There's no doubt Tyson still has KO power. And from what I've been hearing/reading, some people are getting excited at the thought of Mike getting back in the ring. I honestly do believe if Tyson fought Holyfield in some glorified exhibition match on PPV, i think it could hit a million buys. The match would probably be boring as fuck but still.

The thing I see with Tyson, which clearly came across on TV, is that he's probably less controlled or given more free reign on TV. That's probably not a good thing and can distort a message that you're trying to present. Jericho was trying to deliver a strong promo but Tyson was kind of just all over the place with what he was trying to do.

You can definitely tell the ones in this conversation who are apparently oblivious to anything BUT pro wrestling.

Mike Tyson for one is and always be a top draw. Show me any proof he's not and I'll gladly accept that proof.

For two, his name is all over the fucking place right now so if you think AEW is somehow late to the party think again. You have the most famous boxer on the fucking planet headlining every major website. He's always going to be relevant because he's Mike Tyson.

The truth is, the people saying Tyson isn't this or that are the same people who know maybe 1 active boxer today IF THAT.

Tyson right now could draw at the very least 800k ppv buys if he came back. He would sell out any arena. This is HUGE for AEW. I'm not saying it'll do the same for them as it for WWF back in 1998 because they don't have someone as red hot as Stone Cold on their roster so yeah let's put some fucking respect on Tyson's name.

    ^ This

He's literally been all over the sports news the past few weeks with his training videos and the rumored comeback. If this was 10 years ago when he was more out of shape you could almost say ok he's at a low ebb but right now? This is a hot ticket

he was being rumored for a fight with tyson fury, which obviously isn't going to happen, but shows he is still pretty relevant.

Tyson would get destroyed to be honest, lol. He was already well past his best at 38, lol. What makes everyone think he's going to beat guys in their prime at 53? I think some people are getting a little too excited in hoping the Tyson at 23 is going to come back. Ain't gonna happen. But if he came back and fought i would most definitely watch it though lol. If he does come back for a fight, i hope it's someone around his age.

Of course. It'll just be interesting to see if that translates to more eyeballs tuning into AEW on a steady and consistent basis. I think it's possible but I don't think it's likely.

Minus the Tyson stuff, this was an amazing episode of wrestling. This show is heads and shoulders above anything that WWE is doing. Love the FTR stuff, Cassidy is my spirit animal, love new heel girl, Brit's Conspiracy board and Cody's promo. Moxley on commentary was great. Cage needs Taz. I want an Inner Circle shirt.

That was my only problem with the segment. Tyson was just doing his thing which hurt the flow of Jericho's promo.

cage needs taz but taz needs to learn how to cut a promo again. he couldn't even cut his own catchphrase correctly

It was an awful ending segment because of Tyson, which is a real shame because it will be the highest viewed segment in AEW history, I'd imagine.

Struggling to get his t-shirt was the final straw really, wasn't it. Even Jericho couldn't save it.

Still, it's Tyson and that's huge enough, I guess.

The rest of Dynamite was good, overall.

Orange Cassidy saves this show. I also noticed a conspicuously blue haired woman just off to the side. Further confirming my suspicion that Leva Bates is working behind the scenes.

Also Heyman would be putting the wrestler over. Don't get me wrong, Jake can still cut a one of a kind promo and really get...himself...over. But what Archer needs is a Heyman.

    First time poster here!

I think Dynamite is starting to get back to its best personally after a little dip shortly after going behind closed doors.

I said after double or nothing how impressed I was with Jungle boy, and this match with Cody has done him no harm at all. Really intrigued to see how far he could potentially go.

Also happy to see Jimmy Havoc being used more.

That Cody/Jungle Boy match was excellent. Helped both guys get some more momentum behind their match work. Specifically Cody, who's had a bit of a dip since being the MOTN machine early on. Jungle Boy already has plenty of clout from that match with MJF. I can't wait to see more of his growth. He's showing a lot of grit and toughness, too, which helps counter-balance his boy-ish look.

