Well looks like the main event of Triplemania is Omega vs Andrade so that's how AAA gets their belt back. When Kenny eventually beats Akiyama for the KO-D title he'll drop it to either Takeshita or Endo. I have no clue who is winning the TNA title from him though.\

Also Covid fucking up the belt collector gimmick with him dropping the Mexican belt before he wins the Japanese one.

AAA is being sued by AAA so there won't be a legal stream of the match by the way

Naw he did say that but I think he meant in the WWE. He said Kingston is the best in the business right now.

At some point Antonio Pena Promotions sold all rights for AAA trademarks outside of Mexico to Lucha Libre FMV yet still kept doing business outside of Mexico. So Lucha Libre FMV is suing. It will probably end with a settlement where Antonio Pena Promotions buys everything back.

That's why you never see Omega with the AAA Title belt outside of AAA shows in Mexico.

Ohhhh ok I thought you meant to say AEW sued AAA or vice versa lol. I was like, what does AAA have to do with AEW Dynamite and what match was supposed to go down? My bad.

It'll be record breaking for AEW. I actually expect it to get at least a 1.7 This feud has been going on for awhile, especially if you start it when MJF joined the Inner Circle. This isn't even the payoff. Look at nWo v. WCW at War Games. That was just the beginning of a 3-4 year long feud and it wonders for WCW.

The rest of the card is looking stellar. I've seen some of the matches announced for WrestleMania Backlash (WTF kind of name is that Vince??) and let's be honest.....TK and his booking team have surpassed Vince like we all knew he would. Everyone kept saying wait until Vince is gone, why? Just turn on AEW.

mlw is a great company but they couldn’t afford MJF, much less Bryan Danielson.

Everything Luchasaurus does looks stiff (not in a good way) and janky. Jungle Boy should be a singles star.

the match was awesome until everyone was in the ring. then it was still really good but kind of fell apart. jericho/mjf ending segment on top was strong until the anti-climactic ending. aew really need to stop killing these spots by showing the obvious crash pad landings.

would work much better as a PPV match. three ad breaks during it, with the second batch losing picture in picture, so we come back to a ring all torn up like wtf happened. too much stalling and padding waiting for ad breaks to end. mjf should've just pushed jericho off as soon as they surrendered instead of waiting. was a weak looking bump, regardless.

still a super fun match and atmosphere. super excited for a full capacity crowd for double or nothing.

The 1991 and 1992 WCW ones are legit great. The ROH vs CZW Cage of Death might be the best version of this kind of match. Other than that I can take or leave this gimmick.

I think one of the chants was "we want guts."

It also seemed like Jericho told MJF to milk it for the camera before pushing him and that just made his fall look even lamer then it would have if he did it right away.

I mean it's not an over-reaction in a way because.. and I don't want folk to die from falls.. but this ending plus the "explosion" ending to the other show really puts a dint into the "PPVs". Don't build up to something and then wiff on it. They've done that twice now.

My problem wasn't the pads, and I may be completely wrong on this, but they clearly replaced that bit of the stage and it was the cardboard/board painted to look like the metal? Either use "metal" (like the trash cans) that's heavily malleable.. or don't. Don't pretend it's metal and forget to paint the underside of it.

They'd have done better to put the crashpad at least out of sight (so another 2ft down) a bit like WWE do, so at least the impact you go "holyshit!" and then find out there's a pad... and not "oh.. he's landed on a cardboard bed..".

It just takes away from the match, and the "PPV", when you end on shit like that.

    * I've wrote PPV but appreciate they're TV matches... but the build is arguably to set it up as a PPV-like event

agreed. multiple moves done inside the ring over the course of the night felt more impactful than the big 'holy shit' top of the cage bump. you're slamming people onto a solid mat that is mic'd to give a good boom of a sound all night, so to do a death spot, especially one that made the other team verbally surrender out of fear for safety, and it ultimately ends up looking way more gentle than a normal bump in the ring, is a bit of an oof.

The worst thing to happen in pro wrestling is a bit of a stretch for sure though.

I get it being a bit like a fart in church and that they could've set it up better, but I'm not going to ask someone to take a bump like that unless they feel they could safely do it.

Enjoyed the show and I feel the bump has been summed up here.

