Hmmm they were very specific there saying "next time on dynamite" "X vs Y on the next dynatmite" "next time we see you" Not “Next week” I wonder if they are gonna shutdown.

same. it was essentially a handful of squash matches in a vignette instead of taking up a match on the card. hope they do some more of them until eventually someone like cody or mox or darby shows up after a bunch of squashes.

they have to scramble to find a venue to put the show on at, since arenas aren't allowing anything to take place, and daily's place isn't set up for the cage. i wouldn't be surprised if they can't do another live show like this right away.

Nice to see Dustin Rhodes still paints half his face when he isn't wrestling, there's no fans around, and he's not in his tights.

AEW is owned by a billionaire. NJPW isn't running any shows. I'm sure they'd be happy to get paid for some highlight footage.

I'm sure they filmed the carny footage long before NJPW cancelled shows

that was awesome but it's too bad they couldn't have done the matt hardy debut in front of an audience, the pop would've been huge.

That was a great episode under the circumstances. Several debuts and they built up Blood and Guts pretty well. The parking lot match between the BFs and Lucha Bros. is promising as well.

Well, Broken Matt got his wish.

The whole audience was DELETED for tonight.

That was a pretty fun debut. Loved Vanguard 1 getting "his" cameo there, too.

It was telling that nobody would say "next week" for the next episode of Dynamite and they just went on to say the next Dynamite. It sounds like they're anticipating running into issues for running B&G in an arena.

Congrats to Chuck Taylor, making it onto both Dynamite and NXT in one night. Brandi didn't miss a beat as a ring announcer.

Lee had a heck of a line: "Mr. Daniels, I assure you, you're not the first out-of-touch old man to not believe in me." Too bad they kind of kept on the wide shot too long so you could see him coming from the back to hit the ring lol. At least he goes from a heavy in one cult to leading another one.

Jericho was something else on commentary. "I've got my eye on [MJF]. Future, uh, future Elite, uh uh, All-...what are we called? Yeah, future Inner Circle member. Sorry, his sexiness put me in a tizzy."

If WWE got criticized for having Jerry Lawler out and about, then AEW deserves their share of the backlash for JR being present. Who knows when the Archer thing was filmed (though it was effective) and when they plan to do the lumberjack match but those don't exactly seem ideal for the current circumstances we are dealing with.

Feel for AEW for having to roll out two massive moments in an empty arena but I thought both reveals were entertaining. I'd say AEW did a better job of showing a wrestling product given the circumstances but they did have the benefit of more time to calibrate what they wanted to do.

It was a pretty cool swerve. Thinking the Exalted One was Matt Hardy, only to give us Luke Harper. Made the Matt reveal at the end even more special, though I'm not going to lie, I wish those two where still in WWE.

If The Exalted One had been Matt Hardy, The Elite would have had to have introduced a different 5th man. Because there's no way they'd have Brodie Lee debut as a babyface. It wouldn't have worked with the debuts switched.

And besides, the last time we saw Broken Matt was him getting his head caved in with two chairs. It figures they'd probably want to use him as a face, anyway. Its hard to boo somebody like that.

Also really surprising that Matt Hardy can show up in AEW so soon after leaving WWE. Didn't he have the typical 90-day no-compete clause?

Yep right away thought that on each reveal, especially Hardy when the drone starts flying in.

Loved the show for what they could do, well worked with heels and faces in the crowd. MJF/ Sammy interaction was brilliant.

Just a personal preference, I enjoy WWE more than AEW, and I was quite enjoying the Randy Orton and Matt Hardy stuff, felt they could have extended that if needed.

Finally, AEW once again blows WWE out of water when both given the ball creatively on (almost) equal ground. In all fairness, WWW did go first and showed AEW what not to do in an empty arena. Adding a few folks around the ring made a huge difference in alive vs dead.

Im not a huge fan of meaningless non-selling spotmonkey matches, but each week the positives are far outweighing WWE's massive negatives such as Dead scripted promos from lifeless talentless actors and absolutely knowing who will win every match on tv for five hours a week, every weeek. With AEW, it's not clear on 50-75 percent of the matches who is going to win.