Also thought Colt had a good jaunt with Jericho. It feels like Colt is getting the chance for a potential rebirth, where he can be the funny guy that can seriously go in the ring like he was in early ROH or NWA Hollywood. I wasn't exactly asking for it, but it's been a pleasant surprise how much they're utilizing him despite being on the sidelines.

Taz had a much better promo this week, I thought, and I think this pairing can work out. As long as Taz keeps up the intensity and keeps using it to put over Brian Cage, I can really get into this pairing. Brian Cage seeming to stick to his power moves rather than the high-flying will only help improve my experience in particular. Mox still feels right as champion whenever he grabs that mic.

I hope Guevara being Jericho's vocalist becomes a weekly thing.

Also echo everyone's thoughts on Cody/Jungle Boy, a great main-event. Jungle Boy will probably get a title run of some sort and maybe even MJF's ring but keep the chase and slow buikd up for now.

Loved Schiavone turning up on the Britt vignette.

Good show overall. Didn’t expect the main event to play out like it did, with the blood and Cody’s aggressiveness. Didn’t really fit for me. That said, very good match.

Is it just me or does Dasha look really uncomfortable doing ring announcing?

She definitely seems really nervous. JR constantly kind of patronizing her -- "Great job, young lady." "There you go, Dasha!" -- from the booth is kind of off-putting, too.

It was only his first defense, so I thought it was a bit too soon to see blood. As long as it's not a regular occurrence I don't mind too much.

I agree, but it's almost to the point where if Cody is having a match that isn't an exhibition, he's going to bleed, and I don't want the effect to be diminished.

They usually bleed because of pre-existing cuts so the more the merrier...

This seems strong. I don't think I remember you ever having such strong negative opinions about Cody. What's this based on?

Oh just tallying up all the hypocritical shit he says and how ignorant he comes across when doing the same shit he chastises the WWE over. Talking shit about how WWE doesn't look out for the talent's health yet this fool is bleeding all over the fucking place, having chairshots to the head go unprotected every week.

Talks shit about how people are booked yet look at him....Booked himself to win the TV title because...? Let's not forget how much shit he talked about the 24/7 title, joking about legendary Mick Foley having to be part of it....yet did he look at his TV Title, or the fact he had Iron Mike out there making an ass of himself lol.....

They had that intro not too long ago, I'd say maybe a month ago where he's at the control center doing this voiceover and I'm like dude, you took a sledgehammer to Trips' throne without realizing you're the same guy just younger.

I'll believe Cody is HHH when he gives the crossroads to Pineapple Pete at Double or Nothing, lays on the mat for an hour, then covers Pete and wins.

I'll give Cody props for at least trying to make his matches seem realistic.

I mean, yeah, in a face vs. face match against an underneath guy, Cody never "needed" to bleed, but think about it; Wouldn't it have looked kind of ridiculous for Cody to full-force headbutt a wall and not come back bleeding? Its unnecessary, but the reasoning is still sound.

Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss are a modern day Thelma and Louise.

    Except they don’t rob banks.

But I still want to see them drive off a cliff together.

I think I remember hearing something from either AEW's Twitter or Cody's that, for the TNT Title, they were going to ignore the ranking system in favor of lining up a series of weekly challengers that the "matchmaker" -- who I think is meant to be Tony Khan, approves of.

Which is why Mark Quen - A tag-team guy whose team disappeared for like two months during the Coronavirus and who isn't anywhere near a regular singles guy, got a shot.

    -

What's more galling to me is that, because ... err... because! Dustin and QT Marshal are getting a tag-team title shot completely at random, despite limited success as any sort of a team.

That's the weird one. If you're going to use rankings, at least do something to explain it.

FTR has put on some lbs since being off, but they looked really good in the ring.

Penelope has gotten better over the last few months so it’s good to see more of her (obviously) and a push. The segment with Britt seemed like a waste and was just a random excuse to have her on TV. Meh.

Moxley is still cool on the mic but I think he’s losing some steam. The Allin segment was weird in the sense he’s not cleared but he’s putting himself in more risk by doing his skateboarding haha.

