    NWA Powerrr

NWA's new youtube STUDIO SHOW. A total imitation of 70s/80s territory weekly studio shows. Very cool and enjoyable. Will definitely be watching. New episodes up every Tuesday. Episode one:

I've just finished it. I watched AEW it didn't appeal, Impact doesn't appeal, WWE doesn't appeal but this does. It's real wrestling with people who act like real wrestlers, they talked like wrestlers, and the promos aren't scripted. Similar to NXT, I'd love 2 hours a week.

I was seeing this being massively praised on Twitter last night. Was going to watch NXT tonight, but may give this a watch instead.

This was a lot of fun. They crammed a hell of a lot into an hour of television. Love the throwback aesthetic and the short matches. Everyone was booked well. Will watch episode two.

I don't really care about the NWA but I do care about Kamille Brickhouse.

    Kamille

But yeah, if you're looking for an alternative this is it. Such a throwback and weirdly enough reminds me of when I was a kid.

Studio wrestling is cool and all, definitely a throwback vibe. My issue is I literally haven't paid a dime of attention to the NWA in forever. It's cool though, no hate, just haven't cared about it to really know anyone that is a staple of the promotion outside of Tim Storm, Nick Aldis, and of course Kamille Brickhouse. I think the last time I truly paid attention was during the Colt Cabana-Adam Pearce stuff.

    - Tim Storm is pretty cool. Love the "old social studies teacher is basically "Rocky"" gimmick.

    - Nick Aldis is solid. He's NWA champion, but his wife is still more famous than he is.

    - Kamille is a statuesque creature. She's looked hotter than this first episode, but she's a pretty excellent valet. I'm surprised they bumped her on the first episode.

    - James Storm is "the one that got away" from NXT. Honestly though, his ceiling is probably higher in NWA.

    - Jocehphus Brody is excellent at everything until that damn bell rings.

    - Eli Drake is some bastardized combination of Miz, The Rock, and Rob Conway. But I liked his Impact World Title run and I like him just as well here. At least in NWA, he won't be forced to do some bullshit intergender wrestling.

    - Caleb Konley has a ton of talent and a real upside. Hopefully he makes it farther than "jobber" for this new NWA.

    - The Dawsons look like the kind of territory "meat and potato" heels you'd expect from the NWA.

    - Wild Card - The NWA tag-team champions - Look indie as Hell, but they've got a good, solid upside. Programming them with Homicide and Eddie Kingston is an interesting idea.

NWA Powerrr was my favorite wrestling show this week.

    AEW #2, NXT #3, RAW #4, SD #6

I didn't even watch Impact, but it gets the 5 slot

I don't recall ever being "generally sexist".

Also, not liking intergender wrestling doesn't make me a "scummer". It just makes me someone with taste. Divisions and title belts exist for a reason. Let the dudes wrestle the dudes, the women wrestle the women, the tag-teams wrestle each other, and the cruiserweights wrestle the cruiserweights. Be the best in your own division, but I don't need to see a woman beating up a guy six inches taller than her and 100 pounds heavier.

Men shouldn't be wrestling women, and women should never hold a men's championship for any reason.

Intergender wrestling for the most part is super corny but it's all preference. For the most part, it's almost impossible to suspend belief unless physically they stack up somewhat equally. Chyna and Nia Jax or even Beth Phoenix for example....

I mean, if Sasha Banks was a skilled martial artist and she did some Cynthia Rothrock shit to Shinsuke Nakamura, maybe I'd buy into it more. Because we see women beat the shit out of men all the time in movies, so I guess it depends on how far you want your belief suspended when watching pro wrestling.

I can't suspend belief even for them. I'm a little dude. I'm 5'6 and weigh 160, and I'd beat the fuck out of Chyna (especially now lol), Nia, and Beth.

Hey, there are plenty of people who look at men the same way. A lot of people have a hard time believing people like Finn Balor and Kofi Kingston have a fighting chance in the fantasy world of pro wrestling against guys like Strowman and Lesnar. I remember wondering how the fuck were they going to truly pull off Floyd Mayweather v. Big Show lol. It was ridiculous.

Also, add me to the list of people who didn’t know Brad (?) Lattimer, of Wild Card, was actually Bram, formerly of Impact Wrestling.

Man I thought that dude was blacklisted from the business lol. Didn't he have a couple run ins with abusing women? I know he was married to Charlotte and they slugged it out. Thought there was another story when he was in TNA AFTER the Charlotte situation.

The inherent superiority of the studio show format is stunning. If you told me about a wrestling show and told me the guys they have were going to be the top stars, I would not be excited. But everyone comes across great in this format.

Love Trevor Murdoch in this role. He was made for this show.

Enjoyed Aron Stevens' promo too. He should work well on a show where he can talk a lot.

