I scanned past Bojack on Netflix a bunch of times before finally caving on a bored weekend and giving it a go. It started off as just a pretty funny, unexceptional sitcom but god damn. Two seasons in you realise this amazing, bleak, dark as fuck comedy just crept up on you and now you're totally invested in all the characters.
Season 4 was an absolute Rolls Royce. If you haven't watched it, give it a shot. If you have, discuss how brilliant it is.
Gotten well into this lately. Takes a while. The first series was alright but after finishing it it took me a while to start watching again. Tends to pick up towards the end of each season as plot points come together and everything comes crashing down. Great show and I can't wait for the final few episodes at the end of the month.

I actually binged the hell out of this during the latter half of my semester this fall. It's addicting following the plots once the show really gets going. It's really amazing watching the character psychology playing throughout everything, it's endearing but painful to watch Bojack constantly try to fix himself, and I love that they start focusing more on the other characters' psyches after the first couple seasons.
Surprised it took me this long to properly watch it.
I love the series and it has one of the best intros ever. In the sequence besides the great tune, they add little things to spot that have happened every season. Without going into specifics, it takes time if you’re watching first time, but please don’t be put off as when you get through it, you can’t help but root for him even if he does appear an arsehole at timed. It’s one of those series you really have to take the time to watch all the way through it through every episode but it’s worth it. Really epitomises his struggle.
This is probably one of my favorite shows ever. So yeah, agree with everything said above. Real sad it's coming to a close because I heard them say they could have easily kept going for a few more years. Looking forward to the last bit, though, and will miss it when it's gone.
The argument being Bojack and Neil Mcbeal the Navy Seal, totally on Bojack’s side. Those muffins were fair game, Neil’s fault for leaving them unattended and being an arse for using his war hero status to try and make Bojack look like an arsehole.
Caught up with all of Bojack. Really enjoyed the series and it's done well on Netflix to last as long as it has.
ENDING SPOILERS:
The ending is bittersweet in a way but it's still well done. Bojack and Diane say goodbye to each other but at least they can get on with their lives with Diane happily married and now once and for all Bojack can squash his demons for good once he completes his prison sentence. Princess Carolyn also happily married with Judah and her career at the same time. Todd also settled with his girlfriend and his babysitting business. Mr Peanutbutter is just really back to his goofy self really so other than his engagement ending nothing's changed for him so appropriate. Messes up fixing the Hollywood sign by getting a D instead of a B which again is apt for him.
We never got a final send-off between Bojack and Hollyhovk or saw what was in that letter to him, although with him just dropping the letter after finally reading it does still effectively imply that she wants nothing to do with him anymore after learning of his actiins. To be honest, I didn't think she was that great or key a character anyway. It probably would've worked better if she was his daughter (like they were implying in earlier seasons) than his half-sister. That was a let-down.
Overall though, was pleased and it was well done. :-yes:
@Melly and I burned through the second half of the final season last night. Excellent as expected. Thought it ended well. Really going to miss this show a lot.
The second to last episode was one of the most terrifying things I've ever watched. This show really knows how to hit on the universal fears that I feel like everyone has had to contend with at some point. Every failure, negative thought and mistake laid bare before you. It would have been pretty incredible to have the last episode be the other characters dealing with a Bojack suicide, but they would have made it work. Ultimately though, this would have only destroyed more lives as Hollyhock would have felt the guilt of that decision to distance herself from him forever. And if the key message of the show has been that people can make changes to move away from their toxic habits and find a better version of themselves, this would have been a pretty bleak 'no you can't' ending to that theme.
I need to watch the last two runs of episodes again to really come to terms with what I feel about them (as well as to pick up on the many callbacks which I think I missed first time around) but ultimately the main thing is that Diane, Todd and Princess Carolyn found some chance of happiness, and Bojack had his reckoning. Can he ever really change? Can he rebuild his own life as well as the relationships he's poisoned along the way? Nobody knows.
This is one of the best TV shows of all time, no hesitation at all in saying that.

was about him drowning in the pool and that it tied into the show intro where he falls in the pool and is looking up (seeing the "view from halfway down") and that they'd actually been foreshadowing that he'd drown in the pool from the get-go.
What an incredible show. Both entrenched in TV tropes and subverting them at the same time. I love how it lures you in with the laughs and then hooks you with the existential feels.
I loved the overall theme and message of the show. We can't change who we are, and we'll always carry around the damage that we've endured. But we can always strive to be the best version of ourselves that owns up to our own bullshit. BoJack will always be a conceited asshole with a blunt tongue, but he doesn't have to be the self-destructive BoJack that destroys everything he touches. He does have to reckon with his transgressions, though. And more importantly that he wasn't more straight forth with said transgressions when he had the earliest opportunities to be. As Badger said, now he has pretty much owned up to everything in the most extreme circumstances and has a true chance at a fresh start when he gets out of prison.
Changing the format of the show through the later seasons was brilliant. Episode 15 was a perfect example for that, and an excellent climax in general. The ending, though, really fit that mold of the show. BoJack basically got to have his corny TV sitcom moments that he's always wanted as a likely final reconciliation and encounter with the people closest to him that never fully gave up. We had little to no presence of characters that weren't in the original main cast, and it ended on a non-finish where it wasn't a clean happy ending. But it gave you that sense of closure. The cycle may continue, but it gets better every time, and much like Diane and BoJack, you feel like you can leave these characters alone and they'll be alright. And that's a pretty wonderful feeling.
I didn't even notice it, but the only characters to speak in the final episode are Bojack, Mr PB, Todd, Princess Carolyn and Diane. Amazing that they could do that and not have it feel forced at all.