I think the problem with Moxley is that he's a bonafide star and there aren't that many established guys that he can face. I love me some Brian Cage, but just like with Lee, Mox needs an opponent so they have to rush Cage into the title picture instead of building him up for a few months. Moxley needs a hot feud that can last over the summer, but I don't know who can step up. This makes a strong case for stretching out the Jericho feud longer.

Thought the same about Allin. I still don't get what that spot was in the ladder match. He just let Cage throw him wildly out of the ring. What a nutjob, lol.

Britt Baker dodged a bullet with her injury but it appears Kris Statlander didn't. She suffered a knee injury on the dive to the outside on last week's Dynamite. She revealed it was a torn ACL, so she will be out of action for quite some time.

I make a lot of fun of Kris Statlander for her goofy gimmick and her occasionally sloppy wrestling, but yeah, that sucks.

Middle of a world ending global pandemic and now she's out of work for several months.

Maybe she could pull a Tessa Blanchard and sell foot pics on an Onlyfans account to make some extra money. That's something she could do that wouldn't even require her to stand up.

Oh yeah... its time once again, for everybody to come aboard The AEW Dynamite Express! Its Wednesday night, on TNT -- Its almost time to light the wick, burn that candle at both ends and watch the wax puddle on the floor. The heat is sweltering inside and out, and its time for another Coronavirus-controlled burning banger, brought to you by those cosplay cosmonauts, those whacked-out warriors, those out-of-this-world talents so alien to us, we never know what they're going to bring back to Earth via our TV screens -- Its time, ladies and gentlemen and everyone else in between -- FOR AEW WEDNESDAY NIGHT....

    - We're live and in living color, with those cults of personality AEW calls its wrestlers, from Daily's Place in lovely -- and recently re-closed -- Orlando, Florida! And tonight we'll see...

    - For The AEW Tag-Team Titles -- "What Do You Do With A Drunken Cowboy?" "Hangman" Adam Page and Kenny "Twinkle Toes McFinger Bang" Omega (C) vs. The Natural Nightmares - Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall

    - Le Sex Gods - Chris "Judas In My Mind" Jericho and Sammy "New Eddie Guerrero?" Guevara vs. The Ambiguously Gay Best Friends - Chuck "Hatchet Headed Fuck Knuckle" Taylor and Trent? No Last Name Given -- If The Best Friends lose, Jericho and Guevara become the new tag-team title Number 1 Contenders.

For The AEW TNT Championship -- Cody Rhodes vs. A Mystery Opponent -- Who will it be? Cody's longtime rival MJF? A former WWE competitor? Andre The Giant? Mr T? Who knows?!!!

    - In more thrilling tag-team action - The Young Bucks vs. Kip "Not The Only Kip On This Episode" Sabian and Jimmy "Immune To The Coronavirus Due To His Many Other Infectious Diseases" Havoc.

    - In a grudge match -- MJF takes on "The Ass Man" Billy "Badass" "The One" Gunn

    - Anna Jay is in action!

“I wanna be a character. I want to put on a show.”

    Oh... for fuck sake.

How about “I’m a fucking badass athlete. I’m a Bulldogs fan and I’ll dog your ass until I win. When I’m out there, this show’s all about me.”

Enough of this “It’s all just a show” bullshit.

Man, I was definitely predicting that Le Sex Gods were going to wind up winning that match and wrestling for the tag-team titles at Fyter Fest.

But then I remembered it was a TV special and not a pay-per-view. So yeah, it makes sense to save a marquee match like Jericho and Guevara vs. Omega and Page for an actual pay-per-view event. As much as I hate to say it, because I can't stand Orange Cassidy or Chuck Taylor, The Best Friends have actually garnered some real, solid momentum. I don't think for one second they'll win the titles, but they'll have a solid match with Omega and Page as far as TV matches go.

If they're actually going to lean into the "Orange Cassidy is pissed and he's trying!!!" thing, then a Jericho/Cassidy match should be fun. I see it going 8 minutes, Cassidy beats the shit out of Jericho for 99% of it, low blow or a baseball bat shot, Judas Effect, and Jericho wins. If Jericho is going to be playing in the shallow end of the pool with the underneath dorks, he at least needs to look like a strong swimmer at the end of it.