I always said (in my house lol) that Matt Hardy arriving could change things for me.

But AEW has been winning me over for a while now

Id like to gush on but, I gotta go look up the lyrics for 'Judas'.........

Apparently, for whatever reason, WWE couldn't have any crew members etc in the audience.

    Credit PWI;
WWE is not under the radar the way that AEW is (or maybe was) so they can’t violate rules. They are also publicly traded while AEW isn’t.

Was it really smart to have people over 50 in the arena though, because that's the age range most likely to die from the coronavirus? Jim Ross, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and Jake Roberts should have stayed home.

    Were there over 50?

it sure seemed like there had to be with the production side but is somebody out there actually reporting that AEW had over 50 people gathered in that building on Weds night?

With his bells palsy and his advanced age, shouldn't Jim Ross be considered in the "risk group"?

I mean, let him commentate, but just get him a plastic bubble. Like that movie "Bubble Boy", only with less Fabio, racism, and homophobia.

so they're postponing the blood & guts match to a later date, saying it's not the right time. totally agree with the move. as excited as i was at the announcement of the match, i thought less than a month of current, active build for it was a bit silly, especially once it was set in stone that it was inner circle vs the elite. they've done a good job the last few weeks in hyping the match, but i think in the end delaying it will help even more. not having an arena full of fans for that match would be a travesty, so i'm glad it looks like they knew that, too. with that said, it does suck that we have no idea when it'll be possible to start thinking about it actually taking place.

10 guys bleeding buckets and flying off the top of a damn cage and killing themselves in front of some tech crew guys and the underneath dorks would be stupidity on the highest order.

It'd be like if Mankind took the bump off the top of Hell In A Cell during a run through in an empty arena.

They're promoting their next Dynamite as next Wednesday, so they're at least staying on schedule right now.

It would smart on their part to tape things in advance to prepare for if they're unable to film.

Oh yeah, right up until the bitter end.

By the time its Scott Hudson and Mike Tenay hosting, all the fun is gone and nobody's even watching. But its fun to see in that 2000/2001-era who shows up: "Wildcat" Chris Harris is a regular, Elix Skipper, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels (who wrestles Kwee-Wee and almost breaks his neck on a flipping dive, is obviously concussed, and then sloppily works his way through the rest of the match, botching worse than I've ever seen him botch anything ever.)

Because I'm a lunatic and can't concentrate on a purely audio podcast without something to watch along with it, that dude's channel (Al Balog) has become my video accompaniment for Jim Cornette's podcasts and the Cewshcast every week.

What are you like 15 years old where 50 seems like ancient to you still?

Old is like 70 in this case is my understanding. Everybody I know of who had gotten it in their 60's has survived.

Some of us in our 50's and 60's like myself, Ross and 'perhaps' a Jake might be in the high risk to likely die due to various weaknesses we have encountered in life, different but just as devestating Im sure.

Why Tully Blanchard or Arn Anderson (other than being morbidly obese) would be at higher risk but Tony Schiavone gets a free pass on health from Dr Donald is beyond me.

Awww yeah... its time once again for everybody to light the fuse, fire lick the wick, and get hyped for another episode of AEW...

Folks we're live (if you call this livin') yet again from AEW's very own doomsday bunker.

In front of "essential personnel" (and Joey Janela) we'll see tonight --

    - The official in-ring debut of The Exalted One - Brodie Lee.

    - In exciting singles action - The Over Exaggerated Jazz Hands of Kenny "Olivier" Omega vs. "The Spanish God" Sammy Guevara

    - Cody "Don't Call Me" Rhodes takes on the twisted and tormented and violent and psychopathic (and those are his good qualities) Jimmy Havoc.

    Also on tap:

    - Chris Jericho confronts Matt Hardy.

    - Cody Rhodes is on commentary. Play the drinking game - If you've been classified as "non-essential" and can survive the hangover tomorrow.

