    Your Favorite 80's Comedic Actor

Eddie Murphy for me. You have SNL, you have Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2, Coming To America, the 2 legendary stand up specials.

Eddie would also be my pick. You didn't even mention Trading Places which is one of my all time favorite comedies.

One could certainly make a case for Bill Murray or John Candy or Chevy Chase.

Oh shit I did miss that. I was trying to do it all off the top and I knew I'd miss something lol.

I can't disagree on those 3 you mentioned, especially Bill Murray. He had some legendary performances. If we're strictly talking favorites, Eddie would be my #1, and Murray #2.

I'd have to say Rodney Dangerfield for me. Absolutely killed it in Caddyshack and Back to School.

Can't got far wrong with the Pryor/Wilder combo.

Steve Martin would be up there for me too.

Steve Martin probably has the best case so far as successive quality movies in the 80s go. Right behind Eddie.

    BTW how great was Bowfinger?

I can't choose just one. Cheech & Chong, Gene Wilder & Richard Pryor, and Eddie Murphy are my picks.

Definitely can't sleep on Tom Hanks. BIG is one of the best movies of my childhood. I think we all had a moment in our childhood where we were like, man I wish I could just be big and do this this and this. I always liked his homeboy Jared Rushton of Pete Semetary Two and Honey I Shrunk the Kids fame.

Big, The Burbs, Splash, Bosom Buddies, Tom Hanks owned my brain from the ages of about 4 to 10.

Then some Hollywood exec saw The Burbs and was like "I want that man to get AIDS and talk with Denzel Washington! Make it happen!"

If you listen to Hanks talk about it, he said he went from doing a lot of goofy kid stuff, to an awful lot of roles where he played a wimpy guy, til he finally said he wanted to just play a man.

But as far as his 80's comedies - don't leave out Bachelor Party, Nothing in Common, and Dragnet.

He's one of those actors who has been able to do what many can't: Genre Bounce. Comedy, Drama, Action, I'm sure you could put him in a horror movie if he hasn't already done one of those and he'd nail it. Have we seen him as a bad guy in any movies?

And what are the odds DC or Marvel somehow get this guy in the mix? Is Tom Hanks just too elite for their universes? I mean, you look at the absolute top tier and only a few are in those movies.

I literally stumbled across a page on Instagram last night where they created a little GI Joe looking dude of Tom Hanks from a horror movie called "He Knows You're Alone".

Also, the dude pointed out that you could probably get away with calling "The Burbs" a horror comedy. It's a stretch, it'd be like calling Edward Scissorhands a horror movie I guess.

    Saving Private Ryan=action?

Yeah man apparently Hanks' first film was a horror movie. A guy told me that he has a very small role and it's nothing to get my hopes up but I'm still going to check it out.