Rhodes/Starks was good fun. Of the three TNT Championship matches, this was the least compelling. Ricky Starks is a talented kid, but we already have a Sammy Guevara -- A good looking, cocky, high-flying, young Hispanic guy. It wasn't bad, but booking Cody against a guy who hasn't ever been part of the company kind of gives away the finish. Especially because they've already been heating up Rhodes/Hager. Which should be a barn burner.

The Young Bucks/Superbad Squad was... meh? Typical Young Bucks shit. Whatever. The running gag of Jimmy Havoc constantly trying to bludgeon or decapitate his opponents with different tools is funny, but it sure makes him look like kind of an idiot when he gets caught almost every time.

The Natural Nightmares/Drinky Cowboy And Twinkle Toes McGee was solid. Dustin, Page, and QT are all three good enough to hold a match together while Omega does "Omega stuff".

The Butcher And The Blade still looked like two sailors on shore leave. Ditch the all white outfits, guys.

Anna Jay joining The Dark Order...? Who cares? She's been featured twice and this was the only time they gave her a vignette or any kind of personality. And they muddled things by jobbing her to Value Village Rosemary.

Britt Baker is the best female promo in the industry right now. Its a shame she's injured. "Friendship time-out".

Oh yeah, no matter what they do, AEW can't make me care about Big Swole.

I don't care how many times they make her parody The Undertaker.

Anna Jay seems to be getting quite a bit of attention for someone who didn't seem to be on the radar until they went to QT's gym in Atlanta. She started as a standout jobber, then she got a profile before jobbing to a gimmick act, and now she's being teased for joining The Dark Order. It's certainly a series of events but if it amounts to anything remains to be seen.

Not sure if the time for MJF was best utilized this week. He probably didn't need to be put into a position where he needed as much help as he got to beat, of all people, Billy [redacted].

Good to see they move the TNT Championship matches out of the main event. Seemed overindulgent to constantly have it in the main event against people not exactly seen as main event people.

Curious to see how much stalling they plan to go through before they actually get to FTR and The Bucks.

Goes without saying it sucks Britt is hurt but they're doing a nice job with making her minutes count when she's on TV.

Le Sex Gods are easily going to be tag champions at some point. It's just a matter of how they want to execute that. Jericho/OC is going to be good. It'll go through the spectrum of emotions in the build and the match. Something good for Jericho to do to fill time and provide a good spotlight for OC.

Decent show this week. I’m liking FTR as tweeners, I don’t think I’ve seen them hit their finishing move properly, it’s a bit shit now.

Probably because they keep doing it on the Butcher who's twice their size.

He said something about wanting to rape her. He saw her at a WWE event and i guess was trying to express how hot she was. Poor choice of words.

What he said was wrong and I'm not backing him up, but if Sasha said the same thing about Sammy would this have blown up so big? Probably not.

If Sasha said "i dont care if he wants it or not, I would fuck Sammy G." nobody would bat an eye.

This should be a non story. Remember, there are actual abusers out there

i actually think it's a reasonable "double standard" that sasha making a comment like that about sammy would probably be much less of a big deal, since a man is genuinely a threat to a woman but a woman isn't genuinely a threat to a man. but the point is, it's entirely obvious sammy's comment was just an attempt at raunchy humor in very bad taste. since it's become an issue, it would be appropriate to maybe have him off TV for a week or two and "strongly suggest" he make a voluntary donation of a reasonable sum to a women-based charity as a token of him recognizing he said something he shouldn't. no reason for it to be any more than that.

Kendra Lust just Tweeted out that she wants to eat out Sasha Banks and @-ed her.

Making unwanted sexual advances on someone, in this case even tagging them in a Tweet is pretty bad. When you're a woman and you're propositioning another woman, who isn't gay? Yeah... not cool.

Sammy G said one stupid thing about Sasha Banks like 4 years ago on a podcast probably 15 people heard. And he's being dragged to Hell for it.