Friend of a friend was seeing him and by all accounts he was the same with her. Seems a pretty shit wrestler and human being from what I've seen. Hell of a look though.

Mr. Kennedy though, that guy just flat out bores me.

Murdoch as a singles wrestler does nothing for me. Cade and Murdoch are in my top 5 favorite tag teams, but since Cade is dead I really don't care for Murdoch. Not only that, but his gimmick is about as streotypical as you can get. Only an Asian cowboy named Jimmy Wang Yang was worse off the top of my head.

Stereotypical or not, a guy with the last name "Murdoch", who looks like that could only get over in the NWA.

I'd rather him be himself and wrestle like Dicky than be "Jesse James Holliday" or whatever the Hell TNA tried to name him.

Well I watched the first episode tonight and thought it was brilliant. Seemed like a proper throwback to 80s wrestling, love the interviews before the matches, love the studio feel, commentary was great, wrestling was good, no overelaborate matches, just fun quick hard hitting matches. Good story build on it and love the spoof infomercials.

Gonna watch episode 2 tomorrow but this is right up my street.

I haven't had time to watch the second episode yet, but I dig what I've seen so far. It's fun. Aldis fits the role well. It's like 1970s wrestling with new age stars, and I like the enthusiasm and passion. What entertains me more is the bingo feel from MLW and now NWA. The snazzier stuff is taken up by AEW for me now.

Second episode was awesome as well. Best wrestling show Ive watched the last two weeks (albeir I only watch this, AEW and NXT). Still though.

Looking forward to Storm v Drake down the line. Magnus is a good champion, everyone is solid as hell on the mic and I cant wait to get me tome waffles and tyre irons.

NWA Powerrr is old-school TV studio wrestling.

MLW is like if WCW was still around, but every show was just WCW Saturday Night.

Austin Aries showed up on MLW a couple weekends ago and he looks like he's skipped every arm day since he quit Impact. He looks like he's contracted some kind of wasting virus and he's just drying up from the inside. Dude looks like a hobo with buggy whip arms. Its pretty bad.

    ...

Oh... uhh... NWA... right... Kamille is hot.

NWA Into the Fire selling out in 3 hours is pretty great news for the wrestling industry.

PPV announced for december 14. very interested to see how it plays out. the big positive of this show is the format, which is very much not a PPV format. still excited for it.

Between Marti Belle on Powerrr and Mia Yim on NXT, the ex-Dollhouse girls have been doing surprisingly well.

So, turns out some SJW-y, bitchy twat of a cunt dug up something Cornette said on Twitter about a guy who ran his own company and did his own ring announcing looking like a fat slob and not wearing a suit. Corny said, among other things, that the guy should be "hung in the parking lot" for not, at least, wearing a tie.

This was rough shit by Corny. But, it was also said like three years ago. And he was clearly exaggerating for comedic effect.

But the NWA have "spoken" to Jimbo and have been reassured he won't be telling anyone else to kill themselves. The "NWA doesn't support suicide".

So... apparently.... all those times Ric Flair and Arn Anderson told me to run my car in the garage until I go to forever sleep were just in my head? I knew I needed actual medicine instead of just Tic-Tacs and Valium.

Yeah sadly this is what some people this side of the world thrive on. They don't even care about anything other than "Hey I bet this will get me some likes!"

It's times like these where I wish we knew the home addresses of some of these "whistle blowers" lol. I'd beat the fuck out of so many people, for free.

Aron Rex shouldn't be allowed to wear those flesh colored/nude trunks again. I've been having nightmares of a naked Damien Sandow since I saw that match. And I just watched it five minutes ago. And I haven't been to sleep yet...

So Power was uploaded with this bit of Jim Cornette commentary:

“Trevor Murdoch is the only person who can strap a bucket of fried chicken to his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia.”
They pulled the episode to edit it out.

    Aldis has tweeted:

I'm sorry for the inappropriate remarks and am glad to see they have been promptly edited out. I hope this is the first and last time an episode of #NWAPowerrr is overshadowed by something like this.

    My two cents:

“This is no way speaking on behalf of the NWA, I am absolutely speaking for myself: I thought the comment was in poor taste and unnecessary. I totally understand why it caused many to be upset. It was a lack of judgment or sensitivity. I have worked really hard along with many others on this team to make this brand mean something again and this is not how I want NWA to be trending.”

For what it's worth, I don't think Cornette was being racist. It's an old line he's used before, from back when the famines were still fresh in everyone's minds. It is outdated and empty-headed though.

What I find more concerning is that it was left in post-production. You know what you're gonna get with Cornette, he's going to cross the line on occasion and you need to be ready for that. The fact the production staff and editing team heard that and thought nothing of it is what is sounding alarm bells for me.

