If Lawrence fulfills potential we'll have 2 top 5 QB's in our division within the next 5 years. With the other team being ready made for a playoff push again. We're going to have to be better next year to reach the playoffs. I don't think the Jags immediately make a playoff surge but they will improve. The Texans don't have the capital to improve their personnel but they under achieved this year. We'll play the Bills, Chiefs and the NFC West. Tough season coming up. Need to improve a great deal.

If the Ravens, Chiefs, Bucs and Packers win, history will say that the last 4 players to be named MVP (Rodgers being a shoe in this year) all got to the Conference Championship games. Consistency.
It does feel like a massive playoffs for Brees and Rodgers in particular. Both have all the gaudy individual records you could ask for (well, Brady will surpass Brees' yards tally next year presumably), but need that second ring to really be put in the highest of tiers. Team success will always trump individual success. One Super Bowl appearance each so far. Obviously both Hall of Fame bound but to get to another big game is vital as they near the end of their careers. Couldn't ask for a better title game if it's Saints vs. Packers, guaranteeing one of them a shot at it. But then you've got old man Brady looming with the potential to add to his many records. The NFL are just hoping the Rams don't mess up that scenario on Saturday. If they get Mahomes vs. Jackson and Brees vs. Rodgers a week on Sunday they'll be popping the champagne.
Can't wait for Bucs at Saints. The Saints deserve to be the clear favorite as they outscored the Bucs 72-26 in their 2 regular season matchups, but it won't mean a thing without a third victory. I'm hoping the Bucs get a boost with the return of Devin White from Covid and Ronald Jones from injury (although Fournette took over the lead role well enough on Saturday).
The way the Bucs let Heinicke drive down the field was a little concerning. If he did that, what will Brees/Kamara/Thomas do?
Saints a good pick here but here's hoping the Bucs pull off the upset.

gotta say, im happy with the decision. each season since the super bowl win i've been less and less happy with the coaching on this team, and this year totally zapped any investment i had. im not very high on hurts, he would disappear during the second half of games. i've thought wentz has had it rough for awhile now, with this season being a shitshow, but not solely because of him. so all the talk of wentz asking for a trade because of an unrepairable relationship with pederson made me sad. im hopeful that this move allows wentz a shot to turn it around here instead of somewhere else.
outside of coaching, i dont think howie roseman having say over personel has helped us. the city wide opinion on roseman was pretty sour when chip kelly made his power play, and he fucked it up so monumentally that it in turn made roseman into a super sympathetic figure, and within two years we won a super bowl with one of the most likeable and fun rosters we've ever had. so i think he's been riding on the good will from the chip kelly fallout and the high of the super bowl win, but there's been very little good he's done since we hoisted the lombardi. our drafting has been almost useless, free agency useless, low impact trades, we're in cap hell. pederson was always going to take the brunt and be the first to go, but roseman has a bunch of blame to shoulder, too. him still having say over personel with a new coach wont exactly inspire me.

Pederson getting canned highlights how tumultuous the NFC has been the last few years. Riverboat Ron, Dan Quinn and now Doug all gone within 4 years of getting to the Super Bowl. The Eagles have let that roster get stale so it's not just him to blame, but they haven't been nearly good enough. One missed playoffs though, pretty harsh but proactive > reactive I guess. Cracks been papered over with 9-7 finishes.

lol. yea. urban meyer seems a little sleezy but I guess it's cool he's making his first foray into the NFL. I mean, it's a big name at least. we'll see how he does. different game in the pros where you can't win with recruiting.

I think pro players will show him respect, at least initially. Not sure how his offensive scheme will hold up at the nfl level, but he's on the right side of the way things have been evolving there with spreads and tempo and the qb run game. And it couldn't be any nice for him to be so close to Gainesville and around such a soft media.
Just have to see how he handles nfl style adversity. A losing streak or an injury to Lawrence or if his brain cyst starts flaring up.

The pro game is a whole other level: the players hold the balance of power as opposed to the college game where coaches act as dictators. Not to mention the players union, which really curtails player availability. If he couldn’t handle going 8-5 at Florida, how’s he going to handle 4-12 and 4-12 in Jacksonville?
Trevor Lawrence is going to be a good one, but that franchise has many holes that must be filled.
It’s hard to dispute the guy’s success. He is usually pretty skilled at turning organizations around in a hurry. If he has his act together and his bark isn’t bigger than his bite, people will buy in. There’s only really two exceptions to the rule so we’ll see if a college coach can deliver.
Not shitting on Urban cause I think he's great but Florida and Ohio St. aren't exactly hard schools to win at.
I just wanted to see the guy come into a place with some talent already on board. None of his team building skills mean dick in the NFL. Sabin had the same problem in Miami.
Only St. Pete in Seattle seems to have found a way to merge rah rah college coach with an NFL team in the modern league.
Pete Carroll is one of the few college coaches to succeed in the post-90s NFL. Probably helps that he has prior head coaching experience in the NFL.
He didn't win only at UF and OSU. He won at perennial nobodies in Bowling Green and Utah.. then he revived Florida after Ron Zook and of course won huge at Ohio State.
Also Saban was hardly a failure in the NFL. 15-17 in just two seasons after taking over a talentless 4-12 doormat. And who knows what could have been had the Dolphins signed Drew Brees like he wanted.
Really not even sure he should be considered a rah rah PJ Fleck type either. He's seems more like a down to earth winner that dudes listen to. I don't see him as gimmicky as a Spurrier or Chip Kelly.
Ron Zook had no excuse to lose at Florida. But good points.