... yeah.. let's talk about those double standards, kids.

In a vacuum it's a harsh punishment, as he's not done it while on the books, it wasn't a direct action or threat and he's made his apologies both to the public and more importantly the addressed. But, you can't go around on podcasts saying you would rape somebody. It is an interesting grey area though. In films, obviously, characters are able to say anything to anybody as it's fiction and vocabulary creates the narrative for the film. Same with music. Creative license. So when a wrestler goes on a podcast, is he still presumed in character? It's a weird industry where guys continue their characters in the so called real world. Leonardo DiCaprio isn't playing Jordan Belfort on twitter, but Rebecca Knox does play Becky Lynch on hers. Where is the line in wrestling? At what point do they turn it off?

It's why half of these people are utter lunatics. It's never ending method acting. Look at Hulk Hogan. That cunt has no fucking idea who Terry Bollea is. Not a scooby. He's Hulk Hogan from the time he puts his socks on to the time he takes them off. He got a paycheck for saying in court that Hulk Hogan's cock is bigger than Terry Bollea's! It's obscene. I'm working my gimmick, bro. Joey Ryan's probably worked himself into molesting people based on the wrestling character he's created. You have to completely deconstruct this ideal of kayfabe to eradicate it, really. No shoot names on camera, no worked names off it. Your existence as that character begins and ends with the curtain. If you're on a podcast or twitter, no ambiguity, your views are your own and you live or die with them.

Most wrestlers start when they're very young too, 15, 16. Essentially, by law and by reality, malleable children. They're creating this wrestling character that consumes them before adulthood. How do you separate from it when you don't know who you are yet? It's such a psychological burden on a young person's brain, knowing that this extension of you is the person you have to project to advance in that line of work. You're working with adults who are psychologically affected from years of this, and you look up to them. If you're looking at the correlation between wrestlers and young girls, if you're starting wrestling young you're not getting that vital period in your life where you're, well, growing up. So from a structural level, there has to be an age limit to this shit, no questions asked. I wouldn't be training anybody under the age of 21. That would now be illegal. Encourage them to take acting classes or gymnastics, but professional wrestling absolutely not. Go and be you for the first part of adulthood, so you know who you is when the camera turns off.

I don't know too many wrestlers, even in character, who'd willingly and openly say they'd rape a woman.

Sammy G wasn't in character. He wasn't "working". He's just a kid who said something stupid that came back to bite him in the ass.

That's my point, they're always, to a point, "working". The lines between reality and character get blurred within the bizarre profession that is wrestling. In Sammy's case yeah, likely the naive use of language when you're young. I can't think of anybody that's exempt from that, truthfully. The wrestling industry, it's real/fake structure and young indoctrination has created a massive bunch of weird, socially deplorable human beings though. It's structure can't hide behind "a few bad apples". There's huge flaws in the matrix that facilitate such persistent levels of misconduct.

I think, with Sammy, the reaction is fair enough. He shouldn't be cancelled, but he should be punished. Not necessarily for him, but to set an example for younger people that using language like that can be hurtful and has consequences. It doesn't make him a bad guy, but if it can serve to make people more aware of their words and actions then it's a good thing. I do hate the witch hunt that the boy has been through considering he's shown willing to be better. Not denied it, not said he didn't see the connection between the language, not said he was playing his role as an edgelord, just completely owned it. Not like these weirdos that come out with non apologies like Will Ospreay.

I thought Becky Lynch's real name was Rebecca Quinn.

I doubt AEW is even punishing Sammy. They'll just keep him off TV for 2 -4 weeks, just to get the Twitter hounds off their backs. Just a slap on the wrist to Sammy.

i'd support a minimum age of 18 to be trained but definitely not 21. there shouldn't be further age-based restrictions on what people want to do once they're adults.

Jon Moxley and QT Marshall both are inactive tonight, due to potential contact with COVID-19.

SCU gets the call to sub in for QT & Dustin.

Instead of Moxley being "in action," Brian Cage will be wrestling someone instead.