I'm a little bummed they changed the setup from last week.

Having the boys out in the crowd gave the show a little more spunk in the arena.

Trying to get AEW over by saying your ringside barricades are bike racks covered in cloth is like saying your ring is just a trampoline covered in mattresses.

That makes your shit sound so dirty and indie.

Cody riding the line of kayfabe and non-kayfabe on commentary tonight. Unlike his old man, Cody actually knows the names of moves and how to talk psychology.

Instead of shouting about "plunder" and saying "he's tryin' to uncle 'em there!".

Kenny's quiet spoken demeanor coupled with his killer body and wrestling ability makes him the perfect wrestler for Japan. A culture where they value politeness to a fault and athleticism in their wrestling to the exclusion of almost anything else.

It just doesn't translate 1-to-1 to an American audience.

Kenny Omega and Sammy Guevara should have just wrestled until 10.

    Stop the pain.

I feel like you keep Broken Matt away from long promos, put the character in video packages and skits, and maybe let him talk for a couple minutes at a time. In a very controlled environment.

Broken Matt isn't the kind of character who should be doing a 20-minute back-and-forth with somebody who does traditional promos, especially like Jericho.

That came across like Jericho was a social services worker and he was trying to talk Broken Matt into admitting himself into an institution. When you're dealing with the mentally ill, sometimes you feed into their delusion to gain their trust.

Jericho might as well have showed up in a white suit with a net to send Matt back to the loony bin.

Just because I’m going to enjoy it doesn’t mean I’ll agree with it.

I think Jake Roberts has had some pretty good stuff since he's come on board but it feels like most of his promo stuff is unintentionally getting over how cool of a promo Jake is rather than the imposing threat Archer should be. Not liking that disconnect in this early stage.

Moxley's promo was good but it feels off for why he's going for Hager. I know Hager powerbombed him through the table but Jericho was pretty much the instigator, but I guess the rerouting is due to the fact Jericho and Hardy are off on their own island now.

It's early but the different layers of Lee seemed confusing. Was the mocking of McMahon working with the sense that Lee is going to be a dick to his followers just because he can?

Guevara/Omega was very entertaining. The cuts to Brandi as Guevara was making out with the drawing of her were hilarious.

The whole confrontation was something else. Jericho cutting a promo on Vanguard 1, ending with Jericho trying to persuade Vanguard 1 to joining the Inner Circle, was something squarely in his wheelhouse. This is clearly a battle to see who is more delusional. The back and forth promo would have taken forever, as is, if it was in front of a crowd. I can't imagine the segment was everyone's cup of tea but it was definitely more in the vain of Impact's Broken Matt character.

Was good to see they were smarter with their personnel (mainly JR). The Omega seemed hot and cold to me with his commentary. Cody was solid in the same role. Tough cut to break during the Allin/Sabian match lol. Having the live look-ins backstage was a creative way to maybe work around having too many people ringside. I think the problem with that, though, was the constant cutaways to them.

It's going to be radically hit or miss among the viewing audience. If there's any question about Jericho's promo ability, though, I think that's been laid to rest because he was quite good over the duration of the segment. It all comes down to Hardy. It's just going to make AEW that much more diversified in terms of it genres within the show. I presume Hardy is going to stay on this course, and I'm guessing that the overall persona is likely a bridge too far for a lot of people.

I think there's an argument that Matt spent so much time away from the true Broken character that he hasn't found his groove with it again, yet. Ending segment was awkward, but only for the promo parts. Him teleporting through the crowd was the perfect kind of cheesy yet fascinating I was hoping for.

Here's hoping Matt gets his groove back, and we get some more pre-taped segments where he tends to knock it out of the park.

I think Jericho's reaction to Hardy's wonkiness was just as silly and scripted as Hardy's was silly and wack...
Overall it was not good, but maybe it was out of left field enough to satiate the innerchildren of wrestling. Hardy may be onto something being the Delete of the Elite.
