CM Punk Dream Matches in WWE

This talk of Seth Rollins vs CM Punk has to be one of the most under-whelming "Dream Match" Possibilities in the last few years.

Why would this match have any intrique at all? It is obvious CM Punk would win. Seth winning would be the absolute most boringest option available.

With that being said, what are some actual CM Punk Dream Matches you'd like to see?




-For me, personally, CM Punk vs. The Face of WWE Roman Reigns would be compelling. Punk would claim that had he stuck around, Roman would still be in the midcard. Roman would laugh at UFC footage and call him a ham sandwich.

-I think CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan would be interesting. They could play off of Bryan's mistreatment of AJ a few years ago and the simple angle of who is the better wrestler. Crowd reactions, promos, and the work would be great.

-CM Punk challenging The Fiend would be a good one because surely neither can lose, right? Plus, Punk no-selling fear and then being steamrolled would be big news.

-Punk vs. Styles, Punk vs. Nakamura, and Punk vs. Aleister Black round out the bottom tier of options.

I actually think Punk vs. Rollins could have a very compelling build with some great mic work and dynamics to the angle, especially if they tap into the backlash against Seth on top and the CM Punk chants/hope of a return while he was away. Could do well for instigating a heel turn for Rollins and freshening him back up. I'm all for it.

I wouldn't mind, however, if he and Rollins, or Bryan, escalated the conversation for several months, reminding us how Punk was tops on the mic. Then Heyman will come out and remind Punk how terrible Punk was in backing up his claims. Show the clips of Punk saying "I'm gonna rip your face off" and Heyman proudly says "Ladies and Gentlemen, as you can see, my face is very much intact". Punk makes an attempt to attack Heyman, but gets squashed by Paul.

Him and Reigns springs to mind but I feel like WWE would be gunshy about putting Roman in against Punk now that he's finally getting cheered.

Nakamura doesn't feel like he's at Punk's level at this point but I could imagine Punk wanting to work with him.

Punk vs. AJ would be really fucking cool. Looks like they've wrestled before but it was a billion years ago.

Always down for Punk vs. Bryan. Punk vs Cena is always welcome too.

There's the obvious history with Triple H but that doesn't really interest me at this point.

Punk and Miz feels like it could really be something. Similar to what they did with Bryan, Miz can be the guy baiting Punk to get back in the ring. Miz seems like somebody Punk would hate, Punk can trash Miz on Backstage, Miz can fire back, and you build from there. Time-honored tradition of this sort of thing, Jesse Ventura with Bruno Sammartino, Jake Roberts with Randy Savage, Miz with Bryan.

Alternatively they've already got something brewing with Rollins. Rollins seems due to turn heel anyway, this would be a good way to do it.

I have to disagree that Rollins v. Punk is somehow underwhelming and wouldn't be good. There's history with them. Didn't they team up in NXT when Rollins was champ and Punk was WWE champ? Plus Rollins was the 1st guy Punk wanted in The Shield. There could be a mentor-student type story there dating back almost 10 years.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Punk v. Cena again. Punk v. Styles in WWE could be awesome. I wouldn't mind Punk teaming up with some people.

Obviously with them both as faces now it might make it difficult, but the crowd would probably cheer both guys like they did Hogan/Warrior and Austin/Rock.

At this point, rumour is Wyatt/Reigns for the Universal title on SD, Raw seems a bit more unclear though.

It's why Austin vs Hogan never happened. There's no point. If Austin won, he beat up an old guy. If Hogan won, he killed the young star.

I am not comparing either Punk or HHH to Austin or Hogan, only the rationale behind not having the match.
