come back down to earth. They'll make the playoffs but they won't win the division or stomp on teams nearly the way they did last year.
- Cleveland is going to be much better. Much much better. It just wont matter because they still can't eclipse Balt and Pitt.
- The Saints will start out looking like a SB team then completely flame out by the end of the season.
- Wilson will look like fucking Superman willing the Seahawks to several wins they shouldn't get on his way to the MVP.
- The Titans will win the AFC South while still going 9-7 for the 20th year in a row.
- I don't buy the Colts. 7-9 at best.
- Mike Tomlin is going to look like a genius this year and get rid of all the sayers of nay. Leading to him coaching the Steelers for another 15 years.
- SF is going to come back to earth to some degree. But will still win an amazingly close divisional race between SF/Sea.
The Chiefs make teams look silly but I think the Texans may be a bit fucked this season.
People say this every year lol. Not saying they can't win the NFC East because they can but I don't see them as top 5 team like some do.
Why? They lost their best corner, pass rusher, and their offensive line is nowhere near as good as it used to be. And they have a new coach without a true offseason.
Why? The general thought is they overpower people with options offensively. And the coach is deferring to the play caller who stayed on board.
They had the number 1 offense last year in the regular season and still went 8-8. The defense got worse this year.
They have weapons but they don't have a top 5 QB either.
It's just something I feel in my bones.
They arguably or undoubtedly got better in coaching, so that has to amount for something.
And the banking on them improving is built on a belief that you're wrong on the last statement.

The defense is going to be below average just based off last year being middle of the road along with losing their best corner and arguably their best pass rusher. They cut Ha Ha Clinton Dix who was signed to be their starting safety and Sean Lee is on the IR again.
Or as long as Czar O'Brien is in complete control, just which ever comes first..

Why does it seem to be a general consensus that McCarthy is going to make Dak and/or the Cowboys offense better when it was also general consensus that McCarthy is the reason the Packers offense and/or Rodgers got stale and struggled? This confuses me greatly.
I'm not bending over backwards to defend the point, but its not really that asinine. That's all it really boils down to me.