What I did like was the commentators bemoaning MJFs lack of humanity then Schiavone says he should be thrown of the top head first

I'll be honest, as big of a fan that I am of AEW I felt that this show was very, very mediocre. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that big matches were dumb as hell for the most part. I love watching Kenny and Jon mix it up, I love hearing Eddie talk. I don't like watching a poor man's version of WWE comedy wrestling-or as I'm sure the apologists will try to convince "Oh it's like DDT" Naw, nobody got gorilla raped. Seriously, go back and watch this match, nobody gives a fuck. You even hear Jon say "What the fuck is this shit?" off camera when he throws one of them into the rail. lol

The main event was cool for what it was but like every match on this show it was weakened by jabronis. Shawn Spears sucks. To be 1000% honest, if I'm the only person who felt this was just a gorier version of the 1997 War Games, I'm cool with that. But the next time Tony or whoever wants to say MJF is going to throw Jericho off onto the concrete below.....don't lol.

One last thing...I noticed Kenny had the MEGA belt with him. I can't wait for OC to be the new AEW World champ.

And it had a killer story going into it with so many different layers that weren't solely about ROH v. CZW. Great match, and I've never said that about anything involving Nate Webb in my entire life.

He's been getting apeshit applause from crowds that size since he was an ant in CHIKARA so you're not missing much.

i'm talking about when the title match happens at double or nothing with full capacity crowd. it's really just myself missing a large, hot, crowd. wrestlemania was cool, but audio usually sucks in the open-air venues.

did chikara run arenas of that size?

Running an arena that size? Maybe. TNA used to run arenas that held 20,000 people and would sell maybe 1200 tickets so idk how size of arena v. crowd going apeshit last night for OC relates.

What match? He said THE SHOW, not the match. I'm just curious what match was perfect and why. You know me, I'm probably the biggest AEW fan on this board but I didn't see one match that was remotely perfect. GOOD? Sure, that was solely the main event. But it was way too long because they had shorter time intervals than everyone has used in the past. Usually it's 5 in between each entrant, they did 2 mins. Everything dragged after everyone was in. That last 20 minutes was just too long and the ending, like the deathmatch at the last ppv, was a dud.

War Games type matches aren't my thing, but it was well done for the most part. I started tuning out once all the guys got inside. The main problem I have is with the stipulation. There's no suspense for me because, as good as the work is, it's just guys beating each other up for 30 minutes. Then the match starts. If it was more of an Iron Man situation where each team is trying to get as many pin falls as possible throughout the match, that would get me more into it.

I was looking at that addition all night and wondering why they built another stage on top of the regular one. Once MJF and Jericho climbed on top of the cage it dawned on me what they were leading to. And the fake metal. It looked like rubber when the paramedics were kneeling down on it around Jericho.

I usually watch shows on DVR, but this one had me watching live, so they sold me on the Blood and Guts concept. I hate commericals with their loud, annoying music and sound effects, and goofy concepts. So during this, I just muted the sound and watching the match through it was okay. Lead up to the match was a good show. I was surprised they had Omega and Cassidy segment go on so long, but it was good. And the 4 way tag team match was pretty neat.

B&G itself was great, I thought. Until the ending. And it's not that I hated the ending, it was just framed weirdly. And I don't know if there is a way to really hide the crash pads without doing a zoom away. Which would suck. They should have really milked the Sammy agonizing over Jericho and MJF's threat. What also kinda sucks, is that I can't recall if Inner Circle ever come out on top in these big, high profile matches. I owe that to them being the uber-heels, and story-wise, this was made to make MJF.

But the match itself was great. There was blood, there were chair shots, tore up the ring, all good stuff.

I didn't think the match needed all the weapons. I also think that Cody blading himself at the last second was completely pointless and took away from everyone bleeding in the main event. Cody is probably the only wrestler that doesn't really fit in AEW which is so weird. He's very much a product of Triple H the only difference is Triple H knew who to work with and Cody is still apparently unsure of how that all works.

He should not be in there with QT Marshall and none of those wrestlers in either group should be in AEW other than Dustin. And I'm being generous there because I'm not high on how useless he's become in the overall picture. I thought they were going to push Dustin hard. Now it's QT....why??? Not as bad as Brandon Cutler and MT Nakamura.

Fuck I can't wait for Mox v. Nagata next week. Going to be 5 stars and then some.

Cody was hard way, according to the dirt sheets. Likely because of an accidental elbow. I know Nash won't believe it unless Cody and QT both give written statements and are willing to testify under oath though.

Jesus Christ, I figured that show would get AT LEAST a 2. 1.09?

The one good thing about AEW, despite having very very low viewership, they still translate decent numbers on ppv.

It wasn't as blatant as Jericho blading himself ala Hogan WM 7, but if you go back you see him lance himself real quick just so we know he can bleed like his dad.

dude, I just really enjoyed it? Everyone in the match got some shine, watching it commercial-free it didn’t seem to drag or really stall anywhere, the violence was next level, and I liked the finish. I don’t know what else to tell you, I thought it was a perfect match. I really wouldn’t have changed anything. If I had my own rating scale, I’d give it a 5/5.

