I haven't seen a timekeeper take a bump in YEARS. I recall back in the early 80's, the Moon Dogs (not sure if it was Rex or Spot) in consecutive weeks, hit a ring announcer, then a timekeeper, then a ref, with their Bone - causing them to lose by DQ, but retain their tag titles. The following week, they came after TV announcer VKM to swing the bone at him, but his broadcast partner Pat Patterson, stepped in to stop the hijinks. The moon dogs were of course terrible rasslers, but they were solid heels with Lou Albano as their mouthpiece, and the fans hated them.

I think it's effective. It's similar to the Vickie Guerrero heel and just being really obnoxious.
I agree that Lana is effective in this role, but I am not looking forward to seeing her wrestle.
The only disappointing thing about Andrade/Mysterio was the fact that this company couldn't be competent enough to make this a PPV feud. These guys faced off at least 4-5 times over the course of the last year and they couldn't make more of it. The two commercials cheapened the vibe to an extent. Hopefully they have something in mind with Carrillo because he just seemed forced onto TV before they went the injury angle route.
Good on Lesnar for finally realizing he's not the only one in the world who suffers pain when taking a shot in the pills.
I would believe McIntyre had a legit shot at winning the rumble if they didn't have him harp on the fact he hasn't gotten an opportunity at a championship yet. They really lack subtlety. The match with Orton was pretty good, though.
Buddy Murphy started in NXT as a tag team guy, eventually won tag team gold there and now he's a Raw tag champ....and the other guy is forgotten. That took the piss out of an eventual AOP/Viking Raiders feud but what's done is done. VRs reign was pretty bland. Sheesh...Rollins has been a tag champion six times with five different partners. That's bonkers.
They've announced 22 of the 30 spots for the Rumble. Would presume 5-7 of those go to NXT and then the remaining go to surprises.

Yeah, I can't fault it. Changes up the usual stable trope, and leads to immediate possible dissension within the ranks as AOP protect the titles that they see as rightfully theres. Or you go the Freebird route. Either way, it's different, which is good.
The Rumble match line-up shows how stacked the actual roster is at the minute, while it's healthy (is ANYBODY of any relevance, old man Jeff Hardy aside, on the shelf at the minute?). 22 announced, with Show, Kane, Andrade, Miz, Morrison, Big E and Kofi to add if they're not doing a tag title match presumably. That would be seven former winners (Roman, Orton, Brock, Braun, Nakamura, Rollins, Mysterio), an additional seven former recognised world champions (Show, Kane, Kofi, Owens, Miz, Ziggler, Styles), seven more with top titles in NXT or TNA (Lashley, Big E, Morrison, Black, McIntyre, Joe, Andrade). I'm presuming the women's match has more NXT representation, as I can't see any spaces in the men's unless there's a tag title match taking those 4 out.
First off, the Viking Raiders didn't deserve the titles anyway. They were barely over as the WWE couldn't decide how to book them.

LOL @ Rollins and Murphy winning the tag-team titles. I haven't been down with a Rollins tag-team title run since he was in The Shield. Every other time has felt like 2 hours before the show Vince decided, "Let's have Seth win the tag-team titles tonight!"
There are certain things that don't need fucked with and that's the stable dynamic where if you have a fucking tag-team they should be the tag-team champs. Especially AOP, who were fucking awesome in NXT and have been booked like dog shit since being called up. The last thing Raw's tag division needed was another makeshift tag-team championship team with Seth Rollins.
Weird part is, this isn't Murphy's first title. It's his 3rd. But maybe they don't count the CW title despite it being on pay per views with the other brands.
Am I the only one who thinks Matt Hardy is going to stick with the WWE, and him tweeting about being nearly done is a way to fool us?

I'm impressed that it took WWE a week to fuck up a cool stable by doing some "out of the box" shit. Yep, I'll gladly be the glass half empty guy on this particular booking decision. The only positive would be that somehow this leads to AOP turning on them and winning the tag belts. I imagine this will set up Joe/Owens v. Rolllins/Murphy for the tag-team titles next week where Owens and Joe will win them......

I'm willing to let it play out, mainly because it's going to lol. It's also baked in that Vince doesn't really care about tag teams. The ruse is that Rollins is a manipulator and radically egotistical so it would make sense that what happened last night actually happened. He wanted to expand his group, so he found that option in Murphy. He placated the new guy and propped his message up by giving that guy a title. Rollins ultimately wanted the shine so he put himself in the tag situation, not the obvious tag team in the group. If it's completely ignored and doesn't circle back around, it'll definitely be a problem. An issue I have with AOP and Rollins is I really don't know why AOP decided to join Rollins in the first place. I don't think that was ever really explained.
It really wasn't. Seth said originally he had nothing to with AOP attacking KO. But then he said after the fans insinuated that he did, he said fuck it and aligned himself with AOP to spite the fans right? So why did AOP attack JUST Kevin Owens?

Same. I'd like to see where this goes. Just tired about the end of the show and Lashley always seemingly getting the 1-up on Rusev. Outside of Rusev popping up out of the cake this hasn't done anything to make me think they'll do much with Rusev. Should've ended the show with Rollins & Murphy winning the tag titles instead.
The Rusev/Lashley stuff is going exactly how I thought it would go: next to no heat for an actual match (or matches), the matches themselves aren't that good or memorable, and the gaga leading up the matches has hit its expiration date.
On one hand I want to commend the WWE for giving Rusev and Lashley an actual storyline but on the other, it's this kind of a storyline.
The problem is that the curtain has been pulled so far back that it's only believable to the completely unaware. Young kids, super casuals like my ex-gf who hit me up and was like "Are they really getting a divorce?" because she saw something shared on social media.
But as time goes on, the level of kayfabe that is needed for this storyline to actually work-even with the hideous "acting" from everyone involved-it doesn't exist. You think it was bad back in the 80's when older folks would tell me "You know it's fake right?" and being fucking depressed at 7 knowing Barbarian didn't really big boot Smash!?!? Try today where it's not just fake, but that they're all friends and take pictures on vacation together.
Pro wrestling is to the mainstream as thrash metal is to pop music. All that technique and high impact and fast paced "music" but almost no substance. And what substance there is caters to a very specific type of person. Ask Metallica how they wound up becoming one of the biggest bands period in music. It wasn't because of Hit the Lights and Blackened, it's because they slowed it way down and gave you Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters.

One thing that I've noticed with Seth Rollins is that it seems the WWE always wants him to be a champion. For the most part of his career for the last 6-7 years he's had a title of some kind. I'll even include the MITB briefcase that he had for 8 months. They'll always throwing him in random tag-teams to get the tag gold, or he'll have the World title or a midcard title to play with. I mean shit, he wouldn't even go to NXT if he wasn't the champion. So I have to assume Vince and co. were like, shit, it's been 5-6 months we need to hurry up and find a title for Seth to wear!
Idk. I want to like the decision but Seth's been in so many random tag-teams just for the fuck of it, I have a hard time getting into the idea. Especially when you have a badass team like AOP, who have for the most part been booked like assholes since joining the main roster.
They should have at least put Seth and Buddy in a few tag matches before giving them the gold. Have them show they are worthy, rather then getting a shot right out the gate.
I don't know. Buddy was getting over with the crowd-not major, but he's a good worker. I think they need to give them things that continue to piss people off, so they stay solid as true heels.