Indeed, the world has gone soft. But Jim can't believe that so... he does this to himself. Over and over again.

His commentary will be missed, but Jesus, Jim. Listen to yourself sometimes.

Right-o. I don't believe Jim's a racist, but he has had a tendency to say racist things. When I heard what he said from the live broadcast, I was like... "Of all the things to get Trevor's toughness over, why the fuck would you say that?" He could have said (off the top of my head) Trevor could carry a log to the top of Mt Everest if it meant there was a bucket of chicken at the top.

I do believe he knows how quickly people get offended these days, but he keeps skimming passed the sun and this time he's brought it in for a landing. He'd recently dealt w/ backlash for making comments concerning Sonny Kiss. Not racist or even homophobic, but it's just one experience on a pile of other experiences where he should've taken note that the crowds these days are going to get offended no matter what.

I can't imagine what he was thinking when he said it. If I was involved w/ this show, I'd have to tell him that he forced this on himself. Now that the landscape has changed w/ NWA and AEW and NXT blossoming into beautiful islands... I seriously doubt another one will sprout and bring him on board.

Yeah AEW for one doesn't need ANOTHER old southern announcer from the 90's Monday Night Wars. For two, he would never work for them because he hates 90% of the roster, especially the Bucks and Omega who I swear the only people he hates more than them is Vince Russo and Joey Ryan.

If you close your eyes and pretend it's the era that this show looks like it came from, it's just another line. I said this in the Ramble thread, you change the color of JC from white to black and it's hilarious. You change fried chicken to ribs and you're straight. Shit even then some white dude will probably try to say only black folks like ribs and now that's offensive.

if he would have sand "a parcel of sandwiches through a group of hungry people" people would say he is Poor Shaming, or being Elitist because he has food and others don't.

It's stupid, laughable, and 'people' just want to see other people that they disagree with, be punished.

People can have whatever opinion they want, it's called freedom. To say that Ethiopians are starving and hungry, is accurate. It's also not hate speech. It's also not derogatory in any way.

The bucket of fried chicken, I can see how that is construed as racist.

If he would have said Ice Cream, you'd be mad at something.

If you don't like it, move on.

Black Lives Matter is racist because it's saying that Whites, Mexicans, Everyone else doesn't matter. It's implied. You can't argue with my opinion, because BLM offends me.

If you say I shouldn't be offended by that, then you are part of the problem. (this is sarcasm for all of the 'inclusive' people here)

See what retarded idiocy has done to our culture?

Black people are good at basketball is Racist.
Asians are good at math is Racist.

Not all racism is bad or offensive. And not everything Racial is Racist.

    Fuck.

    Yes.

Like I said..if you say 'you are Asian, of course you are good at math'. That is a racist statement. But it is not an insult. Therefore it is not bad.

Nope, Racism is when you look down on a race and believe yours to be better. If your complimenting them it isnt racism, its sterotyping theor race which is a different thing all together.

I don't think it was racist, but I can see why people think it was. I see it more as a poor people joke.

    Fuck.
This is the deciding factor. He could have said ice cream, jello, whoppers, bagels, and nobody would have said anything.

Great joke just the wrong person said it. Like I said, you have Chris Rock or Dave Chappelle say those exact same words and we'd be like "That's funny...Ethopia is played out but still funny"

People will get over it. By next week it'll just be another bad joke.

The best part is, it's a white guy commenting on another white guy. And racism still gets involved

Tonight's show sucked. The only good thing was seeing them damn Dawson's reading Shakespeare....and Eli Drake's promo.

I guess they needed another week to edit Corny off the program.

So, with Corny out as announcer, who else wants to see good 'ol "Dirty" Dutch Mantell take over?

Hell, my dream announcer would be Larry Zybyszko. I always thought he was underrated and he's got a great voice.

Definitely a solid commentator back in the day. I don't want to speak ill of the man but the interviews I've heard him do in the last 5+ years sounds like he's dealing with some health issues so idk if he'd even be down. It would be cool though.

    Stu Barrett on Commentary.

Why do I think Tim Storm will be the Ref of the third fall between James Storm and Nick Aldis. Then Tim screwing over Nick, and James giving Tim a Title shot later on.

Solid episode. Marked out just a little when Corny jumped into the ring to celebrate R&R's 9th Title win.

Let the heat die down, go pick up Trevor Murdoch from Ethiopia and have some big, bad heel beat Stu Bennett’s ass before the pay-per-view. Bada-boom, Corny comes back for commentary duty with a provision that says if he “offends anyone at all” he’ll be fired immediately.

Corny just needs some time to cool off. By the time Into The Fire rolls around all the pussy bitch ass SJW cunts that Cornette offended will have found something else to go cry about.