    Other matches I consider perfect:

    Punk/Joe 2
AJ Styles vs Bully Ray TNA title
Kurt vs Joe in the cage
Punk vs Brock Summerslam whatever that was
    Cody vs Dustin
    Omega vs Okada 2
Jeff Hardy vs Undertaker on RAW
    Flair vs Michaels at Mania

id have to think of more, but I do believe there are perfect wrestling matches TO ME and in my mind, Blood and Guts was one.

Add another tally to AEW capping a big match w/ a cringe ending. Jericho falling onto a giant mat for the whole world to see is really forcing fans to pretend they're not looking at horse shit.

yes, i do not agree that two bad or underwhelming finishes are forcing me, or fans in general, to pretend that the consistently great wrestling product they're getting from AEW is horse shit. cause that's some stupid ass shit to agree with.

There were a couple notable botches in the match, one with Sammy falling doing a springboard, and one with Wardlow not catching Hager and having to pick him back up, but otherwise I thought it was a great match after watching it a 2nd time, commercial free. The finish would have been better if they didn't zoom in on the crash pad or had a gray one to match the "steel."

Ok, at least we're on the same page as knowing they're bad ending. Personally, I can't watch the ring explosion as well as Jericho fall and think "Eyy, great product!"

They have a lot going for them, but their ability to send it home successfully is way below decks.

2 endings out of how many shows though?

Was Santana and Ortiz showing up the end of a show? Because that was awesome.

So was Moxley showing up and paradigm shifting Kenny onto a poker chip.

Not all endings are big set pieces.

The exploding barb wire match was 2 months ago and now they tried to put together another big one last night and it was another wop wop ending. If it happens again in the next 2 months, is it ok to assume maybe they might suck at these kind of match endings?

I only recall the Thunder/Britt match, which was a banger and it ended great. I wouldn't put it on the same set piece level as a match w/ exploding barb wire or a double ringed cage match though.

You don't remember Omega/Moxley with the barbed wire trampoline? That's what it looked like to me anyway. I also liked the Mimosa Mayhem match with OC/Jericho.

Ahh, that's right. Yeah, I'd put that on there.

That match was late 2019 though. The exploding barb wire match and last night are two months apart. Pretty close together, no?

I actually find the seemingly genuine perpetual seething at his opinion of AEW, well at least the examples given, are just as interesting and perplexing.

The fact is, we're talking about a company who did fans pretty dirty. Imagine if you paid to go see Mania and the only match that was live was The Fiend v. Orton....

I'm only using Mania because it's the only real event the WWE have put on that wasn't the 20-25 people they have at NXT in forever.

It was stated numerous times only the last hour would be live. People should have known what they were getting into.

When and where? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying none of the stories out yesterday that I had read or heard mentioned anything about fans being aware when they bought their tickets that only the last hour would be live and they'd have to watch the first hour on a big screen.

So yeah if they bought their tickets with the knowledge that when they attended the live event, they too would be watching pre-taped programming on tv, that's on them.

The story that everyone is reporting is that when they showed up, Tony Khan came out and said that the first hour was pre-taped and if fans wanted a refund they could get one. So to me that screams false advertisement. Why give refunds to people who were 100% aware?

Edit: I posted this right after you so after reading that I'm still confused about offering refunds. If the fans were thinking it was only going to be a 1 match show, what's the problem here? They bought tickets to see one match? How much of a fucking mark do you have to be for a company to spend that kind of money on 1 match??? LOL. Idiots. Should've just stayed home.

So that’s why when they did the advertising, they advertised it was gonna be a one-match show, the idea was a one-match show for the people who bought tickets and so they wanted to tell everyone. There were people who didn’t know even though it had been advertised that way.”
Some people didn't read. I also heard they got cheap tickets for the next show.

I'm actually curious how this was advertised and if anyone has anything like a promo email or something stating you will only be seeing one match. Simply because I have to know what idiotic fan would think it was worth their time for one match lol.

i’m at the point of just fast forwarding through Moxley’s promo’s at this point. Life’s way too short to waste.

That ‘blood and guts’ was something else.
A little much on the blading; Tony and Ross giving out fake news about the first match in 1987 (“one of the participants was injured and never wrestled again”) and the ending with Jericho receiving “life threatening injuries” by being thrown from the top of the cage - into a rather soft pillow.

But these few things aside, it was insanely fun blood and guts indeed.
That spot with Spears and Guerrera on the two opposite ropes in the middle of the ring, first fighting, then Spears takes a chair shot while still balancing, then the two do that destroyer off the ropes, most impressive.

And everybody was asking how do you start a feud with a match that usually ends a feud, well this is how: heels go over and ‘injure’ the leader of the baby faces.....

who is now out with ‘life threatening injuries’ of course.

Well just watched this and it was decent but the main match was pretty much ruined by commercials that broke the .arch up and made you miss pretty much every time the rolls were reversed. Then ITV tuned into a 1980 VHS and nearly in watchable for the last ten mins.

Still enjoyed what I saw, might hunt a proper version down at somepoint. They really need to think of a better way to do high spots onto the crash mats though, it just looks lame as hell when it's clear they have landed on a crash mat, as much as they try and cover it. Maybes they need to start using camera angles that show the fall and not the impact for TV.

“We surrenderrr!” Don’t throw Jericho into that barely covered black crash mat underneath!!!!”

Kidding aside, great match. Pinnacle is the newer stable so them going over was the right call. Keeps the feud going and Inner Circle will get their revenge probably.

So, as a promise to Torn, I have watched a bunch of AEW and caught up. So, I’m trying to give AEW a chance, but there isn’t quite enough to keep drawing me in and making me say “damn, I gotta watch on Wednesday”. Some observations from my catching up.

Do we know what they are doing with Hangman Page? Because I greatly enjoy him, but he just seems to be i. A holding pattern going from little storylines that won’t add development to storylines that won’t add development.

Why, after a heel turn, are the Young Bucks dressing like early 90’s heel Shawn Michaels? It’s a terrible look.

I do like Omega as the shit heel, but my lord is Don Callis unwatchable. Easily the worst part of this stable.

Good on Jungle Boy for being a damn fine workhorse every week. That I enjoy.

Cody can fuck off. He is not nearly a great enough wrestler to book himself as if he is one. Also, IDK what we were doing with QT Marshall, but that whole storyline was incredibly boring.

Speaking of, this former boxing lad (Agrogo?). A few weeks back he won a match by, punching a guy in the stomach? Really? In this weird as kayfabe world, that’s a TKO? Just screamed weak to me.

I appreciate Darby Allin and as much as he goes, but overall I don’t get him. That’s probably more on me. I also hate the way he tends to randomly oversell.

Pac is and will always be awesome. But I’m confused as to whether Pentagon is face or heel. It seems to change an awful lot for no reason. That may be more me binging so much at a time though.

I like Orange Cassidy. Glad he isn’t overused or overdone yet.

I also enjoy Statlander. I recall watching her before I stopped watching and thinking she was a high point.

Speaking of, the women’s division is much better now. When I first gave AEW a shot, the woman’s division was horrific. Just plain out bad. I’m glad it’s better now.

However, I don’t really understand the Kayfabe reason Thunder Rosa seems to have just gone away and Britt is now #1 Contender. But I can live with it.

Moxley and Kingston...... So, I missed their feud, but I’m told the promos were great. What I have seen of Eddie Kingston, honestly makes me say meh. As for Mox..... Again, overall I enjoy him, but his promos can be a rambling mess at times.

Blood and Guts match..... was good. Was fine. Nothing that I thought was amazing, but good. Wardlow has a great look, I think he could be fantastic. FTR are awesome. I couldn’t give a single fuck about Spears. At all. Santana and Ortiz, I honestly haven’t seen a ton of him so am unsure (are they the old LAX guys from the indies). I’ve always liked Hager so seeing him is fun. Sammy Is a beautiful man. Just stunning. And he is already so good.

MJF and Jericho seems to be the current faces or AEW, and by all means. Even if Jericho’s in-ring has dropped a bit, his promos are as good as ever. And I know he is trying to make MJF a bigger star, and it’s working. I recall hating MJF for all the right reasons when I was originally watching, and he is still doing damn good at that now. The only question I have is when will he get his first real bit of in-ring comeuppance.

However, the finish of big matches seems to be more negative than positive. Thunder Rosa v Britt Baker, awesome. Just beautiful and it gave us that great image. But the explosion that wasn’t for Mox/Omega..... I know they tried explaining it away, but it still looked laugh out loud dumb. And Blood and Guts...... the whole match was fine. Was good. But they had to find a better way to mask what they dropped Jericho on. If your gonna go thru the effort of making the landing area look like Diamond plate steel, you can’t let people see that it is at best craft plywood and at worst, cardboard. Dunno how they fix that, but it immediately made me shake my head and go “really?”

I will keep giving it a chance, but I really need something to actually draw me in and make me say “I have to watch on Wednesday” instead of “eh, ill keep giving it a chance for a bit”.

    Their plot reveals/turns are good.

If spotty and try-hard at times, I enjoy the majority of their matches too.
